    When first visiting my site after not visiting it for a few minutes, the connection is "reset" 100% of the time. I get this message when debug is turned on, along with a 400 bad request status message: client prematurely closed connection while reading client request line I've read that this could be caused by large_client_header_buffers setting. I have google analytics on my site. Using live http headers, I get this as the request: `GET /__utm.gif?utmwv=5.3.7&utms=35&utmn=745612186&utmhn=domain.com&utmcs=UTF-8&utmsr=1920x1080&utmvp=1841x903&utmsc=24-bit&utmul=en-us&utmje=1&utmfl=11.4%20r402&utmdt=2006Scape%20Forums%20-%20General&utmhid=2004697163&utmr=0&utmp=%2Fservices%2Fforums%2Fboard.ws%3F3%2C4&utmac=UA-25674897-2&utmcc=__utma%3D68455186.1647889527.1351640625.1352446442.1352451659.100%3B%2B__utmz%3D68455186.1352097329.64.2.utmcsr%3Ddomain.com%7Cutmccn%3D(referral)%7Cutmcmd%3Dreferral%7Cutmcct%3D%2Fservices%2Fforums%2Fboard.ws%3B&utmu=q~ HTTP/1.1 my large_client_header_buffers in nginx is set to 4 8k, so I don't know if this is the problem.   • Share ADSL Internet connection between two computers 40 meters away (straight) from each other

    I have a box with a working ADSL Internet connection. About 40 meters away (straight), in another house, there is another, older box. There are two houses in between. Would there be some practical way to supply an Internet connection to the older box? The neighbors are ok with us installing cables and stuff. I'd say wifi would not be practical, since the houses in between would weaken the signal too much. And using Ethernet cables might require a switch or router in between, due to Ethernet distance limitations. Advice?

  • Internet connection too slow

    I now think that it is the ISP. After a full scan of my system. With super antispyware, avast, norton and spybot. Internet connection is still slow. And the truth is we have recently upgraded the connection from 512 kbps to 768. And I get a .25 Mbps at speedtest.net which is equivalent to 256 Kbps. Its not even half of the advertised speed. Is it normal for ISP's to just limit your bandwidth if you are always downloading something from the internet? Are they entitled to do this.

    I have one windows server 2008 r2, and that server has 4 network interfaces (3 private, 1 internet connection). I would like to share internet connection with other 3 networks. Windows server firewall should make logs of data that is transfered. It should not be possible to connect directly to private networks from internet. How could I do it? Edit: I tried with NAT in RRAS, but it doesn't work. Here is the configuration: Server: IP private:192.168.0.1 IP public: xx.xx.xx.xx client IP:192.168.0.2 Default gateway: 192.168.0.1 Public and private interface added in NAT section of RRAS.

    I got two domains, which are pointing on the same IP address, I can use both to connect to the server or certain port (TeamSpeak), the problem is that I would like the only one domain from those two to be working while connecting to a certain port. Eg. example.com points at the 11.22.33.44 -- allow connection to the certain port from this domain. sample.com points at the 11.22.33.44 -- disallow connection to the port specified above from this domain. I know this would be possible for the IP addresses, but would it be possible for the domains?

I want to remote desktop connection to my friend over the internet, but I don't have premission for port forwarding on the router, and my friend also can't configure his router. So the question is how to connect to computer without port forwarding, I know that is out there some programs like teamviewer, or some else that solve that task, but what I looking for is the some free site that can make "bridge" between are two computer, or is it possible to install on computer some program that simulate virtual router or something like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SIof7kFTgJE ....   • Internet connection issues after installing Windows Phone 8 SDK

    first of all I must admit, that I'm not good in all this network stuff. I am using Windows 8 OS. On my laptop (Lenovo G570) I have installed Windows Phone 8 SDK and shortly after this I started having weird issues with internet connection. When I start my laptop, internet usually works fine, but after a few minutes it starts slowing down so much, that I'm not able to open a single page. Rebooting doesn't work, after several disabling and enabling network adapter, it usually works again for a few minutes and then again it stops. I'm sure it has something to do with Windows Phone 8 SDK, because problems started with this. With SDK there was also installed "vEthernet (Internal Ethernet Port Windows Phone Emulator Internal Switch)" network adapter. It is worth to note that problems occur mostly in my school network, not at home. Both at home and school I am using Wi-Fi connection. I hope the information given are enough to help me.     hi, is there any way, to restrict hibernate not to create connection of its own(what we define in hibernate.properties or hibernate.cfg.xml), instead i can create and pass the connection to hibernate for further processing. The problem is that i need to set the ApplicationContext on the connection given that the i am using oracle connection. I know how to create a connection and set the applicationContext on to it.. but the problem is that i don't know how to force hibernate to use the connection that i have created.. Please help..

  • NAT cause huge External (actually internal) bandwidth usage

    We have 4 servers running in a data center, with internal IP: 192.168.3.* assigned. A hardware (FORTIGATE) firewall configured NAT, and it will lead the traffic as: external IP: 111.222.333.10 -> 192.168.3.10 www.server1.com 111.222.333.11 -> 192.168.3.11 www.server2.com 111.222.333.12 -> 192.168.3.12 www.server3.com In DNS, we have www.server1.com A 111.222.333.10 Now if I send a lot of data to www.server1.com from www.server2.com, the data will be send through 111.222.333.10 (external IP) and this cause our bandwidth usage huge (expensive!). The work around I have is to add a local host mapping to server2: 192.168.3.10 www.server1.com. That way when send files from server2 to www.server1.com, it will be internal. However, we are having more and more servers, it would be hard to manually add mapping to every server. Just wondering do we have another solution for this? Can we do something in the FORTIGATE firewall? ps. The DNS server being used is public, such as opendns, Google dns etc.

  • USB External HDD NOT spinning down on Windows Vista / Windows 7

    I have 3 external 2.5" USB HDDs - all from different manufacturers and with different capacities. I also have access to multiple Windows Vista / Windows 7 / Windows XP computers. My problem is that with the Windows Vista and Windows 7 computers, the external USB drives DO NOT spin down when I do "Safely remove hardware". Windows will tell me that I can safely remove the device, but I can see (and feel the rotations of the disk when I touch the casing) that the disks are still spinning and NEVER spin down. They also never go into their suspended state (which is generally signaled with a slow flashing of the activity LED). However, with Windows XP, when I do "Safely remove hardware", I can see that the drives do indeed spin down without any issues and go into their respective suspended states. I notice that this behaviour is consistent across all my 3 drives and on different hardware. Has anybody else noticed the same issues? Is there any way we can have the same behaviour as Windows XP on Windows Vista and 7, because I feel on the long run, disconnecting the drives while they are still spinning will have a negative effect on their life span.   • External SATA drive does not work without the optional USB cable *also* connected

    I have Vantec NST-260SU external eSATA/USB drive enclosure (which came with an optional separate power supply) connected to a relatively new Windows 7 computer. The drive should work as a SATA drive with either the separate power supply or using a USB cable solely for power. I would prefer to use the external power supply because I have used all my rear USB ports. Now, if I connect both the eSATA and USB cable, then: The drive shows in the BIOS list of AHCI drives (and not in the list of attached USB devices). Everything I can see about it in Computer Management seems to show it as a SATA driver (for example, it shows as "Location 0 (Channel 5, Target 0, Lun 0)" like my other SATA drives (and not "on USB Mass Storage Device" like my USB flash-drives). It seems very fast, very much faster than my USB flash drives. However, if I disconnect the USB cable and attach the power adapter instead, the drive does not show in the BIOS list and cannot be seen by Windows. The power LED on the enclosure is lit, and the drive enclosure becomes warm after running for a bit, so I am sure it is receiving power. Does anyone know if this device requires both the USB and eSATA cable, and if so, why? Or is there possibly something I need to do to reset the enclosure to not need the USB - the install instructions are pretty clear that you must connect the SATA cable before connecting the USB cable in order for the drive to function as SATA, which I am sure I did. PS: I have reviewed the small manual which came with it, which has not been of help.

  • Safely remove external USB drive fails due to $extend

    When connecting an external USB 3.0 hard drive to my USB 3.0 ports I can never safely remove it. Somehow windows always keeps the journal files open: "Always" as in this time I only connected the drive, copied a 10GB VM and wanted to disconnect it afterwards (like 15 minutes after copying, so all copying was done). As you can see there is no other program keeping a handle on the disk besides System. I tried restarting explorer.exe as well as RemoveDrive.exe from Uwe Sieber. No luck, the locks on the hard drive always remain. My only solution is just unplugging it (whereas I'm afraid of damaging the data?) or restarting the computer (always helps, doesn't it?). Might it have something to do with me only having a SSD hard drive and the external disk is a regular drive? Might it have something to do with the USB 3.0 drivers (NEC Electronics USB Hub)? I never have this problem when using the regular USB 2.0 ports. Any ideas on how to properly unmount the disk?

  • configure a Macbook Pro to use external monitor at boot (Debian Linux)

    In the spirit of reuse, I've installed Debian (version 6.0.5 "squeeze") on my wife’s old Macbook Pro (circa 2009 or so), to repurpose it for various tasks. The catch is the display is flaky. It will last a random amount of time, between 2 minutes and 2 hours, before freezing and graying out. This is a known issue with that generation of MBP. Fortunately it’s no problem for me, as I plan to use it with an external monitor anyway. Which brings us to the problem: How do I configure this thing to output to the external display by default, and hopefully disable the built-in LCD? The ideal solution would be to modify a setting in the EFI (BIOS), but I’m not holding out much hope for that. Next best thing would be a kernel option I can pass to the NVIDIA driver. What won’t work is a solution that doesn’t give me a display until X starts. I need to have console access, especially given that the built-in LCD is dying, and any day now might give out completely. So far I haven’t been able to find anything online. lspci says I’ve got an NVIDIA GeForce 9400M Help is much appreciated! Eric PS if this question is better suited to the Unix & Linux area, pls advise and I will move it.

  • Sudden "No Signal" in HDMI-DVI connection

    Yesterday I have connected external display Asus VW192C to my laptop Dell XPS 14-L421X via HDMI-to-DVI-D cable. And it worked perfectly fine from start. The day after, Asus screen went blank showing "No signal". Every time I connection/disconnection cable or power off/on the display it says "No signal". And I didn't change any system configurations meanwhile. To troubleshoot the problem, I have tried to connect laptop to TV (hdmi-to-hdmi) - it was fine. I've tried to connect a different laptop to the display via the same cable - worked fine as well. So its obviously something on system level, either Windows or graphics drivers. Also it seems that Windows still see the external display (I can move mouse pointer away from the main screen in Extended mode), but there's just no signal. Any ideas? What else to try? PS. My laptop has 2 graphics cards - GeForce 630M and Intel HD 4000 using NVidia Optimus technology. I have updated to latest Intel and NVidia drivers, still didn't help. PPS. Although I shouldn't have updated (from Intel support): "our Intel generic graphics drivers from the Intel website do not support using both Intel Graphics 4000 and NVidia GeForece GT630M". Nevertheless, it should not affect connectivity to additional display.

  • Internet Working, Browsing Not.

    I have a very odd problem that I can't resolve. I am connected to the internet, but my browsing doesn't work. I don't mean a web browser - I mean browsing. Firefox, Chrome, Curl all fail to successfully connect to an HTTP address. However existing connections, e.g. to mail in Outlook (Exchange Server and also IMAP server) continue to work. Also, the internet is on, I can confirm both from my machine (other ports / connections) as well as from any other computer connected to the same network. Additionally, it appears to be HTTP, not simple a port issue as HTTP over port 8443 (Tortoise SVN if you must know - running over HTTP not over SVN) also fails. I am using Windows Vista SP2 (build 6002). It seems to "creep up" in that after running the computer for a few hours it will fail. (No found way to systematically reproduce the problem.) Additionally, it seems to be more prone on days where the internet connection is flaky already (not sure why the internet is flaky, just is, lot's of failed browsing requests and have to retry/reload often). What I have tried (when the problem arises) - none have yielded any resolution: Resetting the network connection (dis-connect, re-connect) Disable/re-enable the network adapter Double-checked the ip settings Double-checked the HOSTS file. Note: DNS continues to work (both new and cached responses to DNS queries). (Thanks for the suggestion Daniel and antenore.) Checked the routing tables (ip4 only as ipv6 is beyond my understanding) resetting all involved hardware (routers and modems) Close and reopen browsers Looked for malware interference: Run HijackThis Looked for suspicious processes using SysInternals procexp. Looked for explorer hijacks, lsa provider interference, winsock provider interference using SysInternals Autoruns. Run a complete anti-virus scan. Reviewed the output of a netstat -onab to see if there were stuck ports open or unusual processes running somewhere The only thing that works is to do a full reboot. That works 100% of the time to restore browsing. What else can I try to nail down the problem?

    I have a script that connects to multiple databases (Oracle, MySQL and MSSQL), each database connection might not be used each time the script runs but all could be used in a single script execution. My question is, "Is it better to connect to all the databases once in the beginning of the script even though all the connections might not be used. Or is it better to connect to them as needed, the only catch is that I would need to have the connection call in a loop (so the database connection would be new for X amount of times in the loop). I know that persistent connection can also be resource hogs and as I'm looking for best performance/practice.

I want to use my local sql server database instead of sql express to store Roles, Membership and other data. I have used aspnet_regsql.exe to create needed data structures in my database. after that I changed my web.config to look like: <connectionStrings> <remove name="LocalSqlServer"/> <add name="LocalSqlServer" connectionString="Server=(LOCAL); Database=MyDatabase;Integrated Security=True" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" /> </connectionStrings> but when I run ASP.NET Configuration tool it says that: "The connection name 'ApplicationServices' was not found in the applications configuration or the connection string is empty." ASP.NET Configuration tool uses connection string named: ApplicationServices not LocalSqlServer. cause of that I have to modify web.config to: <connectionStrings> <add name="ApplicationServices" connectionString="Server=(LOCAL); Database=MyDatabase;Integrated Security=True" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" /> </connectionStrings> and everything works fine. I wish to know why the hell my web site uses connection string named: ApplicationServices and all books and online documentations uses LocalSqlServer? and how to change it to LocalSqlServer?   • Modem doesn't seem to pass internet connection to router

    I was supplied a Cisco DPC3825 modem by my ISP and use a Cisco E4200 as my main router. Today the Internet just stopped working, just out of the blue, I can't think of anything that would have triggered it. It's been working pretty good for the past month except for a few random blips here and there. After some trouble shooting I realized that a direct wired connection to the modem would get me Internet access but if I was wired to the router as I was before I would have no connection. Assuming it was router I connected a TP-Link WR841N but it had the exact same problem. Also, connecting to the router via Wi-Fi from multiple devices will connect me to the router but I still can't get access to the Internet. From these test, it seems that the modem just won't send Internet through to the router but is clearly connecting and able to directly connect to my PC. What I've Tried A full reset and factory reset on the E4200 A full reset on the modem (but I believe my ISP has remote access to the modem because the passwords and so on are always set back). My ISP has remotely reconfigured the modem What I Should Try What else can I try? What should I do to try to narrow down the issue? Can you figure out what the problem might be based on this information?

  • External hard drive becomes unwriteable after awhile

    I have an external USB hard drive mounted in Ubuntu 9.10 with full read/write abilities over SMB. If it stays on for awhile though, I lose the ability to write to it. I end up having to ssh in and unmount, mount, reboot in order to have write ability again. Any reason on what might be causing this and how to fix it?
