• Looking for an algorithm that will show how to fit the most boxes in a container.

  I've been interested in writing an application that will show how to fit boxes (of random dimensions) in a container so there is as little space as possible left. A real life example would be something that would tell you how to use the most space in a UPS truck. Does anyone know of a good place to start for something like this? Is there an existing algorithm that does something similar to what I'm talking about?

  Hi, is it possible to know the time at which a contact was created. Actually I want to find all contacts created after a particular time (say 12:00 pm 29th march 2010). I thought that the contact ids were assigned in an increasing order and just noting the largest id at that point would suffice. But with Android 2.0, the internal sync may merge a contact with an existing one and hence assign an older id to it. I hope I have made my question clear

• Reading Resource Files from my own APK in Android Native Environment

  I'm porting to Android. My existing project has a ton of resource files that I'm porting into my Android project. I have them all in /res/raw/, and I would like to access those resources in my native library with functions such as fopen() and such. Can this be done, or do I have to go through JNI for this as well? I would really prefer not to, for ease of porting and possible speed and memory reasons.

  I'm integrating with an existing servlet that pulls some properties out of the HTTP header. Basically, I'm implementing an interface that doesn't have access to the actual request, it just has access to a map of k-v for the HTTP headers. I need to pass in a request parameter. The plan is to use a servlet filter to go from parameter to header value but of course the HttpServletRequest object doesn't have an addHeader() method. Any ideas?

  Hello, I want to make a little script but I'm rather n00b in php so please help me if you can :) What I want the script to do is: I have "index.php". I want "index.php" to read the sub-directories from a known folder, let's say "templates/" Each sub-directory will contain a file called "content.html".   On win32, using winapi, is there anyway to know which comports (from com0 upwards) actually exist as devices? At the moment I am just attemping to open them all (0 to 9), but I can't figure out the difference of failure between one not existing, and one not simply being available for use because someone else is using it. Both situations seem to return the same last error, so I was wondering if I could list all the comports available on the system.

  Hi everyone, recently this post inspired me, I want to track my own life, too. I take a look at my cellphone's clock every time when go to sleep or after wake up, so I need some program to hook to my cellphone's on/off button, and log the timestamp when I press it. I am using WM6.5 on a HTC TyTN II. If there is existing software that can do this with few settings and tweaks it would be nice, but I can also write code myself. Any suggestions?
