  • Cannot find "IIS APPPOOL\{application pool name}" user account in Windows Server 2008

    - by MacGyver
Normally when setting up IIS 7, I'm used to allowing permissions to user IIS APPPOOL\{application pool name} on the root folder of my web application(s). I also give permissions to IUSR (or the IIS_IUSRS user group. (Note, in Windows Server 2008, I found that IUSR isn't in that group by default, so I added it). In Windows Server 2008, I cannot find user IIS APPPOOL\{application pool name} under Security under the Windows Folder Properties. I'm using Windows Authentication in ASP.NET. I'm receiving a 401.1 on the page in Internet Explorer 8 after getting the authentication prompt. Mozilla Firefox also gave me a Windows authentication prompt, and got me into the site fine. Same with Google Chrome. How can I solve this one? HTTP Error 401.1 - Unauthorized You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied. • Can an app in opt/extras install themeable icons in /usr/share

    - by Peter Levi
My application Variety Wallpaper Changer runs from /opt/extras and uses an indicator icon. I would like to make this indicator icon theme-specific. As far as I understand the standard way is to install named icons into /usr/share/icons with xdg-icon-resource at installation time (Am I right about this?). I have two questions regarding this: Variety installs and runs from /opt/extras.ubuntu.com. Is it acceptable for it to install icons in /usr/share using xdg-icon-resource or is there something else I can do to have theme-specific icons without special-casing themes and dynamically selecting the icon in the code? Variety is packaged using Quickly (and I'm myself a newbie at packaging) - how can I configure it to install theme-specific named icons at installation time?

  • ClickOnce manifest problem

    - by TWith2Sugars
We are currently deploying a WPF 4 app via click once and there is a scenario when the installation fails. If the user does not have .Net 4.0 Full install and attempts to install our app the framework installs fine but the app fails to install. If we re-run the installation again the app installs fine. • What are the tools used by modern desktop/"native" application developers? [closed]

    - by kunjaa
Besides the usual editor and debugger, what do the modern desktop (windows and linux) application developers use for their development. I am more interested in profilers, code analyzers, memory analyzers, packaging tools, GUI frameworks, libraries and any other handy tools and secrets that you couldnt live without. For example, as a web application developer, I have my Firebug and its extensions, Wireshark, jQuery and its extensions, client side and server side mvc frameworks, selenium tests, jsfiddle etc. Edit : Ok let us constrain this by saying you are using C++

  • Where should I store my application data?

    - by joebeazelman
I have an application that needs to store data. Currently, I am using the built-in Application Settings to do it, but it only gives me two choices: application and user scopes. Ideally, I want a "local" scope that allows the application to run under another user and still find its data rather than recreate it for that user. The application scope can do this, but it's read only. The application data will be changed by the user. It's OK if only the administrator is allowed to make changes to the data. As you probably can guess, I have an administration tool that allows the user to change the data and windows service runner that reads the data and does something with it. It would be great if the windows service runner access the data created by the administration tool.

  • Blackberry - Running Background Application

    - by Leandro
Good afternoon. I'm starting programming in java and blackberry. I am developing an application with three windows, which I will show basic information about the device, these windows are already done and working. I need to create a process running in the background, this process will run every 10 minutes. As I make this process run in the background and is working to close the windows? This is the kind that runs the application: public class InfoBerry extends UiApplication{ public vtnprincipal vtnprincipal; public vtnbateria vtnbateria; public vtnestado vtnestado ; public vtnacerca vtnacerca; public InfoBerry(){ } public static void main(String[] args) { InfoBerry theApp = new InfoBerry(); theApp.mostrarpantalla(); } public void mostrarpantalla(){ vtnprincipal = new vtnprincipal(this); vtnbateria = new vtnbateria(this); vtnestado = new vtnestado(this); vtnacerca = new vtnacerca(this); // Inicailizamos los componentes de la pantalla principal vtnprincipal.incventana(); // La pnemos en lo alto de la pila de pantallas pushScreen(this.vtnprincipal); } } And this is the class you need to run in the background. As I have to make the call to this class to run in the background? class iconnoti extends MainScreen{ //icono de la temperatura EncodedImage imgtem = EncodedImage.getEncodedImageResource("icon_bateria_t.png"); ApplicationIcon icontem = new ApplicationIcon(imgtem); //icono de la carga de la bateria EncodedImage imgcarga = EncodedImage.getEncodedImageResource("icon_bateria.png"); ApplicationIcon iconcarga = new ApplicationIcon(imgcarga); //icono de la memoria EncodedImage imgmemo = EncodedImage.getEncodedImageResource("icon_memoria.png"); ApplicationIcon iconmemo = new ApplicationIcon(imgmemo); ApplicationIcon mIcon = icontem; boolean act; public iconnoti() { } public void rotar_temperatura(){ cron c1; actualizar_icono(icontem); actualizar_valor(DeviceInfo.getBatteryTemperature()); c1 = new cron(2,10000); c1.start(); } public void rotar_memoria(){ cron c1; actualizar_icono(iconmemo); actualizar_valor(34); c1 = new cron(3,10000); c1.start(); } public void rotar_nivel(){ cron c1; actualizar_icono(iconcarga); actualizar_valor(DeviceInfo.getBatteryLevel()); c1 = new cron(1,10000); c1.start(); } public void iniciar_servicio() { try { ApplicationIndicatorRegistry reg = ApplicationIndicatorRegistry.getInstance(); ApplicationIndicator Indicator = reg.register(mIcon, false, true); } catch (Exception e) { } } public void parar_servicio() { try { ApplicationIndicatorRegistry reg = ApplicationIndicatorRegistry.getInstance(); reg.unregister(); } catch (Exception e) { } } void actualizar_valor(int value) { try { ApplicationIndicatorRegistry reg = ApplicationIndicatorRegistry.getInstance(); ApplicationIndicator appIndicator = reg.getApplicationIndicator(); appIndicator.setValue(value); } catch (Exception e) { } } void actualizar_icono(ApplicationIcon icon) { try { ApplicationIndicatorRegistry reg = ApplicationIndicatorRegistry.getInstance(); ApplicationIndicator appIndicator = reg.getApplicationIndicator(); appIndicator.setIcon(icon); } catch (Exception e) { } } } class cron extends Thread { //private ApplicationIcon icono; public int valor; private int tiempo; iconnoti icon = new iconnoti(); public cron(int v, int t){ valor = v; tiempo = t; } public void run() { try { sleep(tiempo); } catch (InterruptedException e) { } if(valor == 1){ icon.rotar_temperatura(); }else if(valor == 2){ icon.rotar_memoria(); }else if(valor == 3){ icon.rotar_nivel(); } } } Thanks for the help.

  • Stand - alone application with JBoss or Tomcat

    - by sufoid
Hallo, I have a more specific question about deploying a Java-application. I have created a Java application, it is a WAR file and can be installed on any Java application server. This works perfect. Now for users who do not have Java experience I want to package somehow my application together with the application server and distribute it as a stand-alone version. Question 1: Is this possible? Question 2: Which application server would be best for this? Question 3: Where should I start to learn how to do this? Do you have any experience you can share with me. Thanks.

  • Android Template Application?

    - by stormin986
I have built an application that I want to use as the foundation for a few other variants. The variants will come from assets / resource files and a unique AndroidManifest.xml. However, I want to be able to leave all the application code alone (modifying the package of all my classes, etc). I'm having a hard time figuring out how to do so. My first thought was to simply have my main application in its own package, and then specify the specific application package in the manifest. However, this gives me issues with the generated R.java class, since it is generated to be in the main application's package. Anyone have any thoughts on how to accomplish this? To have a code baseline, and the application variants happen in resources/assets and the manifest?

  • IIS, multiple CPU cores, application pools and worker processes - best configuration for a single si

    - by Egghead Design
Hi We use Kentico CMS and I've exchanged emails with them about a web garden deployment. We have a single site running on a server with 8 cpu cores. In line with Kentico's advice, we have not altered the application pool web garden setting from the default i.e. it is set to a maximum number of worker processes of 1. Our experience is that the site only uses one of the cpu cores - the others are idling. When I emailed them about this, their response was that the OS/IIS would handle this and use other cores as necessary even though the application pool only has a single worker process. Now, I've a lot of respect for the guys at Kentico, but this doesn't seem right to me? Surely, if we want to use all cores, we need to permit eight worker processes (and implement session state storage in SQL server)? Many thanks Tony

  • JavaMail application won't send email to external SMTP server

    - by Luiz Cruz
This is actually a question from an exam, but I believe it could help others troubleshooting a similar situation. In a system, an e-mail needs to be sent to a certain mailbox. The following Java code, which is part of a larger system, was developed for that. Assume that "example.com" corresponds to a valid registered internet domain. public void sendEmail(){ String s1=”Warning”; String b1=”Contact IT support.”; String r1=”[email protected]”; String d1=”[email protected]”; String h1=”mx.intranet”; Properties p1 = new Properties(); p1.put(“mail.host”, h1); Session session = Session.getDefaultInstance(p1, null); MimeMessage message = new MimeMessage(session); try { message.setFrom(new InternetAddress(r1)); message.addRecipient(Message.RecipientType.TO, new InternetAddress(d1)); message.setSubject(s1); message.setText(b1); Transport.send(message); } catch (MessagingException e){ System.err.println(e); } } The execution of this code, within the testing environment of an application server, does NOT work as expected. The mailbox of the "example.com" server never receives the email, even tough all string values in the code are correctly attributed. The output for the command "netstat -np TCP" in the application server during execution is shown bellow: Src Add Src Port Dest Add Dest Port State 192.168.5.5 54395 192.168.7.1 25 SYN_SENT 192.168.5.5 54390 192.168.7.1 110 TIME_WAIT 192.168.5.5 52001 200.218.208.118 80 CLOSE_WAIT 192.168.5.5 52050 200.218.208.118 80 ESTABLISHED 192.168.5.5 50001 200.255.94.202 25 TIME_WAIT 192.168.5.5 50000 200.255.94.202 25 ESTABLISHED With the exception of the lines that were NAT'd, all others are associated with the Java application server, which created them after the execution of the code above. The e-mail server used in this environment is the production server, which is online and does not require any authentication for internal connections. Based on this situation, point out three possible causes for the problem.

  • Disable .net completely in a IIS6 Application Pool

    - by David L.-Pratte
we're managing some web sites for our clients on our servers, some running Windows Server 2003 R2 and others running 2008 R2. In Windows Server 2008 R2, we can disable completely .NET framework usage for some application pools, which is great since most of our websites are still using classic ASP. After some issues with classic ASP applications being configured to run as ASP.NET 4 in a CLR 2.0 pool, we wanted to do the same thing in IIS6 - that is, have application pools without any .NET support. Is this a supported scenario in IIS6? Thanks

  • How to exit vncconfig process properly

    - by Stan
On CentOS 5.7, when open up a vncconfig, a tray icon shows on the taskbar. Hit close or the x button to close the vncconfig doesn't exit the vncconfig, the tray icon is still there. Next time, if I open up another vncconfig rather than clicking the one on taskbar. There will be another vncconfig tray icon added to the taskbar. Except using kill $pid to remove the tray icon, is there any other way to exit the vncconfig process properly? See screenshot below:

  • Loading specific icon size into TIcon from stream (Delphi XE)

    - by moodforaday
My application downloads and displays favicons for specific websites. I followed Bing's solution for detecting image format from stream, but have hit another snag. Assuming an actual icon image, the code goes like this: var icon : TIcon; begin icon := TIcon.Create; try icon.LoadFromStream( faviconStream ); spFavicon.Glyph.Assign( icon ); finally icon.Free; end; end; (spFavicon is TRzGlyphStatus from Raize Components. Its Glyph property is a TBitmap) Now, this works, but sometimes the downloaded icon contains multiple images in different sizes, e.g. 32x32 in addition to the expected 16x16. For some reason the control's Glyph property picks the larger size. How can I load only the 16x16 size into TIcon, or from TIcon into TBitmap? Test favicon: http://www.kpfa.org/favicon.ico On edit: If at all possible, I'd rather avoid saving the icon to a file first.

  • How do I create a Status Icon / System Tray Icon with custom text and transparent background using P

    - by Raugturi
Here is the code that I have so far to define the icon: icon_bg = gtk.gdk.pixbuf_new_from_file('gmail.png') w, h = icon_bg.get_width(), icon_bg.get_height() cmap = gtk.gdk.Colormap(gtk.gdk.visual_get_system(), False) drawable = gtk.gdk.Pixmap(None, w, h, 24) drawable.set_colormap = cmap gc = drawable.new_gc() drawable.draw_pixbuf(gc, icon_bg, 0, 0, 0, 0, w, h) drawn_icon = gtk.gdk.Pixbuf(gtk.gdk.COLORSPACE_RGB, False, 8, w, h) drawn_icon.get_from_drawable(drawable, cmap, 0, 0, 0, 0, w, h) icon = gtk.status_icon_new_from_pixbuf(drawn_icon) This works to get the png into the icon, but falls short in two areas. First, transparency is not working. If I use a 22x22 png with transparent background and the image centered, I end up with sections of other active icons showing up inside of mine, like this: http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff311/Raugturi/22x22_image_with_transparency.png The icon it choose to steal from is somewhat random. Sometimes it's part of the dropbox icon, others the NetworkManager Applet. If I instead use this code: icon_bg = gtk.gdk.pixbuf_new_from_file('gmail.png') w, h = icon_bg.get_width(), icon_bg.get_height() cmap = gtk.gdk.Colormap(gtk.gdk.visual_get_system(), False) drawable = gtk.gdk.Pixmap(None, w, h, 24) drawable.set_colormap = cmap gc = drawable.new_gc() drawable.draw_pixbuf(gc, icon_bg, 0, 0, 0, 0, w, h) drawn_icon = gtk.gdk.Pixbuf(gtk.gdk.COLORSPACE_RGB, False, 8, 22, 22) drawn_icon.get_from_drawable(drawable, cmap, 0, 0, 3, 6, w, h) icon = gtk.status_icon_new_from_pixbuf(drawn_icon) And an image that is only 16x11 with the transparent edges removed, what I end up with is this: Same URL but file is 16x11_image_positioned_in_middle.png So how do I end up with a transparent block like the 1st one that doesn't pull in stuff from other icons? As for the second problem, I need the ability to write on the image before converting it to the icon. I tried using draw_glyphs and it told me I should be using Pango layout/context instead. Unfortunately all the Pango tutorials I could find deal with actual windows, not the status icon. Is there a good tutorial out there for Pango that would apply to this issue (and also maybe have at least some explanation of how to tell it what font to use as all of them that I found seem to lack this and it won't write anything without it). Note: Sorry for the lack of actual images and only one working link, apparently this is a spam prevention feature due to my lack of reputation.

  • Wireless icon shows grey box

    - by donald
Hello I am running kubuntu 13.10. I had to install using the server disk and did a upgrade to the desktop version to enable full disk encryption using multiple drives. For some weird reason when I move my mouse over to the wireless icon which has an red circle and a line through it, up pops a grey box with nothing in it. This stops me from chosing which ssid's I can connect to. Ubuntu has the drive for my wirless card and it is working verified using #lspci | grep Network Centrino Wireless-N 2230 I am connected to my network from the install wizard but I need to be able to choose which networks. Please help.
