  • Error creating Google Calendar

    Hi, I'm trying to use the Google Calendar Java API to create a secondary calendar for a Google apps user. The relevant code is: // Initialise the API client CalendarService googleCalendar = new GCalendarService("canimo.ca"); googleCalendar.setUserCredentials("[email protected]", "secret"); // Create the calendar CalendarEntry cal = new CalendarEntry(); cal.title = new PlainTextConstruct(user.email); cal.summary = new PlainTextConstruct("Collection calendar"); cal.timeZone = new TimeZoneProperty("America/Montreal"); cal.hidden = HiddenProperty.FALSE; googleCalendar.insert(CALENDAR_URL, calendar); The call to insert() above results in com.google.gdata.util.ServiceException: Internal Server Error and no calendar is created. If I try and perform the same operation through the Google calendar website, it also fails with the error message: We could not save changes. Please try again in a few minutes. An obvious conclusion is that there's some problem on Google's side, but this has been going on for several days now. Strangely, if I create a new user, everything works fine for a while. I can create calendars via the website, and download them via the API. But as soon as I try and create a new calendar using the API, I get the exception above, and thereafter can't create new calendars using either the website or the API. Thanks, Don

    I've been looking into writing a web app that will run on Google App Engine, but before I commit myself to the platform I'd like to know what, if any, limitations there are. I'm aware of the basic CPU/bandwidth restrictions that Google places on the free service, but I'm wondering more about development restrictions like how BigTable compares to a standard relational database and what Python libraries aren't available on the GAE platform (and what alternatives Google provides). Basically I'm looking for any hidden roadblocks before I commit to the platform. Thanks for your help!

    Hi, I am building an app on top of Google Reader. Since users have to enter their Google Account data, I'd like to use this data to assign personal settings to each user. However, if I do so and a user would change his email adress or password(for the whole Google Account), I wouldn't be able to identify him anymore. Thus, I need to know if there's a Google Account ID or something that I can use to identify users regardless of an email adress or password. Thanks for your help!

    I need to get an App Engine app talking to and sharing data with an external database, The best option i can come up with is outputting the external database data to an xml file and then processing this in my app engine app and storing it inside the datastore, although the data being shared is sensitive data such as login details so outputting this to an xml file is not exactly a great idea, is it possible for the app engine app to directly query the database? or is there a secure option for using xml files? oh and im using python/django and the external database will be hosted on another domain

  • Two Applications using the same index file with Hibernate Search

    Hi, I want to know if it is possible to use the same index file for an entity in two applications. Let me be more specific: We have an online Application with a frondend for the users and an application for the backend tasks (= administrator interface). Both are running on the same JBOSS AS. Both Applications are using the same database, so they are using the same entities. Of course the package names are not the same in both applications for the entities. So this is our usecase: A user should be able to search via the frondend. The user is only allowed to see results which are tagged with "visible". This tagging happens in our admin interface, so the index for the frontend should be updated every time an entity is tagged as "visible" in the backend. Of course both applications do have the same index root folder. In my index folder there are 2 index files: de.x.x.admin.model.Product de.x.x.frondend.model.Product How to "merge" this via Hibernate Search Configuration? I just did not get it via the documentation... Thanks for any help!

    Hello, I've been having problems with the infoWindows and Google Maps API v3. Initially, I've ran into the problem that everyone else has of closing infoWindows when opening a new one. I thought to have solved the problem by defining "infowindow" beforehand. Now they close when I click on a new marker, but the content is the same. How should I re-structure my code to make sure the content is the right one each time - and only one infoWindow is open at a given time? Thank you!     Consider I have the following models - class Team(db.Model): # say I have just 5 teams name = db.StringProperty() class Player(db.Model): # say I have thousands of players name = db.StringProperty() team = db.ReferenceProperty(Team, collection_name="player_set") Key name for each Team entity = 'team_' , and for each Player entity = 'player_' By some prior arrangement I have a Team entity's (key_name, name) mapping available to me. For example (team_01, United States Of America), (team_02, Russia) etc I have to show all the players and their teams on a page. One way of doing this would be - players = Player.all().fetch(1000) # This is 1 DB read for player in players: # This will iterate 1000 times self.response.out.write(player.name) # This is obviously not a DB read self.response.out.write(player.team.name) #This is a total of 1x1000 = 1000 DB reads That is a 1001 DB reads for a silly thing. The interesting part is that when I do a db.to_dict() on players, it shows that for every player in that list there is 'name' of the player and there is the 'key_name' of the team available too. So how can I do the below ?? players = Player.all().fetch(1000) # This is 1 DB read for player in players: # This will iterate 1000 times self.response.out.write(player.name) # This is obviously not a DB read self.response.out.write(team_list[player.<SOME WAY OF GETTING TEAM KEY NAME>]) # Here 'team_list' already has (key_name, name) for all 5 teams I have been struggling with this for a long time. Have read every available documentation. I could just hug the person that can help me here :-) Disclaimer: The above problem description is not a real scenario. It is a simplified arrangement that represents my problem exactly. I have run into it in a rater complex and big GAE appication.

Can I have the picture URL from the openid proccess? with OAuth I cant'seem to find the right scope to retrieve this information... See this link: http://code.google.com/apis/gdata/docs/directory.html there is a list of scopes that you can fetch with REST api to google and I didnt't see the one related to the profile. Btw, I am using PHP and the openid is already working, but didn't start with the oauth untill I know if I can(and need) retrieve the picture (because email and name already comes within the openid proccess) thanks, Joe

    Trying to show Google Maps using the Durandal. I'm now simply working with Durandal HTML Starter Kit so the other modules and all engine works properly. The thing is when I added the Google Map it doesn't fit the div size (the big part of div is just grey). As I understand, the problem is causing because Google Maps added before page is completely loaded. But I can't figure out how can I hook on page load event.     hi, in my application ( kind of wiki clone ) - an article is frequently changing. and i need to track all changes that are done on that article. { text only. } one crude way i have done it, is to add a datetime property and create a new entity everytime something change. which is too much database wasting. { and also un-necessary index waste too. } and also need to re-create parent-child and entity relationships. i also have log which can show changes -- but i want some thing easier , so that jumping from one version to another version could be easier. ideas ? thanks.

    Hi I need to integrate google checkout on my website. I have successfully implemented the order placing and others stuff and using the sandbox I have tested that users can successfully add items to cart and and pay thereafter. I am using my own customized shopping cart written in php mysql. The last thing I need to do is pass the new order id to google checkout and receive notifications with the new order id as well as other data google sends. I know I have to setup a path to the handler script in my accounts. I did it in my sandbox account as well. But can't find a simple pice of code to get it done. Even if I use sample code from google, just cant figure out the format of the returned data in new order notification and also how to send custom data to the cart, which would come back with new order notifications? I am just lost on this. Please help!

My question is: is there any advantage in coding against the JPA or JDO specs instead of accessing directly the low level api for datastore ?
