  • Good Slideshow DVD programs?

    - by AlexMax
I want to burn a bunch of pictures to a DVD slideshow. However, Google reveals that there are tons of software programs that claim to do this. Can anyone recommend one of them without me having to download 20 of them only to discover half don't work and the other half are free trials to $29 software that doesn't work either? The only one which I have tried out so far is DVD Slideshow GUI, which is simply a mess of programs. It was free, but it crashed a whole bunch, spit errors at me when i tried to preview and never worked when I tried to export the slideshow to mpg.

  • Should I worry about making my picasa web albums public?

    - by Motti
I choose the public option for all my albums in Picasaweb, these mostly (90%) contain pictures of my children which I share with my family. Ever so often somebody I don't know adds me as a favorite, at current count I have 7 people in my fan list (non of whom I know) and only three of them have any public albums. Is this creepy? I take care not to upload any pictures that may attract perverts What would you recommend, private by default or continue with public?

  • Restore Picasa people tags

    - by Paul
I have loaded Windows 7 to my laptop. Before doing this I backed up all my pictures using the Picasa backup utility. I then ran a restore on the clean Windows 7 install. I then installed Picasa 3.5 and none of the people tags showed up. I then went and deleted what I thought was the Picasa DB and then tried running the restore again. Now each folder shows up twice in Picasa but only once under the Windows Pictures folder. How do I get rid of the duplicates in Picasa and get my people tags back?

  • Mac webcam photo application with access to camera settings (resolution, camera selection, color balance, focus)

    - by Pascal T.
Does anyone know about a webcam photo application (ie an alternative to photo booth) with would allow to change the settings on the camera, such as : Select camera (I.e I want to use an external webcam) Change camera resolution (with photobooth change camera settings (I.e autofocus, aperture, color balance, etc..) I did a lot of research on the internet with no success. I am looking for a very simple app (such as wmcap.exe on Windows) What I tried so far: photo booth: it works with an external camera, however there is no way to change the resolution, or the color/focus settings manycam : a virtual webcam driver. you can add special effects to your camera and transfer those effects to any app, but not change your camera settings... iGlasses : enables you to change the camera settings inside photo booth and other apps. However you cannot control the focus, nor the video resolution macam (did not work on my Mac book Pro) Does anyone know better than me? Note : my only solution now is to launch a virtual machine (with parallels desktop) and take the pictures from there!

  • Having problems with uploading photos to TwitPic using OAuth in Objective C on the iPhone

    - by M. Bedi
I have been working on an iPhone app that has a feature of uploading photos to TwitPic. I have it working with basic authentication. I am trying to get it working with OAuth. I am getting authentication errors. I have studied very carefully the TwitPic documentation. I am authorising the app by displaying a UI Web View and the it returns a PIN value. I enter the PIN value in the app and request the token. I am able to upload status updates to Twitter but not photos. My code is based on some example code from here: Example iPhone app using OAuth Here is my code: NSString *url = @"http://api.twitpic.com/2/upload.json"; NSString *oauth_header = [oAuth oAuthHeaderForMethod:@"POST" andUrl:url andParams:nil]; NSLog(@"OAuth header : %@\n\n", oauth_header); ASIFormDataRequest *request = [ASIFormDataRequest requestWithURL:[NSURL URLWithString:url]]; [request addRequestHeader:@"User-Agent" value:@"ASIHTTPRequest"]; request.requestMethod = @"POST"; [request addRequestHeader:@"X-Auth-Service-Provider" value:@"https://api.twitter.com/1/account/verify_credentials.json"]; [request addRequestHeader:@"X-Verify-Credentials-Authorization" value:oauth_header]; NSData *imageRepresentation = UIImageJPEGRepresentation(imageToUpload, 0.8); [request setData:imageRepresentation forKey:@"media"]; [request setPostValue:@"Some Message" forKey:@"message"]; [request setPostValue:TWITPIC_API_KEY forKey:@"key"]; [request setDelegate:self]; [request setDidFinishSelector:@selector(requestDone:)]; [request setDidFailSelector:@selector(requestFailed:)]; [request start]; Here is the OAuth Header: OAuth realm="http://api.twitter.com/", oauth_timestamp="1275492425", oauth_nonce="b686f20a18ba6763ac52b689b2ac0c421a9e4013", oauth_signature_method="HMAC-SHA1", oauth_consumer_key="zNbW3Xi3MuS7i9cpz6fw", oauth_version="1.0", oauth_token="147275699-jmrjpwk3B6mO2FX2BCc9Ci9CRBbBKYW1bOni2MYs", oauth_signature="d17HImz6VgygZgbcp845CD2qNnI%3D"

  • Dolby Digital Live (DDL) on Asus Rampage II Gene (Creative X-Fi Extreme)

    - by kevyn
Hi there, I have an Asus Rampage II Gene motherboard which has X-Fi extreme built in. I can get it to work with Windows 7 ok using the Creative drivers, however when I try and install the DDL/DTS add on pack from Creative I get the error message: "There are no supported audio device available. You need to close the application. Click OK to close the application now" I don't understand it because I have the Creative software installed ok and supporting the sound without any problems. In Device manager the audio device comes up as 'High definition audio device' and uses driver: 6.1.7600.16385 from Microsoft. I tried using the Creative drivers which show up as 'soundmax HD audio' however these do not allow any of the Creative products to run properly. Please can anyone offer any help? Or even just confirm that DDL can work with my onboard sound? Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit 6GB DDR3 XFX GS8800 384mb Asus Rampage II Gene Intel i7 920 (2.66)

  • How to check a digital certificate?

    - by StackedCrooked
I have extracted a certificate from a cable modem. Now I want to verify if this certificate is valid. If I understand correctly, the verification process consists of having the issuer sign the subject's public key and then comparing the result with the subject's signature. This signing process is done using the issuer's private key, which nobody but the issuer has access to. So even if I have both certificates on my PC, there is no way for me to verify the subject's validity. From this I can only conclude that the verification must be implemented as a remote service. The problem is that I don't know what remote service I need to access to verify this certificate. The issuer is "AVM GmbH Cable Modem Root Certificate Authority". How can I find the webservice for verification? Is there standard lookup mechanism for this?

  • Digital Asset Management, iPhoto / Aperture server... alternative

    - by Sisyphus
Afternoon, Clients, 10 : All Apples running either Leopard or Snow Leopard Server : Snow Leopard server, (and I have a old Dell Poweredge 650 at home running Gentoo 2.6, if anybody as a Linux solution). The situation: I work in small design company with 8 people, at present we are looking to consolidate all our image files onto one location, at present we each use our preferred single user DAM solution, be it, Adobe Bridge, iPhoto/Aperture (some don't bother at all) The filetypes commonly used are .psd, .pdf, .eps, .tiff, .jpg and RAW image files. Ideally what is needed: Centralised on one server, but allows us to search via spotlight (not essential, but would be nice) Include searchable metadata information such as date, location, title Open-source or as low cost as possibly Allow simultaneous users to import files So far, I have looked at a few open source DAM, systems, such as Razuna, Gallery (not strictly DAM), ResourceSpace, Notre-DAM, while these are brilliant and open-source, they don't integrate as smoothly with the Desktop as iPhoto and aperture. For iPhoto and aperture, I have tried creating a Shared library on the server (a tad laggy), and also using a drive with no permissions, put a library and letting each client read from it, however if they want to put images onto the library only, it's only supports one user at a time writing to the library... Any ideas what could fulfill our needs? Or is it time to bite the bullet for FinalCut Server? Thanks in advance.

  • Blurry Digital TV Signal in Media Center

    - by hazmat
I recently reformatted my box and I reinstalled XP Media Center 2005. My TV signal is perfect if I plug it directly into the tv; and at any rate even shows I recorded previous to the reformat are blury. I have installed all updates (including Media Player 11) and I have installed a codec pack for different file types. I have no clue why it wouldn't display right. When I play the previously recorded shows in VLC they come out perfectly clear... Any ideas?

  • Adobe Volume License for Indesign Digital Download Location?

    - by elistp
We recently purchased a volume license for Adobe Indesign from Dell. We received an e-mail for the order that contains the serial #. However, there is no information on how to obtain Adobe Indesign from the Adobe licensing portal. This is our first time dealing with Adobe volume licensing so I'm a bit lost as to what we're suppose to do. I've googled around a little and found an Adobe License Portal but I do not have access to it. Does anyone with experience concerning Adobe volume licensing have any idea what we're suppose to do to get a download of our purchase?

  • recover lost files from sd card(digital camera)

    - by user23950
How do I recover lost data from sd card? I already tried using: Photorec Recuva Tune up undelete Pareto data recovery chkdsk x: /F from here: http://superuser.com/questions/128259/how-to-recover-images-from-memory-card But none of them worked. I think I've only lost the data yesterday. And I haven't used the camera. So there's a possibility that it is still there. But the question is how I can recover the images? I think its lost when I tried to connect the digicam with the computer. But the camera froze so I tried to remove the batteries then try again.

  • Lagging digital tv over ethernet

    - by Steve
I have a HD Home Run TV over ethernet device, which connects the aerial to my router, and from there the router connects to my PC over about 15m of 100Mbps ethernet cable. The TV output lags every second. It does not do so for a computer much closer to the router. It is odd to me that the network rate is around 7Mbps on a 100Mbps cable. I am not downloading or streaming anything else on the affected computer. Is this lag caused by the speed of the cable, the length of the cable, or interference on the cable? I am considering swapping the ethernet cable with shielded ethernet cable.

  • 5.1 Sound Card with digital input for Ubuntu

I have a Intel Atom PC that I'm shoe-horning into a role as a media server. I have a 5.1 surround sound speaker set that works pretty well. I want to be able to take the optical out from my cable box or PS3 and route it into the PC so that I can play it surround sound. Is there a low price video card that has 5.1 and optical in that works with Ubuntu?

  • Western Digital Caviar SE16 not recognized

    - by NStorm
Before I start, I have been looking at quite a few websites and I still have not found an answer to my problem. I have been building my own computer recently and I have just received the hard drive (WD Caviar SE16 WD5000AAKS) I was planning to put in my computer. After connecting the SATA power cable (99.99999% sure it is connected correctly) and the SATA cable to my motherboard (ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3) I booted my computer into a Linux Mint 13 XFCE 64-bit live USB expecting to see a hard drive when I came to install. Sadly when I checked the only hard drive that was showing was /dev/sda which was my USB with the Linux files on it. I also checked gparted and no hard drive other than my USB was showing up there either. Lastly I checked my BIOS and no matter what SATA port I connected the HDD to it wouldn't show up there either. Does anyone have any advice? Some images of my set-up which could help are bellow: Thanks in advance, Nick

  • How to Create a Cinemagraph; Still Photos with Moving Elements

    - by Jason Fitzpatrick
Cinemagraphs, still photos with moving elements, are quite a trend in photography circles. Unlike jerky animated GIFs, they’re much more fluid and subtle. Learn how to make them with this tutorial. At Photojojo! they have a detailed tutorial outlining how to create a cinemagraph that covers the planning and execution of your image. If you’ve never heard of the process before it’s pretty neat. You take a series of photographs and then, using image editing tools, mask off only the parts of the photo you want to move (like the eyes in the photos sample seen here). Then you blend the photos together and create an animated GIF where in only the small portion of the image actually moves. This is quite different than the jerky animated GIFs that result when people try to turn full motion video into an animation. Hit up the link below to see how you can create your own cinemagraphs. • iPhone/iPad SDK: homescreen/Photos style grid view?

    - by igul222
I'm building an iPad app, and would like to use a "tiled" display with objects arranged in a grid, similar to the iPhone/iPad home screen and the iPad photos app. More examples of this interface: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/flipside-hd/id364916273?mt=8 http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/evernote/id281796108?mt=8 Is there any pre-built way in the SDK to do this? If not, how should I go about creating my own?

  • Face Recognition for classifying digital photos?

    - by Jeremy E
I like to mess around with AI and wanted to try my hand at face recognition the first step is to find the faces in the photographs. How is this usually done? Do you use convolution of a sample image/images or statistics based methods? How do you find the bounding box for the face? My goal is to classify the pictures of my kids from all the digital photos. Thanks in advance.
