  • Django sys.path.append for project *and* app needed under WSGI

    Hi all, Could somebody give me a pointer on why I need to add my project root path to the python path as well as the application itself in my WSGI file? Project base is called 'djapp', the application is called 'myapp'. sys.path.append(os.path.dirname(os.path.abspath(__file__)) + '/..') sys.path.append(os.path.dirname(os.path.abspath(__file__)) + '/../djapp') os.environ['DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE'] = 'djapp.settings' If I omit the line with "/../djapp/" the log tells my that 'myapp' can not be imported, even though 'djapp.settings' is. (validating 'djapp' was imported) It al runs properly with the ./manage.py command. there's a __init__ in the project folder. For testings sake, I see the same issue using addsitedir: site.addsitedir('/home/user/web/project/') site.addsitedir('/home/user/web/project/djapp') Thanx a lot. Gerard.

Like is it possible for me to use ffmpeg decoder into my project by importing that jar file into my project?. and same case with vitamio plugin . so if it is possible than i just need to add that plugin jar into my project and link with code and user dont need to download extra plugin. waiting for reply thank you

  • How to add "make install" target to simple Eclipse C project

    I have a simple Eclipse C project. Is there a way to add a "make install" target to the generated makefile? I can't seem to find the right search keywords to find any useful information in the doc or by googling (i.e. there is too much noise and no signal.) I tried creating a simple project using the autotools plug-in but without being able to find any useful doc or tutorial that starts from scratch with a single C source file, I couldn't even get the project to build. Edit: I'll take an answer based on using the autotools plug-in if I can get my project to build. I don't see how to add an include dir (-I) a link dir (-L) or additional link libs to a new Hello World autotools C project. Is there any simple autotools plug-in tutorial that covers this?

  • Adding files to the DPR file vs project paths in Delphi 2010

    We are just migrating from D7 to D2010 and are having a debate about cleaning up the project paths. We have a number of directories with a large number of Pas files that are included on some project paths, but only a few of the files are actually used by any single project. One option is to eliminate the project paths completely and only have all used files in the dpr. The second option is to keep only the needed files in the dpr and have project paths to the directories for the rest of the files. Is there any argument for one option over the other?

  • Problems adding static library QT project

    I have problems adding a static library to my Qt project. I have two project one is my static library and the other one is a Qt GUI project. As I add all classes to my GUI project as c++ or header files everything works just fine but I want this to be in a separate library. When I select the option to add a library I check External library then I select the .a file I have build and the folder where my header files can be found because I am working on a Mac I select Mac as the target platform.   • Combining packages from different projects into a single project in eclipse

    Hi, As part of the Android application I am developing in eclipse, I need to combine two packages from different projects into a single project. I tried copying the files in the package of the second project under the src folder of the first folder and copied other files required for second package into the res folder of the first project. But the auto-generated Java files i.e R.java doesn't get updated on copying. I tried right clicking on the project and clicking on Android Tools - Fix Project Properties. But nothing changed. Any pointers on what I am doing wrong much be appreciated.

But when I tried to install it I got an error telling me that my media files couldn't be found. ** I placed the media files in "Debug" folder inside "bin" folder. ** I'm using Microsoft Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition to develop this project. Is there any way to publish this project ?

  • Cisco Unified Communication integration for Microsoft Lync crashes on Remote Desktop services 2008 R2!

  • Is SQL Azure a newbies springboard?

    Earlier today I was considering the various SQL Server platforms that are available today and I wondered aloud, wonder how long until the majority of #sqlserver newcomers use @sqlazure instead of installing locally Let me explain. My first experience of development was way back in the early 90s when I would crank open VBA in Access or Excel and start hammering out some code, usually by recording macros and looking at the code that they produced (sound familiar?). The reason was simple, Office was becoming ubiquitous so the barrier to entry was incredibly low and, save for a short hiatus at university, I’ve been developing on the Microsoft platform ever since. These days spend most of my time using SQL Server. I take a look at SQL Azure today I see a lot of similarities with those early experiences, the barrier to entry is low and getting lower. I don’t have to download some software or actually install anything other than a web browser in order to get myself a fully functioning SQL Server  database against which I can ostensibly start hammering out some code and I believe that to be incredibly empowering. Having said that there are still a few pretty high barriers, namely: I need to get out my credit card Its pretty useless without some development tools such as SQL Server Management Studio, which I do have to install. The second of those barriers will disappear pretty soon when Project Houston delivers a web-based admin and presentation tool for SQL Azure so that just leaves the matter of my having to use a credit card. If Microsoft have any sense at all then they will realise the huge potential of opening up a free, throttled version of SQL Azure for newbies to party on; they get to developers early (just like they did with me all those years ago) and it gives potential customers an opportunity to try-before-they-buy.     Here's the problem I'm facing: Quote From Project Manager: Hey Sugar, I'm assigning you the task of developing a framework that could be used for many different iOS applications. Here are the requirements: It should be able to detect the thickness of the thumb or fingers being used to manipulate the UI. With this information, all elements of the UI should be arranged & sized automatically. For a larger thumb, elements should be arranged nearer the center of the screen. For a smaller thumb, elements should be arranged nearer the corners of the screen. For a larger thumb, all fonts should be smaller. (We're assuming an adult in this case.) For a smaller thumb, all fonts should be larger. (We're assuming a younger person in this case.) Summary: This framework is required for creating user-friendly user interfaces programmatically. The framework should be developed in such a way that we can use for as many projects as needed, so it must also be very developer-friendly. I am the developer given this task, so my questions are as follows: How can I explain that these requirements are a little ridiculous? How can I explain that it would be better to concentrate on developing actual projects? How can I explain that even if this were possible, I wouldn't recommended developing such a thing? How do I say NO to this project politely, gently, and respectfully? How can I explain that even for a developer with 3 years of experience, this might not be possible?

  • Planning milestones and time

    I was hired by a marketing company a year ago initially for link building / SEO stuff, but I'm actually a Web developer and took the job just in desperation to have one (I'm still quite young and just finished 2nd year of University). From the 3rd day my boss realised that I'm not into that stuff at all and since he had an idea of a web based app we started to plan it. I estimated that it shouldn't take me longer than two months to do it, but as I was making it we soon realised that we want to add more and more stuff to make it even better. So the development on my own lasted for about 4 months, but then it became an enterprise size app and we hired another programmer to work along me. The guy was awesome at what he did, but because I was assigned to be programmer/project manager I had to set up milestones with deadlines and we missed most of them, because most of the time it was too much work, and my lack of experience kept me setting really optimistic deadlines. We still kept adding features and had changed the architecture of the application twice. My boss is a great guy and he gets that when we add features it expands the time frame in which things should be done so he wasn't angry at me nor the other guy. But I was feeling bad (I still am) that I suck at planning. I gained loads of experience from the programming side, but I still lack the management/planning skills which make me go nuts. So over the last year I have dedicated probably about 8 months of work to this app (obviously my studies affected it) and we're launching as a closed beta this month. So my question is how do I get better at planning/managing a project, how do you estimate the times? What do you take into consideration when setting goals. I'm working alone again because the other guy moved from the city. But I'm sure we'll be hiring to help me maintain it so I need to get better at it. Any hints, points or anything on the topic are appreciated.

  • Best way: restructure an existing Team Foundation Server (TFS) solution

    In my department we are developing several smaller AddOns for some unified communication server. For versioning and distributed development we use a Team Foundation Server 2012. But: there is only one large TFS solution for all of our applications and libraries: Main Solution Applications App 1 App 2 App 3 Externals Libraries Lib 1 Lib 2 Tools The "Application" path contains all main applications. Those are not depending on each other, but they depend on the Libraries and Externals projects. The "Externals" path contains some external DLLs referenced in our Applications and Libraries. The Libraries path contains commonly used libs (UI templates, Helper classes, etc.). They do not depend on each other and they are referenced in the Libraries and the Tools projects. The Tools path contains some helper programs like setup helpers, update web services, etc. Now, there's some major points why I'd like to change this structure: We can't use server builds. It's uncomfortable to manage TFS scrum management with sprints, impediments, etc. with a solution structure like that. Every developer always has access to all projects in the solution. A complete build lasts too long if one accidentally hits [F6] in Visual Studio... What would you change in this solution? How would you break those projects into smaller Solutions, how should those solutions be structured. My first approach would be, to create one TFS project for each Application, Library and Tool. But how can I ensure that e.g. App 2 always contains the newest version of Lib 1? Do I have to monitor changes on Lib 1 and update App 2 manually as soon as the Lib changes? Or can I somehow force Visual Studio to always use the newest version of an external project somehow?

  • What do I need to learn to decide on rename/recompile source package names because of company rebranding?

    My company is currently at a rebranding process and the brand names have been used in the sources' package names but these names are only visible to developers who maintain this code so nobody from project management is really interested in changing them considering also that it would imply the recompiling of several old components. What factors do I need to consider when deciding on a change like that? I don't know if I should worry about legal issues or not and if so, how to address this with project management. I have all the sources and dependencies but since the company rebranding, other development areas have adopted some of the code that needs package name-changing so I cannot take the decision only by myself so I don't make everyone else's code to crash with my core components and I cannot change other areas' code without the permission of those areas' users so yes, my concern is more political than technical. I am going try to coordinate the involved it areas to make the change anyway, since it seems to be the best approach.   Unfortunatelly in my company there's no continuous integration build server so we build our code manually on demand and to get something to production I have to justify the change (even just the package name changing) to QA with an user requirement and some other bureaucratic documentation so that's why I was hesitating the change in first place.

  • Depending on fixed version of a library and ignore its updates

    I was talking to a technical boss yesterday. Its about a project in C++ that depends on opencv and he wanted to include a specific opencv version into the svn and keep using this version ignoring any updates which I disagreed with.We had a heated discussion about that. His arguments: Everything has to be delivered into one package and we can't ask the client to install external libraries. We depend on a fixed version so that new updates of opencv won't screw our code. We can't guarantee that within a version update, ex from 3.2.buildx to 3.2.buildy. Buildy the function signatures won't change. My arguments: True everything has to be delivered to the client as one package,but that's what build scripts are for. They download the external libraries and create a bundle. Within updates of the same version 3.2.buildx to 3.2.buildy its impossible that a signature change, unless it is a really crappy framework, which isn't the case with opencv. We deprive ourselves from new updates and features of that library. If there's a bug in the version we took, and even if there's a bug fix later, we won't be able to get that fix. Its simply ineffiecient and anti design to depend on a certain version/build of an external library as it makes our project difficult in the future to adopt to new changes. So I'd like to know what you guys think. Does it really make sense to include a specific version of external library in our svn and keep using it ignoring all updates?

  • Calculation of Milestones/Task list

    My project manager assigned me a task to estimate the development time for an iPad application. Lets assume that I gave estimation of 15 working days. He thought that the number of days where too many and client needed the changes to the application urgently (as in most of cases). So, he told me: "I am going to assign two developer including you and as per my understandings and experience it won't take more than seven working days." Clarifications I was given the task of estimating development time for an individual. How could I be sure that 2 developers are going to finish it within 7 days? (I am new to team & I hardly know the others abilities) Questions Why do most of project managers / team leaders have understandings like: If one developer requires N days, Then two developers would require N/2 days, Do they think something like developer = s/w production machines? Should a team member (developer, not team lead or any higher post) estimate other developers work? I didn't deny anything in the meeting and didn't said, but what should be the appropriate answer to convince them that N/2 formula that they follow is not correct?

    (I'm quite new at Revit so apologies if my concepts are a bit inaccurate) I have heard using, in-place models in Revit projects is poor practice since it can slow down a large project. However I noticed Revit also organising inplace models lumping them with the rest of the families. So my question is: Is there really any performance penalty/benefit to be had by inserting families from an external file as opposed to creating inplace models in a Revit project?
