  I am trying to access an XML file from JSP on my Tomcat server. The error is from Catalina's protocol handler and the exception is java.io.FileNotFoundException trying to access my .keystore in the 'documents and settings' folder for my signed-on user (with admin, but not the user that installed the server). I can provide the stacktrace if that would help ... but my question is more fundamental about secure access to files and where is the keystore configured / used on a Window's install?

• Minimum permission required to access Site Columns page and edit site columns

  We've started to adopt SharePoint 2010, and are starting to manually migrate content from SharePoint 2007 sites to new sites we're rebuilding from scratch in SP2010. One of the things we previously had supported was to delegate responsibility for managing some of our site columns to a member of the team. The team member is not familiar with SharePoint internals, and doesn't want the responsibility of full permissions to the site and all its objects. We're now trying to figure out what the minimum permission is that we need to grant our team member, so they can continue to edit (& propagate) the content of the site columns we've defined. Permissions he currently has (which are obviously insufficient): Site permissions (according to _layouts/user.aspx): Read, Contribute, Manage Lists Permissions for specific objects in the site (according to _layouts/people.aspxMembershipGroupId=xxx, then choosing Settings, View Group Permissions): server/sites/[sitename]: Contribute server/sites/[sitename]/Lists/[a list with columns that inherit from site columns]: "Contribute No Delete" Note: the "Contribute No Delete" permission is a custom permission I designed by copying the SharePoint-native "Contribute" permission set and deselecting the Delete permission. The "Manage Lists" permission is a custom permission I designed that includes the following specific permissions: (List Permissions) Manage Lists, View Items; (Site Permissions) View Pages, Open. Operations that are throwing access denied errors: _layouts/mngfield.aspx: SharePoint returns the "Error: Access Denied" dialog, and provides three clickable options: "Sign in as a different user", "Request access", and "Go back to site" _layouts/fldedit.aspx?field=Level%5Fx0020%5F3 [one of the site columns we've defined]: can load the page and type in changes to the textboxes "...but when I press OK (save changes) I get the same message above." When our team member clicks the "Request access" link, the email I receive sends me to a page that recommends that I grant the user membership in the "[sitename] Users" group - of which he's already a member. So while SP2010 tries to request access, it doesn't actually direct me to either (a) a valid group that has the correct permissions or (b) the specific object to which I need to grant our team member access. Also note: on the SP2007 (MOSS) site (where our team member was successful in managing Site Column edits), they had dozens of additional permissions throughout the site that we do not wish to blindly re-allocate in SP2010 until we know they're necessary. Any help anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.

  I'm using Word 2007 via COM from PHP 5.2 Apache 2.0 on a windows machine. The goal is to programmatically render jpeg thumbnails from each page in a Word document. The code will display the correct number of pages but the for each loop only loops over 1 page. I can only directly access page 1 and 2 in the Pages-Item() collection. If I try to access another page I get the exception: "The requested member of the collection does not exist." If I set the $word-Visible property to 1 I do get all the pages in the foreach loop and I can access any page directly. Everything is working as expected if Word is set to be visible. Even stranger is the fact that if I set Word to be invisible and I don't have the foreach loop I can only access page 1 instead of page 1 and 2 if I do the for each loop. Any pointers on how I can access all the pages in the document and keeping word invisible?

  Hi All, I often find myself implementing a class maintaining some kind of own status property as an enum: I have a Status enum and ONE Status property of Status type. How should I solve this name conflict? public class Car { public enum Status { Off, Starting, Moving }; Status status = Status.Off; public Status Status // <===== Won't compile ===== { get { return status; } set { status = value; DoSomething(); } } } If the Status enum were common to different types, I'd put it outside the class and the problem would be solved. But Status applies to Car only hence it doesn't make sense to declare the enum outside the class. What naming convention do you use in this case? NB: This question was partially debated in comments of an answer of this question. Since it wasn't the main question, it didn't get much visibility. EDIT: Filip Ekberg suggests an IMO excellent workaround for the specific case of 'Status'. Yet I'd be interesting to read about solutions where the name of the enum/property is different, as in Michael Prewecki's answer. EDIT2 (May 2010): My favorite solution is to pluralize the enum type name, as suggested by Chris S. According to MS guidelines, this should be used for flag enums only. But I've come to like it more and more. I now use it for regular enums as well.

  I'm creating my first game, and I've currently set up a 'GameState' class, to store player health etc. inside. This class is currently instantiated from the AppDelegate as I need to access it from all over my game. This is fine. For each class I'm working in, I can access the app delegate, and then find the GameState object... however, it seems very messy. I'm tempted to find a way (I'm still a newbie) to define the GameState instance as being some sort of global variable so that I can access it from all over with ease... but my little bit of reading on variable scope makes me uneasy about doing this, even if I knew how. Any ideas of the best way to define and access this class? It'll be used for everything from player health, to items they've found, any personalisation etc. Thanks!

• SSH Public Key Authentication only works if active session exists before

  I have a rather strange problem with my SSH configuration. I set up my server with the help of a Remote Access Card and configured everything with a KVM viewer. So while being logged into the server via the KVM Viewer I configured SSH with only pubkey and tried to login from my local laptop. It worked fine. If I quit the KVM Session (or logout with the user in the KVM session) I cannot login via ssh anymore (pubkey denied). SSH login only works as long as the user is somewhere still logged in. Any hints what the problem might be? How can I access object variables of the method host inside the decorator? Do i have to define the decorator inside the same class to get access?

  Hi, I'm trying to control Windows Services that are installed in a remote computer. I'm using the ServiceController class. I have this: ServiceController svc = new ServiceController("MyWindowsService", "COMPUTER_NAME"); With this, I can get the status of the Windows Service like this: string status = svc.Status.ToString(); But I can't control the Windows Service (by doing svc.Start(); or svc.Stop();). I get the following exception: Cannot open Servicexxx service on computer 'COMPUTER_NAME' That's normal, I suppose there is something to do with access permissions. But how? I've looked into Google but didn't find what I was looking for. However I often read something related to impersonation, but I don't know what that means.   Hi All, I want to enable Access for assistive devices in System Preferences programmatically. But Problem is that my application is not running as root user and i do not want my application to be as root user and also should not ask for any authentication in between. I want to tap all keyboard events globally. I am using CGEventTapCreate() for the same.In the documentation of CGEventTapCreate() API it is mentioned that, Event taps receive key up and key down events if one of the following conditions is true: The current process is running as the root user. Access for assistive devices is enabled. In Mac OS X v10.4 & later, you can enable this feature using System Preferences, Universal Access panel, Keyboard view. I tried manually by checking the Enable Access for assistive devices from System Preference and it gives me expected output. So is there any way to do the same via program without asking for authentication and also application is not running as root user? Thanks, Dheeraj.

  Hi, I'm trying to implement single sign-on using facebook in my ruby sinatra app. So far, I've been following this tutorial: http://jaywiggins.com/2010/05/facebook-oauth-with-sinatra/ I am able to send a request for a user to connect to my application but I'm having trouble actually "getting" the access token. The user can connect without trouble and I receive a response with the "code" parameter, which I'm supposed to use to exchange an Access Token - but its here where I get stuck. So I submit a url with the following parameters: https://graph.facebook.com/oauth/access_token/{client_id}&{client_secret}&{code}&{redirect_uri} The words in the curly brackets above are obviously replaced by the values. I submit this using the following code: response = open(url) This doesn't seem to return anything of use in the way of an access token (it has a @base_uri which is the url I submitted above and few other parameters, though nothing useful looking). However, if I take that url I submitted and paste it into a browser, I receive back an access token. Can anyone tell me how I can get the request back from facebook and pull out the access token? • Telling between a "natural" HTTP 404 and a PHP Generated one

  So I have a file that should never be accessed by a user directly, but included in another PHP file. If the file is called directly, it generates a HTTP Status 404 Not Found to trick a possible attacker that such file doesn't exist. However, if the hacker could tell that the 404 was generated by PHP or is not "natural" then the whole point of the header would be lost. So is it possible to tell whether the 404 was generated by the server naturally (because the file really doesn't exist) or by a PHP code? PS: I know this question might seem pretty weird lol
