  • Why is giving a fixed width to a label an accepted behavior?

    - by kemp
There are a lot of questions about formatting forms so that labels align, and almost all the answers which suggest a pure CSS solution (as opposed to using a table) provide a fixed width to the label element. But isn't this mixing content and presentation? In order to choose the right width you basically have to see how big your longest label is and try a pixel width value until "it fits". This means that if you change your labels you also have to change your CSS.

  • Expand a window beyond Windows limitation

    - by Pierre
I try to setup UltraMon with a really big width and height for my Safari on Windows. See capture : http://cl.ly/de21e9cd2cf4f265efc4 The problem is that the width and height seems to have a max value that I would like to change. I want UltraMon not to change my width and height, even if they are bigger than the screen resolution.

  • Merging some sorted lists with unknown order sequence

    - by Gabriel
I've some sorted lists with variable number of elements. I wold like to merge the lists into one big list which contains all other lists in same order, without duplicates. Example: 1. XS,M,L,XL 2. S,M,XXL 3. XXS,XS,S,L Result: XXS,XS,S,M,L,XL,XXL The function should notify, if there are elements which have ambiguous positions. Here, it would be XXL and I need to specify its position after XL.

  • Sending an int array through Winsocks

    - by seed
I'm trying to send an int array through Winsocks. I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure only a char* is supported so I'm kind of stuck on how to do this properly. There are also problems with little/big edian, so what would be a good way to do this? I've already asked a question of converting int array to char but it was recommended to start a new thread on this in the networking section instead.

  • I'm tired of JButtons, how can I make a nicer GUI in java ?

    - by Jules Olléon
So far I've only build "small" graphical applications, using swing and JComponents as I learned at school. Yet I can't bear ugly JButtons anymore. I've tried to play with the different JButton methods, like changing colors, putting icons etc. but I'm still not satisfied. How do you make a nicer GUI in java ? I'm looking for not-too-heavy alternatives (like, without big frameworks or too complicated libraries).

How do I do this? Example of the query I am running: CREATE TABLE cert_Certifications ( certificationID int PRIMARY KEY IDENTITY, profileID int, cprAdultExp datetime null ) I've tried COMMENT'Expiration Date for the Adult CPR' and COMMENT='Expiration Date for the Adult CPR' after the data type, and SQL server is giving me an error.

  • Find slow/ineffecient method calls in dotnet

    - by Matt Thrower
Hi, I'm faced with a big old stack of method calls in some legacy code, one or some of which is creating a bottleneck and really slowing things down. Is there any quick way I can get a report on which method calls are taking the time, short of running in debug, stepping through and seeing where the cursor pauses?

  • Send shrink Command to Microsoft SQL Database file via Ado.net connection

    - by user287107
How is it possible to execute a direct SQL command to an ADO.NET connected database? I want to send a DBCC SHRINKDATABASE to the SQL server, to compress the current datafile after a big deletion process. The function ObjectContext::CreateQuery returns a parser error after the DBCC command. Is there any other way to shrink the database file, or another way to send the SQL command directly to the SQL Server?
