  • Cannot delete movie on iTunes for iPhone 4?

    I was on vacation and took some videos, and now the iPhone 4 memory is near full. So I tried to delete other experimental movies I made using Handbrake, so that I can take more video or photos, but if I plug the iPhone 4 into my Notebook computer, I can seem to delete it on iTunes? Maybe because the computer I sync with the iPhone 4 is at home (a desktop), but not with me on vacation. I can't delete it on iTunes, can't delete it on iPhone itself. I am stuck during the vacation, or is there a way to handle it?

  • How to shut down the computer without the update on Windows 7?

    Sometimes when my Win 7 machine has programs that crashed, maybe Firefox, or IE, I would like to shut down the computer without installing any Windows update. That's because I worry that if IE or Firefox crashed, the system is not in a very stable state, so I would rather install the update later. But it seems I only have 2 choices: 1) Shut Down and it always will do any Update 2) Restart, and no update is done (these are 2 choices among the shut down / log off option) So is there a way to Shut Down without doing the Update? Or must I restart first, and then do the Updates, and then Shut Down?

  • Any method to resize my app's window on Mac (macbook) to 1600 x 1200 or 1920 x 1200?

    I would like to make a screen capture for an app (Firefox), but I am using a macbook, so the display is at 1280 x 800. I think if I can somehow resize the window to 1920 x 1200, then I can use Command + Shift + 4 and then space bar, and then mouse click on that app to capture the whole app's window (which will be bigger than the screen) So I can resize the window horizontally to 1920 by dragging the window to the left, and then make it wider by going to the bottom-right corner of the window. But there seems to be no way to make it taller... even javascript: self.resizeTo(screen.availWidth+300,screen.availHeight+300); on the Firefox address bar (URL bar) won't work... it can make the window wider than the screen, but not taller. Is there any method at all?

  • How to solve the problem that Chrome doesn't obey "Show Window side by side" on Win7?

    If I bring out Firefox and Chrome, and right click on the task bar and choose "Show Windows side by side", Chrome will not be arranged side by side. But if it is Firefox and IE, then the 2 windows will in fact be arranged side by side. If it is Chrome showing and we press and hold "Window key" and LEFT ARROW, then in fact it does move to the left as a half size window. So Chrome partially work on Win7 for the expected behavior. Any method to make it work for the first case? thanks.

    I need to try Linux (Ubuntu) and feel hesitant to install Ubuntu on top of a Win 7 machine to dual boot (might need to use Win7 and Ubuntu at the same time). Is creating a Virtual PC on Win7, and then install the latest Ubuntu on that Virtual PC one of the better option? So I think I can create a Virtual PC with an empty virtual hard disk (vhd), say, for 30GB, and then put in the Ubuntu DVD-R or CD-R to install Ubuntu onto that empty hard disk.

    Can most Intel processors run 64-bit Windows 7? Such as all the i7, i5, Core 2 Duo, Dual Core, Single Core with HT, and even just Single Core? I think a popular view is that if you can run 64-bit Windows 7, then use it? It might have driver compatibility issue but if there is no device hooked up, then there is no problem? What about some software / games not compatible with the 64-bit version or may run slower? thanks. update: a couple of my machines have 4GB RAM. so 64-bit Win 7 can make use of the full 4GB RAM instead of only about 3.2GB

  • Are Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) at home really a worthwhile investment for home computing? [c

    Possible Duplicate: Is a UPS a good investment for a home machine? I have 2 Uninterruptible power supplies at home, but they seem to expire after 5 years or so. During this 5 years, it maybe saved the computer from turning off twice. But I wonder, I often save my documents every 10 minutes. So the most I can lose is 10 minute worth of work. Not to mention that, I may not be editing anything when the power is out. Also, when the UPS expires, one of them will give out beeping sound once in a while, probably signaling the changing of the battery. So I can either buy 2 new UPS or just buy 2 power outlets instead. 2 UPS, costing $160 to $250 roughly, can it be really worth it if it can save your computer from powering off for just 2 times? What are the alternatives?

    There's a few other posts on mapping Enums to the DB with ActiveRecord, but none of them answer my question. I have an enum called OrderState: public enum OrderState {InQueue, Ordered, Error, Cancelled} And I have the following property on the table: [Property(NotNull = true, SqlType = "orderstate", ColumnType = "DB.EnumMapper, WebSite")] public OrderState State { get { return state; } set { state = value; } } And I have the following type class: public class EnumMapper : NHibernate.Type.EnumStringType<OrderState> { public EnumMapper() { } public override NHibernate.SqlTypes.SqlType SqlType { get { return new NHibernate.SqlTypes.SqlType(DbType.Object); } } } Now this actually works the way I want, but the problem is I have tons of enums and I don't want to create a EnumMapper class for each one of them. Isn't there some way to just tell ActiveRecord to use DbType.Object for any enum? It seems to either want to be an integer or a string, but nothing else. This one's been driving me crazy for the last 2 hours.. Mike

  • Neural Network Output Grouping 0.5?

    I tried to write a Neural Network system, but even running through simple AND/OR/NOR type problems, the outputs seem to group around 0.5 (for a bias of -1) and 0.7 (for a bias of 1). It doesn't look exactly "wrong"... The 1,1 in the AND pattern does seem higher than the rest and the 0,0 in the OR looks lower, but they are still all grouped so it's debatable. I was wondering a) if there's some obvious mistake I've made or b) if there's any advice for debugging Neural Nets... seeing as you can't always track back exactly where an answer came from...   • How can I convert .eps files to .jpg in ASP.NET?

    I am trying to convert uploaded .eps files to .jpg in my ASP.net application and I am having a hard time finding a .net library that will let me do this. I have tried using the ImageMagick libraries, but I don't have root access to the server in order to install the standard binaries, or run the command line executables. I have also tried the slightly modified project from CodeProject, but it was designed in VS2005 and I have VS2008 and 2010 and I think I run into some compatibility issues while trying to compile and execute the project. Is there a simpler solution available that just works natively in .NET? Thanks, Mike

    Sorry for the long and yet still somehow vague title! A friend of mine has a Flash Action script running on a LAMP server that currently reads an xml config file. He's asked me if it's possible to remove the xml file, and replace it somehow with a system (lets call it an 'auto xml generator') that intercepts the request to read that file and generates an output, so it appears to all intents and purposes as if the file still exists and contains the contents that has actually been returned from our auto xml generator Hours of Googling has failed to come up with any promising leads, can anyone offer any advice?     Hi everyone, I'm trying to use the Visual Studio 2010 Express editions to set up an ASP.NET MVC 2 Web Application using SqlExpress + Entity Framework as the data access. I have both the "C# Edition" and "Web Developer Edition" installed. If I try to add a data source using the "C# edition", I'm missing the "Microsoft SQL Server" data source type. but Visual Studio 2008 Professional has it. as noted by another StackOverflow question, the "Web Developer Edition" has this. However, the Web Developer Edition doesn't support the Entity Framework items: . I'd want to stick with only the Express Editions. Is my use case one that Microsoft forgot about? What can I do here to use SqlExpress + MVC 2 + Entity Framework? Thanks! -Mike

  • The best way to organize WPF projects

    Hello everybody, I've started recently to develop a new software in WPF, and I still don't know which is the best way to organize the application, to be more productive with Visual Studio and Expression Blend. I noticed 2 annoying things I'd like to solve: I'm using Code Contracts in my projects, and when I run my project with Expression Blend, it launches the static analysis of the code. How can I stop that? Which configuration of the project does Blend use by default? I've tried to disable Code Contracts in a new configuration. It works in VS as the static analysis is not launched, but it has no effects in Blend. I've thinked about splitting the Windows Application in 2 parts: the first one containing the views of the WPF (app.exe) and the second one being the core of the project, with the logic code (app.core.dll), and I would just open the former project in Blend.     I'm putting together a simple test database to learn MVC with. I want to add a DateTime field to show when the record was CREATED. ID = int Name = Char DateCreated = (dateTime, DateTime2..?) I have a feeling that this type of DateTime capture can be done automatically - but that's all I have, a feeling. Can it be done? And if so how? While we're on the subject: if I wanted to include another field that captured the DateTime of when the record was LAST UPDATED how would I do that. I'm hoping to not do this manually.   • Using CGContext to display a sprite sheet iPhone

    Hello, So I have a spritesheet in png format, and have already worked out the coordinates for what I want to display. I'm trying to create a method that will return a UIImage when passed the location information on the spritesheet. I'm just not sure how to use the CGContext stuff along with the the coordinates to return an UIImage. I was looking to CGContextClipToRect because I think that is the way to do it, but I just can't seem to get it to work. Something like this CGSize size = CGSizeMake(xSize, ySize); UIGraphicsBeginImageContext(size); //CGContextClipToRect(spriteSheet.size, imageRect); [spriteSheet drawAtPoint:CGPointMake(xPos, yPos)]; UIImage *newImage = UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext(); UIGraphicsEndImageContext(); return scaledImage; returns only what is in the size Context. Of course I could do: <img src='<?php echo $full_path; ?>/images/theImg.jpg' alt='alternative text' /> But somewhere I saw people doing it like this, or something: <img src='{full_path}/images/theImg.jpg' /> Now do you know how the second example is possible, or is it just part of some framework and can't be used in normal document?     I need to access an SQL Server that is on a machine behind a firewall and you access this machine using an ip address like 95.95.95.33:6930 (not the real ip address) ... But, you get my point that by accessing 95.95.95.33 on port 6930, the firewall routes the requests to that particular machine ... My question is ... How do you construct a connection string to access the machine at address 95.95.95.33:6930 and then further access the SQL Server on port 1433 or maybe a different port like 8484 ??? Thanks Mike

    Hi, I am new to VBA in Excel. I'm setting up a simple macro Option Explicit Sub Macro1() Dim sheet sheet = Worksheets.Item(1) ' This line has the error End Sub On the line with the error, I get "Run-time error '438' Object doesn't support this property or method" I can use the Watch window to see that "Worksheets.Item(1)" is a valid object. I've tried changing it to "Dim sheet As Worksheet" but same result. Ok, so what am I missing? Why does this error occur? Thanks! -Mike

    I’ve just build my first Helper in MVC, it’s very basic and just displays a string where ever I use it. So it’s a .cshtml file in my App_Code folder, I think that is how it's supposed to be set up, with the following code in it, @helper DisplaySelect() { @:This text is coming from an helper class. } Now I am a wiz with helpers how do I make it do things. E.g.. say I want it to query the database and display something, I would normally do that work in my controller.
