• clicking the debug button in Eclipse will not start debug mode

  i am running Eclipse 3.5.0 on a MacBook Pro using the Android SDK. i noticed that on this particular project i am working on i cant seem to actually enter debug mode. i click the little green bug icon in the tool bar and the app starts and runs. but if i switch over to the Debug Perspective i see no indication that it is running in debug mode. furthermore i can not hit any brake points that i have set. this makes debugging code a bit hard. Other projects that i am working on don't have this issue. any ideas on what i need to change in the project to get this to work?

EDIT Binding to an ObjectDataProvider doesn't seem to work because I'm binding to a list of items, and the ObjectDataProvider needs either a static method, or it creates it's own instance and uses that. • When is calculating or variable-reading faster?

  hi, to be honest, I don't really know what the "small green men" in my cpu and compiler do, so I sometimes would like to know :). Currently I would like to know what's faster, so that I can design my code in a more efficient way. So for example I want to calclate something at different points in my sourcecode, when will it be faster to calculate it once and store it in a variable that's read and used for the next points it's needed and when is it faster to calculate it everytime? I think it's depending on how "complex" and "long" the calculation is and how fast then cache is, where variables are stored, but I don't have any clue what's faster :). Thanks for any reply to my tiny but important question! Andreas PS: perhaps it's important to know that I code in JAVA, but it's more a genral question.

  Hi, I'm trying to optimize my page load times, and I'm using Pingdom to test the site response times. However, I'm not exactly sure what the various components of the "time bar" mean. Example link: http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/?url=http://neosmart.net/forums//&id=2230361 According to them, the portion of the bar that is yellow is the time between "start" and "connect" and the portion of the bar that is green is the time between "connect" and "first byte" with the blue section being the actual transfer time (time between "first byte" and "last byte"). If I'm trying to the first two (which take very long in my case), what's the recommended course of action? Thanks.

• Using IDataErrorInfo and setting Validation.HasError style

  In WPF using IDataErrorInfo and Style I want to create form where I can provide end user three different status while validating data To make the scenario more clear 1) I have textbox next to it I have icon which provides end user what kind of input textbox expects - Initial status with information icon 2) As soon as user enter data it validates it and decides whether it is valid or not - most of the time it will show cross (X) icon saying invalid data 3) As it is validating on UpdateSourceTrigger="PropertyChanged" it will turn cross icon to green check mark as soon as it gets validated i.e [ ] i (tooltip- Any valid user name ) [Ga ] X (tooltip- Invalid user name. Must be 5 char long) [Gaurav ] * (it will show only correct icon, meaning valid value) How can I achieve this using IDataErrorInfo and Style, I tried doing that but as soon as my form gets loaded it invalidates all the data and shows cross icon at the first time. I want to show different tooltip and different icon for three states (Initial info, Invalid data, Valid data)

• Subdomain on different host

  Hi everyone! I'm trying to host a subdomain for my site with a different hosting company and I'm running into issues on how to set it up. Here are the specifics: - Domain is registered with GoDaddy. - Nameservers are pointing to DiscountASP.net where ASP.NET app has been happily running for couple of years. - Would like blog.mydomain.com to point to my account with DreamHost.com to take advantage of their LAMP stack. I have added blog.mydomain.com to DreamHost (after adding mydomain.com) via their control panel. I thought I would be able to add a subdomain entry on GoDaddy to point to DreamHost, but all they allow is blog.mydomain.com = new url. In theory I could just take our .biz or .net domain and host it on DreamHost but was hoping I could do it all with a subdomain. So, to summarize I'd like to know if what I want to do is feasible and if so, how do I go about it (given the constraints of GoDaddy, DiscountASP, & DreamHost). Thanks, Matt

  Hello, i would by thankful for an official link (and section) of the specification for CSS, that explains if: .one two h1 {color:green;font-family:arial;} /*case 1 */ .one two h1 {color:blue;} /*case 2*/ will result in (when evaluated by the browser) .one two h1 {color:blue;font-family:arial;} /*case 3*/ or will it be: .one two h1 {color:blue;} /*case 4*/ ==I have read a lot about inheritance, specifity, cascading etc but I still have not found for the given example which rules apply here. In regard to specifity both elements are equal in specifity the case2 will be the most specify one (as it is equal specific but the last one). But does specifity always apply to the whole selector with ALL properties defined. Or only the the properties that are are in "competition" (and declared in both). thanks!!!!

Is this possible? I've been racking my brain and hitting the google but I can't find how and where to do this.

  The other day I was randomly browsing the web and I found some program that lets you write CSS aliases and other cool stuff (which I can't remember right now). As an example, I remember you can do something like this: .myclass { background-color: red; greenfont } where greenfont was defined somewhere else as somekind of alias greenfont { color: green; } Then the program will generate the resulting CSS based on the alias and other stuff. Does anyone has used this? Or did I dreamed about it? I cannot find it now :P

• How can I scrape the current webpage with php/javascript?

  I have made the following webpage for generating interactive todo lists: http://robert-kent.com/todo/todo.php Basically, the user pastes a numbered todo list and each task is placed into it's own div with a unique id. Users can add notes to the tasks (done with javascript) and can click the green check when the task is done to hide it. I'd like to add an Export button which would generate a report of which tasks were completed and which were not, along with the user-entered notes. After a bit of searching I understand that what I want to do is scrape the page, but I haven't the faintest idea of the best way to do it. Many of the articles and tutorials I have found with Google involve scraping other sites and don't really explain how I could iterate over each div on the page. • Paypal adaptive payment API call with C# .NET? Preferably with WebServices

  Okay I might be entirely off track now but here goes: Our "webshop" offers two functions, buying a specific product and selling it back to us. Back-end handles if the user can sell or not. I've decided to use Paypal's adaptive payments for this one as it seems the way to go doing these kinds of transactions. I've never implemented any kind of shop so I'm totally green with this one. I only recently learned ASP.NET and have mainly developed games before moving to this kind of development. HTTP is still some level of magic to me hehe.. I might be confused but I think paypal offers a webservice with their adaptive payment API. My humble request: A nice soul who wants to share an example of implementing an adaptive payment API call with C# .NET. If they don't offer it as a webservice I'll probably find it as a custom .dll or something. Any tips and examples are highly appreciated! Thanks for reading

  Howdy, I am trying to compile and install my first application onto my iPhone after setting up a profile and certificate. At this point I am getting the "No provisioned iPhone OS is connected" error when I Build & Go. I am using iPhone OS 3.1.3, and Xcode 3.2.2 on 10.6.3. • I have verified that my iPhone is connected to my development machine (it is seen on the computer by both iTunes and Xcode Organizer (in Organizer, it has the green dot next to it)). • I have rebooted the iPhone and restarted Xcode multiple times. • I have verified that the Bundle Identifier in my appname.plist is set to com.. (with the appropriate values between the angle brackets). I have looked the error message up on the web, and so far have not found a hint that has gotten me over the hump.... • PyGTK, Glade, Changing the window view and threads

  Heya Everyone, Forgive me if this seems like a stupid question, just so far no where on the internet can I find someone offering a solution to this and I just wanted to get some feedback from someone with more experience than myself (I've only been using python, pyGTK and Glade for 2 days now). I have a UI window displaying and it updates with messages from a thread that is handling a bluetooth connection. This is fine and I have the application closing and running quite reliably, the problem is, after a bluetooth connection is made I wish to maintain the bluetooth thread (i.e. keep the connection going) but completely change the UI of the main window. Now the impression I am getting from pyGTK applications made from glade, is that the easiest thing to do is just open a new window. Is this really the best option? Can I cut the tree of widgets off at the root, maintaining the window widget but add on a new set of widgets from a separate glade file? If opening a new window is the best option, am I right in assuming that the bluetooth thread can be kept alive during this transition, providing I update any callbacks? Any help or pointers would be great. Cheers, Matt

• Subversion - Do I need to reintegrate if I don't merge from trunk

  Hi, I have read quite a bit about the need to re-integrate when you merge from a branch back to the trunk in SVN (This article was really helpful http://blogs.open.collab.net/svn/2008/07/subversion-merg.html). The problem seems to come from the fact that people are regularly updating the branch from the trunk which means that the final merge back is reflective. In my use-case, we want to create a release branch which will live for as long as it takes to stabilise the branch and fix any bugs. To maintain stability we don't want to merge up from the trunk but we do want to regularly merge fixes down from the release branch so that trunk gets all the bug fixes for free. We also don't want to wait until the end of QA to merge back to trunk. We therefore want to: 1.) Create the branch 2.) Make regular changes to the branch (and trunk) 3.) Merge back to trunk regularly (daily perhaps) Since we will never merge up from trunk I don't think that we need to worry about the problems that re-intergrating is designed to fix. Can anyone see a problem with this approach? Cheers, Matt

  I'm an absolute beginner using IDLE (Python 2.6.4) to learn the basics. • Using listpreference and getting the key works but no ok button...

  I'm using listpreference in my android app and getting my key values and all is well and works good (now that you guys have helped me) BUT - when my listpreference menus popup, they only contain a cancel button. Let's say the user is choosing between red, blue, and green. When the listpreference dialog first pops-up, the dialog only shows a cancel button. Because of that, the dialog disappears as soon as the user selects their choice. I would like it so that when the user chooses their setting, they see the radio button get highlighted and then they go ahead and click the ok button...but I don't have an ok button and can't figure out why. Any help would be awesome...al

  Hi there, I need to model the following situation and I can't seem to find a consistent example on how to do it "correctly" for the google app engine. Suppose I've got a simple situation like the following: [Company] 1 ----- M [Stare] A company has one to many stores. Each store has an address made up of a address line 1, city, state, country, postcode etc. Ok. Lets say we need to create say an "Audit". An Audit is for a company and can be across one to many stares. So something like: [Audit] 1 ------ 1 [Company] 1 ------ M [Store] Now we need to query all of the "audits" based on the Store "addresses" in order to send the "Auditors" to the right locations. There seem to be numerous articles like this one: http://code.google.com/appengine/articles/modeling.html Which give examples of creating a "ContactCompany" model class. However they also say that you should use this kind of relationship only when you "really need to" and with "care" for performance. I've also read - frequently - that you should denormalize as much as possible thereby moving all of the "query-able" data into the Audit class. So what would you suggest as the best way to solve this? I've seen that there is an Expando class but I'm not sure if that is the "best" option for this. • ShowDialog won't run

  I've come across a situation where I try to run a simple line of code in a method Dim res As DialogResult = frmOptions.ShowDialog() but nothing happens. The dialog box will not appear. If I run this method from another location in the code it executes fine (i.e. displays the form in dialog mode and code executes fine thereafter). Hence, it may be the way in which I arrive at this code that is causing my problem, but I cannot see to find what is wrong. When I pause the debugger the line of code is highlighted in green but I can't see to step over it or into it. Any idea what may cause this to happen, or what I should be looking for that might be causing the problem?? Thanks for the help!

  Hello! Basically I want two mix two colours color1 and color2. Since simple calculation's bring up stuff like blue+yellow = grey ((color1.r + color2.r)/2 etc) i did some research and found that apparently mixing colors in order for the mixed color to look like we expect it too (e.g. blue+yellow = green) isn't that straight forward. What another stackoverflow post taught me was that in order two achieve the mixture correctly i'd have to use the L*a*b* space / CIELAB and linked to the wikipedia page about this topic. I found it informative but i couldn't really understand how to convert RGB to (sRGB and than to) L*a*b* - how to mix the obtained colors and how to convert back I hope somebody here can help me Thanks, Samuel

How can i do that in WPF,C#. And the newly added item should get added in first place. • WPF UC in Winforms occasionally has an odd border to the left / visually corrupted

  I have a WPF user control I created that is used to show the state of tasks in my UI. I get the odd report back that the control sometimes has a nasty looking border to the left and I cannot reproduce it. The control looks like this (when working) (grey tick=not run, green=OK,red cross=fail,hourglass=running); It looks like this when the problem occurs; It may have something to do with the layering of those icons, when the state changes the others are made invisible and the relevant icon is made visible. The four icons are all stacked on top of each other. It could also be the background in theory, which I'll look at next. Problem is reported on both flat panel and CRT displays. Any guidance greatly appreciated. Update: 1) SnapsToDevicePixels does not affect the issue. 2) Grid is not used, only a canvas.

  I'm learning about the Framework Icons in jQuery UI. <span class="ui-icon ui-icon-circle-minus"></span> produces an icon of a minus sign inside a circle. Using the ThemeRoller Firefox Bookmarklet, I was able to change the color of the icon to red (to make it look like a delete button). Q: How can I make one jQueryUI icon be red and another one another color? <span class="ui-icon ui-icon-circle-plus"></span> I'd like to make this one green.
