• What's a good icon to represent a legend or a key for a diagram?

  I'm implementing a small web app widget that shows a legend/key for a diagram (or chart/map/graph/whatever), but only during mouseover of the widget. It's basically just going to be a div with a background image. What would be a good icon that communicates "I show the legend" or "I am the legend" to the unfamiliar users? I'm looking for something in the 10x10 to 20x20 pixel range. Assuming that a legend is the same thing as a key (is it?) then I could use a small icon of a key (like you'd unlock a door with) but that seems cheesy or unclear at worst. I'm not sure that's really the clearest way to do it. Is there an icon that should instantly remind users of a legend?

  Hi all I am using list component in flex & using custom itemRenderer i.e I have made a component named frameRenrer(there are two controls ImageControl and label control) where I set the image source and label text on creationComplete event.And I providing the data using dataProvider function in List component.But actually problem is that when I scroll this list only 4 items are displayed repeatedly and to check it I make a function on mouseOver of image control in this I am using Alert.show(data.label); then it shows the correct data but it is not displayed in the list.In data provider I am using ArrayCollection. What is the problem anyone????

  i have some rows of data displayed in a table and on mouse over of each row i've list two buttons inside a div element and then display it for some time. And i've associated some functions to be called on clicking the buttons that are dynamically created and displayed elements.. So what i did was i wrote a function which will create elements dynamically and place them exactly where i wanted using styles. And i wrote another function which will remove these dynamically added elements. I called them on mouseover and mouseout events of the row. now when i move mouse out the row to click the button they get disappeared bcoz of my mouseout function. So how can i proceed this? And what is the perfect method to create these kind of stuffs?

  I'm working on a map that has multiple markers on it. These markers use a custom icon, but I'd also like to add numbers on top. I've seen how this has been accomplished using older versions of the API. How can I do this in V3? *Note -- the "title" attribute creates a tooltip when you mouseover the marker, but I want something that will be layered on top of the custom image even when you're not hovering on top of it.   In the Lazy Load plugin's documentation (A jQuery plugin that loads images only when an event occurs) says: Event can be any jQuery event such as click or mouseover. You can also use your own custom events such as sporty or foobar. Default is to wait until user scrolls down and image appears on the window.   As you'll no-doubt be able to tell momentarily, I have little knowledge of the programming world. That being said, here goes.... In this scenario, there's a Java-based game that has a map of the game world oriented in an X, Y coordinate tile system. Some of the grid tiles are player cities, some are non-player locations. The game runs inside a frame in the browser, the X, Y coordinate map feature is one optional view, and the entire map is not available to view at any one time. Each grid tile has an "Onclick" event and an "Onmouseover" event. The mouseover event is a tooltip, the click event is something called a "modal" that has information specific to that tile. What I'd like to find out is: How can I poll all the grid tiles' "modal" information using some kind of script or other auto-running polling feature?

• How to change TextView background color when touching in and out of view?

  This has to be a very simple fix, but I can't seem to figure it out. I have got my program to change the background color to change onClick, and onTouch with ACTION_DOWN and ACTION_UP. But I need it to change the color when touching the screen and going in and out of the TextView. I need it to function like a mouseOver/mouseOut event. Is there a way to do this on android? Or am I stuck with onTouch, where the action has to start from within the TextView? Right now I set the onTouch Listener on the textview itself. Should I set it somewhere else and then check if the x and y are within the Textview? Or is there another event listener I should be using? I am new to Android, any help would be appreciated. Thanks.   I'm trying to create a templated silverlight control that has a simple animation (swap a few color properties). An example would be a control that is similar to the 'questions' menu item in stackoverflow. So the consumer of the control can specify the background color and the background color for the mouseover event. I've run into the issue that I can't use template binding for a storyboard animation (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1336689/is-it-possible-to-use-templatebinding-in-a-storyboard-in-silverlight).   as a user requirement I have to disable the backspace button from navigating back in the history. I cannot bind the input types as exceptions because the content editor in sharepoint allows to modify the text in div or paragraph elements etc. The solution is not working in IE8 because the event.target returns the element that is on mouseover when there's no controls that has the focus.   I am working on a project similar to a table where the user will be able to add rows. Right now there is just one row type available but I would like to give the user the ability to select from a list without changing the layout of the page. So, I put together a menu that appears on mouseover of the 'add row' link and disappears on mouseout (with a slight delay and fade in/out) using mootools event listeners. It looks like: I am now trying to figure out an easy way to make it so that the list stays available when the user's mouse leaves the 'add a row' link to go to select an item from the list. I looked through various mootools add-ons and tutorial but didn't find anything all that helpful. Does anyone know of a good tutorial guide me through this or can otherwise point me in the right direction here?

  I am attempting to design and build a website for my friends band. There is minimal content to be included such as bio,news,enbemdded Audio/Visual material. My web dev expertise is average. I'm basicaly looking for inspiration, I was edging towards embedding a silverlight deepzoom xap object to add some visual stimulation, perhaps by featuring a high res photo of the bandshardware/equipment which zooms when mouseover occurs. Does anyone have any cool ideas for a central feature for this site, and which way to approact it in terms of technique (js,css,silverlight etc) If anyone has any immediate ideas which they think would be cool then I am eager to hear them! Also if anyone can link me to any cool band sites they have come across recently I would be greatful,nothing too complicated though please I will be doing all the work myself.   I have a number of very poor-quality pdf documents that look like 80's photocopies, which I'm rebuilding in Flash (Flex Builder 3 MXML application), representing paragraphs of text in TextAreas so that selected portions can be bold or italic, or whatever I need. I need a way to apply toolTips or event listeners to individual words within the block of text to link those words to a glossary. I'm perfectly happy to create a definition panel that is populated and made visible with a mouseOver, but don't know how to do it to just a portion of the text. Is there a good / clean / easy way to do this?

  I have an application creating a bunch of divs through a loop. Each div has the class "product" so it looks like <div class="product"> !.....stuff here ....! <div class="show_on_hover">...buttons here... </div> </div> so there are about 12 of these same divs per page. I would like to hover over a specific one and show the specific "show_on_hover" div which is initially set to display:none. $('.product').hover(function() { $(.show_on_hover).show(); }, function () { $(.show_on_hover).hide(); } ); That is what I have so far but it will show ALL of the .show_on_hovers on the page so I am wondering how to get only the specific one you have moused over to show. This effect is seen on youtube when you mouseover any of the comments, and some comment tools pop up. Thanks!

  I've got an SSIS project where I am constructing an SQL command based on some variables. I'm constructing the command in a script task, and want to output the constructed SQL to the 'Execution Results' window. I am trying to do this using a FireInformation line from inside my script as follows: Dts.Events.FireInformation(99, "test", "Make this event appear!", "", 0, true); However, in the script editor when editing ScriptMain.cs, that line is underlined in red, and on mouseover, I get the following message: Error: The best overloaded method match for 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Tasks.ScriptTask.EventsObjectWrapper.FireInformation(int, string, string, string, int, ref bool') has some invalid arguments As a result, my script does not compile and I cannot execute it. Any idea what I'm doing wrong here, or what I need to change to be able to see the values of my variables at this point in the Execution output?

• How to control the state of the buttons to be in present based on an event happened in a Silverlight app?

  I am trying to avoid building two buttons when I really need one. In my Silverlight app scenarios, I have few grids with a different content and buttons that control the visibility of these grids. I need to be able to show a different visual for a button when its content grid is visible. I can control states such as MouseOver and Pressed and more with visual state manage. However, I am not sure how to achieve this functionality with. I also can place an image on top of the button and switch the visibility of both but it is not perfect for what I need. I am wondering if there is any way to achieve this behavior. Any ideas are highly appreciated!

  I am trying to use the jQuery dialog UI library in order to position a dialog next to some text when it is hovered over. The jQuery dialog takes a position parameter which is measured from the top left corner of the current viewport (in other words, [0, 0] will always put it in the upper left hand corner of your browser window, regardless of where you are currently scrolled to). However, the only way I know to retrieve the location is of the element relative to the ENTIRE page. The following is what I have currently. position.top is calculated to be something like 1200 or so, which puts the dialog well below the rest of the content on the page. $(".mytext").mouseover(function() { position = $(this).position(); $("#dialog").dialog('option', 'position', [position.top, position.left]); } How can I find the correct position?   Hi, I'm looking at the buttons used on twitter's home page, specifically the big orange 'signup' button. I see it is defined like this: <p id="signup-btn"> <a id="signup_submit" href="/signup"> <span>Sign Up</span> </a> </p> are they just using css to give the orange button appearance (which may just be a jpg), and also using css to specify the roll-over appearance (another jpg), and finally a third state for mouse-click (another jpg) to give the impression of a real clickable button? If that's how it works, what should I look for to do the same thing?
