  • Installing Team Foundation Server

    - by vzczc
    What are the best practices in setting up a new instance of TFS 2008 Workgroup edition? Specifically, the constraints are as follows: Must install on an existing Windows Server 2008 64 bit TFS application layer is 32 bit only Should I install SQL Server 2008, Sharepoint and the app layer in a virtual instance of Windows Server 2008 or 2003(I am already running Hyper-V) or split the layers with a database on the host OS and the app layer in a virtual machine? Edit: Apparently, splitting the layers is not recommended

  • replace the line to add some text

    - by shantanuo
    The MySQL dump backup file has the following line... # head -40 backup20-Apr-2010-07-32.sql | grep 'CHANGE MASTER TO ' -- CHANGE MASTER TO MASTER_LOG_FILE='mysql-bin.000068', MASTER_LOG_POS=176357756; a) I need to complete the statement with the parameters like Master host, user and password. b) I do also need to remove the comment "--" The line should look something like this... CHANGE MASTER TO MASTER_HOST='111.222.333.444', MASTER_USER='slave_user', MASTER_PASSWORD='slave_user', MASTER_LOG_FILE='mysql-bin.000068', MASTER_LOG_POS=176357756;

  • C precision of double: compiler dependent?

    - by yCalleecharan
    Hi,on my 32-bit machine (with an Intel T7700 duo core), I have 15 precision digits for both double and long double types for the C language. I compared the parameters LDBL_DIG for long doubles and DBL_DIG for doubles and they are both 15. I got these answers using MVS2008. I was wondering if these results can be compiler dependent or do they just depend on my processor? Thanks a lot...

  • Visual Studio 2010 -- how to reduce its memory footprint

    - by GregC
    I have a solution with just under 100 projects in it, a mix of C++ and C# (mostly C#). When working in VS2005, the working set of Visual Studio is considerably smaller than that of VS2010. I was wondering if there are some things that can be turned off, so I can develop in VS2010 under 32-bit OS without running out of memory.

    - by Frank
    I don't know too much about encryption, I just want to ask, which method can get me the shortest result message ? For instance, the message looks like this : "This is the secret input message", I wonder if the encrypted message can be shorter then the above 32 characters long ? Maybe something like "dfkfjkvf12". • PHP Mcrypt - Encrypting / Decrypting file

    - by whitman6732
    Trying to write a couple of functions that will encrypt or decrypt a file and am using the class found here to try and accomplish this: http://www.itnewb.com/v/PHP-Encryption-Decryption-Using-the-MCrypt-Library-libmcrypt The encryption function below seems to work, in that it appears to encrypt the file and place it in the intended directory. I'm trying to decrypt the file now, and it just dies with the message "Failed to complete decryption" (which is coded in there...) There's nothing in the php error logs, so I'm not sure why it's failing, but as mcrypt is entirely new to me, I'm more than inclined to believe I'm doing something wrong here... Here are the functions: //ENCRYPT FILE function encryptFile() { global $cryptastic; $pass = PGPPASS; $salt = PGPSALT; $key = $cryptastic->pbkdf2($pass, $salt, 1000, 32) or die("Failed to generate secret key."); if ($handle = opendir(PATH.'/ftpd')) { while (false !== ($file = readdir($handle))) { if ($file != "." && $file != "..") { $newfile = PATH.'/encrypted/'.$file.'.txt'; $msg = file_get_contents(PATH.'/ftpd/'.$file); $encrypted = $cryptastic->encrypt($msg, $key) or die("Failed to complete encryption."); $nfile = fopen($newfile, 'w'); fwrite($nfile, $encrypted); fclose($nfile); unlink(PATH.'/ftpd/'.$file); } } closedir($handle); } //DECRYPT FILE function inFTP() { global $cryptastic; $pass = PGPPASS; $salt = PGPSALT; $key = $cryptastic->pbkdf2($pass, $salt, 1000, 32) or die("Failed to generate secret key."); if ($handle = opendir(PATH.'/encrypted')) { while (false !== ($file = readdir($handle))) { if ($file != "." && $file != "..") { $newfile = PATH.'/decrypted/'.$file; $msg = PATH.'/encrypted/'.$file; $decrypted = $cryptastic->decrypt($msg, $key) or die("Failed to complete decryption."); $nfile = fopen($newfile, 'w'); fwrite($nfile, $decrypted); fclose($nfile); //unlink(PATH.'/encrypted/'.$file); } } closedir($handle); } //$crypt->decrypt($file); }

  • Microsoft Windows 64-bit application development best practises installation folder.

    - by abmv
    My problem is that a vendor is providing me with a 64bit application (packed in a 64bit installer) but it goes and installs to the x86 (Program Files) Folder and he keeps telling me its OK but I want it to install in the Program Files directory; as the 32 bit version does that and scripts for the app are developed based on this assumption. Can someone direct me to the Microsoft recommended best practices for 64bit applications(links). Thanks in advance.

  • Does IBM WebSphere MQ support a 64 bit client on windows?

    - by orpeles
    Title says it all :) No, seriously, I'm porting a C++ 32 bit application to 64 bit on windows. The application is a client of IBM WebSphere MQ. It uses the MQ client API. Now, as the port progresses, I'm trying to find a 64 bit client. So far, no luck. Does anyone here happen to know if where I can find one, or, god forbid, confirm that there isn't one? Regards, Or

  • Is single float assignment an atomic operation on the iPhone?

    - by iter
    I assume that on a 32-bit device like the iPhone, assigning a short float is an atomic, thread-safe operation. I want to make sure it is. I have a C function that I want to call from an Objective-C thread, and I don't want to acquire a lock before calling it: void setFloatValue(float value) { globalFloat = value; }

  • regsvr32 failed to create an entry under clsid

    - by user1677272
    I have a VC++ dll, which I want to register on my 32-bit Windows 7 machine using regsvr32.exe, however I have some problems with this. When I register my DLL with regsvr32.exe, it shows registration successful, but when I check the entries in regedit, there is no entry in Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID. There is only one entry in Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\TypeLib with the guid mentioned in the project. Can anyone help me on this?
