• Eclipselink read complex object model in an ordered way

  Hi, I need to read a complex model in an ordered way with eclipselink. The order is mandantory because it is a huge database and I want to have an output of a small portion of the database in a jface tableview. Trying to reorder it in the loading/quering thread takes too long and ordering it in the LabelProvider blocks the UI thread too much time, so I thought if Eclipselink could be used that way, that the database will order it, it might give me the performance I need. Unfortunately the object model can not be changed :-( The model is something like: @SuppressWarnings("serial") @Entity public class Thing implements Serializable { @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.TABLE) private int id; private String name; @OneToMany(cascade=CascadeType.ALL) @PrivateOwned private List<Property> properties = new ArrayList<Property>(); ... // getter and setter following here } public class Property implements Serializable { @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.TABLE) private int id; @OneToOne private Item item; private String value; ... // getter and setter following here } public class Item implements Serializable { @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.TABLE) private int id; private String name; .... // getter and setter following here } // Code end In the table view the y-axis is more or less created with the query Query q = em.createQuery("SELECT m FROM Thing m ORDER BY m.name ASC"); using the "name" attribute from the Thing objects as label. In the table view the x-axis is more or less created with the query Query q = em.createQuery("SELECT m FROM Item m ORDER BY m.name ASC"); using the "name" attribute from the Item objects as label. Each cell has the value Things.getProperties().get[x].getValue() Unfortunately the list "properties" is not ordered, so the combination of cell value and x-axis column number (x) is not necessarily correct. Therefore I need to order the list "properties" in the same way as I ordered the labeling of the x-axis. And exactly this is the thing I dont know how it is done. So querying for the Thing objects should return the list "properties" "ORDER BY name ASC" but of the "Item"s objects. My ideas are something like having a query with two JOINs. Joing Things with Property and with Item but somehow I was unable to get it to work yet. Thank you for your help and your ideas to solve this riddle.

  When i use ObjectContext.Translate(DbDataReader) to materialize my own Entity which use ComplexType as property. I encounter this error: System.InvalidOperationException: Cannot create a value for property '[MyOwnAttribute]' of type '[MyOwnComplexType]'. Only properties with primitive types are supported. Does EntityFramework Support ComplexType Translate? Or i missed something?

  i am creating a usercontrol which provides all of the common validations for a range of textbox styles: alpha, number, decimal, SSN, etc. so, when a developer using this control selects the alpha style, they can also select another property which defines a string of special characters that could also be allowed during validation. but when the decimal style, for instance, is selected, i'd like to simply disable the special characters property so it is not settable when a style is selected that doesn't allow special characters. how can i achieve this goal? thanks

  You can only define a GroupItemCount in the ListView, but what if you want to do grouping based on a property of the items in the data source? Sort of an ad-hoc group by. The data source is sorted on this property. I have seen some examples where some markup in the ItemTemplate was conditionally show, but I want to leverage the GroupTemplate if possible. Is this possible?

  I've got a ItemsControl (to be replaced by listbox) which has it's ItemsSource bound to an ObservableCollection<User> which is located in the view model. The View Model contains some DelegateCommand<T> delegates for handling commands (for instance UpdateUserCommand and RemoveUserCommand). I had an app that worked all along with this <context:property-placeholder location="classpath:my.properties"/> No problems finding the properties file and hooking things up. Now, I needed to encrypt some fields in the properties file. Since MVC is abstracted from everything else via WCF, I've created a couple utility classes and extensions to help with this.   I want to have a TextBox which does accept the TAB key (and places a TAB, ASCII 0x09, \t accordingly into the textbox) instead of jumping to the next control. The TextBox has a property AcceptsTab, which I have set to true but this does not give the desired result. It turns out the AcceptsTab property only works then Multiline is set to true as well. However I want to have a one-line TextBox which doesn't accept newlines.

• View outlet not set with UINavigationController

  I have a NIB that contains a UINavigationController which has a UIViewController. The UIViewController is being loaded externally from another nib. I am unable to set the view property thus I get the error: *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalInconsistencyException', reason: '-[UIViewController _loadViewFromNibNamed:bundle:] loaded the "LBRootViewController" nib but the view outlet was not set.' How can I set my view property correctly?

Suposing I have a Windows Form with 3 radio buttons to depict some "Mode" options as - Auto Manual Import How can I use boolean properties on Data/Domain Objects to DataBind to these buttons? I have tried many ways but to no avail. For example I would like to code like - rbtnAutoMode.DataBindings.Add("Text", myBusinessObject, "IsAutoMode"); rbtnManualMode.DataBindings.Add("Text", myBusinessObject, "IsManualMode"); rbtnImportMode.DataBindings.Add("Text", myBusinessObject, "IsImportMode"); There should be a fourth property like "SelectedMode" on the data/domain object which at the end should depict a single value like "SelectedMode = Auto". I am trying to update this property when any of the "IsAutoMode", "IsManualMode" or "IsImportMode" is changed, e.g. through the property setters. I have INotifyPropertyChanged implemented on my data/domain object so, updating any data/domain object property automatically updates my UI controls, that's not an issue. There is a good example of binding 2 radio buttons here - http://stackoverflow.com/questions/344964/how-do-i-use-databinding-with-windows-forms-radio-buttons but I am missing the link while implementing the same with 3 buttons. I am having very erratic behaviors for the Radio Buttons. I hope I was able to explain reasonably. I am actually in a hurry and could not put a detailed code on post, but any help in this regard is appreciated. There is a simple solution to this issue by exposing a method like - public void SetMode(Modes mode) { this._selectedMode = mode; } which could be called from the "CheckedChanged" event of the Radio Buttons from the UI and would perfectly set the "SelectedMode" on the business object, but I need to stretch the limits to verify whether this can be done by DataBinding.

• NSCollectionView draws nothing

  I'm trying to set up an NSCollectionView (I have done this successfully in the past, but for some reason it fails this time). I have a model class called "TestModel", and it has an NSString property that just returns a string (just for testing purposes right now). I then have an NSMutableArray property declaration in my main app delegate class, and to this array I add instances of the TestModel object. I then have an Array Controller that has its Content Array bound the app delegate's NSMutableArray. I can confirm that everything up to here is working fine; NSLogging: [[[arrayController arrangedObjects] objectAtIndex:0] teststring] worked fine. I then have all the appropriate bindings for the collection view set up, (itemPrototype and content), and for the Collection View Item (view). I then have a text field in the collection item view that is bound to Collection View Item.representedObject.teststring. However NOTHING displays in the collection view when I start the app, just a blank white screen. What am I missing? I can verify that the Array Controller has the objects in it by NSLogging [arrayController arrangedObjects], and it returns the correct object. Its just that nothing displays in the NSCollectionView. UPDATE 2: If I log [collectionView content] I get nothing: 2009-10-21 08:02:42.385 CollViewTest[743:a0f] ( ) The problem is probably there. • Is there any syntax checker for knockout.js?

  I like knockout.js, the only problem is Visual Studio knows nothing about this framework, so it does not prevent me from silly things like assigning some value to observable property with '=' operator which makes it regular property, and it's not easy to reveal at compile time and often at runtime even. I wonder is there any syntax checker/highlighter for Visual Studio 2010 that helps me prevent faults like this? What about VS 2011? It might be a great help for developers who are new to knockout. • Multiple View App shows Blank Screen in Simulator

  Hello; I am developing a simple app that first shows a menu screen, and when a button is pressed, a game screen appears. I was able to develop the game screen without any issues, but when I changed the code to first display the menu, the simulator showed a blank screen. • Silverlight: Set Items Widths in ItemsControl to Stretch

  I've got an ItemsControl which fills from top to bottom, but I can't get it's child items to occupy the whole width of the ItemsControl: I basically need to stretch the green bits to fill the width of the control (as shown by the blue bits). I've tried things like setting the HorizontalAlignment property of the template item to Stretch and I've even tried binding it's Width property to the ItemsControl Width, but neither worked. Should be a straight forward one, but it's something I just can't quite figure out...
