  • Getting Drag and Drop to Work in Virtual PC 2007 on Windows 7.

    Hi, I have Virtual PC 2007 installed on my Windows 7 machine. Before anyone asks, I have installed VPC 2007 because my machine does not support the new Virtual PC for Windows 7. Everythings working fine, except for the drag and drop file feature. On my old Windows XP machine the drag and drop feature works fine, but on Windows 7, nothing happens. I just get the "no drop" cursor. I HAVE installed Virtual Machine Additions and have run Virtual PC under XP Compatability, but still nothing. The Virtual Machines I have tried draging and dropping files onto on are: Windows 2000 Windows XP Windows 98 and as I said they all have Virtual Machine Additions on them. Whats going on? How can I get the drag and drop feature working? I did see this question, but it still doesn't answer my question.

  • Moving a "All-in-one" PC when turned on/off.

    I have an "all-in-one" pc. I know that moving a pc when it is switched on is harmful to the hardware components. What I would like to know is if the same applies to "all-in-one" pc's and if the same applies to regularly moving it from one side of the room to the other when it is turned off! The reason for the question is that I work on one desk during the day, and in the evening move it to the couch so I can do other stuff while watching TV or something. I always turn it off before the move, but somebody told me that I can be damaging the machine by doing so. Can anybody shed some light on this? Many thanks

I am using Django 1.1.1 on Ubuntu.

    I need to somehow use the CASE syntax (which is beyond me) to affect the database results based on criteria. I have a bunch of royalties in 0.# form (royalty) I have a title ID # (title_id) and I need to show the new increase in royalties so that I can use the data. IF: they have a current royalty of 0.0 - 0.1 = 10% raise IF: they have 0.11 - 0.15 = 20% raise IF: royalty >= 0.16 = 20% raise Any help would be much appreciated. create table royalites ( title_id char(6), lorange integer, hirange integer, royalty decimal(5,2));

  • Why Switch/Case and not If/Else If?

    This question in mainly pointed at C/C++, but I guess other languages are relevant as well. I can't understand why is switch/case still being used instead of if/else if. It seems to me much like using goto's, and results in the same sort of messy code, while the same results could be acheived with if/else if's in a much more organized manner. Still, I see these blocks around quite often. A common place to find them is near a message-loop (WndProc...), whereas these are among the places when they raise the heaviest havoc: variables are shared along the entire block, even when not propriate (and can't be initialized inside it). Extra attention has to be put on not dropping break's, and so on... Personally, I avoid using them, and I wonder wether I'm missing something? Are they more efficient than if/else's? Are they carried on by tradition?

    I have an accounts table and a records table where accounts have multiple records. I would like to break down the account totals by "count of records" range. i.e. show the breakdown of Count of Records | Count 0-25 | 100 25 - 50 | 122 50 - 100 | 300 etc. I am using the following query, but I can't get it to group by "grp" which is what I want, any help on the best way to modify query? I understand there are options for Macs to read/write NTFS filesystems and also for PCs to read/write HFS+ filesystems. Is there a way to capture the screen and save it as PNG or JPG?   • Can I build or test a computer without a case?

    I am in the process of building a really nice new PC right now. It's going to have a nice Lian Li case with the internals powder coated black and all the wires will be sleeved. So my problem is I am getting parts in a couple days but my case will not be completed for about a month because it is on back order plus time to powder coat it. I am purchasing many of m y parts from newegg.com and they claim you must return any dead parts within 30 days or the invoice for there warranty to replace bad parts. So is it possible for me to set up the PC without a case just to test that the main parts are working correctly within the timeframe I am allowed? If this is possible, how do I deal with turning the system on/off without a powere button? Or is therer one on a motherboard? Thanks for any tips/advice

    Some questions about it: If I create a funny version of a copyrighted game and sell it (crediting the original developers) would it be considered a parody or would I need to pay royalties? If I create a game mod for my own personal use would it be legal? What if I gave it for free to a friend? Is there a general rule about it or it depends on the developer will? P.S.: I'm not talking about cloning games like this question. It's all about a game clearly based on another. Something like "GTA Gotham City" ;) EDIT: This picture that I found over the internet illustrate what I'm talking about: Just in case I was not clear: I never created a mod game. I was just wondering if it would be legally possible before trying to do it. I'm not apologizing piracy. I pay dearly for my games (you guys have no idea how expensive games are in Brazil due to taxes). Once more I say that the question is not about cloning. Cloning is copy something and try to make your version look like a brand new product. Mods are intended to make reference to one or more of its source. I'm not sure if it can be done legally (if I knew I wasn't asking) but I'm sure this question is not a duplicate.     How can a Virtual PC with Win XP on it install the East Asian Language? (or does any browser come with Chinese fonts?) After setting up a virtual PC with Win XP, if Chinese font is needed, then the usual way is to go to the Control Panel, select "Regional and Language" and go to the second tab and check the box "Install Files for East Asian Languages". After clicking OK, it asks for the file cplexe.exe on the XP SP3 CD 3... and is said to be about 230MB... In such case, how can the language pack or fonts be installed? (Update: I found that it is true for Window 7's Virtual PC with XP on it, as well as the XP SP3 with IE 8 that can be downloaded in the link below.) (I downloaded the virtual hard drive file .vhd from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=21EABB90-958F-4B64-B5F1-73D0A413C8EF&displaylang=en so there is no "CD 3"... there) Or does any browser come with all the unicode fonts without needing the OS to support it?
