  • WCF Data Service BeginSaveChanges not saving changes in Silverlight app

    - by Enigmativity
I'm having a hell of a time getting WCF Data Services to work within Silverlight. I'm using the VS2010 RC. I've struggled with the cross domain issue requiring the use of clientaccesspolicy.xml & crossdomain.xml files in the web server root folder, but I just couldn't get this to work. I've resorted to putting both the Silverlight Web App & the WCF Data Service in the same project to get past this issue, but any advice here would be good. But now that I can actually see my data coming from the database and being displayed in a data grid within Silverlight I thought my troubles were over - but no. I can edit the data and the in-memory entity is changing, but when I call BeginSaveChanges (with the appropriate async EndSaveChangescall) I get no errors, but no data updates in the database. Here's my WCF Data Services code: public class MyDataService : DataService<MyEntities> { public static void InitializeService(DataServiceConfiguration config) { config.SetEntitySetAccessRule("*", EntitySetRights. All); config.SetServiceOperationAccessRule("*", ServiceOperationRights. All); config.DataServiceBehavior.MaxProtocolVersion = DataServiceProtocolVersion.V2; } protected override void OnStartProcessingRequest(ProcessRequestArgs args) { base.OnStartProcessingRequest(args); HttpContext context = HttpContext.Current; HttpCachePolicy c = HttpContext.Current.Response.Cache; c.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.ServerAndPrivate); c.SetExpires(HttpContext.Current.Timestamp.AddSeconds(60)); c.VaryByHeaders["Accept"] = true; c.VaryByHeaders["Accept-Charset"] = true; c.VaryByHeaders["Accept-Encoding"] = true; c.VaryByParams["*"] = true; } } I've pinched the OnStartProcessingRequest code from Scott Hanselman's article Creating an OData API for StackOverflow including XML and JSON in 30 minutes. Here's my code from my Silverlight app: private MyEntities _wcfDataServicesEntities; private CollectionViewSource _customersViewSource; private ObservableCollection<Customer> _customers; private void UserControl_Loaded(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { if (!System.ComponentModel.DesignerProperties.GetIsInDesignMode(this)) { _wcfDataServicesEntities = new MyEntities(new Uri("http://localhost:7156/MyDataService.svc/")); _customersViewSource = this.Resources["customersViewSource"] as CollectionViewSource; DataServiceQuery<Customer> query = _wcfDataServicesEntities.Customer; query.BeginExecute(result => { _customers = new ObservableCollection<Customer>(); Array.ForEach(query.EndExecute(result).ToArray(), _customers.Add); Dispatcher.BeginInvoke(() => { _customersViewSource.Source = _customers; }); }, null); } } private void button1_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { _wcfDataServicesEntities.BeginSaveChanges(r => { var response = _wcfDataServicesEntities.EndSaveChanges(r); string[] results = new[] { response.BatchStatusCode.ToString(), response.IsBatchResponse.ToString() }; _customers[0].FinAssistCompanyName = String.Join("|", results); }, null); } The response string I get back data binds to my grid OK and shows "-1|False". My intent is to get a proof-of-concept working here and then do the appropriate separation of concerns to turn this into a simple line-of-business app. I've spent hours and hours on this. I'm being driven insane. Any ideas how to get this working?

  • Call Webservice without adding a WebReference - with Complex Types

    - by ck
I'm using the code at This Site to call a webservice dynamically. [SecurityPermissionAttribute(SecurityAction.Demand, Unrestricted = true)] public static object CallWebService(string webServiceAsmxUrl, string serviceName, string methodName, object[] args) { System.Net.WebClient client = new System.Net.WebClient(); //-Connect To the web service using (System.IO.Stream stream = client.OpenRead(webServiceAsmxUrl + "?wsdl")) { //--Now read the WSDL file describing a service. ServiceDescription description = ServiceDescription.Read(stream); ///// LOAD THE DOM ///////// //--Initialize a service description importer. ServiceDescriptionImporter importer = new ServiceDescriptionImporter(); importer.ProtocolName = "Soap12"; // Use SOAP 1.2. importer.AddServiceDescription(description, null, null); //--Generate a proxy client. importer.Style = ServiceDescriptionImportStyle.Client; //--Generate properties to represent primitive values. importer.CodeGenerationOptions = System.Xml.Serialization.CodeGenerationOptions.GenerateProperties; //--Initialize a Code-DOM tree into which we will import the service. CodeNamespace nmspace = new CodeNamespace(); CodeCompileUnit unit1 = new CodeCompileUnit(); unit1.Namespaces.Add(nmspace); //--Import the service into the Code-DOM tree. ServiceDescriptionImportWarnings warning = importer.Import(nmspace, unit1); if (warning == 0) //--If zero then we are good to go { //--Generate the proxy code CodeDomProvider provider1 = CodeDomProvider.CreateProvider("CSharp"); //--Compile the assembly proxy with the appropriate references string[] assemblyReferences = new string[5] { "System.dll", "System.Web.Services.dll", "System.Web.dll", "System.Xml.dll", "System.Data.dll" }; CompilerParameters parms = new CompilerParameters(assemblyReferences); CompilerResults results = provider1.CompileAssemblyFromDom(parms, unit1); //-Check For Errors if (results.Errors.Count > 0) { StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(); foreach (CompilerError oops in results.Errors) { sb.AppendLine("========Compiler error============"); sb.AppendLine(oops.ErrorText); } throw new System.ApplicationException("Compile Error Occured calling webservice. • How to configure a WCF service to only accept a single client identified by a x509 certificate

    - by Johan Levin
I have a WCF client/service app that relies on secure communication between two machines and I want to use use x509 certificates installed in the certificate store to identify the server and client to each other. I do this by configuring the binding as <security authenticationMode="MutualCertificate"/>. There is only client machine. The server has a certificate issued to server.mydomain.com installed in the Local Computer/Personal store and the client has a certificate issued to client.mydomain.com installed in the same place. In addition to this the server has the client's public certificate in Local Computer/Trusted People and the client has the server's public certificate in Local Computer/Trusted People. Finally the client has been configured to check the server's certificate. I did this using the system.servicemodel/behaviors/endpointBehaviors/clientCredentials/serviceCertificate/defaultCertificate element in the config file. So far so good, this all works. My problem is that I want to specify in the server's config file that only clients that identify themselves with the client.mydomain.com certificate from the Trusted People certificate store are allowed to connect. The correct information is available on the server using the ServiceSecurityContext, but I am looking for a way to specify in app.config that WCF should do this check instead of my having to check the security context from code. Is that possible? Any hints would be appreciated. By the way, my server's config file looks like this so far: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <configuration> <system.serviceModel> <services> <service name="MyServer.Server" behaviorConfiguration="CertificateBehavior"> <endpoint contract="Contracts.IMyService" binding="customBinding" bindingConfiguration="SecureConfig"> </endpoint> <host> <baseAddresses> <add baseAddress="http://localhost/SecureWcf"/> </baseAddresses> </host> </service> </services> <behaviors> <serviceBehaviors> <behavior name="CertificateBehavior"> <serviceCredentials> <serviceCertificate storeLocation="LocalMachine" x509FindType="FindBySubjectName" findValue="server.mydomain.com"/> </serviceCredentials> </behavior> </serviceBehaviors> </behaviors> <bindings> <customBinding> <binding name="SecureConfig"> <security authenticationMode="MutualCertificate"/> <httpTransport/> </binding> </customBinding> </bindings> </system.serviceModel> </configuration>

  • Object of type 'customObject' cannot be converted to type 'customObject'.

    - by Phani Kumar PV
i am receiving the follwing error when i am invoking a custom object "Object of type 'customObject' cannot be converted to type 'customObject'." Following is the scenario when i am getting the error i am invoking a method in a dll dynamically. Load an assembly CreateInstance.... calling MethodInfo.Invoke() passing int, string as a parameter for my method is working fine = No exceptions are thrown. But if I try and pass a one of my own custom class objects as a parameter, then I get an ArgumentException exception, and it is not either an ArgumentOutOfRangeException or ArgumentNullException. "Object of type 'customObject' cannot be converted to type 'customObject'." I am doing this in a web application. The class file containing the method is in a different proj . also the custom object is a sepearte class in the same file. there is no such thing called a static aseembly in my code. I am trying to invoke a webmethod dynamically. this webmethod is having the customObject type as an input parameter. So when i invoke the webmethod i am dynamically creating the proxy assembly and all. From the same assembly i am trying to create an instance of the cusotm object assinging the values to its properties and then passing this object as a parameter and invoking the method. everything is dynamic and nothing is created static.. :( add reference is not used. Following is a sample code i tried to create it public static object CallWebService(string webServiceAsmxUrl, string serviceName, string methodName, object[] args) { System.Net.WebClient client = new System.Net.WebClient(); //-Connect To the web service using (System.IO.Stream stream = client.OpenRead(webServiceAsmxUrl + "?wsdl")) { //--Now read the WSDL file describing a service. CodeNamespace nmspace = new CodeNamespace(); CodeCompileUnit unit1 = new CodeCompileUnit(); unit1.Namespaces.Add(nmspace); //--Import the service into the Code-DOM tree. This creates proxy code //--that uses the service. ServiceDescriptionImportWarnings warning = importer.Import(nmspace, unit1); if (warning == 0) //--If zero then we are good to go { //--Generate the proxy code CodeDomProvider provider1 = CodeDomProvider.CreateProvider("CSharp"); //--Compile the assembly proxy with the appropriate references string[] assemblyReferences = new string[5] { "System.dll", "System.Web.Services.dll", "System.Web.dll", "System.Xml.dll", "System.Data.dll" }; CompilerParameters parms = new CompilerParameters(assemblyReferences); CompilerResults results = provider1.CompileAssemblyFromDom(parms, unit1); //-Check For Errors if (results.Errors.Count > 0) { StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(); foreach (CompilerError oops in results.Errors) { sb.AppendLine("========Compiler error============"); sb.AppendLine(oops.ErrorText); } throw new System.ApplicationException("Compile Error Occured calling webservice. " + sb.ToString()); } //--Finally, Invoke the web service method Type foundType = null; Type[] types = results.CompiledAssembly.GetTypes(); foreach (Type type in types) { if (type.BaseType == typeof(System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol)) { Console.WriteLine(type.ToString()); foundType = type; } } object wsvcClass = results.CompiledAssembly.CreateInstance(foundType.ToString()); MethodInfo mi = wsvcClass.GetType().GetMethod(methodName); return mi.Invoke(wsvcClass, args); } else { return null; } } } I cant find anything static being done by me. any help is greatly appreciated. • WCF .svc Accessible Over HTTP But Accessing WSDL Causes "Connection Was Reset"

    - by Wolfwyrd
I have a WCF service which is hosted on IIS6 on a Win2003 SP2 machine. The WCF service is hosting correctly and is visible over HTTP giving the usual "To test this service, you will need to create a client and use it to call the service" message. However accessing the .svc?WSDL link causes the connection to be reset. The server itself is returning a 200 in the logs for the WSDL request, an example of which is shown here, the first call gets a connection reset, the second is a successful call for the .svc file. 2010-04-09 11:00:21 W3SVC6 MACHINENAME 10.79.42.115 GET /IntegrationService.svc wsdl 80 - 10.75.33.71 HTTP/1.1 Mozilla/4.0+(compatible;+MSIE+7.0;+Windows+NT+5.1;+.NET+CLR+2.0.50727;+.NET+CLR+1.1.4322;+.NET+CLR+1.0.3705;+InfoPath.1;+.NET+CLR+3.0.04506.30;+MS-RTC+LM+8;+.NET+CLR+3.0.4506.2152;+.NET+CLR+3.5.30729;) - - devsitename.mydevdomain.com 200 0 0 0 696 3827 2010-04-09 11:04:10 W3SVC6 MACHINENAME 10.79.42.115 GET /IntegrationService.svc - 80 - 10.75.33.71 HTTP/1.1 Mozilla/5.0+(Windows;+U;+Windows+NT+5.1;+en-GB;+rv:1.9.1.9)+Gecko/20100315+Firefox/3.5.9+(.NET+CLR+3.5.30729) - - devsitename.mydevdomain.com 200 0 0 3144 457 265 My Web.Config looks like: <system.serviceModel> <serviceHostingEnvironment > <baseAddressPrefixFilters> <add prefix="http://devsitename.mydevdomain.com" /> </baseAddressPrefixFilters> </serviceHostingEnvironment> <behaviors> <serviceBehaviors> <behavior name="My.Service.IntegrationServiceBehavior"> <serviceMetadata httpGetEnabled="true" /> <serviceDebug includeExceptionDetailInFaults="false" /> </behavior> </serviceBehaviors> </behaviors> <services> <service behaviorConfiguration="My.Service.IntegrationServiceBehavior" name="My.Service.IntegrationService"> <endpoint address="" binding="wsHttpBinding" contract="My.Service.Interfaces.IIntegrationService" bindingConfiguration="NoSecurityConfig" /> <endpoint address="mex" binding="mexHttpBinding" contract="IMetadataExchange" /> </service> </services> <bindings> <wsHttpBinding> <binding name="NoSecurityConfig"> <security mode="None" /> </binding> </wsHttpBinding> </bindings> </system.serviceModel> I'm pretty much stumped by this one. It works fine through the local dev server in VS2008 but fails after deployment. For further information, the targeted machine does not have a firewall (it's on the internal network) and the logs show the site thinks it's fine with 200 OK responses. I've also tried updating the endpoint with the full URL to my service however it still makes no difference. I have looked into some of the other options - creating a separate WSDL manually and exposing it through the metadata properties (really don't want to do that due to the maintenance issues). If anyone can offer any thoughts on this or any other workarounds it would be greatly appreciated.

  • Using jQuery to call a web service

    - by Matt
    I have created a web service which takes a username and password as parameters and returns a list of children in JSON (the user is a Social Worker). The web service is hosted locally with IIS7. I am attempting to access the web service using javascript/jquery because it will eventually need to run as a mobile app. I'm not really experienced with web services, or javascript for that matter, but the following two links seemed to point me in the right direction: http://williamsportwebdeveloper.com/cgi/wp/?p=494 http://encosia.com/using-jquery-to-consume-aspnet-json-web-services/ This is my html page: <%@ Page Title="" Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/MasterPage.Master" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="TestWebService.aspx.cs" Inherits="Sponsor_A_Child.TestWebService" %> <asp:Content ID="Content1" ContentPlaceHolderID="stylesPlaceHolder" runat="server"> <script type="text/javascript" src="Scripts/jquery-1.7.1.js"> $(document).ready(function () { }); function LoginClientClick() { $("#query_results").empty(); $("#query_results").append('<table id="ResultsTable" class="ChildrenTable"><tr><th>Child_ID</th><th>Child_Name</th><th>Child_Surname</th></tr>'); $.ajax({ type: "POST", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", url: "http://localhost/PhoneWebServices/GetChildren.asmx/GetMyChildren", data: '{ "email" : "' + $("#EmailBox").val() + '", "password": "' + $("#PasswordBox").val() + '" }', dataType: "json", success: function (msg) { var c = eval(msg.d); alert("" + c); for (var i in c) { $("#ResultsTable tr:last").after("<tr><td>" + c[i][0] + "</td><td>" + c[i][1] + "</td><td>" + c[i][2] + "</td></tr>"); } } }); } </script> </asp:Content> <asp:Content ID="Content2" ContentPlaceHolderID="contentPlaceHolder" runat="server"> <div id="LoginDiv"> Email: <input id="EmailBox" type="text" /><br /> Password: <input id="PasswordBox" type="password" /><br /> <input id="LoginButton" type="button" value="Submit" onclick="LoginClientClick()" /> </div> <div id="query_results"> </div> </asp:Content> And this is my web service code: [WebMethod (Description="Returns the list of children for whom the social worker is responsible.")] public String GetMyChildren(String email,String password) { DataSet MyChildren=new DataSet(); int ID=SocialWorkerLogin(email, password); if (ID > 0) { MyChildren = FillChildrenTable(ID); } MyChildren.DataSetName = "My Children"; //To prevent 'DataTable name not set' error string[][] JaggedArray = new string[MyChildren.Tables[0].Rows.Count][]; int i = 0; foreach (DataRow rs in MyChildren.Tables[0].Rows) { JaggedArray[i] = new string[] { rs["Child_ID"].ToString(), rs["Child_Name"].ToString(), rs["Child_Surname"].ToString() }; i = i + 1; } // Return JSON data JavaScriptSerializer js = new JavaScriptSerializer(); string strJSON = js.Serialize(JaggedArray); return strJSON; } I followed the examples in the provided links, but when I press submit, only the table headers appear but not the list of children. When I test the web service on it's own though, it does return a JSON string so that part seems to be working. Any help is greatly appreciated :)

  • How do I generate C# code from WADL files?

    - by Anders Sandvig
I am looking for a code generator than can generate C# code to access RESTful web services described by WADL files in a way similar to how wadl2java works. Doing som searching I came across the rest-api-code-gen project on Google Code, but although the latest source does in fact support C#, the REST Describe & Compile demo site does not. (The C# button is there, but it's disabled.) I realize I could download the source and set up my own server with the latest version, but I would prefer not to, as what I need is a command line tool and not a web application with dependencies to Google Web Toolkit. I guess I could write my own a command line tool based on the same source code, but if it has already been done, or other tools can do the job, I'd rather avoid it. So, I'm wondering, are there any tools like that out there?

  • Setting up Metro 2.0 with Jetty 7

    - by trojanfoe
This question relates to a previous question of mine. I am attempting to set-up a low overhead Web Container using Jetty 7 that I can deploy Web Services using Metro 2.0. I have installed the following Metro 2.0 libs into jetty/lib: webservices-extra-api.jar webservices-extra.jar webservices-rt.jar webservices-tools.jar And the following into a new jetty/lib/endorsed directory: jsr173_api.jar webservices-api.jar I start Jetty with the following script (Windows) to ensure that jetty/lib/endorsed is part of the 'endorsed library path' and to ensure that Jetty adds the webservices jars to its classpath: @echo off set JETTY_HOME=C:\dev\jetty-7.1.0 set JAVA_OPTS=-Xmx1024m -XX:MaxPermSize=512m -Djetty.home=%JETTY_HOME% -Djava.endorsed.dirs=%JETTY_HOME%\lib\endorsed -Djetty.class.path=%JETTY_HOME%\lib\webservices-rt.jar;%JETTY_HOME%\lib\endorsed\webservices-api.jar -DSTOP.PORT=8079 -DSTOP.KEY=jettykey pushd %JETTY_HOME% java %JAVA_OPTS% -jar start.jar popd However when I deploy a WebServices war file (for example Metro sample 'pricequote'), I get the following exception: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.sun.xml.ws.transport.http.servlet.WSServletContextListener Can anyone help me with this please? I suspect it's related to the order of classes in Jetty's classpath?

  • ASP.Net SSRS Report Viewer 9.0 and Report Viewer 10.0 Side-By-Side

    - by user333541
We are rolling out a large deployment of SQL Server Reporting Services Reports and our platform is SQL Server 2005 so our Report Server is version 2005 running in Native mode. Our web application uses server reports rendered in the Report Viewer 9.0 control. We want to be able to use local reports based on the 2008 RDL spec to create some dashboard applications. We also would like to use the new report viewer 10.0 to viewer these reports. Is there a way to run these both Side-By-Side in the same project? If so how would we go about that? Create a custom server control?

  • SOAP Web Service method naming conventions

    - by dbguy
Consider a Web Service (e.g. SOAP-based) that has an operation which accepts a bulk of data from the client. From the server's point of view it is receiving data, but from the client's point of view it's sending data. How should that operation be named? The options are ImportData ExportData / SendData Is there a de facto standard for naming these things? How do web services usually name these? Thank you for your opinions.

  • WCF Data Service Exception

    - by Ravi
Hi, I am working on C#.Net with ADO.NET Dataservice WCF Data Services. I try to update one record to relational table, when I reach context.SetLink() I am getting exception("The context is not currently tracking the entity"). I don't know how to solve this problem. My code is specified below. LogNote dbLogNote =logNote; LogSubSession dbLogSubSession = (from p in context.LogSubSession where p.UID == logNote.SubSessionId select p).First<LogSubSession>() as LogSubSession; context.AddToLogNote(dbLogNote); dbLogNote.LogSubSession = dbLogSubSession; context.SetLink(dbLogNote, "LogSubSession", dbLogSubSession); context.SaveChanges(); Here LogSubSession is a primary table and LogNote is a foreign table. I am updating data into foreign table based on primary key table. Thanks

  • HTTP Content-Type in ASP.Net SoapHttpClientProtocol

    - by Daniel Fone
Hi there, I have a problem with a Web Service Consumer written in ASP.NET. The error message is: System.InvalidOperationException: Client found response content type of 'application/xml; charset=utf-8', but expected 'text/xml'. The client is based on System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol. We can't change the Content-Type given by the provider, this has to be 'application/xml; charset=utf-8'. Is there any way to change what Content-Type the SoapHttpClientProtocol expects? Unfortunately, we are probably limited to .NET 1.1. Thanks! Update: We found a way to change the Content-Type sent by the provider, and this solved the problem. I'd still be curious to know how to change the expectations of the consumer though.

  • Sporadic name resolution failure happening on web service call

    - by ansleygal
One of our wcf service applications calls a seperate third party web service to submit information. We are getting the following error every so often, but not all the time: System.Net.WebException: The remote name could not be resolved: 'ws.examplesite.net' at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetRequestStream() at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol.Invoke(String methodName, Object[] parameters) The wierd thing is that after the error happens, we can hit "Submit" again a second later and it will go through just fine. We have checked and double checked with our network guys and they have confirmed that DNS is correct, and they have done multiple nslookups in a row to confirm. This is happening in all environments (dev, test and prod). We use the third party test and prod urls, and it is happening when we point to both. Does anyone have any other trouble shooting techniques for this or any reason this would happen? Much thanks, ~Ansley

    Hi, I'm trying to call this WS from PHP: namespace WsInteropTest { /// <summary> /// Summary description for Service1 /// </summary> [WebService(Namespace = "http://advantage-security.com/")] [WebServiceBinding(ConformsTo = WsiProfiles.BasicProfile1_1)] [System.ComponentModel.ToolboxItem(false)] // To allow this Web Service to be called from script, using ASP.NET AJAX, uncomment the following line. // [System.Web.Script.Services.ScriptService] public class TestWs : System.Web.Services.WebService { [WebMethod] public string HelloWorld(int entero) { return "Hello World " + entero.ToString(); } } } The code i use to call the WS is this: <?php require_once('nusoap\nusoap.php'); $client = new nusoap_client('http://localhost/testws/TestWS.asmx?WSDL'); $params = array( 'entero' => 100 ); $result = $client->call('HelloWorld', array($params), 'http://advantage-security.com/HelloWorld', 'http://advantage-security.com/HelloWorld'); print_r($result); ?> and the result is this Hello World 0 What do you think may be the problem? According to what i've read there is no issues with simple types between .NET (which are converted to standard soap types) and PHP. If it is of use, here it is the WSDL. Thanks in advance <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> - <wsdl:definitions xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/soap/" xmlns:tm="http://microsoft.com/wsdl/mime/textMatching/" xmlns:soapenc="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/" xmlns:mime="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/mime/" xmlns:tns="http://advantage-security.com/" xmlns:s="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:soap12="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/soap12/" xmlns:http="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/http/" targetNamespace="http://advantage-security.com/" xmlns:wsdl="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/"> - <wsdl:types> - <s:schema elementFormDefault="qualified" targetNamespace="http://advantage-security.com/"> - <s:element name="HelloWorld"> - <s:complexType> - <s:sequence> <s:element minOccurs="1" maxOccurs="1" name="entero" type="s:int" /> </s:sequence> </s:complexType> </s:element> - <s:element name="HelloWorldResponse"> - <s:complexType> - <s:sequence> <s:element minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1" name="HelloWorldResult" type="s:string" /> </s:sequence> </s:complexType> </s:element> </s:schema> </wsdl:types> - <wsdl:message name="HelloWorldSoapIn"> <wsdl:part name="parameters" element="tns:HelloWorld" /> </wsdl:message> - <wsdl:message name="HelloWorldSoapOut"> <wsdl:part name="parameters" element="tns:HelloWorldResponse" /> </wsdl:message> - <wsdl:portType name="TestWsSoap"> - <wsdl:operation name="HelloWorld"> <wsdl:input message="tns:HelloWorldSoapIn" /> <wsdl:output message="tns:HelloWorldSoapOut" /> </wsdl:operation> </wsdl:portType> - <wsdl:binding name="TestWsSoap" type="tns:TestWsSoap"> <soap:binding transport="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/http" /> - <wsdl:operation name="HelloWorld"> <soap:operation soapAction="http://advantage-security.com/HelloWorld" style="document" /> - <wsdl:input> <soap:body use="literal" /> </wsdl:input> - <wsdl:output> <soap:body use="literal" /> </wsdl:output> </wsdl:operation> </wsdl:binding> - <wsdl:binding name="TestWsSoap12" type="tns:TestWsSoap"> <soap12:binding transport="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/http" /> - <wsdl:operation name="HelloWorld"> <soap12:operation soapAction="http://advantage-security.com/HelloWorld" style="document" /> - <wsdl:input> <soap12:body use="literal" /> </wsdl:input> - <wsdl:output> <soap12:body use="literal" /> </wsdl:output> </wsdl:operation> </wsdl:binding> - <wsdl:service name="TestWs"> - <wsdl:port name="TestWsSoap" binding="tns:TestWsSoap"> <soap:address location="http://localhost/testws/TestWS.asmx" /> </wsdl:port> - <wsdl:port name="TestWsSoap12" binding="tns:TestWsSoap12"> <soap12:address location="http://localhost/testws/TestWS.asmx" /> </wsdl:port> </wsdl:service> </wsdl:definitions>

  • Moving from WCF RIA Beta to RC: best practices?

    - by Duncan Bayne
I have an existing WCF RIA project built on the Release Candidate; I'm now moving to the Release version & have discovered many changes. David Scruggs made the following comment on his (MSDN) blog: "If you’ve written anything in SIlverlight 4 RIA Services, you’ll need to rewrite it. There has been a lot of refactoring and namespace moves." Having made a brief attempt to compile the old solution with the new RIA framework I'm inclined to agree. My current plan is to: remove the Silverlight Business Application projects from the Solution rebuild the EF4 items from the database create a new Silverlight Business Application project re-add the files (XAML, CS) from the old Silverlight Business Application project Does this sound like a reasonable approach? I think it's cleaner than trying to manually alter the existing project.

  • wcf data service security configuration

    - by Daniel Pratt
I'm in the process of setting up a WCF Data Services web service and I'm trying to sort out the security configuration. Although there's quite a lot of documentation out there for configuring WCF security, a lot of it seems to be outmoded or does not apply to my scenario. Ultimately, I am planning on managing authorization of operations via change interceptors. Thus, all I really need is the simplest way to permit a client to pass credentials along with a request and to be able to authenticate those credentials against either AD or an ASP.NET membership provider (I'd much prefer the latter unless it makes things much more complicated). I'm intending to manage encryption at the transport level (i.e. HTTPS). I'm hoping that the eventual solution does not involve a huge web.config. Likewise, I'd much prefer to avoid writing custom code for the purpose of authentication.

  • How to call web service with Android

    - by BobbyShaftoe
I am having a lot of trouble finding good information on how to call a standard SOAP/WSDL web service with Android. All I've been able to find are either very convoluted documents and references to "kSoap2" and then some bit about parsing it all manually with SAX. ... Ok, that's fine but it's 2008 so I figured there should be some good library for calling standard web services. The Web Service is just basically one created in NetBeans. I would like to have IDE support for generating the plumbing classes. I just need the easiest/most-elegant way to contact a WSDL based web service from an Android based phone. Thanks.

  • Comparison of ASP.Net Reporting Solutions

    - by Brian MacKay
This week my team spent way too much time trying to do simple things in reporting services, and I've decided to start evaluating other options. I know there are some good options out there now that aren't too expensive. I've heard that Telerik, ActiveReports, and a few others are widely used. I was hoping to get some first hand accounts regarding reporting tools that you've used. Specifically, I definitely want to hear your thoughts about: Pain points and gotchas you ran into. Ease of use for report design. It's a little bizarre to me that Access still seems to hold the throne in this area! What's your favorite tool? Anything I've missed that seems important to you. Thanks a lot!

  • WCF performance improvements

    - by Burt
I am developing a WPF application that talks to a server via WCF services over the internet. After profiling the application I noticed a lot of time is being taking up by creating the appropriate WCF client proxy and making the call to the server. The code on the server is optimised and doesn't take any time to run yet I am still seeing a 1.5 second delay from when a service is invloked to it returning to the client. A few points to give a bit of background: I am using the ASP.Net membership for security I will eventually hook into the same server side code through a website I would eventually like to have offline support in the application I really need to nail the performance early though as if the app is taking a couple of seconds to come back it is too long for what I am trying to do. Can anyone suggest performance tips that will help me please?

  • Spring 3 JSON with MVC

    - by stevedbrown
Is there a way to build Spring Web calls that consume and produce application/json formatted requests and responses respectively? Maybe this isn't Spring MVC, I'm not sure. I'm looking for Spring libraries that behave in a similar fashion to Jersey/JSON. The best case would be if there was an annotation that I could add to the Controller classes that would turn them into JSON service calls. A tutorial showing how to build Spring Web Services with JSON would be great. EDIT: I'm looking for an annotation based approach (similar to Jersey). EDIT2: Like Jersey, I am looking for REST support (POST,GET,DELETE,PUT). EDIT3: Most preferably, this will be the pom.xml entries and some information on using the spring-js with jackson Spring native version of things.

  • Web Service to connect to an API and get the response back from the API

    - by Scarlette_June
This is a general Programming question I'm new to Java Web services programming using Apache Axis and JAX-RPC. We need to build 2 components,a App engine (Shopping cart, Payment Gateway integration etc..) and a UI Control Panel over an existing API. The API understands only XML.How we must communicate with the API? link text We have been asked to write a Web Service to establish the communication. Please provide the steps and a Code example/snippet on how to connect to an existing API through a Webservice and get the response back from the API to the calling Webservice. John,I hope I have been able to explain my query. If you have ideas on how to communicate with the API to get the desired result to the user,Please let us know. We have just started our careers in technology a year back post our graduation and this project is our very first Java EE project.

  • client ip address in ASP.NET (.asmx) webservices

    - by Zain Shaikh
I am using ASP.Net (.asmx) web services with Silverlight. since there is no way to find client ip address in Silverlight, therefore I had to log this on service end. these are some methods I have tried: Request.ServerVariables(”REMOTE_HOST”) HttpContext.Current.Request.ServerVariables["REMOTE_ADDR"] HttpContext.Current.Request.ServerVariables["HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR"]; Request.UserHostAddress() Request.UserHostName() string strHostName = System.Net.Dns.GetHostName(); string clientIPAddress = System.Net.Dns.GetHostAddresses(strHostName).GetValue(0).ToString(); All the above methods work fine on my local system, but when I publish my service on production server. it starts giving errors. • Which web containers install themselves well as a Windows service?

    - by Thorbjørn Ravn Andersen
We have had a web application product for several years, and used Tomcat to deploy it under Windows as it registers itself as a Windows service so it starts and stops automatically. We may now happen to need more JEE facilitites than is provided by Tomcat (we are very tempted by the JEE 6 things in the container) so the question is which Open Source JEE containers works well as Windows services. Since Glassfish is the only JEE 6 implementation right now, it would be nice if it works well, but I'd like to hear experiences and not just what I can read from brochures. If not, what else do people use? EDIT: This goes for web containers too, and not just JEE containers. We will probably keep the necessary stack included until we find the right container and it gets JEE6 support. EDIT: I want this to work as distributed. I'm not interested in manually hacking wrappers etc., but want the installation process to handle the creation and removal of the service.

  • Using Silverlight 4 with ODBC

    - by user1384831
I'm completely new to Silverlight and I want to connect to a Netezza database with an ODBC connection and pull records to display nicely in Silverlight. What's the easiest way to do this? From some research, it seems creating a WCF RIA service is what most people do ( http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/354715/Creating-a-WCF-RIA-Services-Class-Library-for-a-Si ) but the process seems a bit convoluted. Coming from an ASP.net background, could I do something simpler like creating an ODBC connection in the code-behind (using System.Data.ODBC functionality), executing a query, storing the returned records in a Datatable and then binding that to some Silverlight control?
