    - by TATWORTH
The next patch Tuesday ( the second Tuesday of the month) is expcted to be big. Since several of the issues being fixed are already being exploited, the patches should be applied sooner rather than later. http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/Bulletin/MS11-feb.mspx http://news.cnet.com/8301-1009_3-20030613-83.html?tag=mncol;title http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9208038/Microsoft_to_patch_22_bugs_3_zero_days_next_week?taxonomyId=17

  • wxpython: adding panel to wx.Frame disables/conflicts with wx.Frame's OnPaint?!

    - by sdaau
Hi all, I just encountered this strange situation: I found an example, where wx.Frame's OnPaint is overridden, and a circle is drawn. Funnily, as soon as I add even a single panel to the frame, the circle is not drawn anymore - in fact, OnPaint is not called at all anymore ! Can anyone explain me if this is the expected behavior, and how to correctly handle a wx.Frame's OnPaint, if the wx.Frame has child panels ? Small code example is below.. Thanks in advance for any answers, Cheers! The code: #!/usr/bin/env python # http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/programming-9/wxwidgets-wxpython-drawing-problems-with-onpaint-event-703946/ import wx class MainWindow(wx.Frame): def __init__(self, parent, title, size=wx.DefaultSize): wx.Frame.__init__(self, parent, wx.ID_ANY, title, wx.DefaultPosition, size) self.circles = list() self.displaceX = 30 self.displaceY = 30 circlePos = (self.displaceX, self.displaceY) self.circles.append(circlePos) ## uncommenting either only first, or both of ## the commands below, causes OnPaint *not* to be called anymore! #~ self.panel = wx.Panel(self, wx.ID_ANY) #~ self.mpanelA = wx.Panel(self.panel, -1, size=(200,50)) self.Bind(wx.EVT_PAINT, self.OnPaint) def OnPaint(self, e): print "OnPaint called" dc = wx.PaintDC(self) dc.SetPen(wx.Pen(wx.BLUE)) dc.SetBrush(wx.Brush(wx.BLUE)) # Go through the list of circles to draw all of them for circle in self.circles: dc.DrawCircle(circle[0], circle[1], 10) def main(): app = wx.App() win = MainWindow(None, "Draw delayed circles", size=(620,460)) win.Show() app.MainLoop() if __name__ == "__main__": main()

  • How do I prevent JDialog from showing in gnome-panel(Linux)?

    - by aeter
I have a class: public class ANote extends JDialog{...} In GNOME(Linux) it shows an entry in the gnome-panel. I want it to show nothing (the same way it does in the taskbar in Windows), because there may be present several instances of the class simultaneously, and this overcrowds the gnome-panel. How do I prevent it from showing an instance in the gnome-panel? EDIT: So far I have tried playing with the modality, which hides it from the gnome-panel, but blocks the main frame of the application behind the ANote instances.

  • Why are controls within custom panel (C# winforms) disappearing in designer?

    - by Brandon
I have been able to create a custom C# winforms control that is basically a panel with a fixed banner (header/footer). I want to base other user controls on this "banner panel". I've gotten past the problem with the designer here. I can successfully add controls to the inner content panel. Everything looks fine while designing. However, when I recompile, the controls I added to the content panel disappear. They are still there (in code) but aren't displayed in the designer. Is there any thing that I need to do to set the drawing order of the controls?

  • AutoScroll panel working intermittently.

    - by Edward Boyle
I spent hours last week trying to get AutoScroll to function properly on a derived/inherited panel control I have been writing. I found no answers on my own so I posted to several forums and move onto other code while I wait for a reply. Then out of nowhere, it started working properly. Now, Today (about a week later) I notice it is no longer working again!  I go back to those old posts with hopes I will find an answer – No such luck. I Google for about two hours reading everything I come across. I was just about to write a new custom control from the ground up, perhaps use a little unmanaged code to force things to function properly. All I knew was “options in front of me = dealys”.  Just before I gave up, my head in my hands,  Jordan Sirwin’s appropriately titled blog post: “C#: Windows Panel AutoScroll Bug / Intended Suckyness” saves the day! In order for scroll bars to display, there must be at least one control in the Panel with AutoSize set to true. This is absurd… I’m not sure if this is a bug or intended, but it’s stupid. –I feel your pain. How many others have spent hours on this, or worse,  just plain given up? I want those hours back Damnit!

  • Issue 55 - Skin Object Tokens, Optimized Control Panel, OWS Validation and Security, RAD

April 2010 Welcome to Issue 55 of DNN Creative Magazine In this issue we focus on the new Skin Object token method introduced in DotNetNuke 5 for adding tokens into a DotNetNuke skin. A Skin Object Token is a web user control which covers skin elements such as the logo, menu, search, login links, date, copyright, languages, links, banners, privacy, terms of use, etc. Following this we demonstrate how to install and use two Advanced DotNetNuke Admin Control Panels which are available for free from Oliver Hine. These control panels provide an optimized version of the admin control panel to improve performance and page load times, as well as a ribbon bar control panel which adds additional features. Next, we continue the Open Web Studio tutorials, this month we demonstrate some very advanced techniques for building a car parts application in Open Web Studio. Throughout the tutorial we cover form input, validation, how to use dependant drop down lists, populating checkbox lists and introduce a new concept of data level security. Data level security allows you to control which data a user can access within a module. To finish, we have part five of the "How to Build a News Application with DotNetMushroom Rapid Application Developer (RAD)" article, where we demonstrate how to implement paging. This issue comes complete with 14 videos. Skinning: Skin Object Tokens for DotNetNuke 5 (8 videos - 64mins) Free Module: Advanced Optimized Control Panel by Oliver Hine (1 video - 11mins) Module Development Series: Form Validation, Dependant Drop Downs and Data Level Security in OWS (5 videos - 44mins) How to Implement Paging with DotNetMushroom RAD View issue 55 to download all of the videos in one zip file DNN Creative Magazine for DotNetNuke Web Designers Covering DotNetNuke module video reviews, video tutorials, mp3 interviews, resources and web design tips for working with DotNetNuke. In 55 issues we have created 563 videos!Did you know that DotNetSlackers also publishes .net articles written by top known .net Authors?
