• Hide icons encrypted file system partitions in Nautilus

  I've installed Ubuntu 10.04 from the alternate CD. It has an encrypted root and swap partition. The root partition is visible in Nautilus as 'File Syste' icon. There is another icon "216 GB Filesystem". If I click it says: Unable to mount 216 GB Filesystem. /dev/mapper/sda5_crypt is mounted. Then there is another icon "6.1 GB Swap Space". If I click it it says: Unable to mount 6.1 GB Swap Space. Not a mountable file system. How can I hide these last two icons? • Lubuntu Full Install on USB Drive with Full Disk Encryption and Grub2

  I apologise for the wall of text, but I want you to scrutinize my thought-process to make sure there's no mistakes and no other way around it: I wish to have a full install of lubuntu with full disk encryption on one of my usb drives. The laptop I would be booting it from also has windows 7. I want to maintain that OS. From what I've read I must place grub2 on the usb drive so that: If I have the usb plugged in, the laptop would start lubuntu (having USB HD in the BIOS Boot options) If I don't have the usb plugged in, it would normally start windows 7. That's exactly what I want it to do. But: If I install from the normal .iso: Clicking "install lubuntu alongside them" would install it onto my normal HD. Clicking "Erase disk and install lunbuntu" would delete all the stuff I have in my HD and install lubuntu on it. Clicking "Something else" would allow me to choose to install lunbuntu and grub2 onto the usb drive, but would not provide it with encryption. So the normal .iso won't work for what I want. Then I found the alternate .iso and this tutorial: It allows me to install lubuntu with all the options I want and gives me the option to choose where to place the grub2! Hopefully there are no flaws in my train of thought. If there aren't, I have a few questions regarding that tutorial: The author says in his case choosing "Yes to install GRUB to your MBR" installed the grub to the usb drive's mbr. I can't have "in his case". I need to be sure that's what it will do, so that it doesn't mess up the windows boot loader. Choosing "no" would open this window and allow to choose where I want to install the grub. Unfortunately I don't understand which option I should type in the box to install it into the usb drive. Would removing my laptop's Hard Drive ensure that the grub is installed onto the usb drive if i picked first option, "yes"? I apologise once again for the wall of text and appreciate any help you guys can offer me.

• Black screen with thinkpad edge e525, AMD radeon HD before and after installation, plymouth?

  I have a new thinkpad edge e525 (which should work) and wanted to try ubuntu (first linux experience). With the ubuntu desktop-cd I had a blackscreen before installation, I could fix that with nomodeset. After the installation, when rebooting I got the black screen again. First I see some ubuntu colour with a green busted stripe. I have the same problem with the live boot, also tried mint live, the stripe gets pink. I installed xubuntu 64bit from an alternate cd and I didnt have problems until de reboot after the installation. Same problem, just a black screen with the green stripe than blackscreen. I tried several things: adding nomodeset to the bootmenu, but than I get: No connection to plymouth and it is stuck at checking the battery status. I tried to replace quiet splash with text. Didnt work either. actually one time I saw a blue booting image before that. I managed to get a root command though via the recovery boot. I didnt dare to just remove the plymouth package. Can I just delete plymouth or do I have to deinstall it as described in several ways. (Problem is, right now the notebook doesnt have a internet connection. And I dont know how to manage it with a usb stick?) Or do I have to install the AMD catalyst driver manually? (Again, how can I do that with an usb stick) I also tried this: Ubuntu hits a black screen after boot. Is there any solution without internet? And if I need internet which is the right one? Please explain step by step what I have to write and so on! Thank you! also tried: set gfxpayload=text and: just remove splash and adding vesafb.nonsense=1 to the grub editor, because I couldnt find it anywhere

• Ubuntu 12.04 Faster boot, Hibernate & other questions

  I've recently started exploring Ubuntu (my 1st distro). I fresh installed precise without a swap (4GB ram). The only issues are, slow boot (regardless of the swap) and instability after a few days of installation. The runtime performance is immaculate otherwise. Even though not needed, I still set swappiness = 10. I've tried the quiet splash profile to GRUB; already have preload installed. But it still is pretty slow. I am not too confident on recompiling the kernel yet. But you could please advice me on that too. I've also added the following to fstab: #Move /tmp to RAM: tmpfs /tmp tmpfs defaults,noexec,nosuid 0 0 (Also if you could please tell me the exact implication/scope of this tweak on physical ram & the swap.) But nothing has happened really. So what alternatives are there to make it boot faster? Also, right after fresh install, though no swap partition, the system still showed /dev/zram0 of arond 2GB which was never used (probably because of the above fstab edit). Finally, I experimented with Hibernate a little, but many claim that it doesn't work on 12.04. (Not to mention, I made a swap file of 4GB for it). What I did was: sudo gedit /var/lib/polkit-1/localauthority/50-local.d/hibernate.pkla Then I added the following lines, saved the file, and closed the text editor: [Re-enable Hibernate] Identity=unix-user:* Action=org.freedesktop.upower.hibernate ResultActive=yes I also edited the upower policy for hibernate: gksudo gedit /usr/share/polkit-1/actions/org.freedesktop.upower.policy I added these lines: < allow_inactive >no< /allow_inactive > < allow_active >yes< /allow_active > But it did not work. So is there an alternate method perhaps that can make it work on 12.04?

• Lubuntu 12.04 on Acer laptop boots to blank blue screen

  My previous question on this was closed, but I am posting it again as the solution which my son eventually found may assist other users of the forum, or someone may be able to tweak the solution to improve the performance. Having installed Kubuntu 12.04.01 from a live USB onto my desktop, I wanted to do the same on my laptop, an Acer Aspire 1362 Laptop, which has 256MB RAM (actually 512 "on the box", but a good deal can be borrowed by the graphics!). I found Kubuntu wouldn't run on so little memory but downloaded: Lubuntu-12.04-alternate-i386.iso, which I understood was light enough to go. The laptop has one internal 40GB Toshiba hard drive divided into 3 partitions: C,19GB with Windows XP, Windows program files and some data, D, 19GB mostly data, and a small 2GB partition with some Acer software, which XP can't normally “see”. I transferred most of the contents of D to a memory stick, leaving 16GB free for Lubuntu. I did not want to dump XP yet, though it is painfully slow. I installed Lubuntu from then USB stick, accepting the default answers to most of the questions. The D: partition was further partitioned into a 500MB boot partition, 10GB for Linux, 2GB Swap and 6GB for data shareable between Linux and Windows. I had no error messages during installation, rebooted, was offered the choice of Ubuntu or XP, and selected the former. After a few minutes, I get a dark blue screen announcing Lubuntu with five dots underneath which lighten in turn. Eventually the lights stopped, and whatever I try the screen remains blank apart from “Lubuntu” I tried several solutions suggested on the forum for “identical” questions but without success.

• 12.04 update crash, now cannot boot

  Boot now freezes the system at the "Ubuntu purple screen" with the 5 dots under it. I cannot even CTRL-ALT-F1 to get to an alternate console. Have to push reset button on computer to reboot. After the 12.04 update crash, the system would boot, but I had no icons and no launch bar and errors about missing dependencies. CTRL-ALT-F1 and ran apt-get -f install and it appeared to get the missing packages. I followed with a apt-get update; apt-get upgrade. It appeared to install all of the remaining 12.04 update packages. Rebooted to same blank screen - no icons, but got a compiz error. In console I tried "unity --reset" rebooted ... Nothing ... It's dead in the water. Tried to boot into Recovery Mode - black screen - I cannot even CTRL-ALT-Del - have to push reboot button. Fortunately, I have Mint on another partition and I can access the broken 12.04 partition. Ideas? I can back up all of my folders using Mint, but I would hate to have to do a new install.

• Changes to the LINQ-to-StreamInsight Dialect

  In previous versions of StreamInsight (1.0 through 2.0), CepStream<> represents temporal streams of many varieties: Streams with ‘open’ inputs (e.g., those defined and composed over CepStream<T>.Create(string streamName) Streams with ‘partially bound’ inputs (e.g., those defined and composed over CepStream<T>.Create(Type adapterFactory, …)) Streams with fully bound inputs (e.g., those defined and composed over To*Stream – sequences or DQC) The stream may be embedded (where Server.Create is used) The stream may be remote (where Server.Connect is used) When adding support for new programming primitives in StreamInsight 2.1, we faced a choice: Add a fourth variety (use CepStream<> to represent streams that are bound the new programming model constructs), or introduce a separate type that represents temporal streams in the new user model. We opted for the latter. Introducing a new type has the effect of reducing the number of (confusing) runtime failures due to inappropriate uses of CepStream<> instances in the incorrect context. The new types are: IStreamable<>, which logically represents a temporal stream. IQStreamable<> : IStreamable<>, which represents a queryable temporal stream. Its relationship to IStreamable<> is analogous to the relationship of IQueryable<> to IEnumerable<>. The developer can compose temporal queries over remote stream sources using this type. The syntax of temporal queries composed over IQStreamable<> is mostly consistent with the syntax of our existing CepStream<>-based LINQ provider. However, we have taken the opportunity to refine certain aspects of the language surface. Differences are outlined below. Because 2.1 introduces new types to represent temporal queries, the changes outlined in this post do no impact existing StreamInsight applications using the existing types! SelectMany StreamInsight does not support the SelectMany operator in its usual form (which is analogous to SQL’s “CROSS APPLY” operator): static IEnumerable<R> SelectMany<T, R>(this IEnumerable<T> source, Func<T, IEnumerable<R>> collectionSelector) It instead uses SelectMany as a convenient syntactic representation of an inner join. The parameter to the selector function is thus unavailable. Because the parameter isn’t supported, its type in StreamInsight 1.0 – 2.0 wasn’t carefully scrutinized. Unfortunately, the type chosen for the parameter is nonsensical to LINQ programmers: static CepStream<R> SelectMany<T, R>(this CepStream<T> source, Expression<Func<CepStream<T>, CepStream<R>>> streamSelector) Using Unit as the type for the parameter accurately reflects the StreamInsight’s capabilities: static IQStreamable<R> SelectMany<T, R>(this IQStreamable<T> source, Expression<Func<Unit, IQStreamable<R>>> streamSelector) For queries that succeed – that is, queries that do not reference the stream selector parameter – there is no difference between the code written for the two overloads: from x in xs from y in ys select f(x, y) Top-K The Take operator used in StreamInsight causes confusion for LINQ programmers because it is applied to the (unbounded) stream rather than the (bounded) window, suggesting that the query as a whole will return k rows: (from win in xs.SnapshotWindow() from x in win orderby x.A select x.B).Take(k) The use of SelectMany is also unfortunate in this context because it implies the availability of the window parameter within the remainder of the comprehension. The following compiles but fails at runtime: (from win in xs.SnapshotWindow() from x in win orderby x.A select win).Take(k) The Take operator in 2.1 is applied to the window rather than the stream: Before After (from win in xs.SnapshotWindow() from x in win orderby x.A select x.B).Take(k) from win in xs.SnapshotWindow() from b in     (from x in win     orderby x.A     select x.B).Take(k) select b Multicast We are introducing an explicit multicast operator in order to preserve expression identity, which is important given the semantics about moving code to and from StreamInsight. This also better matches existing LINQ dialects, such as Reactive. This pattern enables expressing multicasting in two ways: Implicit Explicit var ys = from x in xs          where x.A > 1          select x; var zs = from y1 in ys          from y2 in ys.ShiftEventTime(_ => TimeSpan.FromSeconds(1))          select y1 + y2; var ys = from x in xs          where x.A > 1          select x; var zs = ys.Multicast(ys1 =>     from y1 in ys1     from y2 in ys1.ShiftEventTime(_ => TimeSpan.FromSeconds(1))     select y1 + y2; Notice the product translates an expression using implicit multicast into an expression using the explicit multicast operator. The user does not see this translation. Default window policies Only default window policies are supported in the new surface. Other policies can be simulated by using AlterEventLifetime. The current syntax requires the introduction of an otherwise unsupported ‘IsEmpty()’ operator. As a result, the pattern is not discoverable and implies capabilities not present in the server. Based on the semantics of user-defined operators in StreamInsight, one would expect to construct queries in the following form: from win in xs.SnapshotWindow() from y in MyUdo(win) select y Instead, the UDO proxy method is referenced within a projection, and the (many) results returned by the user code are automatically flattened into a stream: from win in xs.SnapshotWindow() select MyUdo(win) The “many-or-one” confusion is exemplified by the following example that compiles but fails at runtime: from win in xs.SnapshotWindow() select MyUdo(win) + win.Count() The above query must fail because the UDO is in fact returning many values per window while the count aggregate is returning one. • How Can I Effectively Interview an Oracle Candidate?

  First, I browsed through SO for matching questions and didn't find one, but please point me in the right direction if this exact question has already been asked. I work with and around programmers of various skill levels on various platforms. I would consider my skills to be strong in terms of relational database design, query development, and basic performance tuning and administration. I'm mid-level when it comes to database theory. My team is looking to me to ensure that we have the best talent on staff, in this case, an engineer experienced in Oracle administration. To me, a well-rounded database administrator, regardless of platform, should also be competent in developing against the database so that is also a requirement. However my database skills are centralized around SQL Server 200x with experience in a few other products like SAP MaxDB, Access, and FoxPro. How can I thoroughly assess the skills of an Oracle engineer? I can ask high-level database theory questions and talk about routine tasks that are common across platforms, but I want to dig deep enough that I can be confident in the people I hire. Normally, I would alternate very specific questions that have a right/wrong answer with architectural questions that might have several valid answers. Does anyone have an interview template, specific questions, or any other knowledge that they can share? Even knowing the meaningful Oracle-related certifications would be a help. Thank you. To be clear, I am specifically asking how a MS SQL Server engineer (like myself) can effectively interview a person with different but symbiotic skills. • Is StackOverflow making me stupid? [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: When stuck, how quickly should one resort to Stack Overflow? Its good that solution to almost every programming problem is available at my disposal, either someone has asked it before or programming gurus are waiting for me to post it..sometimes its just the matter of seconds after posting the question and someone points out the error-causing-line or proposes alternate (easier, lightweight and efficient) solution. But today it struck me "is this making me dumb?" In good (umm..not so good) old days I used to figure out the source of my problem and then work it out myself, though it used to eat up lot of time but it helped in developing my logical thinking as it used to make an impression in my mind due to which I tend to avoid that situation in future codes. Now, as soon as I encounter a problem I just give it a shot or two and head towards the community. Many times after looking at the solution it turns out that answer was all in front of me..all I needed was to take a break, hover it once and its solved. Both the approaches make me feel guilty, for wasting time when I could have asked and solved it within minutes OR being too lazy to look over it again before posting the code snippet.

• Laptop Display Not Working

  Hello, I just purchased this laptop. It is working fine but I want to use Xubuntu on it. I managed to get 10.04 installed and running but it did not recognize/use the wireless card. So I want to try 10.10. However, every time I try, the screen goes black and never comes back on. I have tried the Live CD and Alternate install CDs, for both Ubuntu and Xubuntu 10.10. After I select "Install Ubuntu" or "Try Ubuntu", the screen blacks out and never displays anything. So I deleted "quiet" and "splash" off the command line to see what messages would come up. A bunch of text flies by but it ends at: [time] TCP established hash table entries: 524288 (order: 11, 8388608 bytes) [time] TCP bind hash table entries 65536 (order: 8, 1048576 bytes) [time] TCP: Hash tables configured (established 524288 bind 65536) [time] TCP reno registered [time] UDP hash table entries: 2048 (order: 4, 65536 bytes) [time] UDP-Lite hash table entries: 2048 (order: 4, 65536 bytes) [time] NET: Registered protocol family 1 And freezes here forever. I have tried nomodeset, vga=771, and xforcevesa with no progress. Is my video card simply not going to work with this distro? It seems strange that 10.04 would work fine but not 10.10. Any help is appreciated, thank you.

• Install lubuntu on an old Dell c600 : Video issues

  I am trying to install lubuntu on an old laptop. I use the 386 alternate instalation of it, because it has only 256mb ... All when ok so when I start up the lubuntu the screen splits between 1024x768 and 800x600... its very horrible to use =). Ok I do this: lspci and found an ATI Rage mobility M3. So I tryied the old xorg way to edit the missing resolution: Section "Screen" Identifier "Default Screen" Device "ATI Technologies, Inc. Do an init 6 to see if X take the changes, but nothing habbened: also tryed to do pkg-reconfigure -changedir /etc/X11 (where I created the new xorg.conf) and nothing.. removed the X conf from /tmp.. also do sudo apt-get update / upgrade... and no luck... Anyone can help me and tell me how to reconfigure X with the terminal? Can anyone give me a hand?

• Wubi installation broken by update - now unable to mount

  As of today, my wubi installation of Ubuntu won't boot (goes straight to 'minimal bash-like interface) and I am unable to mount it when I boot straight to Ubuntu. If I boot straight into Ubuntu (not using Wubi, not going via Windows), I am able to mount the Windows partition and see the Wubi partition there: sudo mount -t ntfs /dev/sda5 /media/winxp And from there I can see the wubi root disk: /media/winxp/ubuntu/disks/root.disk But if I try to mount this: sudo mount -o loop /media/winxp/ubuntu/disks/root.disk /media/wubi I get an error: /media/winxp/ubuntu/disks/root.disk Input/Output Error If I then try fsck: sudo fsck /media/winxp/ubuntu/disks/root.disk I get this: Input/Output Error while trying to open /media/winxp/ubuntu/disks/root.disk The Superblock could not be read or does not describe a correct etx2 filesystem. If the device is valid and it really contains an ext2 filesystem (and not swap or ufs or something else), then the superblock is corrupt and you might want to try running e2fsk with an alternate superblock: e2fsck -b 8193 <device ... this gives me the same result. There is data on this partition that I really need to be able to access, so I can't delete and reinstall. Any help much appreciated. Thanks.

• How to indicate to a web server the language of a resource

  I'm writing an HTTP API to a publishing server, and I want resources with representations in multiple languages. A user whose client GETs a resource which has Korean, Japanese and Trad. Chinese representations, and sends Accept-Language: en, ja;q=0.7 should get the Japanese. One resource, identified by one URI, will therefore have a number of different language representations. This seems to me like a totally orthodox use of content negotiation and multiple resource representations. But when each translator comes to provide these alternate language representations to the server, what's the correct way to instruct the server which language to store the representation under? I'm having the translators PUT the representation in its entirety to the same URI, but I can't find out how to do this elegantly. Content-Language is a response header, and none of the request headers seem to fit the bill. It seems my options are Invent a new request header Supply additional metadata in a multipart/related document Provide language as a parameter to the Content-Type of the request, like Content-Type: text/html;language=en I don't want to get into the business of extending HTTP, and I don't feel great about bundling extra metadata into the representation. Neither approach seems friendly to HTTP caches either. So option 3 seems like the best way that I can think of, but even then it's decidedly non-standard to put my own specific parameters on a very well established content type. Is there any by-the-book way of achieving this?

• Neural network input preprocessing

  It's clear that the effectiveness of a neural network depends strongly on the format you give it to work with. You want to preprocess it into the most convenient form you can algorithmically get to, so that the neural network doesn't have to account for that itself. I'm working on a little project that (surprise!) is going to be using neural networks. My future goal is to eventually use NEAT, which I'm really excited about. Anyway, one of my ideas involves moving entities in continuous 2D space, from a top-down perspective (this would be a really cool game AI). Of course, unless these guys are blind, they're going to be able to see the world around them. There's a lot of different ways this information could be fed into the network. One interesting but expensive way is to simply render a top-down "view" of things, with the entities as dots on the picture, and feed that in. I was hoping for something much simpler to use (at least at first), such as a list of the x (maybe 7 or so) nearest entities and their position in relative polar coordinates, orientation, health, etc., but I'm trying to think of the best way to do it. My first instinct was to order them by distance, which would inherently also train the neural network to consider those more "important". However, I was thinking- what if there's two entities that are nearly the same distance away? They could easily alternate indexes in that list, confusing the network. My question is, is there a better way of representing this? Essentially, the issue is the network needs a good way of keeping track of who's who, while knowing (by being inputted) relevant information about the list of entities it can see. Thanks!

• Point an external domain to a shared hosting website

  I bought a domain from a seller (GoDaddy), and wish to point it at a shared hosting website (ASmallOrange). Googling tells me it's fairly straightforward: Step 1: On the external domain's DNS, configure two NS records for the two nameservers of the hosting service. Step 2: Wait 2-48 hours. I'm puzzled because it can't be that simple. I've told the DNS where to look, but since it's shared hosting, the hosting service needs to know what site to point the domain to. And indeed, after I've performed the above steps, visiting the domain leads me to a generic message from the shared hosting service. Okay, so I have to configure the DNS on the hosting service, right? The service I use (ASmallOrange) uses cPanel. What I tried is to set up a Parked Domain for the externally bought domain; when I go into the Advanced DNS Zone Editor, sure enough, the DNS for the external domain shows up as something I can configure. Yet, visiting the externally registered domain still points me to the generic shared server page. I'm convinced I'm doing something wrong. Could someone debug my thought process? Or perhaps offer alternate solutions? Right now, I'm considering trying to set up a CNAME record on the external domain to point to the domain I registered through the shared host -- but I have a vague impression that this is bad practice.

• Upgrading to 12.10 on an external hard drive

  I did some googling on this and didn't find anything specific for my situation. I currently have 12.04 installed on an external USB hard drive. It's working great. I want to upgrade it to 12.10. My bandwidth is very limited so I have a friend who will download 12.10 for me and put it on a flash stik. Then I can upgrade without having to do the download myself. Which particular version of the 12.10 download file(s) should I get? Are there alternate 12.10 downloads that have all the packages? How do I set it up so when I upgrade 12.04 I can specify that it look in some local repository for the 12.10 files? Can I just dump the 12.10 files in some local directory? Or do I have do go thru some complex commands to create a local repository? I'm pretty new to Linux so a long process of complex terminal commands will probably be a show stopper for me. Remember that my 12.04 install resides on an external hard drive. And I have a laptop with multiple USB ports. Thanks! Advait

• Cannot boot after installing ubuntu on lenovo x120e

  I have installed ubuntu 11.10 on my x120e using amd64 alternate iso image. The installation went fine, but it is having issues while booting after a successful installation, it says - "No Operating System Found". I followed the instruction at - help.ubuntu.com/community/X120e#Installation to purge grub-efi and installed grub-pc, even then I couldn't boot into ubuntu.(got the same "No Operating System Found") This is the file from boot-repair with this setup - http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/926556/ Then I asked in #ubuntu and they suggested me to create a bios-boot partition, I was not very comfortable with the solution they had suggested but gave it a try anyhow. I re-sized my initial partition and made 4 MB free space in the beginning of the partition and had set the flag bios_grub. Re-installed ubuntu 11.10 this time using amd64 desktop iso image file. Installation went fine as before but finally this time also the system didn't boot, it gave the same - "No Operating System Found" message. In BIOS I have the settings as to use both (Legacy and UEFI) and with UEFI tried first. • Game Asset Management

  I am making my first small mobile game in C# XNA. Lets say I have 3 screens, the main menu, options and game screen. A single game session usually lasts for 1 min, so the user will alternate frequently between the main menu and game screen. Therefore, once I load the textures for either screen, I want to keep them in memory to avoid frequent reloading. Both screens share some assets like their background textures, but differ in others. The first solution I came up with is making 2 texture factory classes, MainScreenAssetFactory and GameScreenAssetFactory, each with their own content manager, and ill store them in a globally accessible point so that they persist after either screen is destroyed. There is also a OptionsScreenAssetFactory, but that I dont want to cache it since the options screen is rarely visited. A typical Factory would look something like this public class MainScreenAssetFactory { private readonly ContentManager contentManager; public MainScreenAssetFactory(IServiceProvider serviceProvider, string rootDirectory) { contentManager = new ContentManager(serviceProvider) { RootDirectory = rootDirectory }; } public Texture2D ListElementBackground { get { return return contentManager.Load<Texture2D>("UserTab"); } } public Texture2D ListElementBulletPoint { get { return return contentManager.Load<Texture2D>("TabIcon"); } } public Texture2D LoggedOutUser { get { return return contentManager.Load<Texture2D>("LoggedOutUser"); } } } Since both Main, Options and Game Screen share some common resources, instead of loading them more than once, I created another class CommonAssetTexFactory which holds the common stuff and stays in-memory during the app lifetime. For example, this class gets passed to the options screen when it is created. However, given my small game with its few assets, I am already finding this solution cumbersome and inflexible. Changing anything would require looking to see if its already in the common factory, and if not, modifying existing factories and so on. And this is just considering textures currently, i didnt add sound files yet. I cant imagine bigger games with thousands of resources using this approach. A better idea must exist. Would someone please enlighten me?

• Choosing a JavaScript Asynch-Loader

  I’ve been looking at various asynchronous resource-loaders and I’m not sure which one to use yet. Where I work we have disparate group-efforts whose class-modules may use different versions of jQuery (etc). As such, nested dependencies may differ, as well. I have no control over this, so this means I need to dynamically load resources which may use alternate versions of the same library. As such, here are my requirements: Load JavaScript and CSS resource files asynchronously. Manage dependency-order and nested-dependencies across versions. Detect if a resource is already loaded. Must allow for cross-domain loading (CDN's) (optional) Allow us to unload a resource. I’ve been looking at: Curl RequireJS JavaScriptMVC LABjs I might be able to fake these requirements myself by loading versions into properly-namespaced variables & using an array to track what is already loaded...but (hopefully) someone has already invented this. So my questions are: Which ones do you use? And why? Are there others that my satisfy my requirements fully? Which do you find most eloquent and easiest to work with? And why?

  So recently I had an ASPX page that could be visited by two different user types.  User type A would use Master Page 1 and user type B would use Master Page 2.  So I put together a proof of concept to see if it was possible to change the MasterPage in code.  I found a great article on the Microsoft ASP.net website. • recovering raid 0 hard disk

  I bumped to a huge (for me) problem. I was running dual boot system (win 7 / linux) and at some point I decided to test fedora ( I am new in Linux ). My hard disk conf: 3 hard disks each 1 TB, 2 set to raid 0 with windows running on it and 1 for linux. After installing it from live usb I found out that windows 7 is not in grub anymore and while booting shows raid error. I installed back Ubuntu and ran Disk Utility and checked now I have one disks (raid 0) failed (READ) error. First has 5 bad sectors and second has 1 bad sector. And now I dont know what to do and how to repair. further I dont know which data i could provide to get help. I tried ntfsfix and got this output: Mounting volume... NTFS signature is missing. FAILED Attempting to correct errors... NTFS signature is missing. FAILED Failed to startup volume: Invalid argument NTFS signature is missing. Trying the alternate boot sector Unrecoverable error Volume is corrupt. You should run chkdsk. #sudo ntfs-3g -o force,rw /dev/sdb /media/windows NTFS signature is missing. Failed to mount '/dev/sdb': Invalid argument The device '/dev/sdb' doesn't seem to have a valid NTFS. Maybe the wrong device is used? Or the whole disk instead of a partition (e.g. /dev/sda, not /dev/sda1)? Or the other way around?

• Install Problems on ASUS X401A Notebook

  okay... I tried many approaches to install Ubuntu 12.xxx on my new Asus notebook with varying degrees of failure... First: I'm not a newbie but I'm as frustrated as one! Install background: Install from USB DVD drive: The install went well. Re-booted machine. choose ubuntu and it errors with a MBR file error (can't remember the exact wording - something to do with missing the file. Choosing to boot W7 works fine. Install from USB Stick: Couldn't get machine to recognize the .iso Install into Oracle's Vbox: Got the boot splash screen, then hangs with a zillion errors. Note: I didn't have any problems installing ubuntu in Vbox on my iMac and it run's great. Installed using wubi: Installed fine but get errors when booting ubuntu (it doesn't find the needed wubi files). I downloaded to the C: drive and tried installing from there - no luck. For kicks: I tried running Slax Linux .iso from a USB stick and it runs fine. Some Questions: Did I use the correct .iso? (I tried 12.04.0 and 12.04.1 both 32 and 64 bit versions. I simply downloaded them from the download link and didn't use/look for an alternate version. Do I need to do something special when burning the .iso to disc? What? I did read tons of posts but, no luck with finding the solution. Any help is appreciated... thanks

• How to Boot or "enter" into ubnutu 11.04 (Natty Narwhall) on PS3 after installing it?

  After failing to install ubuntu 11.04 Desktop version (burned on a dvd, because iso's file size was 726 Mb), in tried the alternate version (about 686 Mb) which i burned into a CD. During the installation process, i manually partitioned the hard drive using ext3. After the installation, the CD ejects itself and i hit "continue". In the k boot prompt i hit "enter" on my the keyboard. I see i welcome message in a dark background (a kind of full screen terminal/console called CLI i think) and was asked to enter my user name and password. After that, instead of booting into the beautiful desktop of Ubuntu, i saw this: ubuntu@my_name$ It was like a line of command i think, where you can use "sudo" commands. It is called a non-graphic mode i think. My my REAL problem is to enter Ubuntu 11.04 with the chocolate-colored background and the African music drum. I tried many commands to boot into the graphic mode of the system such as Ctr+Alt+F7 but nothing happened. In this case, i just saw numbers showing available blocks. I DON'T UNDERSTAND. I also tried startx and sudo startx without result. I DO bought a PS3 BOTH for gaming and for Ubuntu because i can't afford buying a PC. Please help me with my trouble dear Ubuntu 11.04 users.
