  • Hosting company that does Linux VPS and MS SQL

    I'm looking for hosted solutions but there are so many companies that finding the right one using a Google search is a bit overwhelming. Ideally I would like a hosting company which has following options: -Linux VPSs - Individual VPSs should be fairly cheap since I plan on putting one or two services per VPS i.e web server on one (httpd and ColdFusion), an SVN server on another, etc. -Managed MS SQL databases - My company already has data in MS SQL databases and a lot of ColdFusion code written that has MS SQL specific commands in it. -Individually purchased dedicated IP addresses -Preferably located in the North America region My plan would be to setup one Linux VPS as a gateway/firewall/VPN server and have all of my traffic routed through so that my other servers would not use of bandwidth by talking to each other. The trick is also finding a company that does Linux VPS AND MS SQL databases. Does anybody know of any hosting companies offer what I'm looking for? Let me know if I need to add more details.

    I'm writing a user manual to a card game and there is a looot of linked images. Open Office is working so slow because every time I flip to a page with linked images it starts to update them. Is it possible to tell Open Office to NOT update the links until I tell it to do so? I would like it to display the same snapshot it showed the last time I initiated link update.     Experts ! i have a machine with vista home premium and i wanted to share a folder with my colleagues unfortunately i vista allow only 10 concurrent connections to a shared folder one of my colleagues advised me to install a Virtual machine with windows server 2003 so that i will be able to share the folder with more than 1000 user. another colleague stated that the kind of virtual server does not matter, what matters is the host OS, in this case vista. so the folder will be shared by no more than 10 users. my Question is Does Virtual Machines with Microsoft server 2003 with Host operating system Vista Home Premium suffer from Vista contraints?

  • Branch office unable to resolve DNS names

    Environment - MS Server 2003 AD Domain, XP computers at Branch office connected by VPN back to main office. T IP Traffic to the internet and internally is relatively stable, but the in-house application has been buggy, and dropping connections. Users report "slowness" DNS Name resolution might be the culprit or a symptom, I cannot ping workstations at the main office by name, but can ping their IP Address... Any ideas?

    My Word 2007 spell-check seems to work fine, except that when I paste in text from somewhere else, it won't detect any misspellings in that pasted text...no matter what I try. If it makes any difference, when I paste in text, the formatting is preserved (size color etc). Any ideas on what to try?

  • Access / Excel crossover: Should i attach spreadsheets to records

    Hi, I currently have an archaic system of client records that I am trying to improve. For each client i have a directory, in that directory i include a directory for each job. Each job has a spreadsheet that i use to store their personal details, and run calculations and costings specific to their needs. In turn I also have word documents that are linked to their spreadsheet which automatically update accordingly. The spreadsheet is also exported as a pdf as well I am trying to build a database of customer records in Access, straight forward enough. For each new customer i need to be able to add the appropriate spreadsheet to their records, update the spreadsheet accordingly with their details, use the spreadsheet to calculate their costings etc.. I do not want to enter the same information repeatedly, and would like a cohesive system, with data being passed between access and excel. Should this be easy enough to do with the two packages?   • SQL IO and SAN troubles

    We are running two servers with identical software setup but different hardware. The first one is a VM on VMWare on a normal tower server with dual core xeons, 16 GB RAM and a 7200 RPM drive. The second one is a VM on XenServer on a powerful brand new rack server, with 4 core xeons and shared storage. We are running Dynamics AX 2012 and SQL Server 2008 R2. When I insert 15 000 records into a table on the slow tower server (as a test), it does so in 13 seconds. On the fast server it takes 33 seconds. I re-ran these tests several times with the same results. I have a feeling it is some sort of IO bottleneck, so I ran SQLIO on both. However, the 64 write test is incredibly slow on the rack server. (68 mb/sec on the slow tower vs 21 mb/s on the rack). The read speed for 64k also seems slow. Is this enough to say there is some sort of bottleneck with the shared storage? I need to know if I can take this evidence and say we need to launch an investigation into this. Any help is appreciated.

  • Should I enter my Office product key before running sysprep?

    I'm planning on cloning a Windows XP install, and am a little confused about sysprep. I know that it blanks out the XP product key, but what about other software? If I install Office 2007 and enter a product key, then use sysprep and create an image, will I be able to enter a new product key in clones I create from the image? Or will they all have duplicate product keys?

    I try to avoid using Libre Office on existing Excel created workbooks because of the potential for unpleasant results. In this case Libre Office bloated the size of the workbook for some reason unknown to me. I would like to know if Libre Office does this to all Excel workbooks or just something in that workbook that causes it. Software involved: Microsoft Office Excel 2010 Libre Office 3.5.x (exact version unknown) Dropbox (merely to sync changes) Platforms involved: Office on Windows (master of the obvious on that one I suppose..) Libre Office on Mac OS 10.6 Types of data stored in this workbook: Text Integers 1 column with a simple formula spanning the entire worksheet representing that particular row (=CONCATENATE(A2285,B2285,D2285), =CONCATENATE(A2286,B2286,D2286), etc.) Total of 3,500 plus rows Here is a photo with details described within, but I'll go ahead and explain the photo as well: This screenshot is from Dropbox history of the .xlsx workbook. Version 61 - 68 were Office Excel. Version 69 - 73 were Libre Office.

In the past this would have been a Blue Screen but they’re handled differently in Windows 8, usually with a frowning emoticon. 0x0000005D means UNSUPPORTED_PROCESSOR and the solution would be to enable No-Execute Memory Protection in the BIOS. Virtual PC is ancient so the AMI BIOS has no such setting on any of the menus. Off now to find a virtualisation product I like.

I'm interested in similar GTK application which can at least return GTK UI element (widget) name and extracted text contents of that element of arbitrary running process.
