  • postgresql service corrupt, how can i re-create service?

    Hi all, I recently was tricked into running one of those registry cleaner programs (RegistryBooster). It seemed to work fine until I tried to start my postgres service. For some reason, the 'path to executable' was no longer set on the service properties page, and obviously would not start without a path. How can I either fix the existing service or uninstall/ re-install just the service without re-installing postgres altogether? postgres 8.4 windows xp sp3

  • Windows Service Limit Crashes Services on Startup

    We have developed a custom Windows service in C# as part of a large Enterprise application. Our QA department tests multiple versions of this service. The QA lab has several (over 20) copies of this service installed on one Windows 2003 test box. Each copy is in its own folder and has a unique service name, though each executable file is named the same (OurWindowsService.exe, for example). Each service uses the same Windows credentials (a domain user). The purpose of this service is to handle MSMQ messages. The queued messages do all sorts of important stuff. For some reason, they can run only 5 of these services at a time. When we start a 6th, the service crashes on startup. For example, I can start #1, #2, #3, #4, and #5. When I start #6, it crashes. However, if I stop #1 and start #6, #6 runs fine, and now #1 fails to start. When the services crash, the following error appears in the Windows event log: Faulting application OurWindowsService.exe, version 5.40.1.1, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 5.2.3790.4480, fault address 0x0000bef7. I was able to use WinDbg to generate a postmortem dump file.     I have antivirus service (Kaspersky) that occasionally becomes unresponsive to the normal stop/stop gui interface provided by said vendor. I would like to find a way to kill the service for a restart without rebooting, however all attempts I have tried result in failure with an 'Access is Denied' error. These include: Services Control Panel (grayed out stop button) Task Manager Killing Process Explorer Killing command line net and sc stopping runas with domain admin using net stop Some details include: Machine: Windows Vista Service Type: 10 WIN32_OWN_PROCESS Service State: 4 Running (NOT_STOPPABLE, NOT_PAUSABLE, ACCEPTS_SHUTDOWN)

  • Windows Azure Service Bus Scatter-Gather Implementation

    One of the more challenging enterprise integration patterns that developers may wish to implement is the Scatter-Gather pattern. In this article I will show the basic implementation of a scatter-gather pattern using the topic-subscription model of the windows azure service bus. I’ll be using the implementation in demos, and also as a lab in my training courses, and the pattern will also be included in the next release of my free e-book the “Windows Azure Service Bus Developer Guide”. The Scatter-Gather pattern answers the following scenario. How do you maintain the overall message flow when a message needs to be sent to multiple recipients, each of which may send a reply? Use a Scatter-Gather that broadcasts a message to multiple recipients and re-aggregates the responses back into a single message. The Enterprise Integration Patterns website provides a description of the Scatter-Gather pattern here.   The scatter-gather pattern uses a composite of the publish-subscribe channel pattern and the aggregator pattern. The publish-subscribe channel is used to broadcast messages to a number of receivers, and the aggregator is used to gather the response messages and aggregate them together to form a single message. Scatter-Gather Scenario The scenario for this scatter-gather implementation is an application that allows users to answer questions in a poll based voting scenario. A poll manager application will be used to broadcast questions to users, the users will use a voting application that will receive and display the questions and send the votes back to the poll manager. The poll manager application will receive the users’ votes and aggregate them together to display the results. The scenario should be able to scale to support a large number of users.   Scatter-Gather Implementation The diagram below shows the overall architecture for the scatter-gather implementation.       Messaging Entities Looking at the scatter-gather pattern diagram it can be seen that the topic-subscription architecture is well suited for broadcasting a message to a number of subscribers. The poll manager application can send the question messages to a topic, and each voting application can receive the question message on its own subscription. The static limit of 2,000 subscriptions per topic in the current release means that 2,000 voting applications can receive question messages and take part in voting. The vote messages can then be sent to the poll manager application using a queue. The voting applications will send their vote messages to the queue, and the poll manager will receive and process the vote messages. The questions topic and answer queue are created using the Windows Azure Developer Portal. Each instance of the voting application will create its own subscription in the questions topic when it starts, allowing the question messages to be broadcast to all subscribing voting applications. Data Contracts Two simple data contracts will be used to serialize the questions and votes as brokered messages. The questions that have been broadcast and the resulting votes are shown in a ListView control. This one is more basic, and allows the user to vote “Yes” or “No” for the questions sent by the poll manager application. The user interface for that application is shown below. When an instance of the voting application is created it will create a subscription in the questions topic using a GUID as the subscription name. The application can then receive copies of every question message that is sent to the topic. Clients for the new subscription and the votes queue are created, along with a background worker to receive the question messages. As no instances of the voting application have been created there are no subscriptions present in the topic. When an instance of the voting application is created the subscription will be displayed in the poll manager. Now that a voting application is subscribing, a questing can be sent from the poll manager application. When the message is sent to the topic, the voting application will receive the message and display the question. The voter can then answer the question by clicking on the appropriate button. The results of the vote are updated in the poll manager application. When two more instances of the voting application are created, the poll manager will display the new subscriptions. More questions can then be broadcast to the voting applications. As the question messages are queued up in the subscription for each voting application, the users can answer the questions in their own time. The vote messages will be received by the poll manager application and aggregated to display the results. The screenshots of the applications part way through voting are shown below. The messages for each voting application are queued up in sequence on the voting application subscriptions, allowing the questions to be answered at different speeds by the voters.

  • Calling webservice from WCF service

    I am having an issue consuming a webservice (c#.net) from a WCF service. The error i am getting is EndPointNotFoundException "TCP error code 10061: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it" I wrote a unit test to check if i could send a request to the web service and it worked fine [The unit test is using the same binding configuration as my WCF service] The web service and WCF service (client) have basichttp binding. Did anyone had similar kind of issue calling a webservice from a WCF service?   • Hosting a WCF Service Lib through a Windows service get a System.InvalidOperationException: attempti

    I have a WCF Service Library containing five service contracts. The library is hosted through a Windows Service. Most if not all my configuration for the WCF Library is declaritive. The only thing I am doing in code for configuration is to pass the type of the class implementing the service contracts into ServiceHost. I then call Open on each of the services during the Windows Service OnStart event. Here is the error message I get: Service cannot be started. System.InvalidOperationException: Service '[Fubu.Conversion.Service1' has zero application (non-infrastructure) endpoints.     Good day, Here is the problem : We are hosting a Microsoft Exchange Server. Everything working fine until recently, where the mail transport seems to go wrong. We almost have to restart the service every morning. The thing is that the transport service is started, but the mail are not delivered to the users and senders to our server get a delayed delivery notification. When we restart the service, all the mail is then delivered to the users and we're good to go for a day or two. Things I've noticed : The store service is growing to around 6 Gb of used RAM, and the w3wp.exe service is hanging around 700mb RAM. Is there a way to schedule a restart of the transport role every 4 hours or something while I'm solving the issue so I don't have to worry when I leave for the week-end? And most of all...does anyone have any idea on how to solve this issue? Thanks, Philippe

    Hi dear Gurus! I'm in stuck point now, so please at least try to help me. I've installed DPM 2010 on cluster server (w2k8 r2), everything was fine. Than I've tried tot install Protection Agent on both server of my cluster, but I'm getting error Error 312: The agent operation failed because the DPM Agent Coordinator service is not responding. Error details: The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it (0x80070422) Recommended action: Restart the DPM Agent Coordinator service on . And the thing is that I'm totally can't see DPM Agent Coordinator service not on the localhost, nor on the second server. All the suggestion, that I've found in the internet are suggesting to restart this service, but how can I perform this if the one is absent? I'll be glad for any help

  • Heterogeneous Datacenter Management with Enterprise Manager 12c

    The following is a Guest Blog, contributed by Bryce Kaiser, Product Manager at Blue MedoraWhen I envision a perfect datacenter, it would consist of technologies acquired from a single vendor across the entire server, middleware, application, network, and storage stack - Apps to Disk - that meets your organization’s every IT requirement with absolute best-of-breed solutions in every category.   To quote a familiar motto, your datacenter would consist of "Hardware and Software, Engineered to Work Together".  In almost all cases, practical realities dictate something far less than the IT Utopia mentioned above.   You may wish to leverage multiple vendors to keep licensing costs down, a single vendor may not have an offering in the IT category you need, or your preferred vendor may quite simply not have the solution that meets your needs.    In other words, your IT needs dictate a heterogeneous IT environment.  Heterogeneity, however, comes with additional complexity. The following are two pretty typical challenges:1) No End-to-End Visibility into the Enterprise Wide Application Deployment. Each vendor solution which is added to an infrastructure may bring its own tooling creating different consoles for different vendor applications and platforms.2) No Visibility into Performance Bottlenecks. When multiple management tools operate independently, you lose diagnostic capabilities including identifying cross-tier issues with database, hung-requests, slowness, memory leaks and hardware errors/failures causing DB/MW issues.   • Alfa AWUS036H USB wireless adapter not recognized

    The Alfa AWUS036H USB wireless adapter will not be recognized by my netbook (Ubuntu 14.04, Asus X201E). As I understand it, the drivers should already be built in to this version of Linux, but I tried a make/make install of the latest Realtek drivers (as mentioned on How do I install drivers for the Alfa AWUS036H USB wireless adapter?) and it didn't work. I then followed the advice of this thread (ALFA AWUS036NH driver) and did a make/make install of the most up-to-date backport of the drivers, but that didn't work. At this point I tried a series of commands from this thread (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2187780) in an attempt to identify the problem, but at no point could I get the laptop to ever recognize the USB adapter. I have also troubleshot the USB cable itself, tried both the USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports on the laptop, have never received an error message regarding a need to update the firmware, and have seemingly successfully installed all manner of variation of Realtek drivers which were supposed to make the adapter work. (I also tried to delete/clean up after each install, in the hope I wasn't making things worse.) Not sure what I should do next. Please let me know if I need to post any more information. Attempting to add two usb 3.0 ports to be provided by a generic usb 3.0 pci express card installed in the pci expres slot. The new card says usb 3.0 and has the blue ports. The card is installed into the laptop unpowered, then the laptop is powered on and boots normally.
