  • No password is complex enough

    I have one user in my AD domain who seems to not be able to self-select a password. I may have another one, but they're on a different enough password-expiration schedule that I can't remember who it is right now. I can set a password via ADU&C just fine, but when he tries it via C-A-D he gets the "doesn't meet complexity" message. Figuring he was just doing something like 'pAssword32', I did some troubleshooting of my own and sure enough it doesn't want to take a password that way. He's one of our users that habitually uses a local account and then maps drives using his AD credentials so he doesn't get the your password will expire in 4 days, maybe you should change it prompts, so he's a frequent "my password expired, can you fix it" flyer. I don't want to keep having him set it via ADU&C over my shoulder every N days. I'm just fine setting temp passwords of 48 characters of keyboard-slamming and letting him change it something memorable. My environment is at the Windows 2008 R2 functional level, and I am using fine-grained password policies. In fact, I have two such policies: For normal users (minimum length, remembered passwords) For special utility accounts The password complexities I've tried match both policies for length and char-set selection. The permissions on the User object themselves look normal, SELF does indeed have the "Change Password" right. Is there some other place I should be looking for things that can affect this?

  • Getting access to physical drives in ESXi v5.5 installation on Dell PowerEdge R710 with PERC 6/i

    I've acquired a Dell PowerEdge R710 server a few days ago, which includes a PERC 6/i RAID controller. The server is now fitted with a SATA SSD, one SAS drive and four SATA HDD's, all of which I would like to be passed through to ESXi in an "as-is" state, without creating any logical drives in the RAID controller. Now, the ESXi v5.5 installation image I grabbed from the Dell homepage starts just fine but only lists the logical drives and connected flash drives as possible installation targets, not any of the physical drives. If I create a small logical drive on my SSD (which the PERC 6/i detects as SATA-SSD type), the ESXi install wizard lists the SSD value on that drive as false; which is far from optimal. I have also tried disabling the RAID controller entirely in the setup, but that also did not help. Everything that should enable passthrough is enabled in BIOS, but that shouldn't be a concern at this early stage of the ESXi installation. How would I be able to install ESXi v5.5 to a part of my SSD that is connected to the storage controller, while giving it entire physical access to the disk (to allow for SMART values to be read etc.)?

  • Body CSS Gradient that Stops and Continues as Solid Color

    Something similar to this question has been asked here - HTML/CSS Gradient that stops at a perticular height and continues further with a solid color, but as far as I can see this doesn't work when using it on the body for a background color - which is what I want to achieve. Specifically, I would like it to be light blue at the top of the page, gradient into dark blue 200px further down, and then continue in dark blue for ever. Thanks to anybody who can help, Alfo.

This should work here because I specify the same color as I used for drawing the first circle. But the result is that the red circle is not drawn at all. When I use a tolerance value of 255 instead then it works (red circle is drawn where it collides with the blue one) but that sounds wrong because with such a high tolerance I think it should draw the circle EVERYWHERE. So what's wrong here? API Documentation? Android? Me?

I'm looking for everything between the string "abc" and the string "cde" in a long list of data. Can I use grep or agrep and if so, what is the format?

  • How do I securely share my server?

    I have a large dedicated server running Debian and I want to share it with about 6 friends of mine. I know I can simply just use adduser to create user accounts for them, but I want to know if they can, even as a regular user without root permissions, do anything malicious. I know by default they have read permissions for other users in the /home, and can solve that with chmod, but I just want to make sure that there's nothing else they can do. And also, is there any kind of script or program that makes it easier to create and manage shell users on a server?

  • SEO - Does google+other search engines index links within <noscript> tags?

    I have setup some dropdown menus allowing users to find pages on my website by selecting options across multiple dropdowns: eg. Color of Car, Year This would generate a link like: mysite.xyz/blue/2010/ The only problem is, because this link is dynamically assembled with Javascript, I've also had to assemble each possible combination from the dropdowns into a list like: <noscript> No javascript enabled? Here are all the links: <a href='mysite.xyz/blue/2009/'>mysite.xyz/blue/2009/</a> <a href='mysite.xyz/blue/2010/'>mysite.xyz/blue/2010/</a> <a href='mysite.xyz/red/2009/'>mysite.xyz/red/2009/</a> <a href='mysite.xyz/red/2010/'>mysite.xyz/red/2010/</a> </noscript> My question is, if I put these in a tag like this, will I be penalized or anything by search engines such as Google? I want to provide them here, moreso so that google can actually index my pages - but for those without javascript, they can still navigate too. Your thoughts? Also.. even though I have some links that appear to have been indexed, I AM NOT 100% SURE, which is why I'm asking :P

The first time you hit the Show the div button, it works. Also, the Hide the div works. Then when I click to show the div again, it appears to the right of where it is supposed to be! Why is this?!?     We have a RoR app (rails version 3.2.15 right now). As it has been getting busier, the log-files it's producing are becoming less and less useful for troubleshooting.     I have a squid proxy running on 192.168.1.2 on port 3000. with Squid i am able to connect to internet and browse websites but skype is not connecting even after i specified proxy server in it. In the skype configuration i mentioned it to use SOCKS5 through host 192.168.1.2 and port 3000.     Let's say I have a simple ASP.NET MVC site with two views. The views use the following routes: /Foo and /Foo/Bar. Now let's say I want to use the URL to specify (just for the sake of example) the background color of the site. I want my routes to be, for instance, /Blue/Foo or /Green/Foo/Bar. Also, if I call Html.ActionLink from a view, I want the Blue or Green value to propagate. So, e.g., if I call Html.ActionLink("Bar", "Foo") from /Blue/Foo, I want /Blue/Foo/Bar to come back. How best can I do this? (Forgive me if I'm missing an existing post. This is hard for me to articulate concisely, so I'm not quite sure what to search for.)

Question: why is the blue cube displayed while the green blue is in front of it. I want the green cube is displayed in front of the blue cube (like so the red cube is displayed in front of all).     Hello, I am trying to figure out the SQL for doing some relatively simple operations on sets of records in a table but I am stuck. Consider a table with multiple rows per item, all identified by a common key. For example: serial model color XX1 A blue XX2 A blue XX3 A green XX5 B red XX6 B blue XX1 B blue What I would for example want to do is: Assuming that all model A rows must have the same color, find the rows which dont. (for example, XX3 is green). Assuming that a given serial number can only point to a single type of model, find out the rows which that does not occur (for example XX1 points both to A and B) These are all simple logically things to do. To abstract it, I want to know how to group things by using a single key (or combination of keys) and then compare the values of those records. Should I use a join on the same table? should i use some sort of array or similar? thanks for your help

As much as altruism is appreciable, I wonder whether it "counts" as an activity which can be shown and is valued in job applications. If the company is worth your time and working power, which it should be in my honest opinion. So I wonder whether there is something like a common practice in open source projects for this matters.     Hello I have an application which uses a servlet to read an intialization parameter from web.xml for the location of a property file. The serlvet then creates an instance of a class which stores the location of the file for other programs to read as required. This class has appropriate get and set methods. But my question concerns access to the properties: should the physical property file be read by each program as at runtime or should the properties be stored in memory instead? The properties are not currently altered at runtime but this could change? I've seen various alternative approaches but am not sure which is best. Thanks Mr Morgan

    Hello Does anyone know a better way of getting the number of rows in a Java resultset returned from a MySQL database?
