  • Basic video editor for AVCHD Lite files?

    - by davr
I have a camera (Panasonic Lumix GF-1) that outputs "AVCHD Lite" files, 720p h264 in a MTS container. I saw this question that said Movie Maker in Windows 7 supports AVCHD...but I just tried, and unfortunately it does not support AVCHD Lite. Are there any free or inexpensive non-linear video editors (NLE) that can natively handle AVCHD Lite files, without requiring some 3rd party driver? If not, are there any 3rd party drivers that are especially stable? (In my experience they usually have some problems...I got AVCHD Lite loading into VirtualDub using a 3rd party plugin, but it's very slow and sometimes crashes, and seeking takes ages.

  • How to split an m4v file?

    - by Chris
I downloaded a TV season on iTunes (.m4v files), however the files are clustered into 3 episodes each. I'd like to chop these up so that each episode is in it's own file. Googling around a while didn't provide any promising leads. What's the easiest way to split these files up? Thanks in advance, Cheers!

  • Help importing video from old Sony digital tape HandyCam

    - by thatryan
Some friends gave me their old HandyCam and a bunch of tapes asking me to put them on a DVD. The model is Sony DCR-TVR103 and it records onto Hi8 digital tapes. It has a firewire port also. I am trying to use import function in iMovie on OS X 10.6. Every import though the video is super fast, like playing in fast forward. Ever seen anything like this? How can I import this video? Thank you.

  • Dreamweaver Files uploaded to Win 2008 server cause login prompt

    - by Lil
I have a customer who uses a 4 year old version of Dreamweaver to edit her webpages. My hosting reseller account is with a company that uses Windows Server 2008. Every time my customer edits a page and uploads it, I have to set the permissions for that file to be readable, manually from the site's control panel. The customer is furious with me because her files cause the login prompt. I am able to upload files myself that remain readable to the site with both Filezilla and with Frontpage. I am assuming that her Dreamweaver settings are the cause of the problem but I don't have that program myself and don't know what to advise her. Any suggestions?

  • Proffesional video editor that can handle FLV?

    - by acidzombie24
I tried Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 and was not able to open my file (unsupported format). Media player can open it thanks to ffdshow (tryouts IIRC). Premiere doesnt seem to want to use ffdshow. I tried renaming it to AVI and hoped Premiere would open it via ffdshow but it didnt and i checked and disabled the dont use ffdshow option in ffdshow video decoder option. What is a good proffesional video editor that can handle FLV? All ffmpeg based editors died on it and virtualdub got close but had a bad framerate. Probably bc it didnt know it was a streaming vid and the start is 26mins of 31min video. More info here but what can i use to open and properly convert flv video http://superuser.com/questions/50779/windows-media-based-video-audio-converter

  • How to split a text file into multiple text files

    - by Andrew
    I have a text file called entry.txt that contains the following: [ entry1 ] 1239 1240 1242 1391 1392 1394 1486 1487 1489 1600 1601 1603 1657 1658 1660 2075 2076 2078 2322 2323 2325 2740 2741 2743 3082 3083 3085 3291 3292 3294 3481 3482 3484 3633 3634 3636 3690 3691 3693 3766 3767 3769 4526 4527 4529 4583 4584 4586 4773 4774 4776 5153 5154 5156 5628 5629 5631 [ entry2 ] 1239 1240 1242 1391 1392 1394 1486 1487 1489 1600 1601 1603 1657 1658 1660 2075 2076 2078 2322 2323 2325 2740 2741 2743 3082 3083 3085 3291 3292 3294 3481 3482 3484 3690 3691 3693 3766 3767 3769 4526 4527 4529 4583 4584 4586 4773 4774 4776 5153 5154 5156 5628 5629 5631 [ entry3 ] 1239 1240 1242 1391 1392 1394 1486 1487 1489 1600 1601 1603 1657 1658 1660 2075 2076 2078 2322 2323 2325 2740 2741 2743 3082 3083 3085 3291 3292 3294 3481 3482 3484 3690 3691 3693 3766 3767 3769 4241 4242 4244 4526 4527 4529 4583 4584 4586 4773 4774 4776 5153 5154 5156 5495 5496 5498 5628 5629 5631 I would like to split it into three text files: entry1.txt, entry2.txt, entry3.txt. Their contents are as follows. entry1.txt: [ entry1 ] 1239 1240 1242 1391 1392 1394 1486 1487 1489 1600 1601 1603 1657 1658 1660 2075 2076 2078 2322 2323 2325 2740 2741 2743 3082 3083 3085 3291 3292 3294 3481 3482 3484 3633 3634 3636 3690 3691 3693 3766 3767 3769 4526 4527 4529 4583 4584 4586 4773 4774 4776 5153 5154 5156 5628 5629 5631 entry2.txt: [ entry2 ] 1239 1240 1242 1391 1392 1394 1486 1487 1489 1600 1601 1603 1657 1658 1660 2075 2076 2078 2322 2323 2325 2740 2741 2743 3082 3083 3085 3291 3292 3294 3481 3482 3484 3690 3691 3693 3766 3767 3769 4526 4527 4529 4583 4584 4586 4773 4774 4776 5153 5154 5156 5628 5629 5631 entry3.txt: [ entry3 ] 1239 1240 1242 1391 1392 1394 1486 1487 1489 1600 1601 1603 1657 1658 1660 2075 2076 2078 2322 2323 2325 2740 2741 2743 3082 3083 3085 3291 3292 3294 3481 3482 3484 3690 3691 3693 3766 3767 3769 4241 4242 4244 4526 4527 4529 4583 4584 4586 4773 4774 4776 5153 5154 5156 5495 5496 5498 5628 5629 5631 In other words, the [ character indicates a new file should begin. Is there any way I can accomplish automatic text file splitting? My eventual, actual input entry.txt actually contains 200,001 entries. Doing the text split in either Windows or Linux would be great. I do not have access to a Mac machine. Thanks!

  • Find and Replace several several different values all at once

    - by matt
I have a file with multiple instances of Text_1 and Text1 and I need to replace both those strings with Text_A and TextB respectively. Currently I'm doing two Find and Replace functions on each file one that finds Text_1 and replaces it with Text_A and the other that finds Text1 and replaces it with TextB. Is there any way to do this all at once instead of having to run "Find and Replace" twice? I am using Dreamweaver CS3, but I also have Notepad++, regular Notepad, OO Writer, MS Word if those will be easier. Ideally I could do this in Dreamweaver or Notepad++ but I'm open to downloading something else to get the job done. I'd prefer not to have to do any command line stuff or create a batch file (while I'm aware of it, I don't understand it really). Edit: In case the above description isn't clear, let me explain it this way... I want to run Find & Replace 1 time in 1 document and I want it to do ALL of the following during that one Find & Replace instance: Find: Text_1 and Replace with: Text_A Find: Text1 and Replace with: TextB I am not trying to do a Find and Replace across several documents.

  • What's the state of the art in image upscaling?

    - by monov
I like to collect cool pics and use them as wallpapers or for other things. Often, artists publish only low-res versions, probably for fear of theft. Example: Gabriel Pulecio's BIRDS Now, if I want to use that as a wallpaper, I'd have to upscale it, and obviously that'd make it look blurry because of the bicubic interpolation. I realize there's no real way to get a high-res version from a low-res pic, because the information is not simply there. That said, I'm wondering if heuristics have been developed for upscaling with less apparent loss of quality. Those would probably be optimized for specific image types. For photorealistic pictures, for cartoons with large flat areas, for pixel art... One algorithm I'm aware of is Seam Carving. It works for some kinds of pics, especially ones with a plain, undetailed or uninteresting background, and a subject that strongly stands out. But it's far from being general-purpose. Applying it to the above pic produces this. It looks quite sharp, but the proportions are horribly distorted because the algorithm is not designed for this kind of pic. Another is Pixel art scaling algorithms. Those are completely unfit for anything other than actual pixel art that's pixelized to begin with. For example, I tried the scale2x windows binary on my pic, but its output was nearly indistinguishable from nearest-neighbour scaling because the algorithm didn't detect any isolated pixely fragments to work from. Something else I tried was: I enlarged the image in Photoshop with bicubic interpolation, then I applied unsharp mask. The result looks pretty bad. The red blotch is actually resized reasonably well, but the dove is far from it. What I'm looking for is some app that makes a best-effort attempt at upscaling any input image while minimizing blurriness. If you know of any, I'll be thankful. Note that the subjective prettiness and sharpness of the result is what matters... the result doesn't need to be completely faithful to the original small image.

  • Where did the text of my .html file go in TextEdit on Mac OS X?

    - by David
I recently created a .html file in TextEdit on my Mac (Mac OS X 10.5.8). I then opened that .html file in my browser and it showed the page I created just fine. I closed the .html file and TextEdit and refreshed the page. It still worked fine. Then I opened up the .html file in TextEdit again and all the text was gone (the page in the browser still works fine though). Where did all the text go?

  • Software for cutting/resizing/joining videos?

    - by eSKay
hi! I need a free software for Windows Vista that can split my videos, merge them and resize the resolution. These are the features I need. Features like conversion from one format to another would be useful but not necessary. Any cool small piece of software that comes to mind??

  • Blur a moving area in a movie on Mac OS X

    - by Stefano Borini
Note, there's already a question on this regard, but it's totally useless. I need to blur, or put a small opaque mask to a moving object on a movie I took, I am using Mac OS X. Clearly, I don't want to shell out a lot of money for something so simple, so getting Adobe Premiere or similar software is a no go. I could however consider paying a small software (max 30 dollars) for this specific task.

  • Is there any automatic tool to remove edges from an image that has been anti-aliased onto a white ba

    - by Macha
I have a few images that have been anti-aliased onto a white background that I want to put on a transparent background. Just selecting it with the -wand tool/fuzzy select tool/select your terminology of choice- and deleting the background tends to leave a ring of off-white pixels around the image, or eat into the image depending on the tolerance setting. Is there some better way to do this, preferably an automatic tool? (I'm on Linux)

  • How to edit screen grabbed video on Windows XP?

    - by tangens
Problem I've used CamStudio to record a presentation (fullscreen, 1280x1024, 45 min, no audio) to a small number of AVI files (10 files with about 800 MB total). Now I want to remove the initial and trailer sequences where you see start and stop of CamStudio. I'd like to remove some pauses during the video, too. Question Could you recommend some programs for Windows XP that I can use for this task? The result should be a (small - at least not bigger than the original) video format that I can play back. I've no need to create a DVD etc. Already tried I already tried MAGIX Video Deluxe 16 (Trial Version), but it takes about 2 hours to just export 10 minutes of the video and produces about 2 GB of data for this.
