  • Can i upload my apk to SD Card instead of internal storage?

    - by Ahmed Al Khashab

I don't have any problems when I install it in external storage, but when I upload it to phone before installing, the APK goes to internal storage and my testing phone doesn't have enough space in internal storage and a lot of android phones don't have enough internal space for 70 MB... Can I upload my APK straight to the SD Card instead of internal storage first? upload mean "upload from my eclipse while runnig , or download from market, apk will go to internal storage but i want apk go to external and start install from external"

  • Most efficient way to search the last x lines of a file in python

    - by Harley
I have a file and I don't know how big it's going to be (it could be quite large, but the size will vary greatly). I want to search the last 10 lines or so to see if any of them match a string. I need to do this as quickly and efficiently as possible and was wondering if there's anything better than: s = "foo" last_bit = fileObj.readlines()[-10:] for line in last_bit: if line == s: print "FOUND"

Actually, thoses rows are stored in the same table = slow to update, hard to backup, ... Which king of scheme is used in such application to allow long term accessibility to the datas without problems with too big tables, easy backup, fast read / write ? Is postgresql better than mysql for such purpose ? Thanks in advance BEst regards

  • What is the holdup on PHP 6?

    - by Billy ONeal
I've read in multiple places, including highly recommended PHP books published several years ago, that PHP 6 was just over the horizon, and would fix several of the BIG outstanding issues with PHP (namely unicode support). However, its been several years even since I've read those books, and PHP 6 is still not considered kosher for production use. Is there a specific feature that is proving difficult to implement or is it a simple lack of community desire to develop PHP 6?

  • cross platform keyboard/mouse input recommendation

    - by Jay
Does anyone have any suggestions for a good cross platform input library? I'd like to get: * at least keyboard and mouse input * on at least the big three operating systems * Small/fast * C or C++ * permissive licensing gpl2/mit/free/etc. So far I've seen: * OIS (used in Ogre) http://sourceforge.net/projects/wgois/ * SDL (used everywhere it seems, might be a clue) http://www.libsdl.org/index.php * Allegro http://www.talula.demon.co.uk/allegro/readme.html Has any one used any of these, or know of something else that might be good? Thanks

  • Do any clouds support SSD storage?

    - by taw
I'm using Amazon cloud right now, and the biggest performance issue is horrible I/O performance. As long as something fits RAM it's fine - once it's too big it gets ridiculously slow (in many different scenarios). There are only so many ways one can avoid hitting disk - so the question is - does Amazon or some other cloud provide SSD option?

  • Which programming language suits web critical application development?

    - by jcyang
According to this page,it seems that Perl,PHP,Python is 50 times slower than C/C++/Java. Thus,I think Perl,PHP,Python could not handle critical application(such as 100 million user,xx million request every second) well. But exceptions are exist,e.g. facebook(it is said facebook is written with PHP entirely),wikipeida. Moreover,I heard google use Python extensively. So why?Is it the faster hardware fill the big speed gap between C/C++/Java and Perl/PHP/Python? thanks.

  • What's faster Model.get(keys) or Model.get_by_id(ids, parent=None)

    - by WooYek
I'm wondering is there a difference in terms of computing cost for the Model.get(keys) and Model.get_by_id(ids, parent=None) methods? Is there a server side computing advantage of using numeric id's over encoded string keys, or other way around? How big is the difference? PS. Sorry, if it's a dupe. I'm sure I read an article about it, but I cannot find it now.

  • EADDRNOTAVAIL when binding 127.0.0.1 on localhost?

    - by Jonas Byström
    I'm getting errno==49 (EADDRNOTAVAIL) when trying to UDP-bind() to 127.0.0.1:47346 running Mac OS X on a G5 (big endian PowerPC). Is there something preventing me from doing so? I've tried other addresses and ports (192.168.1.2 and port 47346) but with no success. Here's a gdb printout of my sockaddr_in: $1 = { sin_len = 0 '\0', sin_family = 2 '\002', sin_port = 47346, sin_addr = { s_addr = 3232235778 }, sin_zero = "???\000\000??" }

  • Resizing canvas, where's the problem?

    - by Noor
I'll post a link since theres to much to post here: http://hem.bredband.net/noor/canvas.htm My goal is to make the picture fit inside the window with the width of the image being the same as the window, even after resize. If the pictures height becomes to big for the window then the picture should resize itself according to the height and not the width. Somewhere along my code there is something wrong.. forgive me if this is stupid, i am still learning.. Thanks!

  • CakePHP: Can I ignore a field when reading the Model from the DB?

    - by Daniel Magliola
In one of my models, I have a "LONGTEXT" field that has a big dump of a bunch of stuff that I never care to read, and it slows things down, since I'm moving much more data between the DB and the web app. Is there a way to specify in the model that I want CakePHP to simply ignore that field, and never read it or do anything with it? I really want to avoid the hassle of creating a separate table and a separate model, only for this field. Thanks! Daniel
