  Team Foundation Server 2008 allows that every check-in is associated with a work item, but what do you do if you are developing some features which span several Team Projects? For example, you're developing a specific product for a client and that product has its own Team Project, but is also using some of your other components or tools which are maintained independently in another Team Project. Where do you create work items for requirements which involve a change in both projects? Separated, every work item in its own Team Projects All work items in clients Team Project, regardless of associated source code The latter seems easier to maintain and control, but it involves associating check-ins from one Team Project to work items in another.

• SQL Server Reporting Services Bar Chart

  I am trying to create horizontal bar chart to look like a pill chart. I would like to take a either a stacked bar chart or a 100% stacked bar chart and put rounded ends onto this chart. I would only be using 1 row within the chart. One idea I had was just putting rounded images on either end of the chart to accomplish this but I'm not sure that this will give the smooth feel of a single pill. Does anyone have a good suggestion? I am not tied to the idea of using a chart object. But I would prefer to stay away from third party components that need to be purchased.

• DNS Lookup in ASP.Net

  I have a Windows server that is intermittently losing the ability to lookup DNS information. I'm trying to get to the root cause of the problem but in the mean time I'd like to be able to monitor whether the server can perform lookups. Basically, it should attempt to lookup some common hostnames and the display 'Success' if the lookups are successful. I see lots of examples of doing this with third party components in ASP.NET but I would prefer to be able to do this with a single ASP.Net script that would be portable and not require anything additional be installed.

• How to change default font in netbeans platform?

  I'd like to know how to change the default font used in netbeans platform. I'm not asking for changing the font in the Netbeans IDE but in the platform, then all my derived applications would use this default font. A netbeans application is a group of Jcomponent so i could easily set the font of each of those components but there is still things like notifications that i can't access directly to change the font, so i think the best would be to change the font by default. Programmaticaly or any other way... maybe editing one the jar?

• Delphi : Restore a pre-design tabsheet after user has closed it...

  Hello, I have a tPageControl on a form, and have made a nice 'welcome page' as a new ttabsheet at design time for the user to start off with. However, if the user closes this tab, I would like the option to bring it back, as it was in originally (much like the welcome page in the Delphi IDE). This seems like a simple problem... When the tab closes, the original sheet is freed and set nil. I tried creating the sheet again by name (e.g. tabsheet1 := ttabsheet.create) and assigning it to the pagecontrol, but none of the original components from the sheet are there anymore... I know designing the welcome page as a separate form, creating it when I need it and slapping it into a new tabsheet would work... but I was just wondering if there was a way to do it with the design time tabsheet. It trying to search string getter setter for contract_end_date. So is there is any solution to handle this kind of problem.   In my CoreData Application, I've an outline view on left of main window, acting as source list (like iTunes); on the right I display a proper view, based on outline selection. Each view has its components, such as table view, connected to array controller, owned by the specific view. Very often different views display same data, for example, a table view of the same entity. From a performance point of view, is better to have a single array controller per entity and share it between all views or does CoreData cache avoid memory waste?

• Catch unhandled exception of invisible thread

  In my C++ application i use an activeX component that runs its own thread (or several I don't know). Sometimes this components throws exceptions. I would like to catch these exceptions and do recovery instead of my entire application crashing. But since I don't have access to its source code or thread I am unsure how it would be done. The only solution I can think of is to run it in its own process. Using something like CreateProcess and then CreateRemoteThread, unsure how it could be implemented. Any suggestion on how to go about solving this?

• Protobuf compiler for several languages

  Hi, In my project I have components written on Python, ObjectiveC and J2ME. I want to use protobuf as data interchange format. However, there are one issue I need to resolve. Google implementation doesn't support ObjC and J2ME. There are 3rd party implementations that supports those languages. But I really don't want to be depended of several protoc implementations. What is the best way for me to have protobufs for several languages? Do I need to use different compilers or there is other option? Thanks, -Lev

• Manipulating excel "autoshapes" with VBA

  I am trying to write a macro in VBA (Excel) that is assigned to a Checkbox. Whenever the checkbox is clicked, an "autoshape" will change its "order" from "Send to Back" to "Send to Front". Basically, I am trying to create a dashboard with multiple panels, so that users can access information without moving between sheets. Each panel will have a rectangular autoshape as its background and the components of the panel will be "grouped" within the autoshape. Can this be done?   I'm trying to render a component from withing another component. public override void Render() // ... var block = new Block(); block.Init(EngineContext, Context); block.Render(); // ... } The problem is that Block component can't find it's template. ResourceProcessingException Message: Unable to process resource 'components\CustomReportComponentComponent\default.vm': Resource could not be located I guess, other problems can arise because the component is not properly initialized. Is it possible to initialize a component from within another component's Render method, so it renders just as if called from a .vm?

• Incorporation of YUI 3 in rails

  I was wondering if any effort has been made towards integration of YUI3 with rails asset pipeline. By integration, I don't just mean a couple of helpers for including the library but rather a complete integration of YUI module loader. I'll elaborate the idea in detail: Currently, developers developing modules using YUI rely on Ant tasks for concatenating the module components and wrapping them up with some associated metadata and generating target files ( and optionally minifying and running jslint). Also, when fetching the modules, the YUI loader calculates the module dependencies and generates a single file comprising of all the dependencies which havent been included already in the page. I was wondering if the whole functionality could be seamlessly integrated into the Asset pipeline of rails.

I know that I must use Dispatcher to make reflect something to UI. But in this case I just create an object and dont iteract with UI. • Pyjamas import statements

  I'm starting to use Pyjamas and I'm running into some annoyances. I have to import a lot of stuff to make a script work well. For example, to make a button I need to first from pyjamas.ui.Button import Button and then I can use Button. Note that import pyjamas.ui.Button and then using Button.Button doesn't work (results in errors when you build to JavaScript, at least in 0.7pre1). Does anyone have a better example of a good way to do the import statements in Pyjamas than what the Pyjamas folks have on their site? Doing things their way is possible, but ugly and overly complicated from my perspective, especially when you want to use a dozen or more ui components.

  Our team builds a .NET 3.5 WinForms based application that we'd like to migrate to the latest .NET version (4.5). Our application uses many "external" components (can be thought of as plugins) that are also currently .NET 3.5 based. I'd like to know what runtime/core libraries are used in case we convert ONLY THE APPLICATION to compile using .NET 4.5? Should this scenario properly work? (loading .NET 3.5 assemblies in a 4.5 process)? * The plugin assemblies are loaded via reflection. How does the CLR runtime handle such a scenario? is this a safe practice?

• Is there any way to get all the controls on a container control?

  I've got a form with a bunch of controls on it, and I wanted to iterate through all the controls on a certain panel and enable/disable them. I tried this: var component: TComponent; begin for component in myPanel do (component as TControl).Enabled := Value; end; But that did nothing. Turns out all components are in the form's component collection, not their parent object's. So does anyone know if there's any way to get all the controls inside a control? (Besides an ugly workaround like this, which is what I ended up having to do): var component: TComponent; begin for component in myPanel do if (component is TControl) and (TControl(component).parent = myPanel) then TControl(component).Enabled := Value; end; Someone please tell me there's a better way...

  I am building a set of class libraries that produce office open xml based reports and I am using a static Windsor IoC container. My problem is that one possible entry point to the reporting system is via a web front end which means that the reporting systems static IoC Container is being shared amongst multiple web requests which causes exceptions as for each new request the reporting system is trying re-register components in Windsor that were already registered by an earlier request. I dont want to move the registration into the web app global.asax as my reporting system will no longer be stand-alone. How can I have a Windsor IoC container that can be shared amongst my reporting classes but not shared across multiple web requests?

It runs only once and then app exit automatically. If i comment out all the code and just write NSLog(@"test"); then application works ok, it logs "test" after each 1 sec.
