  • Make an element visible to the user but invisible to events

    I'm not quite sure how to describe what I'm looking to do, but I'll do my best. At the moment I have a parent <div>, with absolutely positioned child <div>s within it, and I'm tracking the mouse pointer location coordinates relative to the element your mouse is over. At the moment, when I mouse over my child <div>s, I get the mouse location relative to them, but I want the coordinates to be relative the the parent <div> even when mousing over the child elements. So I basically want the child elements to be visible, but transparent to the mousemove, so I want the mousemove to go straight through to the parent element. How would I do this? Do I maybe need to somehow make the parent <div> be in the forground but still have the child <div>s show through? or make a transparent <div> overlay just to get the mouse coordinates?     Hi all, I'm creating a myDb.plist file in my resources folder and trying to read it, but it's not getting read. I'm using the following code. NSString* plistPath = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"myDb" ofType:@"plist"]; contentArray = [NSArray arrayWithContentsOfFile:plistPath]; contentArray is showing null. Can anybody please help me? Thanx in advance.

  • JavaScript OnClick Handler Not Invoking

    I'm calling a javascript function in an inline onclick like so: <a href="#" onclick="removeAttribute('foo', 'bar');">Some Link</a> When I click on the link, though, nothing happens. I have other links (to other functions) tied to onclicks that work fine elsewhere on the same page. All links to this "removeAttribute" function fail. There are no errors in Firebug, and the onclick event handler is being invoked - but stepping into the removeAttribute function ends up, for some reason, somewhere in jQuery.js. At no point does removeAttribute ever get called. If I do: javascript:removeAttribute('foo', 'bar'); in Firefox's address bar. The function is called successfully. Anyone seen this?

  • Back button causes iFrame to delay window.onLoad event

    I serve ads through an iFrame. The ad network's servers are much slower than mine, so I asyncronously load the iFrame after the window.onLoad event. Event.observe( window, 'load', function() { $('ad').writeAttribute('ad.html'); } ); A problem occurs when you enter the site via the browser's back button. Unexpectedly, the ad iFrame attempts to load immediately, delaying window.onLoad for a few seconds. During these few seconds, the site is unusable because I do a bunch of initialization after window.onLoad. As far as I know, this only happens in Firefox. How do I prevent this blocking load?

  • innerHTML and event delegation

    Hello, I have a containing div that has multiple divs within which is updated every 25ms using innerHTML (for performance reasons). I have tried using event delegation to capture events but nothing I seem to do captures the click event. I think this may be due to the speed that the contents are getting updated.   • MooTools - Programmatically fired events not working with event delegation

    Would really appreciate if anyone can help me figure out why I am unable to fire events programmatically when using event delegation in MooTools (from the Element.Delegation class). There is a parent <div> that has a change listener on some child <input> elements. When the change event is triggered by user actions, the handler on the parent div gets triggered, but when I fire it programmatically with fireEvent on any child input, nothing happens. The basic setup is: html <div id="listener"> <input type="text" id="color" class="color" /> ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????</div>??????????? js $("listener").addEvent("change:relay(.color)", function() { alert("changed!!"); }); $("color").fireEvent("change"); // nothing happens The event handler on the parent div does not get called.     Hello, I have a transparent table with width:100% which contains some html content. I use the table in order to position a content element on the screen center. The table captures mouse events, and the user can't press on links which are positioned beneath it (although it is transparent). Is there a way to tell the browser to ignore events on the table? I want to capture events only from the content inside the table (and from the rest of the site). Thanks Yaron

The actual file name is stored in an NSUserDefault called recentDownload. When I build this, I click the button which this is under, and my application crashes. Is there anything wrong with the syntax or just simple error?

    Hey guys, I don't think I'm getting it right. Here is my most recent query that I believe is almost working. SELECT max(sender_id) as sender_id, subject, MAX(id) as message_id, MAX(created_at) as updated_at FROM messages where (recipient_id = #{current_user} and recipient_deleted = 'f') or sender_id = #{current_user} GROUP BY subject ORDER BY max(created_at) DESC ; Basically the goal is to fetch all recent messages of a user, group them by subject, and make sure that the photo that is showing up is the other party's photo, never the current user. (also need the most recent message body and message count but that is for another time) Here is what I think is wrong. doing max(sender_id) is wrong, since the current_user id could be higher than the sender's id. I am using the sender_id in the html page to fetch the user's photo.

I'm assigning a tag to that label, but I'm not able to fetch it using "cell.contentView viewWithTag:1". I perfectly understand that the label is not on contentView, but then how do I fetch it?     Hi, I have created a usercontrol and I want to put its generated html using a javascript file in a webpage. But couldnt do so. Like <script src='file.aspx'></script> should add the html from the usercontrol to the container div. The file "file.aspx" has its content-type set to "text/javascript". And using LoadControl() method I am loading the usercontrol, and then using its RenderControl method, I am able to get its generated html. But I couldnt show it up in the webpage. But I am able to add single line html content , but multiline consumed my whole day :( .

    I am enjoying the fact that I'm here building a private message inbox for my website after building a full user signup/login and activation system when a few months ago I thought I wouldn't have enough patience to learn this stuff. Anyway to my question. I am currently building the private message inbox for my users and wondering if there are any jquery/javascript stuff I can use to make my inbox more like the gmail inbox. E.G. Gmail allows you to select all read messages or unread or starred or unstarred or none of the messages using a checkbox. I would like to add this kind of feature to my website and I'm sure the easiest way to achieve this would be using a jquery/javascript script. I would appreciate if someone could provide some links or info to where I can find several of these types of scripts to use with my inbox page. Thanks EDIT: Would also like to note that I would like the checkbox to be in a dropdown just like gmails.

    We are writing an ASP.NET MVC application. By default, if the client browser has Javascript, the handler for every form on the page is set, by Javascript, to be one that sends the submission down an Ajax "pipe" (progressive enhancement). But, for one form (on a page of several), I'd like this handler to be bypassed/ignored. Is there a simple way to do this? Perhaps by overriding the handler by specifying my own onsubmit event directly in the DOM - or some other method? We use jQuery, so those libraries are available to me.

  • using javascript setTimeout to see if div has loaded

    I'm loading remote data using dynamic script tags and JSON. the remote page that I'm displaying on my website has a div in it that I use to load content into. The problem is the javascript functions do not see the div as the page loads because it is remote data. if I set a timeout of about 300 it usually works and my javascipt can see the div. But sometimes it takes longer and it breaks the javascript. I'm tring this: function load_content() { if(document.getElementById('remote_div')==null) { setTimeout('load_content()', 300); } else { document.getElementById('remote_div').innerHTML = 'Content goes here' } } but it just doesn't seem to work... what is wrong with it?

  • iPhone SDK: Why is didSelectRowAtIndexPath not being fired?

    I have a view with a table on it. When the app starts, it loads the first 5 visble cells. That works as expected. My problem is that, when I try to scroll down in the table the app crashes with this error. What I've found is that didSelectRowAtIndexPath is not being called. AFAIK, all I need to do is to subscribe to the delegate. The fql which is happening at the web is giving me right results but the fql happening at the iphone is not giving all the results. select name, pic_square, pic_big, uid, sex, birthday, relationship_status , current_location, meeting_sex, interests, music, tv, movies, books, quotes, education_history, work_history from user where uid = XXXXXXX is giving me different result in web when compared to the iphone.     Let's say I do this: $("#content").load(...); Within what I'm loading some javascript is included: var myCounter = 0; var myInterval = setInterval(function(){ myCounter++; $("#counter-display").html("Count: "+myCounter); }); For an unknown reason, if I reload the content with $("#content").load(...); - myInterval is now being called twice. I tried doing something like: if (myInterval !== undefined){ //dont set interval again } However, it doesn't work. Does anyone know any method so that myInterval is cleared on .load, without needing to put the javascript outside of the loaded file?
