  How do I accumulate values in t-SQL? AFAIK there is no ARRAY type. I want to reuse the values like demonstrated in this PostgreSQL example using array_agg(). • Moving a lotus database causes incoming mail failure

  Hey all, I moved a couple lotus note databases to another hd (ran out of space) by using a directory link/pointer on the domino server. USed a text file with the .DIR ext with the desired new path etc... well that works fine. I open up a lotus notes client, use the id and then OPEN the database. The directory link works fine, the new location of the db is opened with no problems. We found out that we couldnt FORWARD any mail: We did the following to make it work: Goto menu FILE|MOBILE|EDIT CURRENT LOCATION Goto tab MAIL and enter the correct path for "Mail File:" example: it should read "mail\morespace\flabor" and not "mail\flabor" "morespace" = directory link/pointer we can forward and reply to emails fine after that fix. The problem is that the user has no incoming email. Domino is still trying to send the incoming mail of that user to its old db location "mail\flabor" instead of "mail\morespace\flabor". Delivery error saying user does not exist. Is this a cache problem? We have reset the server ("Q" at the prompt), though we have not completely shut it down though. Thanks Frank

  I am new to git and recently set up a new account with github. I'm following a rails tutorial from Michael Hartl online ( http://www.railstutorial.org/book#fig:github_first_page ) and followed his instructions to set up my git which were also inline with the setup instructions at github. Anyways, the "Next Steps" section on github were: mkdir sample_app cd sample_app git init touch README git add README git commit -m 'first commit' git remote add origin [email protected]:rosdabos55/sample_app.git git push origin master I got all the way to the last instruction (git push origin master) without any problem. When I entered that last line into my terminal, however, I got this error message: "fatal: No path specified. See 'man git-pull' for valid url syntax." What might I be doing wrong?

  Since someone here is a bit hot-headed and deleted my last question ill post a new one with a title to better please his ego...Hows this Michael? Anyways, im getting this error when i compile: Undefined symbols: "_OBJC_CLASS_$_SortedItems", referenced from: __objc_classrefs__DATA@0 in SortedByNameTableDataSource.o ld: symbol(s) not found collect2: ld returned 1 exit status Basically i followed apples "TheElements" sample app to create the singleton, tableview datasource and just changed some stuff around to suit my needs - ive triple checked all my code and cannot figure out why im getting this.. If anyone can help please do, it would be much appreciated. if more of my code is needed ill post.. let me know

  Recently, I was confused by the std::map operator[] function. In the MSDN library, it says: "If the argument key value is not found, then it is inserted along with the default value of the data type." I tryed to search much more exactly explanation for this issue. For example here: std::map default value In this page, Michael Anderson said that "the default value is constructed by the default constructor(zero parameter constructor)". Now my quest comes to this:"what the default value for the build-in type?". Was it compiler related? Or is there a standard for this issue by the c++ stardard committee? I did a test on visual studio 2008 for the "int" type, and found the "int" type is construted with the value 0.

• Building XCode From Command Line Issues (Updating Entitlements file location)

  The first error is a warning for complier 'com.apple.compilers.gcc.4_0' I don't know if this is okay and I can just not worry about it. The second tells me that my entitlements file is no longer at that location. I know this and I thought I had correctly updated it in Xcode's info window. This project builds fine in Xcode. • In a Shell scripts, check version of installed package, make a decision based on output

  Looking to write a cross distro / cross version shell script that makes sure a forced version of PHP is installed Example: Ubuntu 12.04 has 5.3, Ubuntu 13.10 has 5.5, Debian 7 has 5.4 I need this script, when run on a distro that has an old version of PHP, to update the repo to point to a package for 5.4, and if the distro has too new of a version, can downgrade to 5.4 appropriately. Im still not entirely comprehensive of Shell/Terminals technical limit of what you can do with it, but ill be perfectly frank that im still not totally used to existing tools The best I can think at the moment is: php -v | grep "PHP 5" but that returns a bunch of potentially changeable granular characters (PHP 5.4.4-14+deb7u5 (cli) (built: Oct 3 2013 09:24:58) ). Im not sure what to pipe to after this to extract out the characters im interested in Im not sure if im being totally clear, im not sure how to ask this.. Basically, in an automated shell script for Linux distros, how do I extract the PHP version (and just the PHP version number preferably) and make a decision based on that output EDIT This line ended up doing pretty dang good php -v | grep "PHP 5" | sed 's/.*PHP \([^-]*\).*/\1/' | cut -c 1-3 Bit long in the tooth, but gives me "5.3", "5.4", and "5.5" which is exactly what I need to work with

  I was reading about the new concurrent collection classes in .NET 4 on James Michael Hare's blog, and the page talking about ConcurrentQueue<T> says: It’s still recommended, however, that for empty checks you call IsEmpty instead of comparing Count to zero. I'm curious - if there is a reason to use IsEmpty instead of comparing Count to 0, why does the class not internally check IsEmpty and return 0 before doing any of the expensive work to count? E.g.: public int Count { get { // Check IsEmpty so we can bail out quicker if (this.IsEmpty) return 0; // Rest of "expensive" counting code } } It seems strange to suggest this if it could be "fixed" so easily with no side-effects?

But only the Animals table has records, Dogs and "Humen" do not for some reason. Is there some steps missing?

  Hey, so I am a novice programmer who has only worked with HTML, CSS, and a touch of Java a couple of years ago. I am looking to try to get a social network site up and running on Ruby on Rails and was looking at RailsSpace: Building a Social Networking Website with Ruby on Rails (Addison-Wesley Professional Ruby Series) - Paperback (July 30, 2007) by Michael Hartl. This was published in 2007, however, and the newer reviews say it is not very helpful. Does anyone know if there are any new publications out there that walk you through building a social network site while teaching you the code(rather than just using a out of the box program)? Thanks

• How can I create numbered map markers in Google Maps V3?

  I'm working on a map that has multiple markers on it. These markers use a custom icon, but I'd also like to add numbers on top. I've seen how this has been accomplished using older versions of the API. How can I do this in V3? *Note -- the "title" attribute creates a tooltip when you mouseover the marker, but I want something that will be layered on top of the custom image even when you're not hovering on top of it.   I am using the title helper from the 3.2 edition of the Ruby on Rails Tutorial by Michael Hartl and just realized a snag with the & character showing up in the title as &Amp instead. The relevant snippet of code is here Official Sample App 2nd Edition The problem. I have a School model and am using the School name on the Show view as follows: <% provide(:title, @school.name) %> If my School has a & in the name, it is being replaced with &Amp in the browser title. Ryan Bates Railscasts site has a similiar title helper that solves this issue this way but it is using content_for instead of provide. Trying to adjust the Rails Tutorial helper, but having trouble getting it work properly. Works great expect for this issue.

Is it possible to integrate similar functionality into a Wordpress blog? Are the relevant API's open? Are there any plugins available? Thanks.   I am looking for an example of how to use the new DataServiceState Save and Restore methods in a WP7 application in order to tombstone a datacontext - I cannot find any examples and the approach I used resulted in an exception this saves the data context correctly PhoneApplicationService.Current.State["DataContext"] = DataServiceState.Save(this.Model.Entities); this attempts to restore it after the app is re-activated var dc = (PhoneApplicationService.Current.State["DataContext"] as DataServiceState).Restore(); but throws an exception An item could not be added to the collection. When items in a DataServiceCollection are tracked by the DataServiceContext, new items cannot be added before items have been loaded into the collection. This is the same exception I get if I try to reload a datacontext that I stored "directly" (without using the DataServiceState.Save method) in the PhoneApplicationService.Current.State. I cannot find any offical documentation on the new ODATA v2 DataServiceState class or examples. thanks Michael

  Hi, I'm starting a new project and I'm looking into using a dependency container (Castle Windsor) to help when it comes to unit testing. One of the things that is a little frustrating is that after I've finished using an object I have to tell the container to "release" the object. I understand the reasoning behind doing this, but it's still cumbersome to have to remember to do this. So, my question is, is there a way I can make the "releasing" of an object automatic so I don't have to remember to release it? Kind Regards Michael

• How to batch retrieve documents with mongoDB?

  Hello everyone, I have an application that queries data from a mongoDB using the mongoDB C# driver something like this: public void main() { foreach (int i in listOfKey) { list.add(getObjectfromDB(i); } } public myObject getObjFromDb(int primaryKey) { document query = new document(); query["primKey"] = primaryKey; document result= mongo["myDatabase"]["myCollection"].findOne(query); return parseObject(result); } On my local (development) machine to get 100 object this way takes less than a second. However, I recently moved the database to a server on the internet, and this query takes about 30 seconds to execute for the same number of object. Furthermore, looking at the mongoDB log, it seems to open about 8-10 connections to the DB to perform this query. So what I'd like to do is have the query the database for an array of primaryKeys and get them all back at once, then do the parsing in a loop afterwards, using one connection if possible. How could I optimize my query to do so? Thanks, --Michael

So the end result would start the entire list over again with Santa at the top. Does that make any sense?   Hi I do have three dlls. a.dll - released many years ago b.dll - released not so many years c.dll - released shortly Each one contains the same function - unfortunatelly with different parameters. so I do have the following Methods aMethod(param1) aMethod(param1, param2) aMethod(param1, param2, param3) My Task is to make a new dll (or new dlls) wich is backward compatible. But as far as I've learned from Google there is no possibility to overload methods in a dll. Does any one have a tip how I can solve this problem elegantly? -- Michael

• Deterministic random number generator with context?

  I am looking for a seeded random number generator that creates a pool of numbers as a context. It doesn't have to be too good. It is used for a game, but it is important, that each instance of the Game Engine has it's own pool of numbers, so that different game instances or even other parts of the game that use random numbers don't break the deterministic character of the generated numbers. Currently I am using rand() which obviously doesn't have this feature. Are there any c or objective-c generators that are capable of doing what I want? Best regards, Michael

  I'm getting stuck on an error I'm getting when signing up a new user in Michael Hart's Ruby on Rails Tutorial. I'm new to rails but I've been searching for hours and can't seem to find anything to figure out the issue. There are a variety of tools available to help you and Support diagnose SOA Suite issues in 11g but it can be confusing as to which tool is appropriate for a particular situation and what their relationships are. This blog post will introduce the various tools and attempt to clarify what each is for and how they are related. Let's first list the tools we'll be addressing: RDA: Remote Diagnostic Agent DFW: Diagnostic Framework Selective Tracing DMS: Dynamic Monitoring Service ODL: Oracle Diagnostic Logging ADR: Automatic Diagnostics Repository ADRCI: Automatic Diagnostics Repository Command Interpreter WLDF: WebLogic Diagnostic Framework This overview is not mean to be a comprehensive guide on using all of these tools, however, extensive reference materials are included that will provide many more details on their execution. Another point to note is that all of these tools are applicable for Fusion Middleware as a whole but specific products may or may not have implemented features to leverage them. A couple of the tools have a WebLogic Scripting Tool or 'WLST' interface. WLST is a command interface for executing pre-built functions and custom scripts against a domain. A detailed WLST tutorial is beyond the scope of this post but you can find general information here. The BDD demonstration uses a case study-based approach to highlight a business problem at a fictional company, Avitek Corporation, and uses Oracle BPM and Oracle WebCenter to solve the business problem. This holistic approach has specifically been used to appeal to a non-technical business analyst user. This demo is NOT focused on product features, but aims to guide users through a complete BPM lifecycle. The scenario is based on improving a simple order process (scenario details are in the demo script). Avitek Corporation is sufferinng from a manual email-driven ordering process. Sales reps don’t know where the customer orders are stuck (no visibility) and finance users are unable to manually approve every order (no automation). There are several areas where this process can be improved with Business Process Management technology. This demo shows how improving following areas will ignificantly help resolve the business problems Avitek Corporation is facing. Areas for improvement include: Utilizing BPM for process management, rather than an unregulated, email-based process. Utilizing automated services, rather than requiring a human to key into a system. For example, Finance checking the customer’s credit rating is something that could be automated. Centralizing business rules that can be integrated into a business process, rather than requiring a human to process them. For example, Finance must determine when orders can be automatically approved. Provide insight and visibility into the process.
