  • Can I use manifests to specify an optional dependency on a COM server?

    I'd like to use manifests to specify a dependency on a COM server (reg-free COM). The consumer application will mostly work fine without the COM server - only something like 1,7% of its functionality uses the COM server. So with plain old regsvr32 it would start and work fine until the user would do something that would trigger CoCreateInstance() call and at that point the consumer would get an error message. Now I've played with manifests for a while and it looks like the consumer wouldn't even start unless the COM server assembly it depends on is present in the file system. That's no good. Is there a way to use reg-free COM with manifests and make the dependency optional - so that the consumer program starts and works fine until CoCreateInstance() is actually called?

  • regex and javascript, some matches disappear !

Only the half of them matches, I guess that's because of the space wich count only once. So I tried to double every space before processing, but in some case it's not enough.     Up until now I just put all my jQuery goodness inside the $(document).ready() function, including simple functions used in certain user interactions. But functions that don´t require the DOM document to be loaded or are only called afterwards anyway, can be placed outside the $(document).ready() as well. Consider for example a very simple validation function such as: function hexvalidate(color) { // Validates 3-digit or 6-digit hex color codes var reg = /^(#)?([0-9a-fA-F]{3})([0-9a-fA-F]{3})?$/; return reg.test(color); } The function is only called from within the $(document).ready() function though. What is best practice (syntax, speed); placing such a function inside or outside the jquery document ready function?

  • string parsing help

    I've got a string like this: #################### Section One #################### Data A Data B #################### Section Two #################### Data C Data D etc. I want to parse it into something like: $arr( 'Section One' => array('Data A', 'Data B'), 'Section Two' => array('Data C', 'Data D') ) At first I tried this: $sections = preg_split("/(\r?\n)(\r?\n)#/", $file_content); The problem is, the file isn't perfectly clean: sometimes there are different numbers of blank lines between the sections, or blank spaces between data rows. The section head pattern itself seems to be relatively consistent: #################### Section Title #################### The number of #'s is probably consistent, but I don't want to count on it. The white space on the title line is pretty random. Once I have it split into sections, I think it'll be pretty straightforward, but any help writing a killer reg ex to get it there would be appreciated. (Or if there's a better approach than reg ex...)

    I am wanting to verify and then parse this string (in quotes): string = "start: c12354, c3456, 34526;" //Note that some codes begin with 'c' I would like to verify that the string starts with 'start:' and ends with ';' Afterward, I would like to have a regex parse out the strings. I tried the following python re code: regx = r"V1 OIDs: (c?[0-9]+,?)+;" reg = re.compile(regx) matched = reg.search(string) print ' matched.groups()', matched.groups() I have tried different variations but I can either get the first or the last code but not a list of all three. Or should I abandon using a regex?

    Hello First and foremost. I'm totally new to "programming" in Excel. I'm trying to make a price calculator, that calculates the price when I use my printer. I have made some lists so it's easy to perform the calculations. Single or duplex: Singlex/Duplex Format: SRA3 / A4 / SRA3 High Gloss The idea is that if I type in an amount of 100 prints, choose SRA3 format on the list, and choose Duplex on the other list. the calculation would look like this: This is how it's calculated: Paper + (print x sides) = Price of the print job Print prices Per page (singlex or duplex): 0,6 Paper format and price: A4 reg. paper: 0,2 SRA3 High Gloss: 1,25 SRA3 reg. paper: 1 Does anyone know about this???

  • Does anyone know of a vim plugin or script to convert special characters to their corresponding HTML

    I develop websites for corporate clients, so we see the ®, ™, etc. chars a whole lot. Sometimes I paste in huge blocks of copy, which might even contain pretty quotes (“ ”) or other strange characters from word processors. So, my question is this: Does anyone know of a vim plugin or script that can, in one fell swoop, convert all these characters to html entities? I think this covers all the bases of the entities it would be nice to have: http://web.forret.com/tools/charmap.asp So, for the characters above, they would be replaced with &reg;, &trade;, &ldquo;, &rdquo;, etc. I tried the htmlspecialchars vimball (http://www.vim.org/scripts/script.php?script_id=2377), but no dice. It only performs its replacement like the PHP htmlsepcialchars function, replacing html-conflicting characters, and doesn't cover any additional special characters.

    I've inherited some C# code that contains about a thousand lines of source that I need to modify, transforming it from this: newDataRow["to_dir"] = comboBox108.Text; To this: assetAttributes.Add("to_dir", comboBox108.Text); The lines occur in various places throughout the application in groups of 40 or 50. Modifying each line by hand in Visual Studio 2008 can be done but it's labor intensive and prone to errors. Is there a Windows utility out there that will let me cut and paste groups of code into it and then run some sort of reg-ex expression to transform the individual lines one-by-one? I'd also be willing to use some sort of VS 2008 add-in that performed the same set of reg-ex operations against a selection of code. Thanks in advance.

    Hi guys! For my small hobby project I need to emit machine code from C++ program in runtime. I have base address 0xDEADBEEF and want to write something like this: Assembler a((void*)0xDEADBEEF); a.Emit() << Push(Reg::Eax) << Push(Reg::Ebx) << Jmp(0xFEFEFEFE); Inline assembler isn't my choice because generated machine code is dependent of the program state. Does anybody know any existing library for doing this? If no, would it be a good idea to develop one from scratch and make it open source? (I mean, will anybody ever use this library if it existed?)

    I am making a program that lets a user input a chemical for example C9H11N02. When they enter that I want to split it up into pieces so I can have it like C9, H11, N, 02. When I have it like this I want to make changes to it so I can make it C10H12N203 and then put it back together. This is what I have done so far. using the regular expression I have used I can extract the integer value, but how would I go about get C10, H11 etc..?   • How many production servers should I start with?

    I'm building a site that I plan to grow to the size of SO. I'm only planning to have one prodcuction server to start off with. This will host everything including the database. I know it's very hard to say but am I likely to run into trouble quickly (if the site takes off) and if this is the case should I start out with more than one server so I can load balance everything from day 1?   • How to Add Control Panel to “My Computer” in Windows 7 or Vista

    Back in the Windows XP days, you could easily add Control Panel to My Computer with a simple checkbox in the folder view settings. Windows 7 and Vista don’t make this quite as easy, but there’s still a way to get it back. To make this tweak, we’ll be doing a quick registry hack, but there’s a downloadable version provided as well. Manual Registry Tweak to Add Control Panel Open up regedit.exe through the start menu search or run box, and then browse down to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MyComputer\NameSpace Now that you’re there, you’ll need to right-click and create a new key… If you want to add the regular Control Panel view, with the categories, you’ll need to use one GUID as the name of the key. If you want the icon view instead, you can use the other key. Here they are: Category View:  {26EE0668-A00A-44D7-9371-BEB064C98683} Icon View: {21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D} Once you’re done, it should look like this: Now over in the Computer view, just hit the F5 key to refresh the panel, and you should see the new icon pop up in the list: Now when you click on the icon you’ll be taken to Control Panel. If you didn’t know how to change the view before, you can use the drop-down box on the right-hand side to switch between Category and icon view.   • Scan Your Thumb Drive for Viruses from the AutoPlay Dialog

    It’s always a good idea to scan someone’s flash drive for viruses when you use it on your PC. Today we look at how to use Microsoft Security Essentials to scan thumb drives via the AutoPlay dialog. Editor Note: This technique was created by our friend Ramesh Srinivasan from the winhelponline tech blog. If you haven’t done so already, download and install Microsoft Security Essentials (link below), which has earned the How-To Geek official endorsement. Next download the mseautoplay.zip (link below). Unzip the file to view its contents. Then move the msescan.vbs script file into the Windows directory. Next double-click on the mseautoplay.reg file… Click Yes to the warning dialog window asking if you’re sure you want to add to the registry. After it’s added you’ll get a confirmation message…click OK. Now when you pop in a thumb drive, when AutoPlay comes up you will have the options to scan it with MSE first. MSE starts the scan of the thumb drive…   You can use this to scan any removable media. Here is an example of the ability to scan a DVD with MSE before opening any files. You can also go into Control Panel and set it as a default option of AutoPlay. Open Control Panel, View by Large icons, and click on AutoPlay. Notice that now when you go to change the default options for different types of media, Scanning with MSE is now included in the dropdown lists. Remove Settings If you want to remove the MSE AutoPlay Handler, Ramesh was kind enough to create an undo registry file. Double-click on undo.reg from the original MSE AutoPlay folder and click yes to the message to remove the setting.   Then you will need to go into the Windows directory and manually delete the msescan.vbs script file. This is an awesome trick which will allow you to scan your thumb drives and other removable media from the AutoPlay dialog. We tested it out on XP, Vista, and Windows 7 and it works perfectly on each one.     A tiff security update came out today for 12.04 and colord is still running with the older shared library # lsof -n | grep DEL | grep /lib colord 3454 colord DEL REG 252,1 3673529 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libtiff.so.4.3.4 Besides restarting the whole system, given there's no /etc/init.d/colord, how do I restart it so it picks up the new libtiff.so.

  • 2 domains 1 host package

    I have a windows web hosting package. I have 2 different domain names. Can i point my first domain to the the hosting package and then run BlogEngine.NET and then point the second domain to the hosting package running NopCommerce cart? www.domain1.co.uk (blog) www.domain2.co.uk (e-commerce cart) In IIS i would just create a new application within the site and create the bindings for domain2. But does this work for web hosting packages from 123-reg.co.uk
