  • The best way to do :not in jQuery?

    Hi, I have a menu in jQuery when you click on a link it opens up, but I want it so when you click somewhere else, anywhere else that is not the menu, it becomes hidden. At the moment I'm binding a click event to $(':not(#the_menu)') But this seems like I'm binding a click event to the entire minus the menu, is there a more efficient way of doing something like this?

  • In Javascript, is it true that function aliasing works as long as the function being aliased doesn't

    In Javascript, if we are aliasing a function, such as in: f = g; f = obj.display; obj.f = foo; all the 3 lines above, they will work as long as the function / method on the right hand side doesn't touch this? Since we are passing in all the arguments, the only way it can mess up is when the function / method on the right uses this? Actually, line 1 is probably ok if g is also a property of window? If g is referencing obj.display, then the same problem is there. In line 2, when obj.display touches this, it is to mean the obj, but when f() is invoked, the this is window, so they are different. In line 3, it is the same: when f() is invoked inside of obj's code, then the this is obj, while foo might be using this to refer to window if it were a property of window. (global function). So line 2 can be written as f = function() { obj.display.apply(obj, arguments) } and line 3: obj.f = function() { foo.apply(window, arguments) } Is this the correct method, and are there there other methods besides this?

Why does it go to the constructor :D I didn't tell it to go there. I can make a deeper analysis and see where it goes to the constructor if you want. By the way, changedComponentIndex is a static variable.

    Hello all, I have a data frame in R that looks like this: > TimeOffset, Source, Length > 0 1 1500 > 0.1 1 1000 > 0.2 1 50 > 0.4 2 25 > 0.6 2 3 > 1.1 1 1500 > 1.4 1 18 > 1.6 2 2500 > 1.9 2 18 > 2.1 1 37 > ... and I want to convert it to > TimeOffset, Source, Length > 0.2 1 2550 > 0.6 2 28 > 1.4 1 1518 > 1.9 2 2518 > ... Trying to put this into English, I want to group consecutive records with the same 'Source' together, then printing out a single record per group showing the highest time offset in that group, the source, and the sum of the lengths in that group. The TimeOffset values will always increase. I suspect this is possible in R, but I really don't know where to start. In a pinch I could export the data frame out and do it in e.g. Python, but I'd prefer to stay within R if possible. Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide

Trying to put this into English, I want to group consecutive records with the same 'Source' and 'Target' together, then print out a single record per group showing the StartTime, EndTime & Duration (=EndTime-StartTime) for that group, along with the sum of the Lengths for that group, and a concatenation of the Content (which will all be strings) in that group. I had a look at melt/recast and have a feeling that it could be used to solve the problem, but couldn't get my head around the documentation. There is a many to many relationship that has a primary key in one table that corresponds to a comma separated list in another. FK_ID | data ------------- 1,2 | foo 3 | bar 1,3,2 | blarg Is there a way to output the FK_ID field with each comma separated element as a single line in the result set? result set FK_ID | data ------------- 1 | foo 2 | foo 3 | bar 1 | blarg 2 | blarg 3 | blarg I'm thinking this would require some sort of recursive query which I don't think mysql has.   • a value that shows in select mode disappears in edit mode from a gridview column

    Hi, I have a strange problem. To detect outgoing calls I have registered a broadcast receiver for android.intent.action.PHONE_STATE. When the state becomes OFFHOOK, then a conversation is started. It seems working on emulator: the debugger in fact reaches some code while it doesn't work on real device (Acer Liquid). Is it possible? Which is a way to detect outgoing calls? Thanks

    Hi, I'm wondering if there's some clever way in MySQL to return a "mixed/balanced" dataset according to a specific criterion? To illustrate, let's say that there are potential results in a table that can be of Type 1 or Type 2 (i.e. a column has a value 1 or 2 for each record). Is there a clever query that would be able to directly return results alternating between 1 and 2 in sequence: 1st record is of type 1, 2nd record is of type 2, 3rd record is of type 1, 4th record is of type 2, etc... Apologies if the question is silly, just looking for some options. Of course, I could return any data and do this in PHP, but it does add some code. Thanks.
