  • Exploded (unpacked) EAR vs. Packaged EAR file?

    In my office we use exploded EAR's (and inside them exploded WAR directories) for our test environments, and then a packaged one for production. I've yet to find a good explanation of the reason behind this though. I understand it's easier from a deployment perspective to push out a single file during builds, but it prevents us from doing things like property file changes without doing complete rebuilds (we could skip the compiles, but our environment currently binds the compile and jar processes together). What are the major advantages / disadvantages between these two configurations?

    I am currently using Qt Creator 1.3 for my Qt applications. I know it uses jom for make step which is better when we have multi core processors. But besides that what are all the advantages of using both the IDEs? Dis advantages as well? I am using CL compiler though for compiling my applications. Is there any other specific advantages and disadvantages of these IDEs?

    Hi, I am trying to break away from using tables in my formatting, and am trying out using userlist html tags <ul> Say I have a panel with 10 controls, and I want a 3 columns display, therefore 3 controls in each row, and a total of 4 rows for 10 controls.     I'm having trouble figuring out the syntax for a JScript .NET dictionary object. I have tried private var myDictionary: Dictionary<string><string>; but the compiler complains that it's missing a semicolon and that the Dictionary object is not declared. I know JScript does have a native dictionary-like object format, but I'm not sure if there are disadvantages to using it instead of the .NET-specific construct. I.e., what if someone wants to extend my script using another .NET language?

    in .net Claim-based identity framework If i wanted to restrict users to do an operation (view or edit) on let's say an account, a particular account #123456.(i am talking about business entity, like a bank account.) Is it a good idea to create a claim for each account they can view or edit? Any disadvantages of having a lot of claims in a set? a system admin might have access to all accounts in the system thus creating hundreds of claims (maybe more than one for each account)
