  • PyGTK: dynamic label wrapping

    - by detly
It's a known bug/issue that a label in GTK will not dynamically resize when the parent changes. It's one of those really annoying small details, and I want to hack around it if possible. I followed the approach at 16 software, but as per the disclaimer you cannot then resize it smaller. So I attempted a trick mentioned in one of the comments (the set_size_request call in the signal callback), but this results in some sort of infinite loop (try it and see). Does anyone have any other ideas? (You can't block the signal just for the duration of the call, since as the print statements seem to indicate, the problem starts after the function is left.) The code is below. You can see what I mean if you run it and try to resize the window larger and then smaller. (If you want to see the original problem, comment out the line after "Connect to the size-allocate signal", run it, and resize the window bigger.) The Glade file ("example.glade"): <?xml version="1.0"?> <glade-interface> <!-- interface-requires gtk+ 2.16 --> <!-- interface-naming-policy project-wide --> <widget class="GtkWindow" id="window1"> <property name="visible">True</property> <signal name="destroy" handler="on_destroy"/> <child> <widget class="GtkLabel" id="label1"> <property name="visible">True</property> <property name="label" translatable="yes">In publishing and graphic design, lorem ipsum[p][1][2] is the name given to commonly used placeholder text (filler text) to demonstrate the graphic elements of a document or visual presentation, such as font, typography, and layout. The lorem ipsum text, which is typically a nonsensical list of semi-Latin words, is a hacked version of a Latin text by Cicero, with words/letters omitted and others inserted, but not proper Latin[1][2] (see below: History and discovery). The closest English translation would be "pain itself" (dolorem = pain, grief, misery, suffering; ipsum = itself).</property> <property name="wrap">True</property> </widget> </child> </widget> </glade-interface> The Python code: #!/usr/bin/python import pygtk import gobject import gtk.glade def wrapped_label_hack(gtklabel, allocation): print "In wrapped_label_hack" gtklabel.set_size_request(allocation.width, -1) # If you uncomment this, we get INFINITE LOOPING! # gtklabel.set_size_request(-1, -1) print "Leaving wrapped_label_hack" class ExampleGTK: def __init__(self, filename): self.tree = gtk.glade.XML(filename, "window1", "Example") self.id = "window1" self.tree.signal_autoconnect(self) # Connect to the size-allocate signal self.get_widget("label1").connect("size-allocate", wrapped_label_hack) def on_destroy(self, widget): self.close() def get_widget(self, id): return self.tree.get_widget(id) def close(self): window = self.get_widget(self.id) if window is not None: window.destroy() gtk.main_quit() if __name__ == "__main__": window = ExampleGTK("example.glade") gtk.main()

  • How can I capture GNUMake differences between two directories

    - by WilliamKF
I have a tricky issue with gmake, when I build from the parent directory, something is different and the make does not build all the .o(s) it needs and fails, but if I cd to the directory and do a make it builds them fine. How can I get GNUmake to tell me the difference between these two runs? There must be some make variables set in the parent that break the child, but I need help figuring out how to track them down.

  • Dataset to excel

    - by Ruben Monteiro
Hi. I'm developing an application that as to export a dataset to excel, this dataset have 3 tables and the relation between them, I would like to export this to a single excel sheet where for each parent table there is a '+' sign that when expanded shows the child values related to it. To export a single table to excel I know how to do it, but to create this type of relation I have no idea how to do it, do I have to create a macro on the excel file?

  • Parse and transform XML with missing elements into table structure

    - by dnlbrky
    I'm trying to parse an XML file. A simplified version of it looks like this: x <- '<grandparent><parent><child1>ABC123</child1><child2>1381956044</child2></parent><parent><child2>1397527137</child2></parent><parent><child3>4675</child3></parent><parent><child1>DEF456</child1><child3>3735</child3></parent><parent><child1/><child3>3735</child3></parent></grandparent>' library(XML) xmlRoot(xmlTreeParse(x)) ## <grandparent> ## <parent> ## <child1>ABC123</child1> ## <child2>1381956044</child2> ## </parent> ## <parent> ## <child2>1397527137</child2> ## </parent> ## <parent> ## <child3>4675</child3> ## </parent> ## <parent> ## <child1>DEF456</child1> ## <child3>3735</child3> ## </parent> ## <parent> ## <child1/> ## <child3>3735</child3> ## </parent> ## </grandparent> I'd like to transform the XML into a data.frame / data.table that looks like this: parent <- data.frame(child1=c("ABC123",NA,NA,"DEF456",NA), child2=c(1381956044, 1397527137, rep(NA, 3)), child3=c(rep(NA, 2), 4675, 3735, 3735)) parent ## child1 child2 child3 ## 1 ABC123 1381956044 NA ## 2 <NA> 1397527137 NA ## 3 <NA> NA 4675 ## 4 DEF456 NA 3735 ## 5 <NA> NA 3735 If each parent node always contained all of the possible elements ("child1", "child2", "child3", etc.), I could use xmlToList and unlist to flatten it, and then dcast to put it into a table. But the XML often has missing child elements. Here is an attempt with incorrect output: library(data.table) ## Flatten: dt <- as.data.table(unlist(xmlToList(x)), keep.rownames=T) setnames(dt, c("column", "value")) ## Add row numbers, but they're incorrect due to missing XML elements: dt[, row:=.SD[,.I], by=column][] column value row 1: parent.child1 ABC123 1 2: parent.child2 1381956044 1 3: parent.child2 1397527137 2 4: parent.child3 4675 1 5: parent.child1 DEF456 2 6: parent.child3 3735 2 7: parent.child3 3735 3 ## Reshape from long to wide, but some value are in the wrong row: dcast.data.table(dt, row~column, value.var="value", fill=NA) ## row parent.child1 parent.child2 parent.child3 ## 1: 1 ABC123 1381956044 4675 ## 2: 2 DEF456 1397527137 3735 ## 3: 3 NA NA 3735 I won't know ahead of time the names of the child elements, or the count of unique element names for children of the grandparent, so the answer should be flexible.

  • Javascript childNodes does not find all children of a div when appendchild has been used

    - by yesterdayze
Alright, I am hoping someone can help me out. I apologize up front that this one may be confusing. I have included an example to try to help ease the confusion as this is better seen then heard. I have created a webpage that contains a group or set of groups. Each group has a subgroup. In a nutshell what is happening is this page will allow me to combine multiple groups containing subgroups into a new group. The page will give the chance to rename the old subgroups before they are combined into new groups in order to avoid confusion. When a group is renamed it will check to make sure there is not already a group with that name. If there is it will copy itself out of it's own group and into that group and then delete the original. If the group does not already exist it will create that group, copy itself in and then delete the original. Subgroups can also be renamed at which point they will move into the group with the same name if it exists, or create a new one if it doesn't. The page has a main div. The main div contains 'new sub group' divs. Inside each of those is another div containing the 'old sub group' divs. I use a loop through the child nodes of the 'new sub group' div when renaming a group in order to find each child node. These are then copied into a new div within the main div. The crux of the problem is this. If I loop through a DIV and copy all of the DIVs in it into a new or existing DIV all is well. When I then try to take that DIV and copy all of it's DIVs into another or new DIV it always skips one of the moved DIVs. For simplicity I have copied the entire working code below. To recreate the issue click the spot where the image should appear next to the name ewrewrwe and rename it to something else. All is well. Now click that new group the same way and name it something else. You will see it skip one each time. I have linked the page here: http://vtbikenight.com/test.html The link is clean, it is my personal website I use for a local motorycle group I am part of. Thanks for the help everyone!!! Please let me know if I can clarify on anything. I know the code is not the best right now, it is just demo code and my intent is to get the concept working then streamline it all.

  • Silverlight: Set Items Widths in ItemsControl to Stretch

    - by Tom Allen
I've got an ItemsControl which fills from top to bottom, but I can't get it's child items to occupy the whole width of the ItemsControl: I basically need to stretch the green bits to fill the width of the control (as shown by the blue bits). I've tried things like setting the HorizontalAlignment property of the template item to Stretch and I've even tried binding it's Width property to the ItemsControl Width, but neither worked. Should be a straight forward one, but it's something I just can't quite figure out...

  • How to dispatch event from application to module in flex

    - by Viliam Husár
Is there a way how modules can listen to parent application event? My current solution that works is: private function directoryRemoteObject_saveCompany_resultHandler(e:ResultEvent):void { this.directoryModuleLoader.child.dispatchEvent(new CompanyEvent(CompanyEvent.COMPANY_SAVED, e.result as int)); } this means that I need to dispatch event for every module. Isn't there better solution? Thanks.

  • How to add dynamically a component in JSF2 during an Ajax request.

    - by Guillaume
Hello, I am currently trying to dynamically add a new component to the JSF component tree during an ajax request. In fact I add a child to the UIViewRoot component in my AjaxBehaviorListener which is fired on server side during the ajax request process. The issue is that the new component is not rendered. It seems that this component is not taken into account in the render response phase. Could you help me on this issue ? Regards, Guillaume

  • Control parent must be X

    - by Shawn Mclean
In silverlight, how do I create a usercontrol whose parent must be of a specific control? Eg. I create control Foo, Foo can only be a child of control FooParent. If in blend, they drag it to inside anything except for a FooParent control, it throws error. Foo should then be able to access properties and public methods of FooParent. Is there an official way to accomplish this?

  • Implementing INotifyPropertyChanged with PostSharp 1.5

    - by no9
Hello all. Im new to .NET and WPF so i hope i will ask the question correctly. I am using INotifyPropertyChanged implemented using PostSharp 1.5: [Serializable, DebuggerNonUserCode, AttributeUsage(AttributeTargets.Assembly | AttributeTargets.Class, AllowMultiple = false, Inherited = false), MulticastAttributeUsage(MulticastTargets.Class, AllowMultiple = false, Inheritance = MulticastInheritance.None, AllowExternalAssemblies = true)] public sealed class NotifyPropertyChangedAttribute : CompoundAspect { public int AspectPriority { get; set; } public override void ProvideAspects(object element, LaosReflectionAspectCollection collection) { Type targetType = (Type)element; collection.AddAspect(targetType, new PropertyChangedAspect { AspectPriority = AspectPriority }); foreach (var info in targetType.GetProperties(BindingFlags.Public | BindingFlags.Instance).Where(pi => pi.GetSetMethod() != null)) { collection.AddAspect(info.GetSetMethod(), new NotifyPropertyChangedAspect(info.Name) { AspectPriority = AspectPriority }); } } } [Serializable] internal sealed class PropertyChangedAspect : CompositionAspect { public override object CreateImplementationObject(InstanceBoundLaosEventArgs eventArgs) { return new PropertyChangedImpl(eventArgs.Instance); } public override Type GetPublicInterface(Type containerType) { return typeof(INotifyPropertyChanged); } public override CompositionAspectOptions GetOptions() { return CompositionAspectOptions.GenerateImplementationAccessor; } } [Serializable] internal sealed class NotifyPropertyChangedAspect : OnMethodBoundaryAspect { private readonly string _propertyName; public NotifyPropertyChangedAspect(string propertyName) { if (string.IsNullOrEmpty(propertyName)) throw new ArgumentNullException("propertyName"); _propertyName = propertyName; } public override void OnEntry(MethodExecutionEventArgs eventArgs) { var targetType = eventArgs.Instance.GetType(); var setSetMethod = targetType.GetProperty(_propertyName); if (setSetMethod == null) throw new AccessViolationException(); var oldValue = setSetMethod.GetValue(eventArgs.Instance, null); var newValue = eventArgs.GetReadOnlyArgumentArray()[0]; if (oldValue == newValue) eventArgs.FlowBehavior = FlowBehavior.Return; } public override void OnSuccess(MethodExecutionEventArgs eventArgs) { var instance = eventArgs.Instance as IComposed<INotifyPropertyChanged>; var imp = instance.GetImplementation(eventArgs.InstanceCredentials) as PropertyChangedImpl; imp.OnPropertyChanged(_propertyName); } } [Serializable] internal sealed class PropertyChangedImpl : INotifyPropertyChanged { private readonly object _instance; public PropertyChangedImpl(object instance) { if (instance == null) throw new ArgumentNullException("instance"); _instance = instance; } public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged; internal void OnPropertyChanged(string propertyName) { if (string.IsNullOrEmpty(propertyName)) throw new ArgumentNullException("propertyName"); var handler = PropertyChanged as PropertyChangedEventHandler; if (handler != null) handler(_instance, new PropertyChangedEventArgs(propertyName)); } } } Then i have a couple of classes (user and adress) that implement [NotifyPropertyChanged]. It works fine. But what i want would be that if the child object changes (in my example address) that the parent object gets notified (in my case user). Would it be possible to expand this code so it automaticly creates listeners on parent objects that listen for changes in its child objets?

  • Can't Prevent Nested Div's from Overflowing when using Percent Sizes and Padding in CSS?

    - by viatropos
I want to be able to layout nested divs with these properties: width: 100% height: 100% padding: 10px I want it to be such that, the children are 100% width and height of the remaining space after padding is calculated, not before. Otherwise, when I have a document like the below example, the child makes the scrollbars appear. But the scrollbars are not the main issue, the fact that the child stretches beyond the width of the parent container is. I can use all position: absolute declarations, but that doesn't seem right. Here is the code: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd"> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=7"> <title>Liquid Layout</title> <style> body, html { width:100%; height:100%; margin:0; padding:0; background-color:black; } #container { position:relative; width:100%; height:100%; background-color:red; opacity:0.7; } #child1 { position:relative; width:100%; height:100%; padding:10px; background-color:blue; } #nested1 { position:relative; background-color: white; width:100%; height:100%; } </style> </head> <body> <div id="container"> <div id="child1"> <div id="nested1"></div> </div> </div> </body> </html> How do I make it so, using position:relative or position:static, and percent sizes, the percents size the children according to the parent's width/height minus padding and margins? Do I have to resort to position:absolute and left/right/top/bottom? Thanks for the help, Lance

  • Why doesn't nHibernate support LIMIT when doing "join fetch"?

    - by HeavyWave
In nHibernate, if you do an HQL query with "join fetch" to eagerly load a child collection, nHibernate will ignore SetMaxResults and SetFirstResult and try to retrieve every single item from the database. Why? This behavior is specific to HQL, as ICriteria supports eager loading (with an outer join, though) and LIMIT. There are more details here http://www.lesnikowski.com/blog/index.php/nhibernate-ignores-setmaxresults-in-sql/ .
