  • Have main website hosted on 3rd party while keeping Google Sites for Users

    Hi, I want a third party hosting my main site with PHP, MySQL, etc... I don't know which DNS records to modify. Is it possible to have the following mappings: www.example.com = 3rd party hosting blog.example.com = other 3rd party hosting mail.example.com = Google Mail docs.example.com = Google Docs sites.example.com = Google Sites sites.example.com/internal-site = Google Sites internal site ... Right now in TotalDNS, I have www = ghs.google.com. If I modify only this record to point to the IP provided by the 3rd party hosting, is it going to work ? Do I also need to add NameServers, remove the ones Google added ? Thx for the help

  • Importing Bookmarks from a Text File (to any browser/website)

    I have dozens of text files containing around 60 url's each, accumulated over years of browsing on multiple computers. I wish to import these into any browser, to allow me to then use cross-browser importing. My ultimate goal is to then import the bookmarks to somewhere like delicious, which will automatically tag the links, allowing me to sort each page by subject. The closest I've managed to find is: Import bookmarks to firefox from txt file However while this plugin imports from a text file, it has no correlation with Firefox's bookmarks, and only allows you to export back to csv/txt files. I understand that the problem of importing from text files is that bookmarks need a Title, and so I wish to use a given pages existing title. I've been unable to find any such tool on the net.

  • Website latency and bad tcp packets

    I have multiple websites hosted on a Linode VPS and I'm having an issue with one of them: every page that I try to load has about 10 seconds latency. Apache logs are clean and the other websites on the same machine are running well. At a first glance I tought it was a memory problem since the VPS has got only 512M, but from the linode dashboard CPU and Disk I/O are normal. Anyway here we have the ram status: $ free -m total used free shared buffers cached Mem: 487 463 23 0 2 55 -/+ buffers/cache: 404 82 Swap: 255 155 100 Only 23M free, but if it was a memory problem why other websites are going as usual? I took a live capture with wireshark, and there are some duplicates SYN ACK packets just before the 10 seconds gap. I'm out of ideas, looking for some clues. I have WHM and cPanel and now I want to make front site for histing company where users can control their accounts, nameservers of registered domain, register new domains and new hosting accounts. My question is: Do I need to buy WHMCS for that or something else. I need to put client zone on front site and I want to find the best solution for that.     I m learning about server, and I'm configuring nginx mysql php wordpress. the server distro is debian 6. I created a new user and I wish each user is the owner of the site folder /var/www/site.one so I chown -R kossel:kossel site.one my problem is, my wordpress only work if I chmod 644 wp-config.php, which all can read wordpress site suggest that file should be 640. and my question is: when someone open mydomain.com, wordpress has to access wp-config.php file, but which user is it actually using to "read" that file? root? user kossel? anyone else? how can I properly give it permission or owner??

Is it even considered acceptable to have a connection initiated from the DMZ come inside of your network? An extra detail about the nature of the site that kind of throws a monkey wrench into the machinery is that people using the web site will be competing for "spots" on a first-come, first-serve basis with others using the internal software. Because of this, as close to zero lag time between the two applications as possible is ideal.

    I used to be able to access websites/files that were stored in the directory /var/www I have not used this for a while, but now I have a need to store, media in this directory or in the directory/var/www/images I noticed that my apache web server wasnt running correctly so I did a complete package removal and then reinstalled, but I am still unable to access a test page inde.html in the directory /var/www/index.html by going to http://myipaddresshere/index.html Is there some initial configuration I need to do to allow me to store HTML and media files in this directory and be able to access them from the browser? I dont remember having to do anything before.

    I want to block some sites(e.g. youtube,news sites ), because I have a problem with procrastination and I find these websites affect my productivity very much. I used to block them by adding them to HOSTS file. However, gradually every time I want to take a break, I open the hosts file and comment my block again. Is there any way I can block the websites and cannot (at least a little bit hard, e.g. I have to reboot my pc) unblock them. I have no access to the router or any firewall, besides the ones on my computer. I just want to FORCE myself to work without any chance to procrastinate.

However, in ubuntu on the same machine, websites seem to take longer to start loading. I think the dns lookup is slow. I think https sites may be slower, as Ijust can't log in to gmail. I am also using a mercurial repo with remote origin, and it takes forever (like 5 minutes) to push one small change. I think it is because it has to communicate through https multiple times. Should I change my dns server? I've seen that I don't have these problems at my work network (they have another dns server). This happens with the IPv4 settings being automatic (dhcp). When I change it to automatic (dhcp) addresses only, and add google's 8.8.8.8 in the dns servers, it still takes forever. Why is this happening?

  • SSO to multiple websites from Sharepoint website

    We have an intranet based on Sharepoint 2010. In this intranet we have several links to other webservers within the same Active Directory, for example a link to our Outlook Web Access site on our Exchange 2010 environment. We have three different setups which visit this Sharepoint environment and the other webservers: Windows 7 clients that are a member of the Active Directory Home pc's that connect through a SSL VPN appliance Standalone thin clients (Windows 7 embedded) within the corporate network The goal is to let people only sign in once. In the first group this isn't a problem because the AD Integrated Authentication works fine and the Windows logon is passed on to Sharepoint and the other webservers. The second group is also working fine because of the LDAP integration that the SSL VPN appliance uses. The third group is however experiencing issues. They need to enter their credentials everytime they click a link to another webserver. They first need to enter credentials for accessing the Sharepoint environment. When clicking the link for their webmail they have to re-enter their credentials, and so on. Can someone tell me what the best solution would be to also get SSO working fine for the third group? Some extra information: We also have a Forefront TMG server in our environment. I read somewhere that Forefront might be part of a solution for this problem, but not sure how.     I am using maven to generate a website for a Java project, which uses APT "Almost Plain Text" as a wiki like markup. Maven takes this and turns it into XHTML. I already have a custom template/skin that I am using for the site, but the index page will have a couple of extra custom design elements that are beyond the capabilities of APT. So how can you add xhtml to the apt file so that it gets correctly embedded in the final output? Thanks.

It let users submit links to their favorite books for various programming languages, and write a short blurb about why they're so good. You could include their Amazon page and the website would grab a cover picture. I've since lost that bookmark and am trying to find it again, anyone know what site I'm talking about?
