    One of the more annoying bugs in Windows XP is the tendency for the Task Manager icon to not show up in the tray (aka the notification area). Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't, and it's not consistent enough to have an obvious cause. Looking on Google turns up a bunch of forums that have the same problem but no working solution. Why does the task manager icon sometimes not show up? How can I repair it when this happens (how can make it show up when it's missing)? How can I prevent it from not working in the first place, so that I don't have to worry about repairing it after the fact?

  • Juju Openstack bundle: Can't launch an instance

    Deployed bundle:~makyo/openstack/2/openstack, on top of 7 physical boxes and 3 virtual ones. After changing vip_iface strings to point to right devices, e.g., br0 instead of eth0, and defining "/mnt/loopback|30G", in Cinder's block-device string, am able to navigate through openstack dashboard, error free. Following http://docs.openstack.org/grizzly/openstack-compute/install/apt/content/running-an-instance.html instructions, attempted to launch cirros 0.3.1 image; however, novalist shows the instance in   • Flushing a queue using AMQP, Rabbit, and Ruby

    I'm developing a system in Ruby that is going to make use of RabbitMQ to send messages to a queue as it does some work. I am using: Ruby 1.9.1 Stable RabbitMQ 1.7.2 AMQP gem v0.6.7 (http://github.com/tmm1/amqp) Most of the examples I have seen on this gem have their publish calls in an EM.add_periodic_timer block. This doesn't work for what I suspect is a vast majority of use cases, and certainly not for mine. I need to publish a message as I complete some work, so putting a publish statement in an add_periodic_timer block doesn't suffice. So, I'm trying to figure out how to publish a few messages to a queue, and then "flush" it, so that any messages I've published are then delivered to my subscribers. To give you an idea of what I mean, consider the following publisher code: #!/usr/bin/ruby require 'rubygems' require 'mq' MESSAGES = ["hello","goodbye","test"] AMQP.start do queue = MQ.queue('testq') messages_published = 0 while (messages_published < 50) if (rand() < 0.4) message = MESSAGES[rand(MESSAGES.size)] puts "#{Time.now.to_s}: Publishing: #{message}" queue.publish(message) messages_published += 1 end sleep(0.1) end AMQP.stop do EM.stop end end So, this code simply loops, publishing a message with 40% probability on each iteration of the loop, and then sleeps for 0.1 seconds. It does this until 50 messages have been published, and then stops AMQP. Of course, this is just a proof of concept. Now, my subscriber code: #!/usr/bin/ruby require 'rubygems' require 'mq' AMQP.start do queue = MQ.queue('testq') queue.subscribe do |header, msg| puts "#{Time.now.to_s}: Received #{msg}" end end So, we just subscribe to the queue, and for each message received, we print it out. Great, except that the subscriber only receives all 50 messages when the publisher calls AMQP.stop. Here's the output from my publisher. I tried putting AMQP.start and AMQP.stop in the body of the while loop of the publisher, but then only the first message gets delivered -- though strangely, if I turn on logging, there are no error messages reported by the server and the messages do get sent to the queue, but never get received by the subscriber.     I have an Order model and order_event model. Each order_event has a foreignkey to order. so from an order instance i can get: myorder.order_event_set. I want to get a list of all orders but i want them to be sorted by the date of the last event. A statement like this works to sort by the latest event date: queryset = Order.objects.all().annotate(latest_event_date=Max('order_event__event_datetime')).order_by('latest_event_date') However, what I really need is a list of all orders sorted by latest date of A SUBSET OF EVENTS. For example my events are categorized into "scheduling", "processing", etc. So I should be able to get a list of all orders sorted by the latest scheduling event. This django doc (https://docs.djangoproject.com/en/dev/topics/db/aggregation/#filter-and-exclude) shows how I can get the latest schedule event using a filter but this excludes orders without a scheduling event. I thought I could combine the filtered queryset with a queryset that includes back those orders that are missing a scheduling event...but I'm not quite sure how to do this. I saw answers related to using python list but it would be much more useful to have a proper django queryset (ie for a view with pagination, etc.)

  • Is this the correct way of speaking to a "Content Manager" Class?

    I am creating a silverlight site. I am currently breaking out my ideas into pieces of functionality. One of the idea's I have is the concept of a content manager. This is essentially a UI control with 4 regions. Top, Bottom, Right & Left. I also have a collection of objects that are considered "Menu Items". These are controls that function as a way to navigate around, similar to links. The idea I have is to implement an IMenuItem interface. Among the standard pieces of information (Text, PageReference, etc) I was also going to hold a reference to the content manager. My idea behind this thinking is that I can pass the PageReference to a property on the ContentManager and then call a method which knows how to update the content manager accordingly. Is this the best way of implementing this or is their some sort of pattern for it?

    Hello. Using an Android Dev Phone 2, I'm using the GsmCellLocation.getCid() method to get the Cell ID on my network. When I run the command and get all the CellIDs for the NeighboringCellInfo I get this values: 597195726 597185722 597195718 597110191 597101100 597175726 I'm running this using the SDK 1.6. The problem is that when I run the Engineering Mode on a GSM modem that I have, running a command to obtain the Neighboring Cell IDs, I get this values: 34253 0 34223 34262 34181 0 What is the difference here? In what format is Android delivering the Cell IDs? I tried doing a "cell.getCid() & 0xffff" but now I'm getting the values: 21690 31686 37068 11695 11694 31694 Which are still different from the one that the GSM Modem is delivering with the Engineering Mode. Obviously I tried this on at the same time, same location. I'm trying to get the same Cell IDs that the external GSM modem I using is delivering Please provide any help Thanks in advance!

    Respected sir/madam, I want to add multiple jpanels to jpanel.So i added a root panel to jscrollpane.and then added all individual jpanels to this root panel.I made jscrollpane's scrolling policy as needed.i.e HORIZONTAL_SCROLLBAR_AS_NEEDED,VERTICAL_SCROLLBAR_AS_NEEDED. But the problem is all individual panels are not shown inside root panel.   • Android:Android SDK and AVD Manager doesn't launch after did SDK upgrade?

    Hi folks, I have Android development eclipse setup on Mac OS X. I recently did Android SDK upgrade from 1.5 to available versions such as 1.6, 2.0.1 and 2.1 and docs. After did upgrade, automatically restarted my Macbook and installed all new versions. After this, when i try to launch "Windows-Android SDK and AVD Manager", it doesn't launch at all. What might be the reason? Does anyone has the solution? The reason why i'm trying to launch Android SDK and AVD Manager is, i need to add new Android virtual device(avd) target for 2.0.1 and 2.1 versions, for that i'm trying to launch Android SDK and AVD Manager.   • Network Data Packet connectivity intent

    I am writing an Android application which can enable and disable the Network Data packet connection. I am also using one broadcast receiver to check the Network Data packet connection. I have registered broadcast receiver and provided required permission in Manifest file. But when I run this application it changes the connection state and after that it crashes. But when I don't include this broadcast receiver it works fine. I am not able to see any kind of log which can provide some clue. PS: Some information about Android environment and platform. - Android API 10. - Running on Samsung Galaxy II which has android 2.3.6 Edit: my broadcast receiver file ConnectivityReceiver.java was present in default package and it was not being recognized by Android. Android was looking for this file in current package i.e com.rakesh.simplewidget; I just moved connectivityReciever.java file to com.rakesh.simplewidget package and problem was solved.

  • A question about writing a background/automatic/silent downloader/installer for an app in C#.

    Background: I have a main application that needs to be able to go to the web and download DLL files associated with it (ones that we write, located on our server). It really needs to be able to download these DLL files to the application folder in "C:\Program Files\". In the past I have used System.Net.WebClient to download whatever files I wanted from the web. The Issue I have had a lot of trouble downloading data in the past and saving to files on a user's hard drive. I get many reports of users saying that this does not work and it is generally because of user rights issues in the program. In the cases where it was an issue with program user rights every user could go to the exact file location on the web, download it, and then save it to the right place manually. I want this to work like all the other programs I have seen download/install in this fassion (i.e. Firefox Pluign Updates, Flash Player, JAVA, Adobe Reader, etc). All of these work without a hitch. The Question Is there some code I need to use to give my downloader program special rights to the Program Files folder? Can I even do this? Is there a better class or library that I should use? Is there a different approach to downloading files I should take, such as using threads or something else to download data? Any help here is appreciated. I want to try to stay away from third-party apps/libraries if at all possible, other than Microsoft of course, due to licensing issues, but still send any suggestions my way. Again, other programs seem to have the rights issues and download capability figured out. I want this same capability.

    Can anybody please tell me the registry setting(s) that are affected in Windows Mobile 6.1 when a user selects Start - Settings - Connections - Wi-Fi and then changes the value of the "My network card connects to" drop down list on the "Network Adapters" tab? I have a device that seems to default this to "The Internet" when in fact the Wi-Fi connects to the corporate network and I would like to be able to change this programatically rather than expecting 250+ users to have to do it manually every time they reboot their devices.   • Post Loading ads from Google Admanager

    I have changed code around to basically load an add the bottom of the page in a hidden div and attached an onload event handler that called document.getElementById(xxx).appendChild() to take the hidden ad and move it into the right spot in my page. This works GREAT.. however when the ad is a text ad it AFTER i move the ad there is nothing in the rendered Iframe. I did tests to see what it looks like before i move it and sure enough the text links load in the IFRAME but the second i do the appendChild call to move the div that contains the ad i seem to loose the contents of the Iframe.   • Why is BorderLayout calling setSize() and setBounds()?

    I'm trying to get my head around proper use of the different LayoutManagers to make my GUI design skills more efficient and effective. For me, that usually requires a detailed understanding of what is going on under the hood. I've found some good discussion of the interaction and consequences of a Container using BorderLayout containing a Container using FlowLayout. I understand it for the most part, but wanted to confirm my mental model and to do so I am looking at the code for BorderLayout. In the code snippet below taken from BorderLayout.layoutContainer(), note the calls to the child Component's setSize() method followed by setBounds(). Looking at the source for these methods of Component, setSize() actually calls setBounds() with the current values for Component.x and Component.y. Why is this done (and not entirely redudant?) Doesn't the setBounds() call completely overwrite the results of the setSize() call? if ((c=getChild(NORTH,ltr)) != null) { c.setSize(right - left, c.height); Dimension d = c.getPreferredSize(); c.setBounds(left, top, right - left, d.height); top += d.height + vgap; } I'm also tring to understand where/when the child Component's size is initially set (before the LayoutManager.layoutContainer() method is called).     Hi, I have a VerticalFieldManager that takes all my screen, and I want to put an HorizontalFieldmanager at the bottom of the screen (menu bar that appear and disappear like the WeatherEye menu bar) that overlay the VerticalFieldManager. Any idea? I think it's something with overwriting the paint or sublayout methods but I have no clue how to implement this... Thanks to Max, I have almost everything, but in my other post it resize the VerticalFieldManager instead of having the HorizontalFieldmanager overlaying it. Thank you!
