    Hi folks, I'm trying to develop an image focusing algorithm for some test automation work. I've chosen to use AForge.net, since it seems like a nice mature .net friendly system. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find information on building autofocus algorithms from scratch, so I've given it my best try: take image. apply sobel edge detection filter, which generates a greyscale edge outline. generate a histogram and save the standard dev. move camera one step closer to subject and take another picture. if the standard dev is smaller than previous one, we're getting more in focus. otherwise, we've past the optimal distance to be taking pictures. is there a better way? update: HUGE flaw in this, by the way. as I get past the optimal focus point, my "image in focus" value continues growing. you'd expect a parabolic-ish function looking at distance/focus-value, but in reality you get something that's more logarithmic

  • How should one import large amounts of data for FIT/Fitnesse tests?

    We have a scheduling engine with large amounts of test data to test all the scenarios, so test automation is critical. We're currently hoping to use FIT/Fitnesse. However a single test has quite a large table of test data, so it doesn't fit very well into the mould of "two or three inputs, one or more outputs" that Fitnesse uses in its examples. Hopefully the other functionality of Fitnesse makes it worth using it. I hear that there is a way to initialize an application for a FIT test with an Excel spreadsheet - not the Spreadsheet to Fitness function, mind you - but I haven't been able to find it so far. Once the whole spreadsheet is loaded into the application, and the application does its thing, we plan to compare either a number of output rows, or perhaps just the last row, to see if the test passes. The application is currently pulling test data from a database for manual tests, but writing to a database, then initializing from it, is not preferred because of the performance impact. The application is written in C#.

  • jQuery UI Datepicker and Google Chrome not working

    Hi, I'm having some problems with jQueryUI Datepicker and Google Chrome. My datepicker is working as expected with IE8, Firefox and Safari. The problem is when clicking the datepicker connected textbox in Chrome. It gives me a crash page, "Oops, an error occurred...". On my page there's textbox with a datepicker. The datepicker is language dependent and it loads the correct language settings dynamically. The datepicker should also display the month and year dropdowns. The code is as follows $(function() {$.datepicker.setDefaults($.extend({ changeMonth: true, changeYear: true }, $.datepicker.regional['']));$('#<%= TextBoxBirthDate.ClientID %').datepicker($.datepicker.regional[$('#LabelRegionalSettings').val()]);}); If I only extend the datepicker with one option, i.e. changeYear, it works in Chrome. But if I add another option, i.e. changeMonth, the 'crash' in Chrome occurs. Is my code incorrect? If so, how do I fix it? Any help is greatly appreciated!

  • Why is Dispatcher.Invoke not triggering UI update?

    I am trying to reuse a UserControl and also borrow some logic that keeps track of progress. I'll try and simplify things. MyWindow.xaml includes a MyUserControl. MyUserControl has its own progress indicator (Formatting in progress..., Copying files..., etc.) and I'd like to mirror this progress somewhere in the MyWindow form. But, the user control has some logic I don't quite understand. I've read and read but I still don't understand the Dispatcher. Here's a summary of the logic in the user control that updates the progress. this.Dispatcher.Invoke(DispatcherPriority.Input, (Action)(() => { DAProgressIndicator = InfiniteProgress.AddNewInstanceToControl(StatusGrid, new SolidColorBrush(new Color() { A = 170, R = 128, G = 128, B = 128 }), string.Empty); DAProgressIndicator.Message = MediaCardAdminRes.ActivatingCard; ActivateInProgress = true; })); I thought I'd be smart and add an event to MyUserControl that would be called in the ActivateInProgress property set logic. public bool ActivateInProgress { get { return _activateInProgress; } set { _activateInProgress = value; if (ActivateInProgressHandler != null) { ActivateInProgressHandler(value); } } } I'm setting the ActivateInProgressHandler within the MyWindow constructor to the following method that sets the view model property that is used for the window's own progress indicator. private void SetActivation(bool activateInProgress) { viewModel.ActivationInProgress = activateInProgress; } However, the window's progress indicator never changes. So, I'm convinced that the Dispatcher.Invoke is doing something that I don't understand. If I put a message box inside the SetActivation method, the thread blocks and the window's progress indicator is updated. I understand basic threads but this whole Dispatcher thing is new to me. What am I missing?

    Hi, I am using the sharp architecture so I can easily use mocks etc. in my unit tests and/or during TDD. I have quite complicated business rules and would like to test them at the controller level. I am just wondering how other people do this? For me validation tests business rules at three levels: (1) Property level (e.g. property is required) (2) Intra property level (e.g. start date < end date) (3) Persistence level (e.g. name is unique, parent cannot be child of child) My validation framework also assigns errors to properties. I am just wondering what other people do? Do you write a test for each business rule and check whether the correct error message is assigned to the correct property (i.e. looking at the ASP.MVC ModelState)? I hope my question makes sense.     I wish to create a custom helper based on the element being dragged. I'm dragging documents and I'd like the document's number to be part of the custom helper. I know how to create a helper during init like this: helper: function() { return $("<div class='fax16'></div>"); } But what I really want to do is maybe in response to the start event get access to the element being dragged and use some of its properties to set the helper.     rig: win7 64bit, vs2010, mvc v2, TestDriven.Net 3.0, Reshaper 5.0, MSpec 0.3 i recently started a new project and want to use mspec. (1) copied Machine.Specifications.ReSharperRunner.5.0.dll and Machine.Specifications.dll to JetBrains\ReSharper\5.0\Bin\Plugins\Machine.Specifications (2) copied Machine.Specifications.TDNetRunner.dll to TestDriven.NET 3\Machine.Specifications when i try to run the test i get this error: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'Machine.Specifications i don't know where this error is coming from. vs2010 menu - ReSharper -Plugins shows the MSpec plugin. vs2010 menu -ReSharper - Options - Tools - Unit Testing also shows the MSpec unit testing provider but it doesn't show any details when i click on it as does MSTest and nUnit. i found this: http://marcinobel.com/index.php/mspec-bdd-installer/ which didn't work. i also tried this: http://eduncan911.com/blog/registering-mspec-runners-for-testdriven-net-on-windows-x64.aspx which also didn't work. now i fear i screwed my registry. any guidance?

    I want to test across multiple sessions using webrat in merb. Apparently, this is fairly easy to accomodate in Rails via: http://erikonrails.snowedin.net/?p=159. Following the same logic, I am trying to do something that follows that pattern for merb and webrat. Here is an attempt (which does not work because MerbAdapter does not respond to visit and other webrat session methods; I don't want to take too much more time with this so I have stopped here for now): # defined in test.rb environment file module Merb #:nodoc: module Test #:nodoc: module RequestHelper #:nodoc: def in_a_separate_session old = @_webrat_session.response.clone @_webrat_session = Webrat::MerbAdapter.new yield @_webrat_session.response = old end end end end I tried a few other ideas, but obviously I am missing something. Anyone else know how this would be done in merb? I think I could specify a cookie jar using the request mock, but I prefer to do this with webrat.

  • Quartz compositions created in Snow Leopard (10.6) doesn't work in Leopard (10.5) despite testing in

    Hi I have a reasonably advanced (many patches and subpatches) quartz composition that was created in Snow Leopard but doesn't run well (many elements are not rendered) in Leopard. The composition tested OK via Quartz Composer's Test in Runtime option and works fine for both Leopard 32-bits and Leopard 64-bits (menu item "File | Test in Runtime | Leopard 32-bits". In an actual Leopard (32-bits) system, a lot of elements are not rendered in the quartz composition. Below are the log file excerpt when the composition is run in QuickTime Player under Leopard: QuickTime Player[134] *** <QCNodeManager | namespace = "com.apple.QuartzComposer" | 335 nodes>: Patch with name "/units to pixels" is missing QuickTime Player[134] *** Message from <QCPatch = 0x06D82880 "(null)">:Cannot create node of class "/units to pixels" and identifier "(null)" QuickTime Player[134] *** Message from <QCPatch = 0x06D7C130 "(null)">:Cannot create node of class "/resize image to target" and identifier "(null)" QuickTime Player[134] *** Message from <QCPatch = 0x06D7C130 "(null)">:Cannot create connection from ["outputValue" @ "Math_1"] to ["Target_Pixels" @ "Patch_2"] The patch "units to pixels" is a system patch in Snow Leopard whereas the patch "resize image to target" is a custom virtual patch located in my home directory. It seems that we can cross out problems in which the composition is referencing a missing virtual patch. I have tested the composition under another user's account and it ran fine which shows that it already embeds the "resize image to target" virtual patch that is located in my home directory. I'm really puzzled why the composition passes the Leopard Runtime test but yet fail to run in an actual Leopard OS? Is there a post-processing step that I need to run to the composition file? Is there any way to make this patch more compatible with Leopard? Thanks in advance.

    I have written an iPhone and iPad universal app which runs fine in the iPad simulator on Xcode, but I would now like to test the iPhone functionality. I seem unable to run the iPhone simulator with this code as it always defaults to the iPad? Instead I tried to run on the device and as it begins to run I get the following error: dyld: Symbol not found: _OBJC_CLASS_$_UISplitViewController Referenced from: /var/mobile/Applications/9770ACFA-0B88-41D4-AF56-77B66B324640/Test.app/Test Expected in: /System/Library/Frameworks/UIKit.framework/UIKit in /var/mobile/Applications/9770ACFA-0B88-41D4-AF56-77B66B324640/Test.app/TEST As the App is built programmatically rather than using XIB's, I've split the 2 device logics using the following lines in the main.m method: if (UI_USER_INTERFACE_IDIOM() == UIUserInterfaceIdiomPad) { retVal = UIApplicationMain(argc, argv, nil, @"AppDelegate_Pad"); } else { retVal = UIApplicationMain(argc, argv, nil, @"AppDelegate_Phone"); } From that point forth they use different AppDelegates and I've checked my headers to ensure the UISplitView is never used nor imported via the Phone logic. How do I avoid this error and is there a better way to split the universal logic paths in this programmatically-created app?

    I've written a couple of tests for a small web app, but I get an error when I try to run the page specific tests that makes use of WicketTester. Google sends me to a mailing list for Apache Wicket, where a user experienced the same exception.   • Azure Membership UI

    Using AspProviders (TableStorageMembershipProvider etc) from Microsoft WCF Azure Samples. It is WCF Service Web Role, and in Azure Storage Explorer I can see Membership, Roles and Session tables appearing nicely when I try to connect. But is there any exisiting code to manage Membership and Roles? Some ASPX pages I guess, something like this for plain old ASP.NET, but more modern and Azure-tested hopefully? Thanks, Andres

    Hello, I have a test suite to perform smoke tests. I have all my script stored in various classes but when I try and run the test suite I can't seem to get it working if it is in a class. In one of the tests the suite is set up like so: class InternalSanityTestSuite(unittest.TestSuite): # Tests to be tested by test suite def makeInternalSanityTestSuite(): suite = unittest.TestSuite() suite.addTest(TestInternalSanity("BasicInternalSanity")) suite.addTest(TestInternalSanity("VerifyInternalSanityTestFail")) return suite def suite(): return unittest.makeSuite(TestInternalSanity) If I have def suite() inside the class SmokeTests the script executes but the tests don't run but if I remove the class the tests run. I run this as a script and call in variables into the tests. I do not want to have to run the tests by os.system('python tests.py'). I was hoping to call the tests through the class I have like any other function. This need's to be called from a class as the script that I'm calling it from is Object Oriented. If anyone can get the code to be run using Call Tests I would appreciate it alot. Thanks for any help in advance.

    I have a web service that I am trying to test in Visual Web Developer Express Edition (Service Pack 1). I am working with two different websites on two different branches from an SVN repository but largely the same code. The web services are the same code but there are some code differences for other features. My problem is that when going to the web service specification page in debug mode (i.e. MyWebService.asmx) there should be text fields for inputting parameters for that web service. On one of these web sites the fields are available. On another they are not available. I don't understand why/how there should be any differences between the two setups.

    I am trying to figure out how to get the mouse scroll working on a wpf window with a scrollviewer and a datagrid within it. I am able to move the scrollbar of the scrollviewer directly though. I am still a wpf novice so any help on how to get the mouse scroll to work over the datagrid would be appreciated. I am guessing there should be a pretty easy solution for this but I havent been able to figure it out
