• How can I set a local branch to pull / merge from a particular remote branch?

  I have a local branch foo that started life as a branch off of master. Then I pushed it to my remote, and it's now happily living life with its siblings in remotes/origin I want pull to automatically pull from remotes/origin/foo, and I want status -sb to show me how many changes I am ahead of remotes/origin/foo. I thought the way to do this was git config branch.foo.merge 'refs/heads/foo' However, after doing that, I get this message: ? git status -sb ## foo ? git pull Your configuration specifies to merge with the ref 'foo' from the remote, but no such ref was fetched. What am I doing wrong?

  Hi Rails'ers, I encountered some problem while trying to translate my model's names and attributes in a Rails 2.3.5 app. I have the following model: class BillingPlan < ActiveRecord::Base validates_presence_of :billing_option_id belongs_to :order belongs_to :user belongs_to :billing_option end When validation fails, my models attributes are translated correctly, but the modelname itself is not. • Where do you store the private key for your code signing certificate?

  I recently acquired a code signing certificate for my employer, but I am not the InstallShield developer who will sign the binaries before distribution. I know I can export the certificate along with its private key, but where do I store it so the InstallShield developer can install it on his machine? Should I remove it from my machine once I give it to the person doing the signing? Where do I store the master copy? Obviously, source control is not the best place, unless I lock down that directory in SVN.

• MOSS 2007 BDC Profile Import fails for a few users

  We have set up a BDC Profile Import for Sharepoint 2007 and it works well for 99% of the users. A handful fails with the "Exception occured when calling into BIL connector for import from non master data source" message in the crawl log, though The ULS logs reveal the following information: Exception Profile Import: Exception occured when importing user: '[redacted]\[redacted]'. Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.PropertyInvalidValueException: Invalid Property Value: Could not find SID corresponding to input account name I have confirmed that the user has a sharepoint profile matching the username is a valid domain user exists in AD Can anyone help med troubleshoot this?

  Hello, I have an asp.net user control, userControl1.ascx, and another user control, userControl2.ascx. userControl2 is inside userControl1. userControl1 is inside an UpdatePanel control. userControl2 has a button in it then I want to have do a normal post back when pushed. I want to use ScriptManager.RegisterPostBackControl(button). I have a ScriptManager on a master page. I don't know how to access the ScriptManager in userControl2 to register the button in the Page_Load event. So, How can I do this?

• What is the scope of xsl apply-imports?

  My original idea about apply-imports was that if there are two templates which matches the same node, then using apply-imports in a template with higher priority runs the template with the lower priority. But I recently find out that it's important how are imports organized. Two cases interests me particularly. Will apply imports work on a template which is imported in imported file (nested import)? How about a "sibling import" (master file imports two files with templates matching the same nodes) It seems to me that this is not clearly described in specification. Could someone provide authoritative guidelines? EDIT: I can try those cases on my own, but there is always a danger that it will be implementation specific behavior.

• Need to merge multiple pdf's into a single PDF with Table Of Contents sections

  Will have 50-100 single PDF's that we'll be generating with a php script. PDF's are generally grouped into groups of 10-20. Each group needs to have it's own Table of Contents or Index, and then there also needs to be a Master Table of Contents or Index at the beginning. Or if that is too difficult we could get away with a single Table of Contents at the beginning. What's the best way to go about this? Will we need to create the Table of Contents and then export that to PDF and append it to the beginning and mash the rest of the files after that? Or is there a better solution? And what's the best tool for us to merge the pdf's? Will be running on a Linux server.

• Clean stop of Python bottle webserver when started from subprocess

  Hello all, I would like to embed the great Bottle web framework into a small application (1st target is Windows OS). This app starts the bottle webserver thanks to the subprocess module. import subprocess p = subprocess.Popen('python websrv.py') The bottle app is quite simple @route("/") def index(): return template('index') run(reloader=True) It starts the default webserver into a Windows console. All seems Ok except the fact that I must press Ctrl-C to close the bottle webserver. I would like that the master app terminates the webserver when it shutdowns. I can't find a way to do that (p.terminate() doesn't work in this case unfortunately) Any idea? Thanks in advance

• Need to access the Page object in Global.asax in the PreRequestHandlerExecute

  I have a huge website (containing around 5000+) pages. There is a theme functionality in the website where user can choose different colors for their profile. Now i want to use the ASP.net theme feature and put different CSS (for different colors) in the theme folder and in Global.asax i want check the user theme and render appropriate link element with the css. But my problem is, i am not able to access the Page element for adding the link in the page. Here is my code Dim page As System.Web.UI.Page = TryCast(System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Handler,System.Web.UI.Page) page.StyleSheetTheme = "Black" But when i run this code I get a Null reference error. P.s : My application is very huge so its not possible to have a master page or a base class and inherit it in every page. Please suggest.

  I cloned a project from github over to my desktop. I used to work on it form my laptop. However, on laptop heroku does not seem to work for this app eventhough i have it installed. First problem: heroku open >No app specified. >Run this command from app folder or set it adding --app <app name> I did not have to specify the --app on my laptop. Because I guess I did command heroku create initially on the lapop. Second Probelm: git push heroku master gives errors fatal: 'heroku' does not appear to be a git repository fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly and heroku list says !   How can I create a routing structure for a project management application where there are discrete controllers for all the relevant pieces such as TaskController, DocumentController etc and an Over arching controller. I would essentially like a structure like: http://server/Project/123/Task http://server/Project/123/Document I am using mvc1 so I have no access to areas etc. The project section will have a separate master page for project controllers such as task, document etc with a dfferent menu navigaton. • Databinding int32 to MaskedEditExtender enabled TextBox

  I have a master/detail scheme for editing an asp:GridView using an asp:DetailsView. One of my fields is for a phone number of type int64 (always 10 digits). I would like this field to always be displayed as (###)###-####. My issue is the first digit in the phone number is always truncated for my edit item field which I used a MaskedEditExtender to achieve the formatting. Here is my EditItemTemplate for the details view: <cc1:MaskedEditExtender TargetControlID="edtPROJ_Leader_Phone" Mask="(999)999-9999" runat="server" ClearMaskOnLostFocus="false" ClipboardEnabled="true" MaskType="Number" /> <asp:TextBox ID="edtPROJ_Leader_Phone" runat="server" Text='<%# Bind("PROJ_Leader_Phone") %>' ></asp:TextBox> When my details view is displayed for editing, the text box displays(_23)456-7890 for the integer 1234567890. • How to organized page specific CSS link tags with spark view pages and application.spark

  I'm currently using ASP.NET MVC 2 and the spark view engine. The main master page (application.spark) contains all of the CSS link tags that need to be present for all pages (global stuff). However, I have some content pages that have page specific CSS tags and currently I'm just sticking the link tag in the body as something like: <content name="MainContent"> <!-- page specific csss --> <link rel="stylesheet" href="/Content/css/page_specific.css" /> My problem is that when the page renders, this tag ends up in the which is not where it needs to be. Is there a solution for this? One idea I had was to check the controller in the Application.spark page and write out which page specific css file is required for that particular controller, however, that solution doesn't seem to scale well and I would imagine there is some way of creating the link in the child page and having it render where it's supposed to by the browser.

  There is some editor of latex that managed the labels for a multifile document?. I tried with TexMaker and LED, and they offers me suggestions about the labels present in the actual document and in the "Master" document but not the labels present in other files of the structure. I made a script to find those other labels but it will be real good that the suggestions covers all the file structure automatically. Finally i tried with Vim and Latex-Suite, this extension has that posibility but i have problem configuring the grep program despite having followed all the instructions found in their website and in the help files, :(. the structure is like this: document.tex mystyle.sty mybibliography.bib tex/file1.tex tex/file2.tex tex/... img/img1.png img/img2.png . . .

• SQL server virtual memory usage and performance

  Hello, I have a very large DB used mostly for analytics. The performance overall is very sluggish. I just noticed that when running the query below, the amount of virtual memory used greatly exceeds the amount of physical memory available. Currently, physical memory is 10GB (10238k bytes) whereas the virtual memory returns significantly more - 8388607k bytes. That seems really wrong, but I'm at a bit of a loss on how to proceed.   I am no expert in Programming Languages. But whenever I change the project, I am faced with Herculean challenge of learning the new programming language which takes weeks to master if not months.. With the previous experience of programming in different languages, I believe it takes few months of continuous programming to understand the amazing features the prog.language has to offer and to exploit. It makes me wonder, why cannot we have a single programming language which boasts all the amazing features from the existing programming language and make it mandatory for all the programmers to learn it.

When TortoiseGit has one branch it looks approximately like this: o | o <-- a commit sign | x When I split my work into a new branch, it looks like this: o | o--o | x when I split, from the master to another new branch it looks like this: o--o | o--o | x Is there a way for every new branch that I make, and work on, to have its own "line" ... what I mean: o-----o | o--o | x so they don't "vertically overlap". So that every branch, has its own vertical line I can follow (for some reason this looks rather confusing to me, the way it's done now). Do any other Git clients for Windows do this differently ?

  I have been trying to create a complex form with many nested models, and make it dynamic. Now I found that making a nested model isn't difficult with accepts_nested_attributes_for, but making it nested and dynamic was seemingly impossible if there were multiple nested models. I couldn't find any documentation for the :child_index option on line 16. When the form is created, a very large number is used as an index for new models, whereas existing models are indexed by their id. How does this work?

• How to export more than 1MB in XML format using sqlcmd and without an input file?

  Hello, In SQL Server 2008, I want to export the result of a stored procedure to a file using sqlcmd utility. Now the end of my stored procedure is a select statement with a "for xml path.." clause at the end. I read on BOL that if I don't want my output truncated when reaching 1MB file size, I have to use this :XML ON command, but it should be placed on its own line, before calling the stored procedure. Does any of you experts know if it is possible to do that without specifying an input file for sqlcmd? (I'm calling sqlcmd like this: exec master..xp_cmdshell 'sqlcmd -Q"exec storedProcedureName @param1=value1, @param2=value2" -o c:\exportResults.xml -h-1 -E', but "storedProcedureName" and its parameters can change, which would mean 1 input file per passed parameters to sqlcmd) Also, it seems that I can't use bcp instead of sqlcmd because my stored procedure is creating a temporary table and performing DML statements on it? Thanks a lot
