• HTTPS subdomain does not load site under HTTP

  I recently installed an SSL certificate on a subdomain following the steps at cPanel. Lets just say the domain is example.com and the subdomain is sub.example.com. I updated the userdata file for the subdomain and changed the IP address to the IP I wanted to use I updated the example.com zone file and changed the IP for the A Name for the subdomain to the IP I wanted to use Using domain tools I checked that sub.example.com resolved to the new IP which it does. I then installed an SSL certificate on example.com and then on sub.example.com When I visit http://sub.example.com I get the default Apache account screen, and when I visit https://sub.example.com I get the cPanel 404 page. If however I enter https://sub.example.com/admin (the location of my admin section) the page loads and I can login. I thought that this might be a propagation issue however as the subdomain resolves to the IP and I can reach the admin page I suspect it is not a propagation issue and possibly an incorrect zone file. Any thoughts?

• connections in FIN_WAIT and CLOSE_WAIT state

  I would like to elaborate the setup so You guys can understand the question and answer more accurately. I have HAProxy as load-balancer, 4 webservers (apache 2.2.3) and one database server (MySQL 5). I am monitoring these servers by nagios. I have disabled the keepalive on apache as we have only 8GB of memory. Now what happens whenever I receive alerts for high memory and cpu utilization, I have observed that the connections from apache to database server hang in established mode (keepalive with timeout value of 7200) and at other side means connections between haproxy and apache shows status as FIN_WAIT on haproxy server and CLOSE_WAIT at apache side. I also see the huge memory swapping and apache taking the most of the memory. I did strace on apache process and did not find any information. strace gets attached to apache process but did not produce any output. The processlist on Mysql server show s those processes in sleep mode. The application on webserver is Magento a php application. if you need further information please let me know. Thanks.

  I had installed Windows 7 on a separate 20gig partition, and I'm absolutely loving it! Plus I can now dual-boot, with my original WinXP residing on the C: drive. But I'm running out of disk space on D:, and I was able to shrink C: and expand D:. But now I would like to make D: not just a Boot Partition, but an Active System Partition, without losing my ability to boot into Windows 7 (since it was created on a separate D: partition, not the current Active System C: Partition). Any advice?

  I have to use setenv.sh to set system properties. I am using Linux OS and Tomcat Server 6. As described here Linux Environment- setenv.sh , I have created a setenv.sh in tomcat/bin, and the only think I added is the export JAVA_OPTS =”-Dmyprojectvar.subname=value -Danothervariable=value -Danother.variable=value” I dont know, is this enough to set the properties. I just want to add three properties to tomcat as system property using setenv.sh. What should I do to complete it successfully? What are the steps for it?I saw this question setenv.sh is not working in http://stackoverflow.com/. No is answer given there and ,even ,I don't understand the question. ie, Do we need to set CATALINA_HOME and other properties somewhere in setenv.sh?.

• Operating system not found after downloading skin pack

  My brother has downloaded a executable file from Skin Pack — I believe it was the Mountain Lion IO6 skin pack. He's using an Acer Aspire 553G. And now his operating system won't start (Windows 7). It gets to the BIOS and then goes to load up the OS but the screen goes blank and it just goes back to the BIOS over and over again. He decided to play with the bootup settings and tried different options and got the error message "Operating System not found." Does anyone have any idea how to solve this?

• System Issues and Major Malfuctions after Failed hibernation Exit

  I have a HP G71-340US that went into hibernation mode for a while and when I tried coming out of it, I got an error message: You're computer cannot come out if hibernation . Status: 0xc000009a Info: A fatal error occurred processing the restoration data. File: \hiberfil.sys Any information that was not saved before the computer went into hybernation will be lost enter=continue So I hit continue and it ran soooo super slow it. It was seriously crawling. Finally I gave up and turned it off manually (IE press and hold the button). It's been a week or two since then and EVERY SINGLE TIME I have tried to to do ANYTHING it takes forever. When I say forever, I literally mean takes 5-7 minutes to load the internet, then the page itself, then to click a link, so on so forth. Eventually everything just goes not responding and I have to give up (4-6 HOURS later). I also cannot access my thumb/jump drives once I've managed to load windows. I was going to try runing malware bytes incase of a virus, but it's windows explorer developes errors and goes not responding on me. Currently I'm running scan disk or check disk and like every file is coming back unreadable. I let it run the last 2 hours straight in chkdesk and I'm only at 6 percent with around 500+ errors and still going. Yes, I've taken logs of the errors via cell phone camera and patience. A week or two prior to this happening I had to change our the hard drive due to blunt force trama next to the mouse. OH! Running on Windows 7: ) And I've tried loading the computer in safe mode and it makes absolutely no difference. Any and all help would be appreciated. I really don't know what to do from here and I'm kind of freaking out. I've googled different part of the error and things that I've done/seen and there are so many different answers/topics that I thought it best to just post the questions.

  I have a CentOS 6.2 server. Whenever some one logs into the server using the terminal (SSH) the user profile (.bash_profile) is loaded. Now my question is, is there a profile that loads whenever you use SFTP to login into the server via "FTP browsing software" ( I use WinSCP ), I want to send an email whenever a user logs into the server via SFTP. I already have the code to do this when a user logs into the terminal (SSH) when his profile loads. Thanks

• Windows 7 system CPU bogged by windows services, no explanation

  I'm looking at a laptop for a colleague which is running terribly slow. A quick look showed that the CPU was 100% used by 2-3 SVCHost processes, which off course doesn't tell much since those are just 'cover' processes with services running underneath them. So I fired up process explorer in hopes of finding a shady rogue service which was bogging the system, but to my suprise I found genuine MS Windows processes (or at least damn-good disguised ones) are bogging down the system: dnscache (DNS Client) IKEEXT (IKE and AuthIP IPSec Keyring modules) iphlpsvc (IP Helper) Seen separately, these processes might seem odd to be using a lot of CPU, but taking a step back one can conclude that all three services are quite closely related to networking. I've tried running: netsh int ip reset log.txt which has helped me save bizarre network-related problems in the past, but this didn't help Off course I though about a virus, but both MS Security Essentials as well as malwarebytes (let both run a full scan).

  I have successfully installed Windows 8 about eight months ago, and all went well. Only the last change I made ??is to set Startmenu8, to get a more normal for the Windows look. Yesterday, my computer screen went dark blue and the mouse does not seem to work. I changed the battery and reboot. But all I get is my desktop, taskbar, and not ikony.Programmy not appear at the bottom, but do not open the maximum so I can not use them. I have a Dell desktop and run the diagnostics on the F12 at startup. All right in line with this. I want to return to the previous item, but can not get in Windows, to do it. Any suggestions gratefully received.

• Vmware peaks NFS load every 30 seconds

  We were troubleshooting a performance problem on one of our storage servers and after investigating almost everything in sight we saw that every 30 seconds, Vmware would go from 10k IOPS (NFS) to 30k, 50k, 100k or whatever the server would handle. Most of it were reads. What could cause this raise in NFS operations per second every 30 seconds? The virtual machines are managed by external customers and there isn't much in common between them. While breaking utilization down by filename, we discovered 5-10 virtual machines that contributed more to those peaks but it still doesn't explain why every 30 seconds. There are no other peaks outside that 30 sec period (ie. it stays in an almost constant average). Is there an NFS tweak in Vmware to change that 30 second period? If that's really necessary, we would like to introduce some variation so all that workload isn't dropped all at once. It's causing NFS timeout on the ESX 3.5/4.0 hosts when the storage gets overloaded.

• Firefox unable to load SSL Certificate Chain, while Chrome, IE do

  I created a certificate for our IIS 6 by sending a request (created with openssl) to our organization's CA. I already had trouble to integrate the private key into that certificate, that has been solved, see SO question IIS 6.0 now uses the certificate (with TSL v1 and SSL v3), that is the 4th in cert hierarchy. Now, if I access the intranet site, chrome accepts the certificate, so does IE, but Firefox complains about an insecure connection and wants me to add an exceptional rule. If I look into the certificate, how FF presents it to me, I cannot see any of the three issuers. How can this be? If I connect via openssl s_client -showcerts -connect... I only see my own certificate too, which is said to be not verified. I am quite confused now. Where's the mistake and how can I make FF accept certificate without forcing our users to add that exceptionrule? Maybe do I have to add all the three issuer certificates into cert store of the win2003 server that hosts IIS 6.0 ??

The process ksoftirqd/0 uses permanent 15% CPU on our debian squeeze server. 4 root 20 0 0 0 0 R 15.0 0.0 850:59.17 ksoftirqd/0 I already read that this can have various reason like Full harddisk or high network traffic. In our case we do have more or less low network traffic and enough space on hard disk. How can I analyse what causes ksoftirqd/0 to use permanently 15% CPU?

  i know it is common problem, but not its so strange. problem: common missing windows/system32/config/system what i do next: put hdd to another pc and boot from it, it is succeeded but without warning window after startup that says like "windows has recovered from serious problem". and than i put back hdd to previous pc. tadaaa!!!! missing windows/system32/config/system is happening again! now i am trying repair this problem with recovery console from CD. i hope it will successful. someone can explain this? what should i do?

• Unable to load directory when using jar [on hold]

Now, when i run the application from eclipse, i can read the files (using #1 below). but, when i export my application to jar and run it from other pc i can't read the files or even check whether the directory exist or not. • Why does IHttpAsyncHandler leak memory under load?

  I have noticed that the .NET IHttpAsyncHandler (and the IHttpHandler, to a lesser degree) leak memory when subjected to concurrent web requests. In my tests, the development web server (Cassini) jumps from 6MB memory to over 100MB, and once the test is finished, none of it is reclaimed. The problem can be reproduced easily. Create a new solution (LeakyHandler) with two projects: An ASP.NET web application (LeakyHandler.WebApp) A Console application (LeakyHandler.ConsoleApp) In LeakyHandler.WebApp: Create a class called TestHandler that implements IHttpAsyncHandler. In the request processing, do a brief Sleep and end the response. Add the HTTP handler to Web.config as test.ashx. In LeakyHandler.ConsoleApp: Generate a large number of HttpWebRequests to test.ashx and execute them asynchronously. As the number of HttpWebRequests (sampleSize) is increased, the memory leak is made more and more apparent.   Untitled Document My Oracle Support—Logging an Operating System Service Request One of the concerns we hear from our customers with Premier Support for Systems is that they have difficulty logging a Service Request (SR) for an operating system issue. Because Premier Support for Systems includes support for the hardware and the associated operating system, you log any operating system issues through a hardware Service Request. To create a hardware Service Request, you enter the information into the Hardware tab of the Create Service Request screen, but to ensure that the hardware Service Request you enter is recognized and routed appropriately for an operating system issue, you need to change the product from your specific hardware to the operating system that the hardware is running. The example below shows you how to create a Service Request for the operating system when the support level is Premier Support for Systems. The key to success is remembering that the operating system coverage is part of the hardware support. To begin, from anywhere within My Oracle Support, click on the Create SR button as you would to log any SR: Enter your Problem Summary and the Problem Description Next, click on the Hardware tab. Enter the System Serial Number (in this case “12345”) and click on Validate Serial Number: Notice that the product name for the hardware indicates “Sunfire T2000 Server” with an option for a drop down List of Values. Click on the product drop down and choose the correct operating system from the list. In this case I have chosen “OpenSolaris Operating System” Next, you will need to enter the correct operating system version: At this point, you may proceed to complete and submit the Service Request. Here we look at creating a shortcut, pinning it to the Taskbar, and adding it to Control Panel. Note: Local Group Policy Editor is not available in Home versions of Windows 7. Typing gpedit.msc into the search box in the Start menu to access Group Policy Editor can get old fast. To create a shortcut, right-click on the desktop and select New \ Shortcut. • Installation taking a very long time, hangs at "Configuring bcmwl-kernel-source"

  I am installing Ubuntu 14.04(32-bit) on my laptop (Compaq Presario V2000), and after about 7 hours, it is still in Configuring bcmwl-kernel-source (i386) mode. The messages I read are as follows: ubuntu kernel: [22814.858163] ACPI: \_SB_.PCI0.LPC0.LPC0.ACAD: ACPI_NOTIFY_BUS_CHECK event: unsupported with the numbers in the square brackets increasing. I have had Windows XP professional on this laptop, and I am erasing it. I am not sure if I should turn off the laptop, and start all over again. About 4 years ago I installed Ubuntu on this laptop, and that was very fast. The only problem I encountered was my wireless, and could not make it to work, and switched back to Windows. I appreciate any comments regarding this installation taking such a long time. After 40 hours the installation was still in configuring mode with the following messages: ubuntu CRON[29329]: (root) CMD ( cd/ && run-part .. report /etc/cron-hourly) I did the following to check for errors: pressed ctrl-alt-f2. This time the system froze. I had no other choice but to turn off the laptop, and start all over again. The exact model of the laptop is "Compaq Presario V2069CL Notebook PC" with AMD processor.

  5 years ago I wrote script SQL SERVER – 2005 – List All The Column With Specific Data Types, when I read it again, it is very much relevant and I liked it. This is one of the script which every developer would like to keep it handy. I have upgraded the script bit more. I have included few additional information which I believe I should have added from the beginning. It is difficult to visualize the final script when we are writing it first time. I use every script which I write on this blog, the matter of the fact, I write only those scripts here which I was using at that time. It is quite possible that as time passes by my needs are changing and I change my script. Here is the updated script of this subject. If there are any user data types, it will list the same as well. • Duck checker in Python: does one exist?

  Python uses duck-typing, rather than static type checking. But many of the same concerns ultimately apply: does an object have the desired methods and attributes? Do those attributes have valid, in-range values? Whether you're writing constraints in code, or writing test cases, or validating user input, or just debugging, inevitably somewhere you'll need to verify that an object is still in a proper state--that it still "looks like a duck" and "quacks like a duck." In statically typed languages you can simply declare "int x", and anytime you create or mutate x, it will always be a valid int. It seems feasible to decorate a Python object to ensure that it is valid under certain constraints, and that every time that object is mutated it is still valid under those constraints. Ideally there would be a simple declarative syntax to express "hasattr length and length is non-negative" (not in those words. Not unlike Rails validators, but less human-language and more programming-language). You could think of this as ad-hoc interface/type system, or you could think of it as an ever-present object-level unit test. Does such a library exist to declare and validate constraint/duck-checking on Python-objects? Is this an unreasonable tool to want? :) (Thanks!) • SQL SERVER – Validating Unique Columnname Across Whole Database

  I sometimes come across very strange requirements and often I do not receive a proper explanation of the same. Here is the one of those examples. Asker: “Our business requirement is when we add new column we want it unique across current database.” Pinal: “Why do you have such requirement?” Asker: “Do you know the solution?” Pinal: “Sure I can come up with the answer but it will help me to come up with an optimal answer if I know the business need.” Asker: “Thanks – what will be the answer in that case.” Pinal: “Honestly I am just curious about the reason why you need your column name to be unique across database.” (Silence) Pinal: “Alright – here is the answer – I guess you do not want to tell me reason.” Option 1: Check if Column Exists in Current Database IF EXISTS (  SELECT * FROM sys.columns WHERE Name = N'NameofColumn') BEGIN SELECT 'Column Exists' -- add other logic END ELSE BEGIN SELECT 'Column Does NOT Exists' -- add other logic END Option 2: Check if Column Exists in Current Database in Specific Table IF EXISTS (  SELECT * FROM sys.columns WHERE Name = N'NameofColumn' AND OBJECT_ID = OBJECT_ID(N'tableName')) BEGIN SELECT 'Column Exists' -- add other logic END ELSE BEGIN SELECT 'Column Does NOT Exists' -- add other logic END I guess user did not want to share the reason why he had a unique requirement of having column name unique across databases. • How should I share variables between instances/classes?

  I'm making a game using LOVE, so everything is programmed in Lua. I've been experimenting with using classes and object orientation recently. I've found out that a nice system to use is having most of the game's code in different classes, and having a table of instances with all of the instances of any class in it. This way, I can go through every instance of every class and update and draw it by calling the same function. There is a problem, though. Let's say I have an instance of a player with variables for health and recharge time of a weapon. I also have a master instance which is responsible for drawing the HUD. How can I tell the master instance what the player's health is? Bad solutions: Assuming that the player instance will always have the same position in the table - that can be easily changed. Using global variables. Global variables are evil. Have the master instance outside of the instances table, and have the player set variables inside the master instance, which it then uses for HUD drawing. This is really bad because now I have to make a duplicate of every variable the master instance needs. What is the proper, standard way of sharing variables between instances? Do I need to change the way I keep track of instances?
