• Design advices for quick navigation between view

  Usually, when a View requires a lot of bindings, or some UI Elements like a Bing Map, it takes a "while" to load (like between half a second and a second). I don't want a delay between a "tap" action (like tapping an element on a ListBox) and the navigation action (displaying a new page). I don't mind displaying the page progressively. For example, for a Bing Map, I don't mind displaying a black page with only a title, and a second later, having the Map appear. What are the best practices ? • Thread processing in EMS connection

  I am setting up a client and exchange project and both are connecting to a remote server. Exchange will connect to the server by EMS connection. While client will connect by FIX. For the aim of building of black box testing, both client and exchange engine will be given some predefined testcases to send and receive to the server. I design the client engine with multithread processing to manipulate many testcases. Actually it is able to run succesfully. For exchange engine, I wonder that multi thread is applicable in the context that the exchange engine just need to publish a message when it received msg from subscribed topic on server.   Regarding the black art of managing memory on iPhone OS devices: what do the different levels of memory warning mean. Level 1? Level 2? Does the dial go to 11? Context: After an extensive memory stress testing period - including running my iPad app with the iPod music player app playing, I am inclined to ignore the random yet infrequent memory warnings I am receiving. • UITextField placeholder looks strange when UITableViewCellSelectionStyleGray

  Hello, I've set the background color of my UITableViewCells to Gray. But if there's a UITextField in the cell, the placeholder doesn't change their color to white/black and it's almost impossible to read it, and look stranges. The UILabel from the cell changes their color when it's selected or not, but the placeholder remains always the same. There's a simple solution ? I don't want to add some UILabel and use it as a placeholder, etc. etc. Thanks, r.

• Getting data from JFrame AFTER the form is filled

  I'm trying to get data for my application from a form set in an external window (getDataWindow extends javax.swing.JFrame). The problem is that functions are executed before form is filled in. getDataWindow dataW=new getDataWindow(); dataW.setVisible(true); size=dataW.returnSize(); I've tried also adding additional boolean variable to getDataWindow getDataWindow dataW=new getDataWindow(); dataW.setVisible(true); while(!dataW.checkIfReady()){wait();} size=dataW.returnSize(); But it makes also the window wait (it appears but it's black inside and nothing happens). I think i should create some threads for that - I've tried to call a window making function getDataWindow in java.awt.EventQueue.invokeLater(new Runnable()) but I had to initialize dataW earlier so dataW.checkIfReady() could be called, so it is a catch 22.

Whenever I open a pdf with: Response.Write("<script>window.open('FilePath');</script>"); All of the font in the page is altered, example, the letter's size increases and some of the letter's colors are switched to black instead of the font that I assigned. • Having a fork match the original repo when the original master branch can't be merged in?

  The related questions that SO offer me only answer simple cases that can be solved with a pull - however, that won't work for my case. There's a repository I've forked, with just a master branch, and I've forked it, and I've worked in both my master, and a new branch of my own, rw-style. The owner of the forked repository's committed some of my changes but not others; the black dots on the top right below represent commits from both my master and rw-style branches. I'm aware using the fork queue is not a good idea, so I'm staying away from it. Using git pull does work, but it creates a conflict that I would then need to resolve, and it also results in duplicate history for my master branch, and that doesn't look particularly pretty. I don't know any other solutions right now, so I'm currently considering just creating a patch from two commits that I haven't yet pushed, deleting my fork, creating it again from the original, and then applying my patches on top of it. Is that the only solution?

• efficient video format/codec for sparse & binary blob tracking

  I am working on a blob tracking project and have many high-definition videos that I would like to reduce in size for storage and downstream tracking/shape-analysis. I want to use a lossless method that takes advantage of the black and white nature of the video as well as the fact that not much is moving between individual frames. The videos are quite sparse, with 5 to 10 b&w blobs per frame occupying <30% of the space in total, with each blob moving <5-10% of the field of view between frames and not changing shape too much between 2-3 frames. I will work in Python, Matlab, or LabView for this project, and could use a batch utility if available. It may be worthwhile to export the files as compressed image stacks if a proper video format can't be found. What are the pros and cons of this? A video codec uses correlations between neighboring frames, so it should be more efficient, but not if the wrong one is chosen or if it is improperly configured.

  Game application is written in C++ and uses DirectX 8. I am getting a maximum monitor resolution to calculate it's aspect ratio. Then I use this value to fix game rendering (scale and set clipping to receive normal 4:3 image with black borders on wide screen monitors). How can I check if monitor is using aspect ratio auto adjustment now? Because my scaling plus monitor scaling makes resulting image overscaled. Thanks EDIT: I saw correct different monitor resolution handling with or without aspect ratio auto adjustment in "Royal Envoy" casual game. But don't know how do they do this.

• Xcode debugger showing assembler for nested classes in a static library

  I have a project A which creates a static library. I have a project B which uses this library. When I am debugging project B, certain functions within project A will display assembler when stepped into or when a breakpoint set inside them is hit. In the debug navigator, the line containing the function is grey instead of black. The strange part is that other functions in the same source file have no problems displaying. The thing that all these functions seem to have in common is that they belong to nested classes. However, I'm not totally convinced that this is the issue since functions from other nested classes display correctly. Does anyone know the cause of this?

  I am trying to write a loop that will cycle through colors and condense the amount of code in my scss file. Here is a simple example of what I have: $color1: blue; $color2: red; $color3: white; $color4: black; .color1-bg { background-color: $color1; } .color2-bg { background-color: $color2; } .color1-border { border-color: $color1; } .color2-border { border-color: $color2; } And so on. I am looking for a way to make the equivalent of a foreach loop, and cycle through an 'array' of colours by index. Something like this: @each $color in $color1, $color2, $color3, $color4 { .{$color}-bg { background-color: $color; .{$color}-border { border-color: $color; } I know the syntax is wrong, but that is my thinking process.   I am designing an image decoder and as a first step I tried to just copy the using c. i.e open the file, and write its contents to a new file. Below is the code that I used. while((c=getc(fp))!=EOF) fprintf(fp1,"%c",c); where fp is the source file and fp1 is the destination file. The program executes without any error, but the image file(".bmp") is not properly copied. I have observed that the size of the copied file is less and only 20% of the image is visible, all else is black. When I tried with simple text files, the copy was complete. Do you know what the problem is?

• Transparent control over WM Player ActiveX component in .NET

  I have a Windows media player activex component in my Form. On top of this WM player i have a picturebox with background color set to transparent. When i set an image for this picturebox , thought the image contains transparent areas it is displayed as black when the picturebox is above the WM player component. Where as if i place the PictureBox somewhere else in the form. The transparent area are rendered properly. So is there anyway that i can place a transparent image on top of a WM Player component. (hmm something like watermark may be). I want this picture to be displayed with may be 50% opacity when the video is playing in WM player control. Will GDI+ be of any use in this case?

• Tabbed application troubles in xcode

  I am working with my first tabbed application in xcode. I am just testing with some stuff since I'm relatively new to programming. I am just using the 2 views already put into the template. I am putting a slider into the first view and am going to attach it to a text box with numbers. But that isn't the problem! This is probably really stupid and simple, but when i run the application just to see the stuff on the simulator, it is just showing a black screen. NO CLUE WHY! But its killing me and would love some help!

• Data 'logger' turning off when phone goes to standbymode

  I'm creating a datalogger which logs the gps data and the sensor data of the phone. I've just a strange problem. If the phone is not touched for few minutes it goes into standby mode (screen goes black), and that causes the logger to stop working. Actually the firewriting in the logger stops working. The GPS resumes fine after coming out of blackscreen, but when I check the log I created it only shows saved points for few minutes. Does anyone have idea what is causing this?

But in CHROME (4.0.249.43) I get a dark black overlay with 100% opacity. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

• Transparent Select/Option text in IE

  I've created the JS fiddle to demonstrate my problem: http://jsfiddle.net/C8NUf/1/ HTML: <select> <option> Test </option> <option> Another Test </option> </select> Style: select { color: transparent; } In chrome, the selected text "test" is properly blanked out by setting the color to transparent, in IE the test is still black. • Using CSS to positon text after an image

  I've trying to do something that I'm sure is simple, but I can't do it. All I want to do is have an image and then some text after that image, and be able to control accurately the amount of space between the image and the text.
