  • Combining a mousedown event with a keydown event

    - by gotguts
    I am trying to combine a keydown event with a mousedown event. Basically, I have a chat dialog, and if the user writes in one of 2 divs (keydown event) or makes a selection from either (or both) of 2 dropdowns (mousedown), I need these to have the same exact function. Thanks in advance. Code (to be combined): $('#usermsg').add('#otherComments').keydown(function() { // When key pressed and $('#strategies').add('#whySwitch').mousedown(function() { // When mouse is clicked //function body });

  • jQuery multiple class selection

    - by morpheous
    I am a bit confused with this: I have a page with a set of buttons (i.e. elements with class attribute 'button'. The buttons belong to one of two classes (grp1 and grp2). These are my requirements For buttons with class enabled, when the mouse hovers over them, a 'button-hover' class is added to them (i.e. the element the mouse is hovering over). Otherwise, the hover event is ignored When one of the buttons with class grp2 is clicked on (it has to be 'enabled' first), then I disable (i.e. remove the 'enabled' class for all elements with class 'enabled' (should probably selecting for elements with class 'button' AND 'enabled' - but I am having enough problems as it is, so I need to keep things simple for now). This is what my page looks like: <html> <head> <title>Demo</title> <style type="text/css" .button {border: 1px solid gray; color: gray} .enabled {border: 1px solid red; color: red} .button-hover {background-color: blue; } </style> <script type="text/javascript" src="jquery.js"></script> </head> <body> <div class="btn-cntnr"> <span class="grp1 button enabled">button 1</span> <span class="grp2 button enabled">button 2</span> <span class="grp2 button enabled">button 3</span> <span class="grp2 button enabled">button 4</span> </div> <script type="text/javascript"> /* <![CDATA[ */ $(document).ready(function(){ $(".button.enabled").hover(function(){ $(this).toggleClass('button-hover'); }, function() { $(this).toggleClass('button-hover'); }); $('.grp2.enabled').click(function(){ $(".grp2").removeClass('enabled');} }); /* ]]> */ </script> </body> </html> Currently, when a button with class 'grp2' is clicked on, the other elements with class 'grp2' have the 'enabled' class removed (works correctly). HOWEVER, I notice that even though the class no longer have a 'enabled' class, SOMEHOW, the hover behaviour is still applied to these elemets (WRONG). Once an element has been 'disabled', I no longer want it to respond to the hover() event. How may I implement this behavior, and what is wrong with the code above (i.e. why is it not working? (I am still learning jQuery)

  • Prevent an element from being the target in a document mouseover

    - by Sander
    I'm building an firebug-like inspection tool for my page. When the mouse enters an element, the element should be highlighted. Now I'm creating an element which I position absolute on top of the target element, this however means the next mousemove event (which is bound to the document) will fire with the actual "highlight element" as the target. Is there a way to prevent the "highlight element" from being the target element in the mousemove event? The element already has a transparant background.

  • Supersized image captions - render outside of JavaScript

    - by Sol
    I am using the jQuery supersized script for a full screen slideshow (not the WordPress plugin as this didn't give me enough control). However, one issue that I am trying to tackle is how to render the image caption text outside of the javascript slides[ ] call - and instead, render them within the page div - to improve SEO on the page. My code works fine right now, images and the caption text are correctly displaying, but looking at the source code, there is very little text outside of the javascript (which is bad for SEO), so I would just like to improve it, if possible. I haven't been able to find any other topic on this subject and so far, I've been unsuccessful at improving on the current code, which is as follows; <!-- Supersized 3.2.7 - By Sam Dunn / One Mighty Roar (www.onemightyroar.com) Released under MIT License / GPL License --> <script type="text/javascript"> var slides=[]; <?php $my_query = new WP_Query ( array( 'post_status' => 'publish', 'post_type' => 'featured', //'numberposts' => 5, 'orderby' => 'menu_order', 'order' => 'ASC', 'showposts' => 50 )); while( $my_query->have_posts() ) : $my_query->the_post(); $slink = get_post_meta($post->ID,'FS_link',true); ?> slides.push({image : '<?php echo get_image_path(get_post_meta($post->ID, 'FS_slideimage_src', true)); ?>', title : '<div class="slidecaptioninside"><h1><?php echo the_title(); ?></h1><p><?php echo strip_tags(get_post_meta($post->ID, 'FS_fitemcaption', true)); ?>...<a href="<?php echo $slink;?>">find out more</a></p></div>', url : '<?php echo $slink;?>'}); <?php endwhile; ?> // start supersized JS $j = jQuery.noConflict(); $j(window).load(function() { $j.supersized({ //Functionality slideshow: 1, // ..... additional functions go here... slide_captions : 1, //Slide caption (Pull from "title" in slides array) slides : slides, slide_links : 'blank', progress_bar : 1, mouse_scrub: 1 }); }); </script> <div id="slidecontainer"> <div id="slidecaption"></div> <!--Thumbnail Navigation--> <div id="prevthumb"></div> <div id="nextthumb"></div> <!--additional tray divs here--> </div><!--slidecontainer--> I have tried to get Supersized to output the content into a parent div [div id="supersized"] using $j('#supersized').supersized({ but this doesn't appear to work. Has anyone managed to do this differently to improve page SEO?

  • Workaround for stopping propagation with live()?

    - by bobsoap
    I've run into the problem that has been addressed here without a workaround: I can't use stopPropagation() on dynamically spawned elements. I've tried creating a condition to exclude a click within the dimensions of the spawned element, but that doesn't seem to work at all. Here is what I got: 1) a large background element ("canvas") that is activated to be "sensitive to clicks on it" by a button 2) the canvas, if activated, catches all clicks on it and spawns a small child form ("child") within it 3) the child is positioned relative to the mouse click position. If the mouse click was on the right half of the canvas, the child will be positioned 200 pixels to the left of that spot. (On the right if the click was in the left half) 4) every new click on the canvas removes the existing child (if any) and spawns a new child at the new position (relative to the click) The problem: Since the spawned child element is on top of the canvas, a click on it counts as a click on the canvas. Even if the child is outside of the boundaries of the canvas, clicking on it will trigger the action as described in 4) again . This shouldn't happen. =========== CODE: The button to activate the canvas: $('a#activate').click(function(event){ event.preventDefault(); canvasActive(); }); I referenced the above to show you that the canvas click-catching is happening in a function. Not sure if this is relevant... This is the function that catches clicks on the canvas: function canvasActive() { $('#canvas').click(function(e){ e.preventDefault(); //get click position relative to canvas posClick = { x : Math.round(e.pageX - $(this).offset().left), y : Math.round(e.pageY - $(this).offset().top) }; //calculate child position if(posClick.x <= $canvas.outerWidth(false)/2) { posChild = { x: posClick.x + 200, //if dot is on the left side of canvas y: posClick.y }; } else { posChild = { x: posClick.x - 600, //if dot is on the right y: posClick.y }; } $(this).append(markup); //markup is just the HTML for the child }); } I left out the unimportant stuff. The question is: How can I prevent a click inside of a spawned child from executing the function? I tried getting the child's dimensions and doing something like "if posClick is within this range, don't do anything" - but I can't seem to get it right. Perhaps someone has come across this dilemma before. Any help is appreciated.

  • How to make Multi-Pane GUI in WPF or C#?

    - by xarzu
    I have seen this user interface in some screen shots of some RSS Readers. It is a multi-pane user interface. THere are three panels or "panes" to the window, in other words, the window is divided into three parts and the user is able to mouse over the division and click on the seperation bar and resize the section. How is this sort of GUI developed in C#?

  • How to create a hover effect in a newsletter?

    - by Moak
    I'm creating a newsletter, and i want to have panels that change background-color on mouse over. Seeing as the newsletter wont have a head, I am defining all styles inline. I'm pretty sure most popular mail clients will block JS. So I was wondering if I can define a hover effect in the style attribute. Or is there any other solution to achieve this effect? Peace

  • How can I link axes of imshow plots for zooming and panning?

    - by Adam Fraser
    Suppose I have a figure canvas with 3 plots... 2 are images of the same dimensions plotted with imshow, and the other is some other kind of subplot. I'd like to be able to link the x and y axes of the imshow plots so that when I zoom in one (using the zoom tool provided by the NavigationToolbar), the other zooms to the same coordinates, and when I pan in one, the other pans as well. Subplot methods such as scatter and histogram can be passed kwargs specifying an axes for sharex and sharey, but imshow has no such configuration. I started hacking my way around this by subclassing NavigationToolbar2WxAgg (shown below)... but there are several problems here. 1) This will link the axes of all plots in a canvas since all I've done is get rid of the checks for a.in_axes() 2) This worked well for panning, but zooming caused all subplots to zoom from the same global point, rather than from the same point in each of their respective axes. Can anyone suggest a workaround? Much thanks! -Adam from matplotlib.backends.backend_wxagg import NavigationToolbar2WxAgg class MyNavToolbar(NavigationToolbar2WxAgg): def __init__(self, canvas, cpfig): NavigationToolbar2WxAgg.__init__(self, canvas) # overrided # As mentioned in the code below, the only difference here from overridden # method is that this one doesn't check a.in_axes(event) when deciding which # axes to start the pan in... def press_pan(self, event): 'the press mouse button in pan/zoom mode callback' if event.button == 1: self._button_pressed=1 elif event.button == 3: self._button_pressed=3 else: self._button_pressed=None return x, y = event.x, event.y # push the current view to define home if stack is empty if self._views.empty(): self.push_current() self._xypress=[] for i, a in enumerate(self.canvas.figure.get_axes()): # only difference from overridden method is that this one doesn't # check a.in_axes(event) if x is not None and y is not None and a.get_navigate(): a.start_pan(x, y, event.button) self._xypress.append((a, i)) self.canvas.mpl_disconnect(self._idDrag) self._idDrag=self.canvas.mpl_connect('motion_notify_event', self.drag_pan) # overrided def press_zoom(self, event): 'the press mouse button in zoom to rect mode callback' if event.button == 1: self._button_pressed=1 elif event.button == 3: self._button_pressed=3 else: self._button_pressed=None return x, y = event.x, event.y # push the current view to define home if stack is empty if self._views.empty(): self.push_current() self._xypress=[] for i, a in enumerate(self.canvas.figure.get_axes()): # only difference from overridden method is that this one doesn't # check a.in_axes(event) if x is not None and y is not None and a.get_navigate() and a.can_zoom(): self._xypress.append(( x, y, a, i, a.viewLim.frozen(), a.transData.frozen())) self.press(event)

  • sub menu border calls onmouseout event

    - by insanepaul
    I've created a simple menu and submenu with tags(not allowed to use ul elements). To access the submenu the user hovers their mouse over the menu item. I use the onmouseover and onmouseout events to either show or hide the sub menu depending on which item is selected. A pipe (|) is used to seperate each submenu item and this is what is causing me problems. When a user hovers their mouse above the pipe character the subMenu div calls the onmouseout event which is not what I want. So I added padding around the pipe character and a minus margin so that there were no gaps between the pipe character and the other elements. This worked for all browsers including IE8. But in IE7 (I haven't tested IE6 yet) the submenu div calls the onmouseout event when I touch the top bit of either the left or right border of the pipe character span element. <div id="subMenu" onmouseout="hideSubMenu()" > <div id="opinionSubMenu" onmouseover="showOpinionSubMenu()"> <a id="Blogs" href="HTMLNew.htm">BLOGS</a> <span class="SubMenuDelimiter">|</span> <a id="Comments" href="HTMLNew.htm">COMMENTS</a> <span class="SubMenuDelimiter">|</span> <a id="Views" href="HTMLNew.htm">VIEWS</a> </div> <div id="learningSubMenu" onmouseover="showLearningSubMenu()"> <a id="Articles" href="HTMLNew.htm">ARTICLES</a> <span class="SubMenuDelimiter">|</span> <a id="CoursesCases" href="HTMLNew.htm">COURSES & CASES</a> <span class="SubMenuDelimiter">|</span> <a id="PracticeImpact" href="HTMLNew.htm">PRACTICE IMPACT</a> </div> </div> This is my css class #subMenu{ padding:10px 0px; background-color:#F58F2D; font-weight:normal; text-decoration:none; font-family:Lucida Sans Unicode; font-size:14px; float:left; width:100%; display:none;} #Blogs, #Comments, #Views, #Articles { padding:10px 5px; background:none repeat scroll 0 0 transparent; color:#000000; font-weight:normal; text-decoration:none; border:solid 1px black;} #Blogs:hover, #Comments:hover, #Views:hover, #Articles:hover{ color:#ffffff; text-decoration:none;} .SubMenuDelimiter{ padding:10px 5px; margin:10px -5px;}

  • What is the difference between the Control.Enter and Control.GotFocus events?

    - by jameswelle
    This may be a basic question, but I have to admit I've never truly understood what the difference between the Control.Enter and Control.GotFocus events is. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.windows.forms.control.enter.aspx http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.windows.forms.control.gotfocus.aspx Is it a differentiation between capturing keyboard or mouse input or something else?

  • How to capture the event if a new process (application!) is started?

    - by Marcus
    I would like to have some eventhandler which raise if a new application is started. I've heard that this is possible by using a hook but the only examples I can find are based on mouse/keyboard events. What is an example link of how I can create such a hook in C#? Oh and btw: Nope, I don't want to use WMI which could be a solution as well but it's not an option in my case.

  • How do i convert from milliseconds to seconds units to be shown in a Label?

    - by Doron Muzar
    I have this code: private void Form1_MouseWheel(object sender, MouseEventArgs e) { if (leave == true) { if (e.Delta > 0) { if (timer1.Interval < 5000) { timer1.Interval += 1000; label2.Text = (timer1.Interval/1000).ToString(); } } else { if (timer1.Interval == 1000) { timer1.Interval -= 100; label2.Text = (timer1.Interval / 1000).ToString(); } } } } The original timer1 interval in the designer is set to 1000 milliseconds. In the mouse wheel event i did that it will show in the label2 the untis in seconds. And indeed when i move the mouse wheel up its slowing the timer and show it in seconds 1 2 3 4 5 The problem is with the second part i wanted that when its getting to 1 second or 1000 milliseconds if i will keep wheel it down it will show the units in 100 and change the timer1.interval in 100 units. So in label2 if it was on 1 second so now i will see 900 800 700 600 500 un till 100. And also the timer1 interval should be change to 900 milliseconds 800 700 600 untill 100. When its get to 100 just stop there dont keep getting under 100. The problem is with this part: if (timer1.Interval == 1000) { timer1.Interval -= 100; label2.Text = (timer1.Interval / 1000).ToString(); } Its not working at all. EDIT** My code now: if (leave == true) { if (e.Delta > 0) { if (timer1.Interval < 5000) { timer1.Interval += 1000; label2.Text = (timer1.Interval / 1000).ToString(); } } else { if (timer1.Interval > 1000) { timer1.Interval -= 1000; label2.Text = (timer1.Interval / 1000).ToString(); } else if (timer1.Interval <= 1000 && timer1.Interval > 100) { timer1.Interval -= 100; label2.Text = (timer1.Interval / (double)1000).ToString(); } } } But now if i was at 5 seconds(5000 milliseconds) now i move the wheel back down its counting 5 4 3 2 1 0 and stop on 0 It dosent show under 1 ...0.9 0.8 0.7 as it did before.
