Is there an alternative widget that you would recommend from your experience that meets the following requirements? Respects the contentEditable property (does not allow selection changes if true) Respects the disabled property of individual OPTIONs (shows them "grayed out" or with strike-through font, and makes them un-selectable) Supports Option Groups (OPTGROUP elements) Supports style options such as border and margin in the SELECT and all sub-elements Supports dynamic add and delete of OPTION and OPTGROUP elements Supports the above in IE version 6 and above EDIT: As noted by @Joel Coehoorn, items 3 and 5 above are currently supported in IE. They are included here to make sure they are not overlooked in a replacement widget.

• How to do a "git export" (like "svn export")

  I've been wondering whether there is a good "git export" solution that creates a copy of a tree without the .git repository directory. There are at least three methods I know of: git clone followed by removing the .git repository directory. git checkout-index alludes to this functionality but starts with "Just read the desired tree into the index..." which I'm not entirely sure how to do. git-export is a third party script that essentially does a git clone into a temporary location followed by rsync --exclude='.git' into the final destination. None of these solutions really strike me as being satisfactory. The closest one to svn export might be option 1, because both those require the target directory to be empty first. But option 2 seems even better, assuming I can figure out what it means to read a tree into the index.

I'm doing this: function reloadtab(){ $('#tabs').tabs('load', $('#tabs').tabs('option', 'selected')); } Before you begin wondering: $('#tabs').tabs('option', 'selected'); returns 3. • Visual C# 2008 Express connection to SQL Server 2008 Express problem

  Hi guys, I have a problem with Visual C# 2008 express (SP1) connecting to SQL Server 2008 express. The "Add Connection" window (wherever initiated) doesn't list existing sql server and no option for sql server except a compact edition. Note that, I've got the VWD 2008 express (SP1) on the same machine which shows the window regularly (with SQL server listed) and SQL Server Management studio works fine with the server as well. I've seen other similar posts, did take some advices: reinstalled the VC#, services run ok, etc... but with no success with VC# so far. Again, on the same machine the VWD shows the dialog with sql server option regularly, but VC# shows only 3 options in "Change data source" dialog (1. Microsoft Access Database File (OLE DB) 2. Microsoft SQL Server Compact 3.5, 3. Microsoft SQL Server Database File) Any idea? Thanks in advice, Phil

  I have a recursive query that returns an error when I run it; in other databases (with more data) I have not the problem. In my case this query returns 2 colums (ID_PARENT and ID_CHILD) doing a recursion because my tree can have more than one level, bit I wanna have only "direct" parent. NOTE: I tried to put OPTION (MAXRECURSION 0) at the end of the query, but with no luck. The following query is only a part of the entire query, I tried to put OPTION only at the end of the "big query" having a continous running query, but no errors displayed.   BACKGROUND Am writing a WinForm app that uses the SSRS Report Viewer control to render reports in local mode - there is no SSRS server involved at all I can successully create and execute reports in local mode What I want to do is add Parameters to the report THE PROBLEM When the Report Viewer control executes a report in local mode it does not provide any UI that allows the user to enter values for parameters defined in the report This is in contrast to to when the Report Viewer control is running a server report - parameters are shown. MY QUESTION Are there pre-built components or even sample code I can use that would provide a reasonble parameter user experience for this scenario (scenario = SSRS + Report Viewer Control + Local Mode)? Yes, I could write this UI code myself - what I am looking for is existing code to avoid having to implement this UI because I'd rather spend my time making the content of the report work well NOTES Switching to another reporting engine besides SSRS is not an option. Switching to server side reports is not an option.

• Firebug not breaking on errors

  Hi. I reinstalled Firefox today, because... whatever. I reinstalled firebug, therefully, and now when I try to use it, it's all different. I believe it is the same version I had before. In fact, I even went digging through my trash and replaced the new firebug with the one I removed with the old Firefox. They ended up being the same version (1.5.3). My issue is, when I have an error in my script somewhere, it used to be that if on the script pane of firebug, the script would break on the error, and the script page would go to the offending line, highlighted, and all was right with the world. Now, it logs the error in the console, and that's it. I've spent the better part of the last hour trying to convince myself this isn't worth an ulcer; I am losing the battle, though. I've searched Google, put ads on Craigslist, even thought about becoming a cop. There were some examples on the Firebug dox, but none of them helped. A bunch of old references to a mysterious (break on all errors) option; an option which I think I might have set by accident--there is a little red circle-slash on my pause button (that's what she said), but there the script continues, all on its own. There was a guide somewhere on the firebug pages that spoke of setting the breakpoint next to the error in the console. I, however, don't have this option for some reason. The line of code is there in the console, but no breakpoint button next to it. This, however, would not be ideal even if it worked. I liked it when I could have the script page open, and if there were errors it would jump to that line. I could try to fix it, and re-load the page. If that line was fixed, GREAT, on to the next error on the page -- which would be highlighted and ready. I would like to offer a solicitation of help. Help.

  I am trying to get firewatir to run on Mac OSX Leopard.   I have a ReSTful web service which needs to parse culture-sensitive data from the request. This data could either be in an XML body or part of the query string. Is there any acepted way of determining which culture the data is being sent in (and by extension the culture in which the response should be sent)? One option is simply to specify to the clients the culture in which all requests should be sent. A friendlier option seems to be to allow the client to specify the culture. I've considered: a) using the accept-language http header to encode this information. b) using the xml:lang attribute for XML POSTs, and an extra field for query strings (e.g. ...&culture=en-GB) http://www.w3.org/International/questions/qa-accept-lang-locales warns of limitations in using the accept-language header, but most of the warnings seem to center around requests originating from browsers. In my case the requests will come from other applications. All advice greatly appreciated!

• Web Site in solution where "Rebuild Solution" compile succeeds cannot launch debugger

  I have a solution that includes a Web Site (created using the web site template not the web app project template - converting isn't an option, btw). When I rebuild all, the compile succeeds, but strangely displays 3 errors, all of which are "Could not get dependencies for project reference 'PROJNAME'". When I try to launch the debugger, I get the "There were build errors." dialogue. Two questions: If I choose the 'Yes' option in the debug error dialogue to run the last successful build, will it run on the code that my Rebuild All just compiled? How do I resolve this issue? I checked this post and am disheartened by my prospects. What is strange, though, is that I added these same projects to a separate web site solution that compiled/debugged fine, removed the test web site and re-added the target website I would like to debug, and it failed in the same manner.   I have a div, that holds a div. like this: <div id='reportHolder' class='column'> <div id='report'> </div> </div> Within the inner div, I add a bunch (7-12) of pairs of a and div elements, like this: <h4><a>Heading1</a></h4> <div> ...content here....</div> The total size of the content, is maybe 200k. Each div just contains a fragment of HTML. After I add all the content, I then create an accordion. like this: $('#report').accordion({collapsible:true, active:false}); This all works fine. The problem is, when I try to clear or remove the report div, it takes a looooooong time, and I get 3 or 4 popups asking "Do you want to stop running this script?" I have tried several ways: option 1: $('#report').accordion('destroy'); $('#report').remove(); $("#reportHolder").html("<div id='report'> </div>"); option 2: $('#report').accordion('destroy'); $('#report').html(''); $("#reportHolder").html("<div id='report'> </div>"); option 3: $('#report').accordion('destroy'); $("#reportHolder").html("<div id='report'> </div>"); No matter what, it hangs for a long while. The call to accordion('destroy') seems to not be the source of the delay. It's the erasure of the html content within the report div. EDIT - fixed typo. ps: this happens on FF3.5 as well as IE8 . Questions: What is taking so long? How can I remove content more quickly?

  I'm having difficulty getting XQuery to work. I downloaded Saxon-HE 9.2. It seems to only want to work with XSLT. When I type: java -jar saxon9he.jar I get back usage information for XSLT. Edit: My current workaround for this problem: create a new container configuration in jboss.xml and remove the security interceptor stuff from this configuration use this newly created container configuration for all my session beans that I only use locally (i.e. via local interface).

• Filtering a dropdown in Angular IE11 issue

  I have a requirement for a select html element that can be duplicated multiple times on a page. The options for these select elements all come from a master list. All of the select elements can only show all of the items in the master list that have not been selected in any of the other select elements unless they just were duplicated. So I wrote a custom filter to do this in Angular and it seems to work just fine provided you are not using IE11. In IE when you select a new item from a duplicated select element, it seems to select the option after the one you selected even though the model still has the correct one set. I realize this sounds convoluted, so I created a jFiddle example. Using IE 11 try these steps: Select Bender Click the duplicate link Select Fry Notice that the one that is selected is Leela but the model still has Fry (id:2) as the one selected Now if you do the same thing in Chrome everything works as expected. Can anyone tell me how I might get around this or what I might be doing wrong? • Silverlight 4 - elevated permission *inside* the browser

  I know Silverlight 4 can handle elevated permissions outside the browser. Is there a way to accomplish this inside the browser? I need to make a folder/file upload manager that gives a better user experience than the standard , and I'd like to implement it in Silverlight. I know Java has an option to gain elevated permissions, but you have to attach a signed certificate to your app. Does Silverlight 4 have a similar option - to gain elevated permissions by attaching a signed certificate (after warning the user, of course)? -Doug

• Visual Studio 2008 macro only works from the Macro IDE, not the Macro Explorer

  Edit: Creating a new module in the same VSMacros project fixed the problem. The following macro only works if I open the Macro IDE from Visual Studio and run the macro from there. It'd be much more useful if I could just right click the macro from the Macro Explorer from my Visual Studio instance. I must be doing something obviously wrong, but I've never worked with VS macros before. The MessageBox does not appear in either case. • Sql Server 2008 Install

  I already have Visual Studio 2008 installed. When installing developer Sql Server 2008, do I need to check the Business Intelligence Development Studio option? I'm guessing not. I assume if I already have VS 2008, the install will just add the relevant Sql Server related project types into VS 2008. EDIT: I marked the question answered before I did the install - I've installed Sql Server before and I thought this was what happened, but on doing this install, leaving the BI studio option unchecked does NOT install the SQL Server projects in Visual Studio. I had to go back and install it, so the answer is... Check it! I was overthinking the install - it's smart enough not to install VS twice.

• Scrape HTML tables from a given URL into CSV

  I seek a tool that can be run on the command line like so: tablescrape 'http://someURL.foo.com' [n] If n is not specified and there's more than one HTML table on the page, it should summarize them (header row, total number of rows) in a numbered list. If n is specified or if there's only one table, it should parse the table and spit it to stdout as CSV or TSV. Potential additional features: To be really fancy you could parse a table within a table, but for my purposes -- fetching data from wikipedia pages and the like -- that's overkill. The Perl module HTML::TableExtract can do this and may be good place to start for writing the tool I have in mind. An option to asciify any unicode. An option to apply an arbitrary regex substitution for fixing weirdnesses in the parsed table. • Small standalone SQL database similar to access in the old days(ie file database)

  Hi, I am looking for a easy to use and deploy sql type database i can ship with a desktop application. This will be a small application user's can download from my website. In the vb6 days, access was the common database for small desktop apps, what is my option these days? Looking at SQL CE it seems to have a quite a few limitations such as count(distinct) etc SQL express needs to be installed and running as a service (could i include the SQL express deployments in my deployment so the user doesn't even know its been installed? I assume size would then be an issue) SQL 2005/2008 is not an option due to size and licensing restrictions. I would like to use c#, wpf and entity framework. What would seem to be the best options based on your knowledge and experience? Thanks

• What disables "Run Project" in Expression Blend 3

  I am developing a Sketchflow (Silverlight) project in Expression Blend 3. It has been working fine up until today, now I cannot run the project. Specifically in the Project menu the "Run Project" option is now greyed out (all the other options are fine). F5 also doesn't have any effect. I've obviously messed up the code somewhere but I can't find any information on what could cause the "Run Project" option to be disabled. This would obviously help the troubleshooting. Does anybody know what controls this functionality? I can build the project no problem. And if I package the project (so it runs outside Expression) this also works fine. It is just launching it from Expression that doesn't work.

• Subclipse > Accidental Merge Conflict Resolution

  I'm trying to merge changes from one branch into another using Subclipse. On a particular file in a particular subdirectory, I had a file conflict and edited the conflicts via the context menu option for this. However, when I went to resolve the conflict I apparently chose the wrong option and was left with the original unmerged file in my branch. Since then, I can no longer get this file back into a conflicted state so I can resolve this issue properly. I've tried deleting the file and the directory that contains it, to no avail. Any ideas?
