  • Tomcat6 Manager Webapp is 404 on apt-get install on Ubuntu 10.10

    http://localhost:8080/manager/html gives a 404 error on apt-get install of tomcat6 (6.0.28 on JVM 1.6.0_20-b20 on 2.6.35-27-generic amd64). http://localhost:8080/host-manager/html works. Lists one Host name, localhost. cat /usr/share/tomcat6/conf/tomcat-users.xml <tomcat-users> <role rolename="admin"/> <role rolename="manager" /> <user username="tomcatuser" password="Password1" roles="admin,manager"/> </tomcat-users> cat /usr/share/tomcat6/conf/Catalina/localhost/manager.xml <Context path="/manager" docBase="/usr/share/tomcat6-admin/manager" antiResourceLocking="false" privileged="true" /> <role name="manager" /> <user name="manager" password="Password1" roles="manager" /> <user name="tomcatuser" password="Password1" roles="manager" /> Those two files are the only documentation I've seen on how to setup the Manager webapp, and they seem to be compliant with the requirements.

  • SOLVED:Bootloader isn't executable booting XEN PV Guest with virtual-manager

    I am going insane with an error I am encountering while trying to install a PV Guest of Debian Wheezy on a Ubuntu Server precise Xen default build with libvirt. The steps I take with virt-manager are the following: 1.Net install via: http://ftp.es.debian.org/debian/dists/stable/main/installer-amd64/ 2.Install process is flawless, installed via VNC over virt-manager 3.When the VM starts I get the following error: Error starting domain: POST operation failed: xend_post: error from xen daemon: (xend.err "Bootloader isn't executable") Most answers i have found on google say that I need to edit the VM's .cfg file and correct the path to pygrub but virt-manager does not seem to create this file (I have searched the entire drive with "find". Another detail is that virsh list --all shows no VMs (Not even dom0) while the command xm list shows all of them. Any help is much appreciated. EDIT: Connected remotely via virsh: virsh -c xen+ssh://user@ip dumpxml vmname Found line: /usr/bin/pygrub ln -s /usr/lib/xen-4.1/bin/pygrub /usr/bin/pygrub Now it works. If anyone can think of a better solution give me a shout. Cheers

  • MMC and Server Manager Authentication Errors - Access Denied

    I'm trying to connect remotely from my Windows 8 client to manage my Hyper-V Server 2012. I have done everything I can find to configure remote management of the server including: Added a net user on server Enabled anonymous dcom access on server and client Added firewall rules for "Windows Firewall Remote Management" and "Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI)" on server Added firewall exception on server for client IP Added cmdkey on client Added server to TrustedHost list on client Added LocalAccountTokenFilter policy registry entry on server Added client IP to server's host file Added server IP to client's host file I cannot believe I am still getting these errors. What's even more strange is that I can connect in Hyper-V Manager and create VM's but not in MMC and Server Manager. I also get Access Denied trying to Open the Authorization Store on my server from my client using Authorization Manager. I'm providing all the errors because I have a feeling they root from the same problem. Does anybody see anything I missed?

  • Windows 7 randomly installs an "Unknown Device" successfully

    Rarely (several days to weeks between occurrences,) and seemingly at random, I get a balloon notification from Windows 7 (x64 SP1 Home Premium) that it is installing hardware for me. Whatever is being installed does so without error. However, no new hardware has been installed or plugged in! When I click the balloon it doesn't give me any useful information: Looking in the event log, I find this entry: Event ID: 20001 Source: UserPnp Task Category: 7005 Message: Driver Management concluded the process to install driver FileRepository\usb.inf_amd64_neutral_153b489118ee37b8\usb.inf for Device Instance ID USB\VID_0000&PID_0000\6&3AF9A177&0&0060&&02 with the following status: 0x0. It appears to be USB related. My motherboard has both USB 2.0 and 3.0 controllers. My keyboard and mouse are plugged into the 2.0 slots and the data/recharge cable for a tablet (but not the tablet itself) was plugged in to the 3.0 slot. No other USB devices have been attached for several days/reboots. Why is Windows doing this?

  • virt-viewer slower than virt-manager when viewing

    I've got a thin client server in which I have a few VM's for users under KVM which I manage through virt-manager. What I've noticed is if I start a VM guest on a thin client using the command 'virt-viewer ' then the guest is painfully slow to move around. However if on the same thin client I start the same guest VM through virt-manager it's fast. What are the differences here? Can I start a VM without having the user load up virt-manager and double click on their VM? Should I be looking at using splice in virt-viewer instead of VNC which is what I currently use?

    I just written a linux character driver. I created one character device file named X. I can see that file in /dev folder. Now I want to do some read/write operation into this file. I opened the filed in VI editor and write some text into it. I used :wq and exited. It didn't show any error. Now when I do cat on that same file I am not able to see any content. I tried it several times. The same situation. Please let me know If I am doing something wrong....

  • How do I backup Credentials Manager passwords (Windows 7)

    I am trying to create a backup of my stored passwords in Credentials Manager. But after Windows switches to the secure desktop to get the password for the backup file it simply announced that "Your stored logon credentials could not be backed up" and gives as explanation "Element not found", neither of which is helpful. (In fact I hate the "X could not Y" type of error message). I am an administrator on the machine and there is only one password in Credentials Manager. The sole point of the backup is to create a nearly empty Credentials Manager so that I don't have to delete manually hundreds of password entries every time I have to change my domain password. (I think Microsoft haven't throught this through properly. There appears to be no way to delete more than one entry at a time.) Any ideas?

  • /dev/input/uinput Device appears to be 'broken'

    I'm trying to setup Pystromo so that I can remap the keys on my Belkin N52TE gamepad. Pystromo basically captures the key strokes and then outputs the remapped keystrokes to the uinput device. However, at the moment it simply swallows the input and outputs absolutely nothing. I've tracked the issue to something being wrong with my uinput device, with the smoking gun being: # ls -l /dev/input/uinput crw-rw---- 1 root plugdev 10, 223 Dec 31 2009 /dev/input/uinput # cat /dev/input/uinput cat: /dev/input/uinput: No such device The uinput module is loaded, and can be clearly seen via lsmod. Anyone seen this before, or can think of something worth attempting? Current Setup Gentoo Linux Kernel 2.6.32 (Gentoo Sources 2.6.32-r1) HP DV7 Laptop Output dmesg dmesg | grep uinput does nothing, and no new lines appear if I run modprobe -r uinput && modprobe uinput.   • Logging another person off in Windows 7 using Task Manager

    Under WinXP, I could use Task Manager's Users tab to log off my wife's account which she always leaves logged in so I don't have to log in to her account and log it out. It's an older machine so I used that trick to free up every resource I could which might potentially slow down the game I'm playing at the time. I recently upgraded the machine to Win7 and when I try the same trick, I get an access denied popup. My logged in account does have Admin rights, so is it as simple as runing Task Manager "as an Administrator" in order to allow this? If so, how can I pull up Task Manager (other than the standard CTRL-ALT-DELETE) to have it pop up with Admin rights in order to log her account off in this manner?

  • Removing (Presumably) Extraneous Network Adapters from Device Manager (eg WAN Miniport)

    Can anyone shed some light on the default items in the Network Adapters branch of the Windows Device Manager? In addition to the network card, there are always a bunch of other things that I cannot find any useful information on such as RAS Asynch Adapter and all the WAN Miniports (IKEv2, IP(v6), L2TP, Network Monitor, PPPOE, PPTP, SSTP). I would like to trim it down and uninstall whatever possible but cannot find out exactly what these items are responsible for (and therefore whether or not they are needed on my system). Most of the pages found with Google are either people trying to fix an error with such an item or someone asking what it is and being given an unhelpful, pat response like “just leave them alone” or “they’re necessary”. I highly doubt that is the case and I’m certain that at least some items can be removed because even if they become necessary in the future they can be added again (for example installing Network Monitor or Protowall reinstalls the miniport drivers anyway).

  • Several devices in Device Manager have Code 3 error

    One of our users' machines (Dell Optiplex 380 running Windows 7 32-bit) is having a weird driver issue. A bunch of devices have Error Code 3: The driver for this device might be corrupted, or your system may be running low on memory or other resources. (Code 3) The system isn't low on memory (only 1GB in use out of whatever the max for 32-bit is.) Here's a screenshot of the affected devices: I tried reinstalling the chipset and audio drivers to no avail. I have no idea what prompted it, and I'm not sure how the basic Windows Generic PnP Monitor driver could even be corrupted. What might be causing this error?

    WebLogic Server's Work Managers provide a way to control work and allocated threads. You can set different scheduling guidelines for different applications, depending on your requirements. There is a default self-tuning Work Manager, but you might want to set up a custom work manager in some circumstances: for example, when you want the server to prioritize one application over another when a response time goal is required, or when a minimum thread constraint is needed to avoid deadlock. The Work Manager Shutdown Trigger is a tool to help with stuck threads in which will do the following: Shut down the Work Manager. Move the application to Admin State (not active). Change the Server instance health state to failed. Example of a Shutdown Trigger set on the config.xml for your domain: <work-manager>   <name>stuckthread_workmanager</name>   <work-manager-shutdown-trigger>     <max-stuck-thread-time>30</max-stuck-thread-time>     <stuck-thread-count>2</stuck-thread-count>   </work-manager-shutdown-trigger> </work-manager> Understand that any misconfiguration on the Work Manager can lead to poor performance on the server. So in addition to plug-ins and connectors, the Exchange will have best practices, deployment procedures, templates, and essentially any Enterprise Manager entity that’s relevant. The Exchange provides Development Resources to guide contributors in the creation of plug-ins and connectors.   • Enterprise Manager Extensibility Exchange – Version 1.1 Now Available!

    Since its announcement at Oracle OpenWorld 2012, the Enterprise Manager Extensibility Exchange is becoming the source to access Enterprise Manager entities, including plug-ins, connectors, deployment procedures, assemblies, templates, and more.  Based on feedback, the Exchange has recently been updated so Enterprise Manager administrators can find and access Oracle and partner-built plug-ins and connectors easier. The Exchange enables anyone to contribute an Enterprise Manager entity through the “Contribute” tab, where information about the entity is captured and placed on the Exchange once it is approved.  The Exchange encourages comment through the Enterprise Manager Forum.  An Oracle partner can build a plug-in by accessing the Extensibility Development Kit (EDK) found at the Development Resources tab.  Oracle partners and customers can can also engage a partner that has built its practice specializing in plug-in development and deployment.  One of those partners is Blue Medora, which has effectively used the EDK to build plug-ins to manage non-Oracle targets.  Next week Blue Medora will be a "Guest Blogger" and tell a great story about heterogeneous datacenter management.Partners can also have their plug-ins validated through the Oracle Validated Integration (OVI) program.  NetApp is an example of a partner that recently built an Enterprise Manager plug-in and has validated it through the program.  Check back here in two weeks for their blog post describing the value of an Enterprise Manager "OVI" plug-in as well as discuss specifics the NetApp storage plug-in.  Check out the NetApp Enterprise Manager Validated Integration datasheet in the meantime.   • USB Device Not Recognized

    Ok this one gets a little bit complicated but bare with me :D A client brought her computer in to be fixed about a week ago, she says she tried charging a new phone she bought from china and immediately after her usb keyboard and mouse stopped working (typical). I had a quick look at it but because I did not have time, I did a simple system restore and it seemed as if the issue was fixed. I promptly sent it back to her but a few days back she called saying that the issue has returned. Turns out the computer was riddled with some virus that also corrupted her XP install so I had to format the whole thing(yes I tried repairing). I hoped that the format would fix the keyboard and mouse issue but the whole thing has escalated and the computer will throw the "USB Device not recognized" error when I plug anything into the many usb ports it has. I have installed all the drivers (including the chip set drivers) for the pc and even tried the unplugging from the power for a while trick, still no luck. I am sure it is not a hardware issue, but may be wrong. This is way over my head. Can anyone help? Computer: HP Compaq DC7100, Intel Pentium 4, 512mb RAM OS: Windows XP Professional SP2

  • USB sound device not recognized

    I have a USB sound device that used to work back when I ran other versions of Ubuntu. Now I can only partially see the device. I have tried many things I saw in Google searches, but none solve my problem. cat /proc/asound/cards sees the device as card 0 aplay -l shows C-Media USB Audio as card 0 alsamixer sees the device asoundconf list does not show the device sound preferences shows no hardware asoundconf-gtk set the device to pulseaudio, but fails with python errors ending in ValueError: too many values to unpack in the function set_default_card. I think this is the cause of my problem. The device is a Sony virtual phones wireless headphone amplifier.
