    Hi I'm trying to get a PHP array to use in some jquery script using the qTip plugin. This is my array: $descqtip[ ] = array('name' => ''.$name.'', 'description' => ''.$description.''); Here is my jquery code: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { var description = <?php echo json_encode($descqtip)?>; $('#homepage_catgames h2').each(function(i){ $(this).qtip({ content: description }) }); }); </script> I know the above doesn't work, but i'm stuck on trying to get the description variable in each part of the array to their own individual tooltip.   • For-Each and Pointers in Java

    Ok, so I'm tyring to iterate through an ArrayList and remove a specefic element. However, I am having some trouble using the For-Each like structure. When I run the following code: ArrayList<String> arr = new ArrayList<String>(); //... fill with some values (doesn't really matter) for(String t : arr) { t = " some other value "; //hoping this would change the actual array } for(String t : arr) { System.out.println(t); //however, I still get the same array here } My question in, how can I make 't' a pointer to 'arr' so that I am able to change the values in a for-each loop? I know I could loop through the ArrayList using a different structure, but this one looks so clean and readable, it would just be nice to be able to make 't' a pointer. All comments are appreciated! Even if you say I should just suck it up and use a different construct.

    I want to do something different on the last KeyValuePair of the Dictionary I'm iterating on. For Each item In collection If ItsTheLastItem DoX() Else DoY() End If Next Is this possible? Edit: As Jon correctly remarks, Dictionaries are not the kind of thing that's sorted, so I should mention that I only want to do this when displaying results to the user, and it doesn't matter if later on the last item is different. In another note, I'll use my own answer but I'll accept the most upvoted one after I check back in some hours.

    I have the following jquery code that is looping through the returned json data, for some reason is it splitting the suburb by a space when being assigned as the value but not as the text, I cannot work out why this is happening. But i need the div id="page-{id}" to be invisible to begin with on pageload and then visible when its button is being hovered over. can anyone help ?

    I have a big database-like sheet, first row contains headers. I would like a subset of rows of this table based on column values. Two issues: 1) VBA-wise I would like to loop through the columns, when the values for all necessary columns all match, copy the entire row into a new sheet. 2) The subset of rows is based on a list. This should be the first column to be looped through. For example I want all rows where the value in column A is equal to one of the values in my list. Is there any possibility to autofilter strings based on a list (column) of strings? EDIT Thanks to @Doug Glancy the autofiltering works now, so I've removed my (horrible) code and issue 1 is solved.

  • PHP to make vars and values part of array

    I currently have this function to search and replace in a text file. // Input $ect = array('Visssa', 'Lisssa', 'her'); // Placeholders in the file $put = array('lname', 'fname', 'hisher'); // Replace the placeholders $oput = str_replace($put, $ct, 'tmpfile.txt'); This is not the full program but the idea is replace the values found in tmpfile.txt with the ones found in the $etc array. And it works flawlessly. But, what I need to do is get all passed vars (get/post) and then make the arrays so that the var is the value to replace and the value is the value to replace it with. So, if I sent the url http://xyz.com/?lname=tom&ogre=yes All instances of lname in the file would be replaces with tom and all instances of ogre would be replaced with yes. So somehow it just gets any/all variables passed in get/post and then the arrays showed above would cause the var to be replaced by the value in the file.

    I'm using Google Chrome for this test: Contrary to intuition, the first loop alerts "string" 3 times, while the second loop alerts "number" 3 times. numarray = [1, 2, 3]; //for-each loop for(num in numarray) alert(typeof(num)); //standard loop for(i=0; i<numarray.length; i++) alert(typeof(numarray[i])); I was expecting both loops to alert "number" 3 times. How is the first loop implemented in Javascript? In other words, if the for-each is syntactic sugar, what is its equivalent using a standard loop? Also, is there some way to iterate over an object's namespace using a standard loop? I'm looking to touch every one of some object's methods and attributes using a loop of the second kind. I'm new to Javascript and any help is highly appreciated, thanks.

  • In Python, is it better to use list comprehensions or for-each loops?

    Which of the following is better to use and why? Method 1: for k, v in os.environ.items() print "%s=%s" % (k, v) Method 2: print "\n".join(["%s=%s" % (k, v) for k,v in os.environ.items()]) I tend to lead towards the first as more understandable, but that might just be because I'm new to Python and list comprehensions are still somewhat foreign to me. Is the second way considered more Pythonic? I'm assuming there's no performance difference, but I may be wrong. What would be the advantages and disadvantages of these 2 techniques?   • Parallel.Foreach loop creating multiple db connections throws connection errors?

    Login failed. The login is from an untrusted domain and cannot be used with Windows authentication I wanted to get my code running in parallel, so I changed my foreach loop to a parallel foreach loop. It seemed simple enough. Each loop connects to the database, looks up some stuff, performs some logic, adds some stuff, closes the connection. But I get the above error? I'm using my local sql server and entity framework (each loop uses it's own context). Is there some problem with connecting multiple times using the same local login or something? How did I get around this? I have (before trying to covert to a parallel.foreach loop) split my list of objects that I am foreach looping through into four groups (separate csv files) and run four concurrent instances of my program (which ran faster overall than just one, thus the idea for parallel). So it seems connecting to the db shouldn't be a problem? Any ideas?     When I write code in Visual Studio, ReSharper (God bless it!) often suggests me to change my old-school for loop in the more compact foreach form. And often, when I accept this change, ReSharper goes a step forward, and suggests me to change it again, in a shiny LINQ form. So, I wonder: are there some real advantages, in these improvements? In pretty simple code execution, I cannot see any speed boost (obviously), but I can see the code becoming less and less readable... So I wonder: is it worth it?
