  • Where can I find resources for RPG Character Sprites? [closed]

    I'm developing a turn-based 2D RPG game. Everything's going fine except the lack of characters' sprites such as moving, attacking animation, etc.... By characters I mean both human-like and monster-like creatures. Is there a website providing sprites for free? Or a program (free or paid, whichever is fine) which will let me create sprites from scratch and automatically generate the images? I tried my best to search for one but the best I've managed to find so far is http://spriters-resource.com/. However, is there something else similar and better out there?

  • Hybrid Columnar Compression

    You heard me in the past talk about the HCC feature for Oracle databases. Hybrid Columnar Compression is a fantastic, built-in, free feature of Oracle 11Gr2. One used to need an Exadata to make use of it. However, last October, Oracle opened it up and now allows it to work on ANY Oracle DB server running 11Gr2, as long as the storage behind it is a ZFSSA for DNFS, or an Axiom for FC.     I am currently running Windows 7 Home Premium x64 on my laptop. I would like to install more than one Linux distro, IN ADDITION TO Windows 7. How do I go about this, what do I need to be careful and aware of, is it possible? The specific distros I might eventually install: Definitely: Ubuntu (is it a good idea to install the Linux-Secure-Remix version?) Almost definitely: OpenSUSE Probably: Zorin Possibly: Arch Possibly: Fedora Possibly: FreeBSD Computer details: Successfully used WUBI for Ubuntu in the past Recently reinstalled Windows using the RECOVERY partition Windows 7 Home Premium x64 model: ASUS K53U series AMD Brazos Dual Core E450 1.65 GHz 750GB hard drive, currently partitioned into C: (300GB total, 246 GB free), D: (373GB - total, 167 GB free), and RECOVERY (the rest of the space, I think) 4GB RAM Can I be sure that GRUB will work, if WUBI has worked?   • Randomly spawning bitmaps on cnvas

    I need some ideas in order to finish algorithm. I'm randomly placing objects (bitmaps) on canvas without overlapping. Time needed to finish it is my problem. When I need to spawn for example 80% of canvas it takes to long. So i was thinking : I should make some change when the bitmaps take off 50 % of canvas. I want to tell algorithm that it should generate new locations (x,y) where it is free space. My question is : How to render new location (x,y) in place where is free space. In summary: Things I know : object location (x,y) 4 corners (x,y) of object object width, height canvas width, height Any suggestions?

  • Trouble with FGLRX in quantal x86_64

    it's the third time i have to reinstall quantal because the fglrx is making me sick. I have an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 (the code ir RS880).When i install Ati Driver, i don't have any problems, but when i reboot, the resolution is minimal and the launcher isn't visible, i can only use the things that are in desktop and use the terminal using CTRL+ALT+T. i've tried to make specific distribution page, downloading the legacy driver from AMD, and another thing: when i had 12.04 jockey told me that i could install some drivers, i had trouble, but that doesn't matter. now, the option to install drivers doesn't tell me about any drivers, i mean, its blank. At the moment i'm using the free drivers (Gallium 0.4 on AMD RS880M. is there any alternative ? or i'll have to live with the free drivers ? Thanks a lot ! I KNOW I HAVE TO INSTALL LEGACY DRIVERS, I'VE INSTALLED THEM, THEY DON'T WORK.

  • New VHD for testing IE6 and IE7

    Regrettably old versions of IE (6 and 7)  are still in use and it is necessary to test against them. Microsoft recommended using a Virtual Machine to run these old versions. To this end, Microsoft provide free VHD images at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=21eabb90-958f-4b64-b5f1-73d0a413c8ef&displaylang=en These downloads need to be unpacked and run by Virtual PC which isa free download from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/virtualpc/default.mspx. If your host PC is Windows 7, use XPMORE from http://xpmore.codeplex.com/ to run the images.

  • Attempting to install Ubuntu 11.10 along side Windows 7 Professional 64bit. Installer doesn't recognize an operating system present

    System Details: Asus Sabertooth 990FX motherboard AMD FX-8120 CPU 16 GB DDR3 1600 Corsair Vengance RAM (4x4) EVGA Nvidia GTX-560Ti video card 2x Dvd/cd rw dirves 1 Bluray RW drive 1 Orico USB 3.0 & eSata panel 1 Sabrent floppy bay card reader w/USB 2.0 port 760W pc power & cooling PS OCZ agility 120GB SSD (Windows 7 Professional 64bit installed in an approx 80gb partition, NTFS. There is also a "System Reserved" partition shown in disk management at 100mb in size, also NTFS) That leaves about 32GB usable free, un-partitioned space in which I hoped to install Ubuntu. However when I run the Ubuntu 11.10 AMD64 installer, it doesn't show there is even an operating system installed. It just shows the entire drive as free-unpartitioned space. Just not sure what to do here. I was thinking about using the Wubi installer, but i don't know about that. Is the performance reduction pretty drastic? Thanks,

  • Email forwarding to gmail accounts instead of maintaining a mail server?

    I want to set up 4-5 email addresses on my newly purchased domain(from namecheap.com), for team size of just 2-3 people. But I really don't want to maintain my own mail server(don't have the experience as well as want to avoid the expenses involved, may be I could have kept the mail server alongside my webapp on the web server, but I would avoid). So I came across a workaround option to forward the emails. Thus I could setup email forwarding from namecheap's management console to my free gmail accounts. So all my emails would come to gmail account, convenient & familiar interface as well free. Are there any serious drawbacks of this approach ?
