  • Allowing pop-up's and downloads with flex

    I'm building an flex app that is basically a wrapper for a few websites. One of them is a google docs website, and I'm trying to get flex to allow downloads or popups or something that will allow me to do it. I've tried a whole bunch of solutions online and none of them have worked out.   • FLEX: sequence of puppets... 3 requirements

    hi, I'm implementing this sequence of puppets in flex: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/72686/itemsSequence.png I want to show the caption when the mouse rolls over the puppet I want the user being able to click on the buttons of the caption (so the caption doesn't have to disappear when I move the mouse out from the user over the caption). I don't want the puppet component to become bigger when the caption is added (it becomes visible), because the puppets have to stay nearby each other, I cannot resize the objects. So.. I need some guidelines to do it. More precisely: 1) Should I add the components in MXML or pure actionscript ? 2) If I use MXML, should I add also the caption to the flex model, and make it invisible and then change the value with actionscript ? What's the common way to implement it ? thanks

  • Flex RGBA colors in CSS

    Hello all, I am trying to style a DataGrid component so that the background is transparent (Flex 4). Rgba colors work fine if I make "alternatingItemColors" an attribute on the component, but if I try to declare it in my css stylesheet, I cannot declare the alpha value. Works (mxml): <mx:DataGrid id="songGrid" width="800" height="529" dataProvider="{songs}" itemClick="handleRowClick(event);" x="145" y="168" headerStyleName="dataGridHeader" alternatingItemColors="[0xFFFFFFFF, 0xFFFFFFFF]"> Doesn't Work (css): mx|DataGrid { alternatingItemColors: #FFFFFFFF, #FFFFFFFF; } If I enter the values as "0xFFFFFFFF", I get a parse error, because it's not proper css (of course, most of flex's css isn't proper css, but I digress...). So, is there any way to declare the alpha value of these colors in the css?

Supposing I have an instruction like this one, in the rules part: "=" BEGIN(attribution); <attribution>{var_name} { fprintf(yyout, "="); ECHO; } <attribution>";" BEGIN(INITIAL); {var_name} is a regular expression that matches a variable's name, and all I want to do is to copy at the output all the attribution instructions, such as a = 3; or b = a; My rule though cannot write with fprintf the left member of the attribution, but only = 3; or =a; One solution for that might be that, after I make the match "=" and I am in the attribution state, to go 2 positions back as to get the left operand as well. How can I do that in Flex?

  • Connecting flex/php to Active Directory

    Is there a way to connect my flex web application to Active Directory, and get the logged username? Right now we have a PHP script connected to the flex application, that gets user/pass input from the user and checks if there's such user in the AD, and that the password is correct. I don't want to ask for user/pass, but to make the application get the domain username that connected to it, so I could use it (check if the user has access to my application and such). Is there a way to do so?

    I've created a ComboBox skin by extending mx.skins.ProgrammaticSkin. It's working fine, except I can't figure out how to limit the width of the text. Is there a way to control this within the skin? See the attached image for an example of the text going too far. I would like it to stop before the separator line to the left of the down arrow.

  • How to make sliding button sidebar in Flex

    Hi, I'm fairly new to Flex. I want to make a button (icon) on the far right in the middle of the page that display a sliding side bar with multiple buttons in it when you hover over it. I want when the user hover out of the button bar it slides back again. Conceptually I got the basics of that to work. The issue I'm having is that when the user moves the mouse between the buttons in the sidebar it kicks in changing state and side bar slides back again. I tried using different types of containers and I got the same results. Any Advice?   • Flex SDK missing fundamental things

    All of a sudden Flash Builder 4 is missing all kinds of fundamental things and is generating incorrect errors. I've had the same issue yesterday, where I fixed it by downloading a new Flex SDK and importing that into FB. I did this again, but this time it fixed nothing. I don't think it's something I did, like removing critical references from the build path. The errors also appeared on projects I was not working on at the time. It occurs for ActionScript, Flex and Flex Library projects alike. Update 3: Well, i've singled the problem down to a single piece of code, though a very simple one. I can make a new workspace in FB and things work ok, then screw the workspace up forever by adding this code to a project. All projects will have errors and closing or even removing the faulty project does not change this. Making another new workspace (without the faulty code) makes my projects compile again. It appears to be an SDK problem, not Flash Builder. In order to do this I need to find the column chart on the stage using actionscript. I've currently got 3 lines of code in here to do this: var selectedTab:NavigatorContent = this.tn.selectedChild as NavigatorContent; var colChart:ColumnChart = selectedTab.getChildByName("CC") as ColumnChart; trace(selectedTab.getChildAt(0)); Getting to the active tab in the tabnavigator is easy enough, but then selectedTab.getChildAt(0) - which I was expecting to be the chart - is a "spark.skin.spark.SkinnableContainerSkin"...anyway, I can continue to traverse the tree using this somewhat annoying code, but I'm hoping there is an easier way. So in short, at run time I want to, with as little code as possible, identify the column chart in the active tab so I can redraw it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

When I redeploy the application I was finding that modules (which are deployed as separate swf files) were being cached in the browser and the new versions weren't being loaded. So i tried the age old trick of adding ?version=xxx to all the modules when they are loaded. The value xxx is a global parameter which is actually stored in the host html page: var moduleSection:ModuleLoaderSection; moduleSection = new ModuleLoaderSection(); moduleSection.visible = false; moduleSection.moduleName = moduleName + "?version=" + MySite.masterVersion; In addition I needed to add ?version=xxx to the main .swf that was being loaded. Since this is done by HTML I had to do this by modifying my AC_OETags.js file as below : function AC_FL_RunContent(){ var ret = AC_GetArgs ( arguments, ".swf?mv=" + getMasterVersion(), "movie", "clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" , "application/x-shockwave-flash" ); AC_Generateobj(ret.objAttrs, ret.params, ret.embedAttrs); } This is all fine and works great. I just have a hard time believing that Adobe doesn't already have a way to handle this. Given that Flex is being targeted to design modular applications for business I find it especially surprising. What do other people do? I need to make sure my application reloads correctly even if someone has once per session selected for their 'browser cache checking policy'.

  • Flex HTMLLoader component not raising mouseDown events for all mouse clicks

    I have built a Air 2/Flex 4 kiosk application with Flash Builder 4. Currently I am implementing a touch screen browser to enable users to navigate company training videos. In an attempt to improve the usability of the website on the touchscreen I have placed the HTML component in an adaption of Doug McCune's DragScrollingCanvas (updated to use the flex 4 'Scroller' component) to allow users to scroll the webpage by dragging their finger across the screen. The mouseDown event is used to start scrolling the viewport. In addition the webpage was modified to disable text selection with the following css: html { -webkit-user-select: none; cursor: default; } The problem I face is that the HTMLLoader component only fires a mouseDown if a link/input/button on the webpage is clicked, not when the background or any text is clicked. In addition if I remove the custom css the mouseDown event will not fire when text is being selected, but will if previously highlighted text is clicked. As an alternative I also tried adding a group container with the same dimensions as the HTMLLoader to detect the mouseDown events (so that the group container and HTMLLoader have the same Dragable parent container) and was able to capture mouseDown events and scroll the viewport as expected. However as the mouse event is handled by the group container, I am now unable to navigate the webpage. Does anybody know why the HTMLLoader component is not raising mouseDown events for all mouse clicks?

  • Understanding Flash SWC's imported into Flex Builder 3 and key framed animation

    I am trying to understand what is going on in a SWC that I am importing from Flash CS4 into Flex Builder 3. Specifically I am using a SWC supplied by a Designer as the animation for a custom preloader (a subclassed DownloadProgressBar). The issue I am trying to understand is, once the FlexEvent.INIT_COMPLETE is fired, I cleanup by removing the swc by running this : removeChild(myPreloader); myPreloader = null; though even after I have removed this (which is successful, as I have checked by comparing this.numChildren before and after the call) the key framed animation still continues to run (not visibly). This has been detected by the Designer placing a trace in the time line of the animation (in Flash). Can anyone tell me why is it, that even after I have removed the animation from the subclassed DownloadProgressBar, it still keeps running ? Also, is it standard practice when importing SWCs to manage the cleanup of resources from the Flash side of things (much like releasing memory in obj-c). I find it counter intuitive that removing the child from the Flex side does not stop the animation. Any clues to this would be greatly appreciated.

I've tried manually adding the headers to the request, as well as using the setRemoteCredentials() method to set them, to no avail. Where I don't know the value of "StringToBind" until runtime? I already realize there are much more straightforward ways to accomplish this exact thing STATICALLY, and using only Flex. It's important for my project though that I understand how this could be accomplished using purely ActionScript.

    Tools: Air 2, Flex SDK 4.1, Flash Builder, Halo component set (NO Spark being used at all) Fonts work perfectly when running the appliction, but not in design view. This effectively makes design view WORTHLESS because it's impossible to properly position components or labels without knowing what the true size is (it changes depending on font...) ... Interestingly (or buggily?), when I try pasting the style tag into a subcomponent (lower than the top level container), I get a bunch of warnings in the subcomponent editor view stating that CSS type selectors are not supported in.. (all the components in the style sheet). Yet, they do work when the application is executed. Huh?
