  I am building a swing application. At some point, I have to start an "animation": ... jpanel1.setBackground(Color.Black); Delay(milli) jpanel1.setBackground(Color.White); ... and so on. The gui itself and all the logic behind it work.It is just this time depended color-changing that does not. I have read, that swing is not thread safe, but all the examples I found showed me how to start another thread (for example in the background) but never how to stop the current swing-gui thread.

• C# Keeping DLLs with the associated library

  We have a library built on the back of eldos' Secure Black Box. We use copy local to ensure that the appropriate runtime DLLs are included. If we now reference our library in another project with a copy local our library is copied into the bin folder of our main project but the Eldos SBB libraries aren't. We could reference SBB in the main project but there are no direct calls to SBB so any time the code is refactored the references may be removed as unused. What is the best way of handling this issue? Simon

Then the design of the has changed and instead of black background i got ragial gradient( So, i need to make the corners of the swf transparent, but don't know how. wmode=transparent and backgroudAlpha param doesn't work. Need some help... :/ It's important that one solution i found works on Flash Builder Beta 2, but didn't work on Adobe flash builder 4.

• Non-deprecated replacement for NSCalibratedBlackColorSpace?

  I'm implementing my own NSBitmapImageRep (to draw PBM image files). To draw them, I'm using NSDrawBitmap() and passing it the NSCalibratedBlackColorSpace (as the bits are 1 for black, 0 for white). Trouble is, I get the following warning: warning: 'NSCalibratedBlackColorSpace' is deprecated However, I couldn't find a good replacement for it. NSCalibratedWhiteColorSpace gives me an inverted image, and there seems to be no way to get NSDrawBitmap() to use a CGColorSpaceRef or NSColorSpace that I could create as a custom equivalent to NSCalibratedBlackColorSpace. I've found a (hacky) way to shut up the warning (so I can still build warning-free until a replacement becomes available) by just passing @"NSCalibratedBlackColorSpace" instead of the symbolic constant, but I'd rather apply a correct fix. Anybody have an idea?

• plot only x and y axis (no box) in ggplot2

  The convention of some journals is to show only the x and y axis in a plot not a box around the entire plot area. How can I achieve this in ggplot2?   I'm setting setting FIrst view controller which will appear on my App Startup. It should appear an UIView first time as a tutorial and, from second time, another standard view. • DrawString only works in top-left part of form vb.net

My problem is that it will ONLY draw the string in the upper-left portion of the form, roughly 260x260 starting at 0,0. It literally cuts off the text if it goes beyond. Why is this? Shouldn't it work for the entire form?

For the aim of building of black box testing, both client and exchange engine will be given some predefined testcases to send and receive to the server. I design the client engine with multithread processing to manipulate many testcases. Actually it is able to run succesfully. For exchange engine, I wonder that multi thread is applicable in the context that the exchange engine just need to publish a message when it received msg from subscribed topic on server. • Design advices for quick navigation between view

  Usually, when a View requires a lot of bindings, or some UI Elements like a Bing Map, it takes a "while" to load (like between half a second and a second). I don't want a delay between a "tap" action (like tapping an element on a ListBox) and the navigation action (displaying a new page). I don't mind displaying the page progressively. For example, for a Bing Map, I don't mind displaying a black page with only a title, and a second later, having the Map appear. What are the best practices ?   Regarding the black art of managing memory on iPhone OS devices: what do the different levels of memory warning mean. Level 1? Level 2? Does the dial go to 11? Context: After an extensive memory stress testing period - including running my iPad app with the iPod music player app playing, I am inclined to ignore the random yet infrequent memory warnings I am receiving. • UITextField placeholder looks strange when UITableViewCellSelectionStyleGray

  Hello, I've set the background color of my UITableViewCells to Gray. But if there's a UITextField in the cell, the placeholder doesn't change their color to white/black and it's almost impossible to read it, and look stranges. The UILabel from the cell changes their color when it's selected or not, but the placeholder remains always the same. There's a simple solution ? I don't want to add some UILabel and use it as a placeholder, etc. etc. Thanks, r.

• Having a fork match the original repo when the original master branch can't be merged in?

  The related questions that SO offer me only answer simple cases that can be solved with a pull - however, that won't work for my case. There's a repository I've forked, with just a master branch, and I've forked it, and I've worked in both my master, and a new branch of my own, rw-style. The owner of the forked repository's committed some of my changes but not others; the black dots on the top right below represent commits from both my master and rw-style branches. I'm aware using the fork queue is not a good idea, so I'm staying away from it. Using git pull does work, but it creates a conflict that I would then need to resolve, and it also results in duplicate history for my master branch, and that doesn't look particularly pretty. I don't know any other solutions right now, so I'm currently considering just creating a patch from two commits that I haven't yet pushed, deleting my fork, creating it again from the original, and then applying my patches on top of it. Is that the only solution?

• Getting data from JFrame AFTER the form is filled

  I'm trying to get data for my application from a form set in an external window (getDataWindow extends javax.swing.JFrame). The problem is that functions are executed before form is filled in. getDataWindow dataW=new getDataWindow(); dataW.setVisible(true); size=dataW.returnSize(); I've tried also adding additional boolean variable to getDataWindow getDataWindow dataW=new getDataWindow(); dataW.setVisible(true); while(!dataW.checkIfReady()){wait();} size=dataW.returnSize(); But it makes also the window wait (it appears but it's black inside and nothing happens). I think i should create some threads for that - I've tried to call a window making function getDataWindow in java.awt.EventQueue.invokeLater(new Runnable()) but I had to initialize dataW earlier so dataW.checkIfReady() could be called, so it is a catch 22.

• efficient video format/codec for sparse & binary blob tracking

  I am working on a blob tracking project and have many high-definition videos that I would like to reduce in size for storage and downstream tracking/shape-analysis. I want to use a lossless method that takes advantage of the black and white nature of the video as well as the fact that not much is moving between individual frames. The videos are quite sparse, with 5 to 10 b&w blobs per frame occupying <30% of the space in total, with each blob moving <5-10% of the field of view between frames and not changing shape too much between 2-3 frames. I will work in Python, Matlab, or LabView for this project, and could use a batch utility if available. It may be worthwhile to export the files as compressed image stacks if a proper video format can't be found. What are the pros and cons of this? A video codec uses correlations between neighboring frames, so it should be more efficient, but not if the wrong one is chosen or if it is improperly configured.

• Xcode debugger showing assembler for nested classes in a static library

  I have a project A which creates a static library. I have a project B which uses this library. When I am debugging project B, certain functions within project A will display assembler when stepped into or when a breakpoint set inside them is hit. In the debug navigator, the line containing the function is grey instead of black. The strange part is that other functions in the same source file have no problems displaying. The thing that all these functions seem to have in common is that they belong to nested classes. However, I'm not totally convinced that this is the issue since functions from other nested classes display correctly. Does anyone know the cause of this?

  Game application is written in C++ and uses DirectX 8. I am getting a maximum monitor resolution to calculate it's aspect ratio. Then I use this value to fix game rendering (scale and set clipping to receive normal 4:3 image with black borders on wide screen monitors). How can I check if monitor is using aspect ratio auto adjustment now? Because my scaling plus monitor scaling makes resulting image overscaled. Thanks EDIT: I saw correct different monitor resolution handling with or without aspect ratio auto adjustment in "Royal Envoy" casual game. But don't know how do they do this.
