    How big task is it to implement support for Arabic localization, our Java 1.5 Applet was designed as fully localizable (european languages) but now we plan to add also arabic as a new language. We are using custom GUI text i/o components inherited from Component class using e.g. Drawstring, how well is arabic supported within Component class ? The keyboard input is done with KeyListener getKeyChar, getKeyCode etc.

  • Is Collections.shuffle suitable for a poker algorithm?

    Hi, there is a poker-system in java, that uses Collections.shuffle() on all available cards before the cards are dealt. So a collection of 52 cards 2-9, J, Q, K, A in 4 types. After that we Collections.shuffle(). The problem is, that it seems (until now we didn't have big statistic, it's possible that we only see a lot of statistic inferences), that the algorithm is VERY unclearly. So, is Collections.shuffle() okay for a poker algorithm?

    Hi, Is it possible to use any LCD with arduino or I need to stick to some for which the libraries are available. I'm just starting out with arduino and know nothing about interfacing LCDs with arduino. I'm planing to buy Old IPhone LCD as they are cheap and big enough to do something useful with them. Also to use iPhone LCD do I need to add some extra circuit or directly plugging iPhone LCD into arduino will work? I don't care about the touch feature right now.

    Assume my git repository has the following structure: /.git /Project /Project/SubProject-0 /Project/SubProject-1 /Project/SubProject-2 and the repository has quite some commits. Now one of the subprojects (SubProject-0) grows pretty big, and I want to take SubProject-0 out and set it up as a standalone project. Is it possible to extract all the commit history involving SubProject-0 from the parent git repository and move it to a new one?

  • Is JSON.stringify() reliable for serializing JSON objects?

    I need to send full objects from Javascript to PHP. It seemed pretty obvious to do JSON.stringify() and then json_decode() on the PHP end, but will this allow for strings with ":" and ","? Do I need to run an escape() function on big user input strings that may cause an issue? What would that escape function be? I don't think escape works for my purposes. Are there any downsides to JSON.stringify() I need to know about? Thanks

    I have a system where a remote agent sends serialized structures (from and embedded C system) for me to read and store via IP/UDP. In some cases I need to send back the same structure types. I thought I had a nice setup using Marshal.PtrToStructure (receive) and Marshal.StructureToPtr (send). However, a small gotcha is that the network big endian integers need to be converted to my x86 little endian format to be used locally. When I'm sending them off again, big endian is the way to go. I don't want to have to swap the endianness on a structure-specific way. My first thought was to use Reflection, but I'm not very familiar with that feature.     I've got a really big number: 5799218898. And want to shift it right to 13 bits. So, windows-calculator or python gives me: 5799218898 13 | 100010100100001110011111100001 13 70791 | 10001010010000111 As expected. But Javascript: 5799218898 13 | 100010100100001110011111100001 13 183624 | 101100110101001000 I think it because of internal integer representation in javascript, but cannot find anything about that.
