  • F# static member

    - by HeMan
I was working through the PDC 2008 F# videos and seem to run into a problem type StockAnalyzer (lprices, days) = let prices = lprices | Seq.map snd | Seq.take days static member GetAnalyzers(tickers, days) = tickers | Seq.map loadPrices | Seq.map (fun prices - new StockAnalyzer(prices, days)) member s.Return = let lastPrice = prices |> Seq.nth 0 let startPrice = prices |> Seq.nth (days - 1) lastPrice / startPrice - 1. I am getting an error at the static. GetStockPrices.fs(31,6): error FS0010: Unexpected keyword 'static' in binding. Expected incomplete structured construct at or before this point or other token. Does anyone know if they have changed the syntax or can spot what I am doing wrong

  • STL Static-Const Member Definitions

    - by javery
How does the following work? #include <limits> int main() { const int* const foo = &std::numeric_limits<int> ::digits; } I was under the impression that in order to take an address of a static const-ant member we had to physically define it in some translation unit in order to please the linker. That said, after looking at the preprocessed code for this TU, I couldn't find an external definition for the digits member (or any other relevant members). I tested this on two compilers (VC++ 10 and g++ 4.2.4) and got identical results (i.e., it works). Does the linker auto-magically link against an object file where this stuff is defined, or am I missing something obvious here?

  • What effect does static const have on a namespace member

    - by user144182
namespace MyNamespace { static const double GasConstant = 1.987; Class MyClass { // constructors, methods, etc. }; }; I previously had GasConstant declared within the MyClass declaration (and had a separate definition in the source file since C++ does not support const initialization of non-integral types). I however need to access it from other files and also logically it seems like it should reside at the namespace level. My questions is, what effect does static const have in this case? Clearly const means I can't assign a new value to GasConstant, but what does a static member at the namespace mean. Is this similar to filescope static effect, where the member is not accessible outside of the unit?

  • inline and member initializers

    - by Alexander
    When should I inline a member function and when should I use member initializers? My code is below.. I would like to modify it so I could make use some inline when appropriate and member initializers: #include "Books.h" Book::Book(){ nm = (char*)""; thck = 0; wght = 0; } Book::Book(const char *name, int thickness, int weight){ nm = strdup(name); thck = thickness; wght = weight; } Book::~Book(){ } const char* Book::name(){ return nm; } int Book::thickness(){ return thck; } int Book::weight(){ return wght; } // // Prints information about the book using this format: // "%s (%d mm, %d dg)\n" // void Book::print(){ printf("%s (%d mm, %d dg)\n", nm, thck, wght); } Bookcase::Bookcase(int id){ my_id = id; no_shelf = 0; } int Bookcase::id(){ return my_id; } Bookcase::~Bookcase(){ for (int i = 0; i < no_shelf; i++) delete my_shelf[i]; } bool Bookcase::addShelf(int width, int capacity){ if(no_shelf == 10) return false; else{ my_shelf[no_shelf] = new Shelf(width, capacity); no_shelf++; return true; } } bool Bookcase::add(Book *bp){ int index = -1; int temp_space = -1; for (int i = 0; i < no_shelf; i++){ if (bp->weight() + my_shelf[i]->curCapacity() <= my_shelf[i]->capacity()){ if (bp->thickness() + my_shelf[i]->curWidth() <= my_shelf[i]->width() && temp_space < (my_shelf[i]->width() - my_shelf[i]->curWidth())){ temp_space = (my_shelf[i]->width()- my_shelf[i]->curWidth()); index = i; } } } if (index != -1){ my_shelf[index]->add(bp); return true; }else return false; } void Bookcase::print(){ printf("Bookcase #%d\n", my_id); for (int i = 0; i < no_shelf; i++){ printf("--- Shelf (%d mm, %d dg) ---\n", my_shelf[i]->width(), my_shelf[i]->capacity()); my_shelf[i]->print(); } }

  • STL member variable initalization issue with windows API

    - by Django
I am creating a windows app that uses a vector of stings as a member variable. For some reason, I can compile but when it tries to get at any of the vectors members is crashes. the error is 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0xcdcdcdd9. in the member function of the vector class. this is the size() function where it breaks. size_type capacity() const { // return current length of allocated storage return (this->_Myend - this->_Myfirst); } I am using visual studios 2010. thank you Django

  • Can C/C++ compiler report struct member offset

    - by Chen Jun
Hello, everyone. I'd like to ask, can compiler(e.g. Visual C++) generate a report(.txt) telling struct member offset for a struct/all structs? If so, it helps debugging quite a lot. For example, when you read disassembler code in the debugger, it can be easier to associate an offset value to a struct member. Also, it is better to have compiler report offset of each local variable on a function stack frame(e.g. the offset relative to ebp on an X86 machine). Thank you in advance.

  • Problem with default member functions of class in C++ (constructor, destructor, operator=, copy cons

    - by Narek
We know that compiler generates some member functions for user-defined class if that member functions are not defined but used, isn't it. So I have this kind of code: class AA { }; void main() { AA a; AA b(a); a = b; } This code works fine. I mean no compiler error. But the following code.... class AA { int member1; int member2; }; But this code gives an run time error, because variable "a" is used without being iniltialized!!! So my question is this: when we instantiate an int, it has a value. So why the default constructer doesn't work and by using those two int numbers initializes variable "a"??

  • How to pass a member function to a function used in another member function?

    - by Tommaso Ferrari
I found something about my problem, but I don't already understand very well. I need to do something like this: class T{ double a; public: double b; void setT(double par){ a=par; }; double funct(double par1) { return par1/a; } void exec(){ b=extfunct(funct, 10); } } double extfunct(double (*f)(double),double par2){ return f(par2)+5; } Operation and function are only for example, but the structure is that. The reason of this structure is that I have a precostituited class which finds the minimum of a gived function (it's extfunct in the example). So I have to use it on a function member of a class. I understood the difference between pointer to function and pointer to member function, but I don't understand how to write it. Thanks, and sorry for the poor explanation of the problem.

  • Const Functions and Interfaces in C++

    - by 58gh1z
I'll use the following (trivial) interface as an example: struct IObject { virtual ~IObject() {} virtual std::string GetName() const = 0; virtual void ChangeState() = 0; }; Logic dictates that GetName should be a const member function while ChangeState shouldn't. All code that I've seen so far doesn't follow this logic, though. That is, GetName in the example above wouldn't be marked as a const member function. Is this laziness/carelessness or is there a legitimate reason for this? What are the major cons of me forcing my clients to implement const member functions when they are logically called for?

  • C# WCF - Failed to invoke the service.

    - by Keith Barrows
I am getting the following error when trying to use the WCF Test Client to hit my new web service. What is weird is every once in awhile it will execute once then start popping this error. Failed to invoke the service. Possible causes: The service is offline or inaccessible; the client-side configuration does not match the proxy; the existing proxy is invalid. Refer to the stack trace for more detail. You can try to recover by starting a new proxy, restoring to default configuration, or refreshing the service. My code (interface): [ServiceContract(Namespace = "http://rivworks.com/Services/2010/04/19")] public interface ISync { [OperationContract] bool Execute(long ClientID); } My code (class): public class Sync : ISync { #region ISync Members bool ISync.Execute(long ClientID) { return model.Product(ClientID); } #endregion } My config (EDIT - posted entire serviceModel section): <system.serviceModel> <diagnostics performanceCounters="Default"> <messageLogging logMalformedMessages="true" logMessagesAtServiceLevel="true" logMessagesAtTransportLevel="true" /> </diagnostics> <serviceHostingEnvironment aspNetCompatibilityEnabled="false" /> <behaviors> <endpointBehaviors> <behavior name="JsonpServiceBehavior"> <webHttp /> </behavior> </endpointBehaviors> <serviceBehaviors> <behavior name="SimpleServiceBehavior"> <serviceMetadata httpGetEnabled="True" policyVersion="Policy15"/> </behavior> <behavior name="RivWorks.Web.Service.ServiceBehavior"> <!-- To avoid disclosing metadata information, set the value below to false and remove the metadata endpoint above before deployment --> <serviceMetadata httpGetEnabled="true"/> <!-- To receive exception details in faults for debugging purposes, set the value below to true. • .NET Programmatically invoke screenclick doesn't work?

    - by ropstah
I'm trying to programmatically invoke an onclick event however the click is not received/handled. Am I missing something, or is security preventing the click to be executed? I have a forms application which is invisible. Basically I would like to say: DoDoubleClick(wait, x, y) This should raise two click (mousedown+mouseup) events on screen with the specified wait interval. • Can't access a map member from a pointer

    - by fjfnaranjo
Hi. That's my first question :) I'm storing the configuration of my program in a Group->Key->Value form, like the old INIs. I'm storing the information in a pair of structures. First one, I'm using a std::map with string+ptr for the groups info (the group name in the string key). The second std::map value is a pointer to the sencond structure, a std::list of std::maps, with the finish Key->Value pairs. The Key-Value pairs structure is created dynamically, so the config structure is: std::map< std::string , std::list< std::map<std::string,std::string> >* > lv1; Well, I'm trying to implement two methods to check the existence of data in the internal config. The first one, check the existence of a group in the structure: bool isConfigLv1(std::string); bool ConfigManager::isConfigLv1(std::string s) { return !(lv1.find(s)==lv1.end()); } The second method, is making me crazy... It check the existence for a key inside a group. bool isConfigLv2(std::string,std::string); bool ConfigManager::isConfigLv2(std::string s,std::string d) { if(!isConfigLv1(s)) return false; std::map< std::string , std::list< std::map<std::string,std::string> >* >::iterator it; std::list< std::map<std::string,std::string> >* keyValue; std::list< std::map<std::string,std::string> >::iterator keyValueIt; it = lv1.find(s); keyValue = (*it).second; for ( keyValueIt = keyValue->begin() ; keyValueIt != keyValue->end() ; keyValueIt++ ) if(!((*keyValueIt).second.find(d)==(*keyValueIt).second.end())) return true; return false; } I don't understand what is wrong. The compiler says: ConfigManager.cpp||In member function ‘bool ConfigManager::isConfigLv2(std::string, std::string)’:| ConfigManager.cpp|(line over return true)|error: ‘class std::map<std::basic_string<char, std::char_traits<char>, std::allocator<char> >, std::basic_string<char, std::char_traits<char>, std::allocator<char> >, std::less<std::basic_string<char, std::char_traits<char>, std::allocator<char> > >, std::allocator<std::pair<const std::basic_string<char, std::char_traits<char>, std::allocator<char> >, std::basic_string<char, std::char_traits<char>, std::allocator<char> > > > >’ has no member named ‘second’| But it has to have the second member, because it's a map iterator... Any suggestion about what's happening? Sorry for my English :P, and consider I'm doing it as a exercise, I know there are a lot of cool configuration managers.

  • Generating a Call Hierarchy for dynamicly invoked method

    - by Maxim Veksler
Hello, Today's world of dynamic invoke, reflection and runtime injection just doesn't play well with traditional tools such as ctags, doxygen and CDOC. I am searching for a method call hierarchy visualization tool that can display both static and dynamic method invocations. It should be easy to use, light during execution and provide helpful detailed information about the recorded runtime session. Now I guess Callgrind could be considered a valid solution for the family C. What tool / technique could you suggest to create a call graph for both static and dynamic method invocation for JVM based bytecode? The intended end result is a graphical display (preferably interactive) which can show path from main() to each method that was invoked. During research for this post I stumbled upon javashot, it seems that this is the kind of approach I'm aiming at, I would prefer that this would be integrated into a kind of profiler or alike which than can be used from within my IDE (Eclipse, IntelliJ, Netbeans and alike). Thank you, Maxim.

  • What's wrong with my cross-thread call in Windows Forms?

    - by MainMa
Hi, I encounter a problem with a Windows Forms application. A form must be displayed from another thread. So in the form class, I have the following code: private delegate void DisplayDialogCallback(); public void DisplayDialog() { if (this.InvokeRequired) { this.Invoke(new DisplayDialogCallback(DisplayDialog)); } else { this.ShowDialog(); } } Now, every time I run this, an InvalidOperationException is thrown on the line this.ShowDialog();: "Cross-thread operation not valid: Control 'SampleForm' accessed from a thread other than the thread it was created on." What's wrong with this piece of code? Isn't it a valid way to make cross-thread calls? Is there something special with ShowDialog()?

  • How to access a field's value via reflection (Scala 2.8)

    - by soc
Consider the following code: class Foo(var name: String = "bar") Now i try to get the value and the correct type of it via reflection: val foo = new Foo val field = foo.getDeclaredField("name") field.setAccessible(true) //This is where it doesn't work val value = field.get(????) I tried things like field.get(foo), but that just returns an java.lang.Object but no String. Basically I need the correct type, because I want to invoke a method on it (e. g. toCharArray). What is the suggested way to do that?

  • c++ protected pointer member to the same class and access privileges

    - by aajmakin
    Hi, Example code is included at the bottom of the message. I'm puzzled about the protected access specifier in a class. I have define a class node which has a protected string member name string name; and a vector of node pointers vector args; Before I thought that a member function of node could not do args[0]-name but a program that does just this does compile and run. However, now I would like to inherit this class and access the name field in one of the args array pointers from this derived class args[0]-name but this does not compile. When I compile the example code below with the commented sections uncommented, the compiler reports: Compiler output: g++ test.cc -o test test.cc: In member function 'void foo::newnode::print_args2()': test.cc:22: error: 'std::string foo::node::name' is protected test.cc:61: error: within this context Compilation exited abnormally with code 1 at Thu Jun 17 12:40:12 Questions: Why can I access the name field of the node pointers in args in class node, because this is what I would excpect from a similarly defined private field in Java. How can I access those fields from the derived class. Example code: #include <iostream> #include <vector> using namespace std; namespace foo { class node; typedef std::vector<node*> nodes; class node { public: node (string _name); void print_args (); void add_node (node* a); protected: nodes args; string name; }; } foo::node::node (string _name) : args(0) { name = _name; } void foo::node::add_node (node* a) { args.push_back(a); } void foo::node::print_args () { for (int i = 0; i < args.size(); i++) { cout << "node " << i << ": " << args[i]->name << endl; } } // namespace foo // { // class newnode : public node // { // public: // newnode (string _name) : node(_name) {} // void print_args2 (); // protected: // }; // } // void foo::newnode::print_args2 () // { // for (int i = 0; i < args.size(); i++) // { // cout << "node " << i << ": " << args[i]->name << endl; // } // } int main (int argc, char** argv) { foo::node a ("a"); foo::node b ("b"); foo::node c ("c"); a.add_node (&b); a.add_node (&c); a.print_args (); // foo::newnode newa ("newa"); // foo::newnode newb ("newb"); // foo::newnode newc ("newc"); // newa.add_node (&newb); // newa.add_node (&newc); // newa.print_args2 (); return 0; }

  • New form on a different thread

    - by Dan
So I have a thread in my application, which purpose is to listen to messages from the server and act according to what it recieves. I ran into a problem when I wanted to fire off a message from the server, that when the client app recieves it, the client app would open up a new form. However this new form just freezes instantly. I think what's happening is that the new form is loaded up on the same thread as the thread listening to the server, which of course is busy listening on the stream, in turn blocking the thread. Normally, for my other functions in the clients listening thread, I'd use invokes to update the UI of the main form, so I guess what I'm asking for is if here's a way to invoke a new form on the main form.

  • /dev/fuse "permission denied" even when member of fuse group

    - by steeef
I have a backup script scheduled on a Debian 5.0 x86 server, via sshfs. However, when I attempt to mount the remote directory, I receive: failed to open /dev/fuse: Permission denied ls -l /dev/fuse returns: crwxrwxr-x 1 root fuse 10, 229 2010-11-12 09:08 /dev/fuse id backup returns: uid=501(backup) gid=501(backup) groups=501(backup),46(plugdev),108(fuse) The only way I can get the directory to mount is if I run chmod a+w /dev/fuse, but this is reset at some point during the day. It's a kludge though, and I'd rather figure out why the group permissions aren't working.

  • Prevent member of administrator group loging in via Remote Desktop

    - by Chris J
In order to support some build processes on our Server 2003 development servers, we require a common user account that has administrative privs. Unfortuantly, this also means that anyone that knows the password can also gain admin privs on a server. Assume that trying to keep the password secret is a failed exercise. Developers that need admin privs already have admin privs so should be able to log in as themselves. So the question is a simple one: is there anything I can configure to prevent people (ab)using the account to gain administrator on servers they shouldn't have administrator on? I'm aware that devs could disable anything that is put in place, but that's then down to process and auditing to track and manage. I don't mind where or how: it can be via the local security policy, group policy, a batch file executed in the user's profile, or something else.

  • Distro List - can a member be blind copied?

    - by Jessie
Is it possible to set up a distro list on an exchange server to send a blind copy to one of the recipients? For example: I'd like to have a distro go to Help, Support, and IT. However, I don't want the sender to know it goes to Help if they expand the distro in the To: field. I know this is most likely impossible, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.
