  • JQuery: which element was clicked?

    I have a list with links. These links are links to tables on the same page. What I want to do is whatever link I click in the list it will show its corresponding table and hide all the others. Without adding a different id/class to each link in the list and its corresponding table, is there a way to find out which element was clicked and show() its table? From what I understand JQuery returns an array object on its selector. How can I find out what element of the array was clicked? I've tried to use event.which but I'm a little lost. Help is greatly appreciated!

    let say I have a parent element which has so many nested child elements inside of itself: <div id="p"> <div id="c1"> <div id="c2"></div> <div id="c3"></div> </div id="c4"> <div id="c5"></div> </div> </div> I've already bind a click event on the parent: $('#p').bind('click', function() { alert($(this).attr('id')); }); Because the event is assigned to the parent element, I always see the parent id, however, I'm wondering if there is any possible way to find out which of this child elements has been clicked? I also can't assign any event to the child elements or remove the event listener from parent div.

But at the next step I'd like to check whether some id exists in the page, or not. Unfortunately, I can't just be, like, set some_object = ie.document.getelementbyid("some_non_existant_id") if some_object.tagname = "" then ... because it gives me the following error: ie.vbs(12, 1) Microsoft VBScript runtime error: Object required: 'some_object' So, what's the best practice to check whether an element has been found or not?

  • Iterator for second to last element in a list

    I currently have the following for loop: for(list<string>::iterator jt=it->begin(); jt!=it->end()-1; jt++) I have a list of strings which is in a larger list (list<list<string> >). I want to loop through the contents of the innerlist until I get to the 2nd to last element. This is because I have already processed the contents of the final element, and have no reason to process them again. However, using it->end()-1 is invalid -- I cannot use the - operator here. While I could use the -- operator, this would decrement this final iterator on each cycle. I believe a STL list is a doubly linked list, so from my perspective, it should be possible to do this. Advice? Thanks in advance

  • HTML: How to get a child element to show behind (lower z-index) than its parent

    I need for a certain dynamic element to always appear on top of another element, no matter what order in the DOM tree they are. Is this possible? I've tried z-index (with position: relative), and it doesn't seem to work. I hate to be vague, but this is the simplest way I can think of asking this question without explaining its purpose ad nauseum. So, to recap, I need <div class="a"> <div class="b"></div> </div> <div class="b"> <div class="a"></div> </div> To display exactly the same when rendered. And for flexibility purposes (I'm planning on distributing a plugin that needs this functionality), I'd really like to not have to resort to absolute or fixed positioning.

  • iPhone UIView element similar to the lock screen

    Does anyone know if there is an open source project for an UIView element that acts in a similar way to the lock screen for the iPhone. I am working on an app that has some sensitive data, and I want to add another layer of comfort for users, to be able to setup a 4 digit pin number on the app. I've seen apps like LoseIt and Weightbot that have similar functionality. There isn't any element for this in the UI Library from what I've been able to find, and was hoping some kind soul might have open sourced something similar to this. Thanks in advance!!!

I want to fetch the ID of the cloned element which will be sent to the the application with the AJAX request.   • jQuery UI get the sorted position of LI element in UL

    I'm using jQuery UI's sortable for my UL list. Each time the user sorts the list, I want each li element to update it's "position" attribute to it's position in the list. <ul> <li position="1">a</li> <li position="2">b</li> <li position="3">c</li> </ul> So when a user swaps c with a, the position will also update. I tried to use .each but it seems that javascript doesn't follow the order of how the LI elements are displayed but the order of the element's creation.

    I'm modifying a dynamically created input element by setting the innerHTML, when I view the element in the DOM Inspector I can see that the values I passed are in the input. However, I can't see it on the page? Is there a refresh() function that I should be calling after setting the value? I have tried innerText, and value and gotten the same results. Here is how I am setting it: $("input[name='group']")[0].innerHTML = groups; (as far as the JS set and the JQuery selector I have found chrome plugins to be fickle this way)

    Hi, The title is a bit confusing but here's what I'm after: I have a set of elements containing all the h3 elements in a page. In jQuery terms: var mySet = $('h3'). I also have an div element var myContainer = $('div#foo') I need to find all items in the set mySet that are children of myContainer. Any ideas? I bet there's some magical one liner for this but I cannot think of any. I'd rather not loop through every element in the set manually and use .closest(myContainer) or something like that to determine the relationship. Note that in my scenario, I cannot use a new selector like $('div#foo h3') (that would be too easy) as I don't have access to the actual selector values. So it has to be dynamic.

  • Memory leaks getting sub-images from video (cvGetSubRect)

    Hi, i'm trying to do video windowing that is: show all frames from a video and also some sub-image from each frame. This sub-image can change size and be taken from a different position of the original frame. So , the code i've written does basically this: cvQueryFrame to get a new image from the video Create a new IplImage (img) with sub-image dimensions ( window.height,window.width) Create a new Cvmat (mat) with sub-image dimensions ( window.height,window.width) CvGetSubRect(originalImage,mat,window) seizes the sub-image transform Mat (cvMat) to img (IplImage) using cvGetImage my problem is that for each frame i create new IplImage and cvMat which take a lot of memory and when i try to free the allocated memory I get a segmentation fault or in the case of the CvMat the allocated space does not get free (valgrind keeps telling me its definetly lost space). the following code does it: int main(void){ CvCapture* capture; CvRect window; CvMat * tmp; //window size window.x=0;window.y=0;window.height=100;window.width=100; IplImage * src=NULL,*bk=NULL,* sub=NULL; capture=cvCreateFileCapture( "somevideo.wmv"); while((src=cvQueryFrame(capture))!=NULL){ cvShowImage("common",src); //get sub-image sub=cvCreateImage(cvSize(window.height,window.width),8,3); tmp =cvCreateMat(window.height, window.width,CV_8UC1); cvGetSubRect(src, tmp , window); sub=cvGetImage(tmp, sub); cvShowImage("Window",sub); //free space if(bk!=NULL) cvReleaseImage(&bk); bk=sub; cvReleaseMat(&tmp); cvWaitKey(20); //window dimensions changes window.width++; window.height++; } } cvReleaseMat(&tmp); does not seem to have any effect on the total amount of lost memory, valgrind reports the same amount of "definetly lost" memory if i comment or uncomment this line. cvReleaseImage(&bk); produces a segmentation fault. notice i'm trying to free the previous sub-frame which i'm backing up in the bk variable. If i comment this line the program runs smoothly but with lots of memory leaks I really need to get rid of memory leaks, can anyone explain me how to correct this or even better how to correctly perform image windowing?   • FMS: Stream.play on server side makes video choppy

    I have an *.flv file on a FMS. When I play it on the client side the video plays just fine, but when I call Stream.play(filename, 0, -1, false) on the server side the video turns out really choppy. I both cases I use NetConnection to connect to an rtmp and NetStream to play the stream, but in one case I connect to a stream and request the server to play my file on that stream. Apparently that doesn't work with files? It works just fine for live streams. I really don't get why this should differ at all. Any suggestions?

    Hi, This might be weird, but stay with me. I want to get only the last element of a piped result to be assigned to a varaiable. I know how I would do this in "regular" code of course, but since this must be a one-liner. More specifically, I'm interested in getting the file extension when getting the result from an FTP request ListDirectoryDetails. Since this is done within a string expansion, I can't figure out the proper code. Currently I'm getting the last 3 hars, but that is real nasty.
