    I have a JSP page running on Tomcat 5.5. I have the following code: <c:forEach var="i" begin="1" end="10" step="1"> <c:out value="${i}" /> <br /> </c:forEach> The output I am getting is: ${i} ${i} ${i} ${i} ${i} ${i} ${i} ${i} ${i} ${i} I cant work out why the forEach loop is working but the output is not working. Any help any one could give would be great.

  • How to evaluate a custom math expression in Python

    I'm writing a custom dice rolling parser (snicker if you must) in python. Basically, I want to use standard math evaluation but add the 'd' operator: #xdy sum = 0 for each in range(x): sum += randInt(1, y) return sum So that, for example, 1d6+2d6+2d6-72+4d100 = (5)+(1+1)+(6+2)-72+(5+39+38+59) = 84 I was using regex to replace all 'd's with the sum and then using eval, but my regex fell apart when dealing with parentheses on either side. Is there a faster way to go about this than implementing my own recursive parsing? Perhaps adding an operator to eval?

    Hi I'm new to all this. I have been trying to display fetched emails in a JTable using the JavaMail add-on. However when I ask the program to set the value it never does. I have been working in NetBeans if that is any help? the fetchMail class finds all may on a server. The gui class is used to display all emails in a table as well as creating mail. You will probably think that I have tried it like a bull in a china shop, I am new to Java and trying to give myself a challenge.   • How can I SETF an element in a tree by an accessor?

    We've been using Lisp in my AI course. The assignments I've received have involved searching and generating tree-like structures. For each assignment, I've ended up writing something like: (defun initial-state () (list 0 ; score nil ; children 0 ; value 0)) ; something else and building my functions around these "states", which are really just nested lists with some loosely defined structure. To make the structure more rigid, I've tried to write accessors, such as: (defun state-score ( state ) (nth 2 state)) This works for reading the value (which should be all I need to do in a nicely functional world. However, as time crunches, and I start to madly hack, sometimes I want a mutable structure). I don't seem to be able to SETF the returned ...thing (place? value? pointer?). I get an error with something like: (setf (state-score *state*) 10) Sometimes I seem to have a little more luck writing the accessor/mutator as a macro: (defmacro state-score ( state ) `(nth 2 ,state)) However I don't know why this should be a macro, so I certainly shouldn't write it as a macro (except that sometimes it works. Programming by coincidence is bad). What is an appropriate strategy to build up such structures? More importantly, where can I learn about whats going on here (what operations affect the memory in what way)?

Here is an example row: AB AB10,AB11,AB12,AB15,AB16,AB21,AB22,AB23,AB24,AB25,AB99 ABERDEEN Aberdeenshire The columns are comma separated (Postcode area, Postcode districts, Post town, Former postal county).     Not that I would want to use this practically (for many reasons) but out of strict curiousity I would like to know if there is a way to reverse order a string using LINQ and/or LAMBDA expressions in one line of code, without utilising any framework "Reverse" methods. e.g. string value = "reverse me"; string reversedValue = (....); and reversedValue will result in "em esrever" EDIT Clearly an impractical problem/solution I know this, so don't worry it's strictly a curiosity question around the LINQ/LAMBDA construct.

  • UITouch Events and Table Views

    I'm working on a navigation-based iPhone-only app that serves two main purposes: One, to present data in a hierarchical view, allowing users to drill down and eventually edit said data, and, two, to all users to perform a default action when the table view cell is tapped. I now need to offer a small set of options tied to the same data; however, both the didSelectRowAtIndexPath: and accessoryButtonTappedForRowAtIndexPath: methods are obviously taken. So, my options seem to be to implement a double-tap method, wherein the small list of additional options would be presented after (you guessed it) a double-tap on said table row; or, preferably, a tap-and-hold method. From what I can tell, tap-and-hold seems like the way to go in SDK 4.0 - which does me no good right this red-hot minute. I decided to go with the double-tap option, but I'm having a little trouble. First and foremost, the touchesBegan:withEvent: method does not seem to be getting called at all; a breakpoint placed within the method is never called while the application runs, and the table view responds exactly as it did before I inserted the method (which is to say, it performs the default action): - (void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { UITouch *aTouch = [touches anyObject]; if (aTouch.tapCount == 2) { [NSObject cancelPreviousPerformRequestsWithTarget:self]; } } Second, I don't really need to handle a single-tap - the didSelectRowAtIndexPath: method can handle the single-tap just fine. The double-tap is the funky one I want to handle. I suspect the answer is going to contain the phrase, "You can't have the table view handle the single-tap and the touchesBegan: method handle the double-tap. The touch handling methods have to handle all of them." I would really appreciate some guidance from some of you who've dealt with this issue. Thanks in advance.

    This simple Python method I put together just checks to see if Tomcat is running on one of our servers. import urllib2 import re import sys def tomcat_check(): tomcat_status = urllib2.urlopen('http://10.1.1.20:7880') results = tomcat_status.read() pattern = re.compile('<body>Tomcat is running...</body>',re.M|re.DOTALL) q = pattern.search(results) if q == []: notify_us() else: print ("Tomcat appears to be running") sys.exit() If this line is not found : <body>Tomcat is running...</body> It calls : notify_us() Which uses SMTP to send an email message to myself and another admin that Tomcat is no longer runnning on the server... I have not used the re module in Python before...so I am assuming there is a better way to do this... I am also open to a more graceful solution with Beautiful Soup ... but haven't used that either.. Just trying to keep this as simple as possible...

    I already managed to split the CSV file using this regex: "/,(?=(?:[^\"]\"[^\"]\")(?![^\"]\"))/" But I ended up with an array of strings that contain the opening and ending double quotes. Now I need a regex that would strip those strings of the delimiter double quotes. As far as I know the CSV format can encapsulate strings in double quotes, and all the double quotes that are already a part of the string are doubled. For example: My "other" cat becomes "My ""other"" cat" What I basically need is a regex that will replace all sequences of N doublequotes with a sequence of (N/2 - rounded down) double quotes. Or is there a better way ? Thanks in advance.

Title . .-----.----------------. . 1 . Title 1 . .-----.----------------. . 2 . Title 2 . .-----.----------------. . foo . Title 3 . .-----.----------------. . bar . Title 4 . .-----.----------------. and I want a VBA code fragment that creates a bookmark named "T1_1" on the string "1" in row 2 / column 1, and bookmarks named "T1_2", "T1_foo" and "T1_bar" on the strings in the other cells of column 1. I don't mind to hardcode the prefix "T1" (and substitute for other tables each time). I don't mind to select tables before running the macro, I don't mind giving those cells a special format, and I don't mind to get a superfluous bookmark "T1_ref" from the first row - so the code doesn't need to distinguish between table title and table row.   • FQL query using stream table doesn't accept app access token

    I've searched stackoverflow all day long to find an answer without luck, so here we go. I'm trying to fetch data from the stream table like this: FQL: SELECT post_id, message, created_time FROM stream WHERE source_id = 131559313586863 URL: http:// graph.facebook.com/fql?q=SELECT+post_id%2C+message%2C+created_time+FROM+stream+WHERE+source_id+%3D+131559313586863&access_token=10669xxxxx74470|PF-7GSdBx0Nxxxxxkdi1KwSQG-w But I get a 400 Bad Request as response with the error message: "An access token is required to request this resource.". I'm fetching an application access token with this url: https:// graph.facebook.com/oauth/access_token?client_id=FACEBOOK_APP_ID&client_secret=FACEBOOK_APP_SECRET&grant_type=client_credentials Facebook state in this blog post that "You will need to pass a valid app or user access token to access this functionality.". Functionality refers to /feed and /posts (the stream table). Futhermore this wiki tells the same story about using the stream table, "From June 3 2011 a token is required to query this table. You can use any application or user token to make the query.". Does anyone see my hopefully obvious flaw? Please note: The profile in the FQL query is public. I need this to run userless though a cronjob. No user interaction is possible. The request works if I replace the app access token with my own user token from https:// developers.facebook.com/tools/explorer Sorry for breaking the URL's.     I Have the problem where i have a many to many relationship and on one of the tables there will be a self referencing many to many. So basically a school have zero or many groups and many groups can have 0 or many schools. The groups table will contain a parent child many to many with itself because a group can be a child of another group or it can have no children and that child can have a child, one child can also have many parents or a entity can have no parents.   • Issue with my regular expression?

    I'm trying to locate the number matches in a relative path for directory up references("..\"). So I have the following pattern : "(..\)" which works as expected for the path "....\a\b" where it will give me 2 successfull groups ("..\") but when I try the path "..\a\b" it will also return 2 when it should be 1. I tried this in a reg ex tool such Expresso and it seems to work as expected in there but not in in .net, any ideas?
