• I think I don't understand git branches

  Salutations everyone, I have been working on a bash script as a small summer project to learn more about UNIX scripting and on using git. This has been the first time that I have used branches in git, normally I just stick to master. I was viewing the git log with the graph (git log --graph) when I noticed that my 'develop' branch seemed to have merged with 'master'. Something like this: master ----1--------3----4----5----6----HEAD develop \---2---/ but commits 3 onwards were done within the develop branch. Doing git checkout master and git checkout develop showed this to be true. What exactly is going on? Is this what is known as fast-forwarding? P.S.: Commits 1 and 2 are also a mystery to me being that commit 2 is actually an amendment of commit 1 (as far I thought, I used this advice)

  hey anyone had this task before ? suppose you have a website called www.a.com and a second www.b.com the the a.com have a button. when you logged in to a.com and click the button you will be send to b.com the question is how can i do this while keeping the credentials of the user when he is sent to b.com i want him automatically logged in to b.com ...PS: every user has an account in a.com he definitely should have an account in b.com .... any ideas please???.... thank u for you ideas and supports :)

Instead of having to do $myArray = myClass::giveMeArray(); $myValue = $myArray[$myKey]; I'd like to do something along the lines of $myValue = array_value_from_key(myClass::giveMeArray(),$myKey); When an object is returned, you can chain the object such as $myValue = myClass::giveMeObject()->aValue; Voila, nice and clean.. not being able to find what seems to be a simple and trivial function is driving me crazy... PS.. one more example of how I'd like to use such a function if(arrayKeyVal(aClass::giveMeArray(),$myKey)) { do_something(); }

• Dividing a list in specific number of sublists

  I want to divide a list in "a specific number of" sublists. That is, for example if I have a list List(34, 11, 23, 1, 9, 83, 5) and the number of sublists expected is 3 then I want List(List(34, 11), List(23, 1), List(9, 83, 5)). How do I go about doing this? I tried grouped but it doesn't seem to be doing what I want. PS: This is not a homework question. Kindly give a direct solution instead of some vague suggestions.

  What is the best way for converting phone numbers into international format (E.164) using Java? Given a 'phone number' and a country id (let's say an ISO country code), I would like to convert it into a standard E.164 international format phone number. I am sure I can do it by hand quite easily - but I would not be sure it would work correctly in all situations. Which Java framework/library/utility would you recommend to accomplish this? P.S. The 'phone number' could be anything identifiable by the general public - such as * (510) 786-0404 * 1-800-GOT-MILK * +44-(0)800-7310658 that last one is my favourite - it is how some people write their number in the UK and means that you should either use the +44 or you should use the 0. The E.164 format number should be all numeric, and use the full international country code (e.g.+44)

  I'm a bit confused on this. I have a data table structured like this: Table: Data DataID Val 1 Value 1 2 Value 2 3 Value 3 4 Value 4 Then I have another table structured like this: Table: Table1 Col1 Col2 1 2 3 4 4 3 2 1 Both columns from Table1 point to the data in the data table. How can I get this data to show in a query? For example, a query to return this: Query: Query1 Column1 Column2 Value 1 Value 2 Value 3 Value 4 Value 4 Value 3 Value 2 Value 1 I'm familiar enough with SQL to do a join with one column, but lost beyond that.   I will use some CMD commands in my program and these commands might throw some exceptions. And as you know, when an exception accours, CMD writes its own error message the screen. But, I want to write my own error message. My question is this: Is there a way to block CMD messages and write only my own error messages? P.S. This is not a complex program. It executes CMD commands using System(). Example: Let's say, the user can rename and copy any files in the program. As you know, if the user does not enter file's path properly, an error message is showed on the screen. And I want that this error message never appears on the screen. Only my own error message is showed. Thank you!

I am trying to get the following output until a certain condition is met. test_1.jpg test_2.jpg .. test_50.jpg The solution (if you could remotely call it that) that I have is fileCount = 0 while (os.path.exists(dstPath)): fileCount += 1 parts = os.path.splitext(dstPath) dstPath = "%s_%d%s" % (parts[0], fileCount, parts[1]) however...this produces the following output. test_1.jpg test_1_2.jpg test_1_2_3.jpg .....etc The Question: How do I get change the number in its current place (without appending numbers to the end)? Ps. I'm using this for a file renaming tool.

  The stereotypical programmer is very keen on writing software in one particular programming language and is very fanatic about defending their programming language in any way they can, without being realistic about whether their programming language is the best tool for the job. The other kind of programmer can take a step back and switch between languages (or is not very concerned about doing everything in just one language), is a "jack-of-all-trades", and doesn't mind learning a new language as long as it solves their problem in a good fashion. Did you ever switch from one programming language to another? If yes, why? [P.S. Please don't just answer with "I switched from language A to B because company X sucks! I think it will be very useful to understand why people switch between languages, or what's the best tool for a particular kind of job]

• Basic CSS: having unordered list extend beyond container div?

  Hi. It's been a bit since I've gotten really into CSS work, I'm trying to make a simple layout with a menubar. The idea is to have a container holding everything in the center of the screen and have a menubar (unordered inline list) that runs the full length of the screen but the list items to be contained in the container. • Svn: how to remove all deleted files from repository ?

  I have a script in which I add all new files before to commit my working copy to my repository with this line: svn status | grep ^\? | awk '{print $2}' | xargs svn add I now want to add a line that delete from repository all deleted files in my working copy. In other terms, I cannot specify them one by one, and I need to detect them with svn status and then automatically remove them. However the line doesn't work. svn status | grep ^\! | awk '{print $2}' | xargs svn --force delete As you can see I've replaced "?" with "!" and "add" with "--force delete" Could you tell me why it doesn't work ? ps. I know it is a risky procedure. I've already discussed all about it. thanks thanks

• (WinForm/.net) Databind List Of Classes To A DataGridView. But Not Show Certain Public Properties

  I'm not even sure if i'm doing this correctly. But basically I have a list of objects that are built out of a class. From there, I am binding the list to a datagrid view that is on a Windows Form (C#) From there, it shows all the public properties of the object, in the datagrid view. However there is some properties that i still need accessible from other parts of my application, but aren't really required to be visible in the DataGridView. So is there an attribute or something similar that I can write above the property to exclude it from being shown. P.S. Im binding at runtime. So i cannot edit the columns via the designer. P.P.S. Please no answers of just making public variables (Although if that is the only way, let me know :)).

  Hi. I have a table in DB which contains summaries for days. Some days may not have the values. I need to display table with results where each column is a day from user selected range. I've tried to play with timestamp (end_date - start_date / 86400 - how many days in report, then use DATEDIFF(row_date, 'user_entered_start_date') and create array from this indexes), but now I've got whole bunch of workarounds for summer time :( Any examples or ideas how to make this correct? P.S. I need to do this on PHP side, because DB is highly loaded.

• why click on the button is not working on IE?

  Hi guys, I'm just preparing the release of a library site builded in asp.net: http://213.133.103.5/gramma_prod/Site/Index.aspx All it's working great on FF and Chrome but on IE the asp button click event is not working. Please notice the most important buttons: "Adauga in cos" (Add to basket)... I'm just struggling to find out the problem... I've checked the forms to not have nested ones but they seems ok. Could you provide any other ideea? ps: I did not post any code because this problem occurs on all pages... Thanks in advance. Is using method (1) bad? What are the major differences? Is there any instances where you would want to use (1)? Is there a performance difference? P.S.   I did a lot of searching for what I thought would be a pretty common question, but I came up with nothing. If there is another thread with a similar topic, please let me know. Basically, I'm looking for a way to have an .mp3 file play in a website without relying on a flash-based player. I've searched w3 schools and every forum I can think of, but every media player I've found so far has been some sort of proprietary flash player. Doesn't HTML support some sort of native player? I've found some that rely on Windows Media Player which is close, but I want the player to work on an iPhone and something tells me WMP won't get that done... PS, as I'm thinking more about this this idea just popped into my head: a javascipt player and inside the <noscript> tag, put a flash player? I'm running a music blog (@ http://www.freshoncampus.com) so the less code per post, the better...

  Hi, I want to grab the image src on a product page in a e commerce website. I'm writing this as a bookmarklet, so I'd like the code to work universally as possible. I've noticed that there are only two reoccurring factors in the product image tag among top e-commerce websites (amazon, bestbuy ect.): border=0 and 180<width&height<400. So how could I write a selector that would give me the srcof the first img element on the page with no border and width & height between 180 and 400 px? Or is there a better way of doing this? P.S. since I'm trying to keep the bookmarklet as light as possible, I don't want to use any libraries (jquery, yui etc)

  I have to tables ProdBiscuit As tb and StockData As sd , I have to get the sum of the quantity in StockData (quantite) with the condition of if (sd.status0 AND sd.prodid = tb.id AND sd.matcuisine = 3) Here is my sql query SELECT tb.id, tb.nom, tb.proddate, tb.qty, tb.stockrecno FROM ProdBiscuit AS tb JOIN (SELECT id, prodid, matcuisine, status, SUM(quantite) AS rq FROM StockData) AS sd ON (tb.id = sd.prodid AND sd.status > 0 AND sd.matcuisine = 3) LIMIT 25 OFFSET @Myid This gives me no rows at all ? There is only 3 rows in ProdBiscuit and 11 rows in Stockdata and there is only 2 rows in StockData good with the condition. And as shown in the picture there is only two rows which give the condition. What is wrong in my query ? PS: The green lines on the image shows the condition in my query.

• How to override <base> tag without removing the tag itself?

  I'm trying to add some internal links(in the format of a content table, to be able to facilitate webpage navigation) to this site in which a tag is used. Now obviously due to the base tag, every other relative tag will be relative to the base tag href. But in order for me to create this internal content table with the links pointing to different parts of the specific page, i need to get the default URL (before base tag is in effect) so the internal links can work properly. • Installed service starting and then stopping immediatly

  Hey guys, I am trying to install a service with a setup project. So through a normal setup/msi file, the service should be installed in services. So it works, but when i press start, i get the error/fault shown in the picture below. Does anyone know what causes it and most of all how i can solve it? • Why can't i call Contains method from my array?

  Arrrg!I am running into what i feel is a dumb issue with a simple script i'm writing in powershell. I am invoking a sql command that is calling a stored proc, with the results i put it a array. The results look something like this: Status ProcessStartTime ProcessEndTime ------ ---------------- -------------- Expired May 22 2010 8:31PM May 22 2010 8:32PM What i'm trying to do is if($s.Contains("Expired")) , report failed. Simple...? :( Problem i'm running into is it looks like Contains method is not being loaded as i get an error like this: Method invocation failed because [System.Object[]] doesn't contain a method named 'Contains'. At line:1 char:12 + $s.Contains <<<< ("Expired") + CategoryInfo : InvalidOperation: (Contains:String) [], RuntimeException + FullyQualifiedErrorId : MethodNotFound So, what can i do to stop powershell from unrolling it to string?
