• Default file manager changed, can't change back

  (Using ubuntu 11.04) I tried to open a torrent file in chrome, and it asked for my default application, so I clicked Transmission, and then I got an error: "Failed to execute default file manager, Failed to execute child process "transmission" (No such file or directory)." Now if I click on any shortcut on the unity bar, such as the trash folder or the icon for my portable hard drive, I get this error, as well as with any download or folder from chrome or firefox. I can't seem to figure out how to fix this, as there seems to be no easy way to do it.

  i created a symbolic Link from a File at "/opt/bladir/bla" to "bla". So "bla" is now in "/usr/bin/bla". But if i want to call "bla" at terminal, there comes the No such file or directory error. I looked up at "/usr/bin/bla" and the file is linking correctly at "/opt/bladir/bla". What can be the error? P.S. here is my terminal "entry": sudo ln -s /opt/bladir/bla bla Thanks! €: Problem solved. According to the Feature List, 12.04 should have Multiarch support... 'should'. I got the ia32-libs from synaptic and now the program wents just fine. As it looks, my symbolic links where correct. Thank you for all the answers!

• Phishing alert but file never existed

  I got an alert from Google Webmasters. They say the following file was present in my host: example.com/~jhostgop/identity.php I checked my files and it never existed at all. I've experience this problem in two different host and domains but the file never existed in my file system. It appears somebody out there is linking a random domain and it prefixes the link with /~jhostgop/identity.php. Now Google may have indexed them so now I get those false phishing alerts. Anyone experienced this? Is it possible to prevent this?

  I made a link on my Desktop to the launcher file "Compiz" in /usr/share/applications/. When I try to execute it I get: "The application launcher "Link to compiz.desktop" has not been marked as trusted. If you do not know the source of this file, launching it may be unsafe." So my question is how to make such a launcher on my Desktop? • chrome download interrupted leaving ".crdownload" temporary file

  I am using Google Chrome 15.0.874.121 in Ubuntu 10.10. It was fine until recently. Whenever download a file, it always reports "Interrupted", but it actually finishes the downloading, leaving an intermediate file with extension ".crdownload". If removed the extension, the file will be perfect. Note that downloading in Firefox works fine at the same time. So I wonder if it is a bug or how I can fix it? Thanks and regards!

  So I downloaded the latest version of Java from Oracle so I could get a 64bit JVM on Ubuntu Server 10.10. After extracting the file and updating the alternatives I went to check my installation by running java -version and I get this error: -bash: /usr/bin/java: cannot execute binary file I'm at a loss for what to do here. I am trying to browse it from multiboot installer(YUMI) but I don't know why Multiboot Installer is unable to detect it as it is a iso file. I tried renaming the file .iso. but nothing worked for me. After selecting the file,i need to open the file for reading the data from the text file.For this, i used the following code to open the text file. fp=File.OpenText(FileUpload2.PostedFile.FileName) This is working fine in my system.The FileUpload2.PostedFile.FileName statement gives the path of the file.The File.OpenText method opens the selected file.But when i run my project in IIS,it gives the following error: "File.OpenText is not declared." The FileUpload2.PostedFile.FileName statement is not retrieving the path, it retrieves only only the filename.what could be the reason?

  I have compiled all of my sound effects into one sequenced .ogg file. I have the start and stop times for each sound effect. How do I play the individual effects? That is, how do I play part of an audio file. More specificially, I've created a dictionary { 'sword_hit': { src: 'sfx.ogg', start: 265, // ms length: 212 // ms } } that my play_sound() function can use to look up 'sword_hit' and play the correct audio file at the correct start time for the correct duration. I simply need to know how to tell the WebAudio API to start playing at start ms and only play for length ms.

  When coping a file greater than 64kB from an Ubuntu server to a CIFS mounted windows share, most of the data is copied, but it seems the last chunk doesn't get copied. The size doesn't match, and the md5 check sums don't match. I have plenty of file space, but then I use cp, I get the following... cp: closing `cloudBackup/asdf.txt': No space left on device Using rsync, I get the following... rsync: close failed on "/home/fluffy/cloudBackup/.asdf.txt.qrBWe6": No space left on device (28) rsync error: error in file IO (code 11) at receiver.c(752) [receiver=3.0.8] rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (29 bytes received so far) [sender] rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(601) [sender=3.0.8] I have full read/write permissions on the mounted share. • Powerpoint file can be deleted without consequence

  I am working on a license management type application that copies a password protected zip file to the applications root. The user clicks a button "Open Presentation" and the zipped file is extracted into the root folder and then I use the Office interop to open the file in Powerpoint. At this point to my surprise I am able to delete the extracted file that is currently open in the Powerpoint application. I had assumed that trying to delete the file would fail as the file is still open in Powerpoint. Why is it allowing me to delete the file? Is the file somehow copied to a temp folder and then opened in PowerPoint? Can I move forward with the application relying on this ability to delete the file as soon as it is opened in Powerpoint? This would be optimal because it helps insure that the file cannot be copied(I am also using the xml to stop "Save As" and "Save" from appearing int Powerpoint). Thanks for the insight, John

It is targeted to the future me, maintainer, debugger and so on. And there is Usage Documentation, containing information how to use a provided api. It does not contain information about specific implementation and is targeted to users of the api. How do I include both of them in one file? (Or do I include both of them in one file? And if not, what type belongs into the source file?) Are there special techniques, using java-doc and/or best practices?

But disk health is ok(according to smart tools). I can not change my HDD right now. So decide to reduce disk operation. My system does not have the SecureBoot and UEFI option. i downloaded the ubuntu 12.04 iso file frm the website. it contains WUBI.EXE. when i run wubi it starts downloading an ISO file for ubuntu again. I tried the option of putting the ISO file and Wubi.exe in an empty folder and then running it but it still downloads a new ISO. cant i use the ISO i already have?

  I have an application with a configuration file that is stored in the application bundle. This config file stores the names of images on a remote server. Whenever the application is started, I download the configuration file from the server and see if there are any changes or updates. If there are changes, I iterate over the array of configuration settings and download the changed images to the user's iPhone I think that I will first list all of the name changes in an array, and after that start loading that changed images. However, I'm wondering if there is a better approach to solving this problem.

  I'm trying to a make a simple .deb package, which would basically edit a config of another package I listed as a dependency. I added the required manipulations to the postinstall file. The problem is I can't find a way to package an example config, which should be copied and edited from the postinstall script. At the moment I just have a folder with the sample config, of which I'm creating a tar.gz and orig.tar.gz, then dh_make in that folder, edit the generated files and run debuild. However if I open the resulting .deb file with an archive manager, I can see that the sample file was not included at all.

I am supposed to create a file of 10 MB whose bits are all set to 0, format it as ext3 and mount it. The permissions on /media/fuse are drw-rw-rw- (which are alright), but the permissions on the files inside it are something like this: d????????? ? ? ? ? ? lost+found -????????? ? ? ? ? ? secret_bin Where have I gone wrong?

I think it failed because of $(basename %U), if it is changed to a fixed string, the iso file can be mounted. How can I solve this problem?
