  • Problems using Custom Layout in XML

    - by Kevin
I've created a new GridLayout class that I want to use in an XML File. The class is in another project. I've created the attrs.xml file in the other project with my properties but when the constructor gets called with the AttributeSet, none of the values are set. In my xml for my screen layout, I refer to the layout with the following: xmlns:gridLayout="@com.mastertechsoftware.AndroidUtil:http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/com.mastertechsoftware.AndroidUtil" Not sure if that is right. I have the attrs.xml file being compiled to R.java in com/mastertechsoftware/AndroidUtil. All the right styleable values are there. In my constructor, I use: TypedArray a = c .obtainStyledAttributes(attrs, R.styleable.GridLayout); this.numRows = a.getInt(R.styleable.GridLayout_numRows, -1); Nothing comes back (-1 does but that means nothing is there) If I use int n = a.getIndexCount(); I get 0.

  • Clear button at uisearchbar not working at all

    - by kevin.ng
I created a search bar programmatically and added to my view using the codes below: - (void)viewDidLoad { searchBar = [[UISearchBar alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(xPositionForSearchBar, yPositionForSearchBar, widthForSearchBar, heightForSearchBar)]; UIView *bg = [[searchBar subviews] objectAtIndex:0]; searchBar.delegate = self; searchBar.placeholder = @"Search record"; for(UIView *view in searchBar.subviews){ if([view isKindOfClass:[UITextField class]]){ UITextField *tf = (UITextField *)view; tf.delegate = self; break; } } [bg removeFromSuperview]; [self.view addSubview: searchBar]; } The code is implemented with UISearchBarDelegate and UITextFieldDelegate. I have tried using - (void)searchBarCancelButtonClicked:(UISearchBar *)aSearchBar { NSLog(@"cancel clicked"); searchBar.text = @""; [aSearchBar resignFirstResponder]; } - (BOOL)textFieldShouldClear:(UITextField *)textField { NSLog(@"clear"); [self performSelector:@selector(searchBarCancelButtonClicked:) withObject:searchBar afterDelay: 0.1]; return YES; } and yet, the text inside the searchBar is not cleared at all when i click on the "clear button" - a circle with a "X" inside. The clear button works when I implemented it in IB. Wonder why? Kindly advice, many thanks.

  • 4GB limitation on these embedded/express DBs good enough? what's next if limitation is reached?

    - by edwin.nathaniel
I'm wondering how long a (theoretically) desktop-app can consume the full 4GB limitation of these express/embedded database products (SQL-Server Express, Oracle Express, SQLite3, etc) provided that big blobs will be stored in filesystem. Also what would be your strategy when it hits the 4GB? Archive the old DB Copy 1-3 months of data to the new DB (consider this as cache strategy?) Start using the new DB from this point onward (How do you access the old data?) I understand that the answer might varies depending on how much data you stored in the table/column. But please describe based on your experience (what kind of desktop-app, write/read heavy, how long will it reach according to your guess).

  • Is there any convinient way that i can deepclone 'style' instance in silverlight?

    - by Kevin Yang
if a style is used, it can not be modified agaign. so i need a clone method. but its hard to implement. what i want to do is implementing a cascading 'style' mechanism. for example, i set two style to the same frameworkelement. the same property of latter style will override the former one, while the different property remain unchanged. but if i set the style property of the frameworkelement twice directly, the 1st style will be gone. so i use the baseon property of style class to do that. but now come across another problem, the style can not be modified after it's been set to a frameworkelement. so now i need a clone method.

  • Rails - Dynamic cookie domains using Rack

    - by Tim B.
I'm fairly new to Rails and Rack, but this guy had a seemingly straightforward write-up about using Rack to implement dynamic session domain middleware. The code looks good to and I've implemented it here on my local machine, but I'm still not able to transcend top level domains on a single login. Here's the middleware code: class SetCookieDomain def initialize(app, default_domain) @app = app @default_domain = default_domain end def call(env) host = env["HTTP_HOST"].split(':').first env["rack.session.options"][:domain] = custom_domain?(host) ? ".#{host}" : "#{@default_domain}" @app.call(env) end def custom_domain?(host) domain = @default_domain.sub(/^\./, '') host !~ Regexp.new("#{domain}$", Regexp::IGNORECASE) end end And then in environment.db: config.load_paths += %W(#{RAILS_ROOT}/app/middlewares) Lastly in production.db (and development.db): config.middleware.use "SetCookieDomain", ".example.org" Any help is greatly appreciated. EDIT: I'm running Rails 2.3.3 and Rack 1.0

  • Can I use Cassandra to store objects?

    - by Sandeep
Hi, My application works like this. A database(Mysql) where there is a command. The command is an object(consists of fields many fields like ints ans strings). There is a webservice which interact with the database and get the command from the db and performs some operation. The way how I am storing the command into db is by stripping all the fields and inserting them in to the db. Can I use cassandra in place of mysql and store the command object?

Thanks.

  • Is there a Veil-like plug-in for MySQL?

    - by Kevin
We have a MySQL database and would like to have row-level security implemented at the database level. I have been playing with the Veil plug-in for PostgreSQL and like what it does. Is there something similar for MySQL so we do not have to convert over to PostgreSQL?

  • wxPython formatting questions

    - by Kevin
I have an app I was working on to learn more about wxPython( I have been primarily been a scripter ). I forgot about it now I am opening it back up. It's a screen scraper, and I have it working almost the way I want it, going to build a regex parser to strip out the links in every scrape that I don't need. The questions I have are this. In it current state, if I check more than one site, it goes out and scrapes, and returns it in separate windows, the for:each section in the Clicked function. I want to put them in a frame, in the window, altogether. I also want to know if I can take the list they are read into and send it to a checklist, so someone could check off separate items, I want to build a save function and keep certain ones. In regards to a save function, I want to keep saved checks, are there calls to the widgets to save their states? I know it's a lot, but thanks for the help.

  • Recommend ONE favorite SSIS component that does SFTP/FTPS

    - by Kevin Fairchild
Sometimes normal FTP doesn't quite cut it... When you need to do secure FTP via SSIS packages, what ONE product would you recommend? Before answering, please see if someone has already suggested the same thing and, if so, vote it up. NOTE: Ideally, it needs to handle both SSH and SSL FTP connections, but I'd consider two separate components if it makes the most sense....

  • rake test and test_structure.sql

    - by korinthe
First of all, I have to run "rake RAILS_ENV=test ..." to get the test suites to hit my test DB. Annoying but ok to live with. However when I do so, I get a long stream of errors like so: > rake RAILS_ENV=test -I test test:units psql:/path/to/project/db/test_structure.sql:33: ERROR: function "armor" already exists with same argument types [and many more] It looks like some DB definitions are getting unnecessarily reloaded. I can't find any mention of this on Google, so I was wondering whether others have seen this? I am using a PostgreSQL database with the following in my environment.rb: config.active_record.schema_format = :sql and using Rails 2.3.5 with rake 0.8.7.

  • Adding text labels to sliders in iPhone Settings application

    - by Kevin L.
When configuring a Settings.bundle as part of an iPhone application bundle, it's trivial to add minimum and maximum value images to sliders (PSSliderSpecifier), but not simple maximum and minimum text labels. http://developer.apple.com/iPhone/library/documentation/PreferenceSettings/Conceptual/SettingsApplicationSchemaReference/Articles/PSSliderSpecifier.html iPhone gurus: Is anyone aware of a simple means to apply text labels to these sliders for use within the Settings application (therefore, no slider subclassing shenanigans; it all has to be done via a plist)? I suppose I could just use an image of the label but...ew. Bonus points if there's a way to show the current value of a slider in some sort of number format.

  • Clojure warn-on-reflection and type hints

    - by Ralph
In the following code, I am getting a warning on reflection: (ns com.example (:import [org.apache.commons.cli CommandLine Option Options PosixParser])) (def *help-option* "help") (def *host-option* "db-host") (def *options* (doto (Options.) (.addOption "?" *help-option* false "Show this usage information") (.addOption "h" *host-option* true "Name of the database host"))) (let [^CommandLine command-line (.. (PosixParser.) (parse *options* (into-array String args))) db-host (.getOptionValue command-line "h")] ; WARNING HERE ON .getOptionValue ; Do stuff with db-host ) I have a type hint on command-line. Why the warning? I am using Clojure 1.2 on OS X 10.6.6 (Apple VM). I assume that I do not get a warning on (.addOption ...) because the compiler knows that (Options.) is a org.apache.commons.cli.Options).

  • Delete/move a UITableView row that's attached to a web service.

    - by Kevin L.
Deleting or moving rows for a UITableView that is backed with local data (e.g., NSArray) is easy and instantaneous: Remove the value from the array. Call deleteRowsAtIndexPaths:withRowAnimation:. Profit! But my table view communicates with a web service, which means once the "Delete" button on that row gets tapped, I have to forward a request on to the server (via ASIHTTPRequest, of course), get the response, and then tell the table view to run its little delete-row animation, all with a few seconds of latency in between. From a high-level, what's the best way to do that? Throw some callback selector into ASIHTTPRequest's userInfo dictionary? KVO? Bonus points for some nice UI touch, like some kind of spinner on the soon-to-be-deleted cell.

  • EJB3.1 logout doesn't work

    - by Kevin
Hello, I've got a problem with the authentication features of EJB3.1: With this code in a Servlet v3: log.info(""+request.getUserPrincipal()); log.info(""+request.getAuthType()); log.info("===^==="); request.logout() ; log.info(""+request.getUserPrincipal()); log.info(""+request.getAuthType()); request.authenticate(response) ; log.info("===v==="); log.info(""+request.getUserPrincipal()); log.info(""+request.getAuthType()); I would always expect to see the Username/login windows, because of the logout() function. Instead, it seems to be a 'cache' mechanism which repopulate the credential and cancel my logout ... Admin BASIC ===^=== null null ===v=== Admin BASIC is it a problem with my firefox, or something I'm missing in the Servlet code? Thanks

  • % confuses python raw sql query

    - by Jonathan
Following this SO question, I'm trying to "truncate" all tables related to a certain django application using the following raw sql commands in python: cursor.execute("set foreign_key_checks = 0") cursor.execute("select concat('truncate table ',table_schema,'.',table_name,';') as sql_stmt from information_schema.tables where table_schema = 'my_db' and table_type = 'base table' AND table_name LIKE 'some_prefix%'") for sql in [sql[0] for sql in cursor.fetchall()]: cursor.execute(sql) cursor.execute("set foreign_key_checks = 1") Alas I receive the following error: C:\dev\my_project>my_script.py Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:\dev\my_project\my_script.py", line 295, in <module> cursor.execute(r"select concat('truncate table ',table_schema,'.',table_name,';') as sql_stmt from information_schema.tables where table_schema = 'my_db' and table_type = 'base table' AND table_name LIKE 'some_prefix%'") File "C:\Python26\lib\site-packages\django\db\backends\util.py", line 18, in execute sql = self.db.ops.last_executed_query(self.cursor, sql, params) File "C:\Python26\lib\site-packages\django\db\backends\__init__.py", line 216, in last_executed_query return smart_unicode(sql) % u_params TypeError: not enough arguments for format string Is the % in the LIKE making trouble? • Instantiating class by string using PHP 5.3 namespaces

    - by Kevin
I can't get around an issue instantiating a new class by using a string variable and PHP 5.3. namespaces. For example, this works; $class = 'Reflection'; $object = new $class(); However, this does not; $class = '\Application\Log\MyClass'; $object = new $class(); A fatal error gets thrown stating the class cannot be found. However it obviously can be instantiated if using the FQN i.e.; $object = new \Application\Log\MyClass; I've found this to be aparrent on PHP 5.3.2-1 but not not in later versions. Is there a work around for this?

  • Temporarily Disallow JQuery Toggle

    - by Kevin Sylvestre
I have a menu that is toggled when a user selects a link. The menu has an animation attached, and I want to prevent toggling while the animation is running. The following snippet works, but flips the state of toggle if the link is clicked quickly twice (i.e. if the user clicks the link quickly twice, the next click will trigger the same action): <a href="" id="button">Menu</a> <div id="menu">...</a> <script> $("#button").toggle( function (e) { if $("#menu").is(":animated")) return false; $menu.show("slow"); }, function (e) { if ("#menu").is(":animated")) return false; $menu.hide("slow"); } ); </script> How can I prevent switching states within toggle? Thanks.

  • How can I convert this column value to an integer?

  • inserting datetimes into database using java

    - by gordatron
Hi, I am wanting to insert a datetime into a MySql data base using Java and a prepared statement: Calendar cal = Calendar.getInstance(); PreparedStatement stmnt = db.PreparedStatement("INSERT INTO Run " + "(Time) VALUE (?) "); stmnt.setDate(1, new java.sql.Date(cal.getTime())); stmnt.executeQuery(); NOTE: thre is currently an error - cannot find symbol (java.sql.Date) line 4 here db is an instance of a sort of wrapper class that exposes what I need from java.sql - its just getting a prepared statement from my connection object here. Time (the column) is a date time in my database, and I can only see sedDate and setTime method but I want to store both - also my code does not work anyway ;-) if anyone could give me some pointers on inserting a combined date time (current time would be a great help as that's my first goal) into a MySql DB using a prepared statement I would be very grateful. Thanks

  • Forcing an app to run single core only?

    - by Kevin
I have this strange issue with some third party DLL's. The third party provider references some open source DLL's that have a memory exception whenever I try to use a certain method. This issue does not appear when the app is run on a single core machine, but obviously we cannot assume a user will have that. Is there a way to force an app, or even better yet a referenced DLL to run on a single core? Any other way to possibly fix this? Getting the third party to rebuild the OS dll's is apparently out of the question (its a bit of a sore spot with me currently :) ) so I have to handle it myself or just forget about providing this functionality.
