Has the requirement to deploy the .NET framework with a .NET application caused programmers to go back to languages such as C++ where more standalone applications can be created?
I'm mainly a Python programmer, and it is often described as being "executable pseudo-code". I have used a little bit of AppleScript, which seems to be the most English-like programming language I have ever seen, because almost operators can be words, and it lets you use "the" anywhere (for example, this stupid example I just came up with:
firstnumber = 1
secondnumber = 2
if the firstnumber is equal to the secondnumber then
set the sum to 5
end if
is a valid AppleScript program. Are there any programming languages that are even more English-like than these?
Hello All,
I m not able to change the locale of django -admin when i switch to different locale from browser.But if i mention in my settings.py the language code then it is working but browser locale doesnot have any impact on it
#setting.py
LANGUAGES = (
('ar', gettext_noop('Arabic')),
('ja', gettext_noop('japanese')),
('bg', gettext_noop('Bulgarian')),
LANGUAGE_CODE = ''#
LANGUAGE_COOKIE_NAME = 'django_language'
LOCALE_PATHS = ()
Is there any algorithm in c# to singularize - pluralize a word (in english) or does exist a .net library to do this (may be also in different languages)?
Is there a way to concatenate keywords in a macro and get
C to behave in a more dynamic fashion as in:
#define macro(fun,ction,var,iable) function(variable)
I know this kind of thing exists in other languages.
Can I get something like this http://myffi.biz/ , which selects the continents when I hover on the languages? I have searched a lot for this kind of map but have not been able to find any.
I know in C like languages logical operators are evaluated one at a time so:
false && really_expensive_function()
is doesn't result in the function being called (I can't remember the CS name for this). Does the same happen in PL/SQL or do I need to break the IF parts out to separate blocks?
So I finally stopped dragging my feet all these years and decided to learn JavaScript "properly". One of the most head-scratching elements of the languages design is it's implementation of inheritance. Having experience in Ruby, I was really happy to see closures and dynamic typing; but for the life of me can't figure out what benefits are to be had from object instances using other instances for inheritance.
Hi
I have an Eclipse CDT enviroment up and running and customised just the way I like it. I'm also going to be heavily dealing with java soon and I don't want to install a seperate version of Eclipse just to get the java features as I'll be switching between C-C++-ADA-Java quite often so I'd wont the one IDE to support all languages. At the moment I've got C/C++ and Ada working together (CDT + GNAT workbench). How can I get the Eclipse Java IDE with out installing eclipse from scratch again.
Thanks
i read this statement from a book i read
The Document Object Model or DOM is really not a part of JavaScript but a separate entity existing outside it. Although you can use JavaScript to manipulate DOM objects, other scripting languages may equally well access them too.
what is the best way to avoid conflict between javascript and other client-siede scripting language when we have to deal with XMLHTTPRequest object
I've done consulting work for years and I've got code snippets in various languages lying around that I'll re-use for various projects. The collection is getting pretty large and I want to set up a code bank for myself.
What code banks do people use? Do you find it helps, or is there some better way of organising my reusable code snippets?
(If one does exist, I'd prefer it be open-source, accessible via a web browser, language-agnostic, and maybe colour the code the way Stackoverflow does :)
I regularly listen to the podcasts DotNetRocks and Software Engineering Radio. Lately I have become more interested in Clojure. Are there any podcasts that target more toward the Clojure (more general FP/LISP/dynamic languages) audience?
I know of some single podcast episodes but I'm looking for a podcast I can regularly listen to.
I have an iPhone app which is supposed to be in Norwegian. All my nib files and content are in Norwegian. Then I came to know about language files [Localisation] but I can't see Norwegian in the list of languages in app store, now I'm bit worried about this issue can some one help me?
I'm looking for a Content Delivery Network which offers the ability to make images available through multiple urls while they exist physically only one time.
I want to generate seo friendly image urls with the relevant keywords in different languages.
Thanks for your advice!
I'm experienced with php, javascript and a lot of other scripting languages, but I don't have a lot of experience with java or android.
I'm looking for a way to send POST data to a PHP script and display the result.
Ignoring all the characteristics of each languages and focusing SOLELY on speed, which language is better performance-wise?
You'd think this would be a rather simple question to answer, but I haven't found a decent one.
I'm aware that some types of operations may be faster with python, and vice-versa, but I cannot find any detailed information on this. Can anyone shed some light on the performance differences?
According to their documentation, you should use Array hydration rather than record hydration when retrieving data for read-only purposes.
However, this means I have to access the attributes of the retrieved object using arrays and string keys:
$user['Phonenumbers'][0]['number']
instead of the OO style:
$user->PhoneNumbers[0]->number
Now I'm kinda new to PHP, but in other languages I've worked with the 2nd notation would be preferable because typos would be caught at compile time while typos in string literals would not be noticed until runtime. Does this apply to PHP/Doctrine?
Hello.
I know i am asking a silly question, the thing is I wanted to do a project where i am thinking to build a database with a front end using .net or c#. I am totally new to these languages. I thought posting here would give many experts advice. Can anyone tell me which book to prefer for it? (I would be glad if the book was a pdf online )
Thank you.
Hi, I've been getting my hands wet with emacs lisp, and one thing that trips me up sometimes is the dynamic scope. Is there much of a future for it? Most languages I know use static scoping (or have moved to static scoping, like Python), and probably because I know it better I tend to prefer it. Are there specific applications/instances or examples where dynamic scope is more useful?
Hi, how can i write a regular expression to validate name field in a multilingual web application, i want to validate the name field for non-English languages e.g. Spanish or German, and we need to make sure that no one enter digits or special characters. I'm using .NET.
I believe we can't use expression as below for non-English language.
^[a-zA-Z]{1,20}$
Any help will be highly appreciated!
In a system which requires use of multiple languages, what are the best practises to ensure a loosely-coupled architecture when code is calling another language's code?
I'm working with C# and WPF and I would like to study something related to web programming. I already know HTML and CSS, and since I'm working with WPF, I am wondering if going into Silverlight is a good choice to start web developing. Can it be a substitute of server-side programming languages, like PHP or ASP .NET?
What do you suggest?
Thank you very much
I want to learn how to make a social game in facebook. How to go about it. I think you would need a team of devs. What languages are used to make social games like farmville, happy aquarium, etc.
Are any tuts available or any book?
I am converting a PHP MySQL web application written for English language into a Multi-Language site. Do you know any vulnerabilities that affect web applications in another language? Or perhaps vulnerabilities that could be introduced in the conversion of code base to support multiple languages. (If you know any vulnerabilities of this type in another language I'll give you a +1)
Hey,
I'm a freelance web developer. I'm borred of my hometown, so I want to hit the road. Do you know any shared hacker houses in Europe? Do you have any ideas what is the best way to look for a shared flat? France, Spain, Holland, Italy... I'm interested in virtually any country :)
P.S. I speak English and Lithuanian only, so it's hard to look up shared flat in local languages...
